We investigate the connections between four-dimensional, N = 2 M-theory vacua constructed as orbifolds of type II, heterotic, and type I strings. All these models have the same massless spectrum, which contains an equal number of vector multiplets and hypermultiplets, with a gauge group of the maximal rank allowed in a perturbative heterotic string construction. We find evidence for duality between two type I compactifications recently proposed and a new heterotic construction that we present here. This duality allows us to gain insight into the non-perturbative properties of these models. In particular we consider gravitational corrections to the effective action.  相似文献

We demonstrate that the fusion algebra of conformal defects of a two-dimensional conformal field theory contains information about the internal symmetries of the theory and allows one to read off generalizations of Kramers-Wannier duality. We construct a one-to-one map between the primary fields of the N = 2 superconformal Kazama-Suzuki models G(m, n, k) and G(k, n, m) based on complex Grassmannian cosets, using level-rank duality of Wess-Zumino-Witten models. We then show that conformal weights, superconformal U(I) charges, modular transformation matrices, and fusion rules are preserved under this map, providing strong evidence for the equivalence of these coset models.  相似文献

The Schrödinger equation for the four-dimensional double-singular oscillator is separable in Eulerian, double-polar, and spheroidal coordinates in ?4. It is shown that the coefficients for the expansion of the double-polar basis in terms of the Eulerian basis can be expressed through the Klebsch-Gordan coefficients of the group SU(2) analytically continued to real values of their arguments. The coefficients for the expansions of the spheroidal basis in terms of the Eulerian and double-polar bases are proved to satisfy three-term recursion relations.  相似文献

There exist several ways of constructing general relativity from ‘first principles’: Einstein’s original derivation, Lovelock’s results concerning the exceptional nature of the Einstein tensor from a mathematical perspective, and Hojman–Kucha?-Teitelboim’s derivation of the Hamiltonian form of the theory from the symmetries of space–time, to name a few. Here I propose a different set of first principles to obtain general relativity in the canonical Hamiltonian framework without presupposing space–time in any way. I first require consistent propagation of scalar spatially covariant constraints (in the Dirac picture of constrained systems). I find that up to a certain order in derivatives (four spatial and two temporal), there are large families of such consistently propagated constraints. Then I look for pairs of such constraints that can gauge-fix each other and form a theory with two dynamical degrees of freedom per space point. This demand singles out the ADM Hamiltonian either in (i) CMC gauge, with arbitrary (finite, non-zero) speed of light, and an extra term linear in York time, or (ii) a gauge where the Hubble parameter is conformally harmonic.  相似文献

构建了一类关联且有多种切换方式的四维超混沌系统.依据系统的分岔图确定了各个子系统都处于混沌状态时,系统参数的取值范围.分析了这类四维超混沌系统平衡点的性质、超混沌吸引子的相图和Lyapunov指数等特性,设计了实现这类可切换超混沌系统的实际电路,利用系统选择器,一个电路可以实现四个关联子系统的功能. 关键词: 超混沌系统 分岔图 Lyapunov指数 切换  相似文献

Duality ideas are applied to estimate the upsilon production in e+e? annihilation, hadronic collisions and photoproduction. Simple scaling rules for the cross sections are obtained and compared with experiments. Our results suggest the charge of the new constituent quark is likely to be ?13.  相似文献

We describe relationships between integrable systems with N degrees of freedom arising from the Alday-Gaiotto-Tachikawa conjecture. Namely, we prove the equivalence (spectral duality) between the N-cite Heisenberg spin chain and a reduced gl N Gaudin model both at classical and quantum level. The former one appears on the gauge theory side of the Alday-Gaiotto-Tachikawa relation in the Nekrasov-Shatashvili (and further the Seiberg-Witten) limit while the latter one is natural on the CFT side. At the classical level, the duality transformation relates the Seiberg-Witten differentials and spectral curves via a bispectral involution. The quantum duality extends this to the equivalence of the corresponding Baxter-Schrödinger equations (quantum spectral curves). This equivalence generalizes both the spectral self-duality between the 2 × 2 and N × N representations of the Toda chain and the famous Adams-Harnad-Hurtubise duality.  相似文献
