In this paper we propose a method for improving the convergence rate of the mixed finite element approximations for the Stokes eigenvalue problem. It is based on a postprocessing strategy that consists of solving an additional Stokes source problem on an augmented mixed finite element space which can be constructed either by refining the mesh or by using the same mesh but increasing the order of the mixed finite element space. Dedicated to Ivan Hlaváček on the occasion of his 75th birthday  相似文献

A new procedure for accelerating the convergence of mixed finite element approximations of the eigenpairs and of the biharmonic operator is proposed. It is based on a postprocessing technique that involves an additional solution of a source problem on an augmented finite element space. This space could be obtained either by substantially refining the grid, the two-grid method, or by using the same grid but increasing the order of polynomials by one, the two-space method. The numerical results presented and discussed in the paper illustrate the efficiency of the postprocessing method.  相似文献

A mixed finite element method is developed for a nonlinear fourth-order elliptic problem. Optimal L2 error estimates are proved by using a special interpolation operator on the standard tensor-product finite elements of order k?1. Then two iterative schemes are presented and proved to keep the same optimal error estimates. Three numerical examples are provided to support the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

A mixed finite element method for approximating eigenpairs of IV order elliptic eigenvalue problems with Dirichlet boundary conditions has been given. The method can be applied to the vibration analysis of anisotropic/orthotropic/isotropic/biharmonic plates. Computer implementation procedures for this mixed method are given along with the results of numerical experiments.  相似文献

In this article, we combine mixed finite element method, multiscale discretization, and Rayleigh quotient iteration to propose a new adaptive algorithm based on residual type a posterior error estimates for the Stokes eigenvalue problem. Both reliability and efficiency of the error indicator are proved. The efficiency of the algorithm is also investigated using Chen's Innovation Finite Element Method (iFEM) package. Numerical results are satisfying.© 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 31: 31–53, 2015  相似文献

In this paper, the author derives an ‐superconvergence for the piecewise linear Ritz‐Galerkin finite element approximations for the second‐order elliptic equation equipped with Dirichlet boundary conditions. This superconvergence error estimate is established between the finite element solution and the usual Lagrange nodal point interpolation of the exact solution, and thus the superconvergence at the nodal points of each element. The result is based on a condition for the finite element partition characterized by the coefficient tensor and the usual shape functions on each element, called ‐equilateral assumption in this paper. Several examples are presented for the coefficient tensor and finite element triangulations which satisfy the conditions necessary for superconvergence. Some numerical experiments are conducted to confirm this new theory of superconvergence.  相似文献

We develop a new approach to a posteriori error estimation for Galerkin finite element approximations of symmetric and nonsymmetric elliptic eigenvalue problems. The idea is to embed the eigenvalue approximation into the general framework of Galerkin methods for nonlinear variational equations. In this context residual-based a posteriori error representations are available with explicitly given remainder terms. The careful evaluation of these error representations for the concrete situation of an eigenvalue problem results in a posteriori error estimates for the approximations of eigenvalues as well as eigenfunctions. These suggest local error indicators that are used in the mesh refinement process.  相似文献

In this paper, we analyze the biharmonic eigenvalue problem by two nonconforming finite elements, Q and E Q. We obtain full order convergence rate of the eigenvalue approximations for the biharmonic eigenvalue problem based on asymptotic error expansions for these two nonconforming finite elements. Using the technique of eigenvalue error expansion, the technique of integral identities, and the extrapolation method, we can improve the accuracy of the eigenvalue approximations. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. By using a special interpolation operator developed by Girault and Raviart (finite element methods for Navier‐Stokes Equations, Springer‐Verlag, Berlin, 1986), we prove that optimal error bounds can be obtained for a fourth‐order elliptic problem and a fourth‐order parabolic problem solved by mixed finite element methods on quasi‐uniform rectangular meshes. Optimal convergence is proved for all continuous tensor product elements of order k ≥ 1. A numerical example is provided for solving the fourth‐order elliptic problem using the bilinear element. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq, 2006  相似文献

This study discusses generalized Rayleigh quotient and high efficiency finite element discretization schemes. Some results are as follows: 1) Rayleigh quotient accelerate technique is extended to nonselfadjoint problems. Generalized Rayleigh quotients of operator form and weak form are defined and the basic relationship between approximate eigenfunction and its generalized Rayleigh quotient is established. 2) New error estimates are obtained by replacing the ascent of exact eigenvalue with the ascent of fin...  相似文献

In this paper we analyze the stream function-vorticity-pressure method for the Stokes eigenvalue problem. Further, we obtain full order convergence rate of the eigenvalue approximations for the Stokes eigenvalue problem based on asymptotic error expansions for two nonconforming finite elements, Q 1rot and EQ 1rot. Using the technique of eigenvalue error expansion, the technique of integral identities and the extrapolation method, we can improve the accuracy of the eigenvalue approximations. In this article we consider a finite element approximation for a model elliptic problem of second order on non‐matching grids. This method combines the continuous finite element method with interior penalty discontinuous Galerkin method. As a special case, we develop a finite element method that is continuous on the matching part of the grid and is discontinuous on the nonmatching part. A residual type a posteriori error estimate is derived. Results of numerical experiments are presented. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 2010  相似文献

We combine abstract eigenvalue/eigenvector estimates (from our earlier work) with a saturation assumption for finite element solution of associated stationary problem to obtain a posteriori estimates of the accuracy of finite element Rayleigh–Ritz approximations. Attention will be payed to the interplay between the accuracy estimate for the finite element method and a strategy for generating an adapted mesh. The obtained results use a preconditioned residuum of Neymeyr and extend his study of eigenvalue approximations with eigenvector estimates. We also prove that this eigenvalue estimator is equivalent to the global error. (© 2006 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

In this paper, we provide a new mixed finite element approximation of the varia-tional inequality resulting from the unilateral contact problem in elasticity. We use the continuous piecewise P2-P1 finite element to approximate the displacement field and the normal stress component on the contact region. Optimal convergence rates are obtained under the reasonable regularity hypotheses. Numerical example verifies our results.  相似文献

We consider a finite element discretization of the primal first‐order least‐squares mixed formulation of the second‐order elliptic problem. The unknown variables are displacement and flux, which are approximated by equal‐order elements of the usual continuous element and the normal continuous element, respectively. We show that the error bounds for all variables are optimal. In addition, a field‐based least‐squares finite element method is proposed for the 3D‐magnetostatic problem, where both magnetic field and magnetic flux are taken as two independent variables which are approximated by the tangential continuous and the normal continuous elements, respectively. Coerciveness and optimal error bounds are obtained. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq, 2004.  相似文献

We consider a finite element method (FEM) with arbitrary polynomial degree for nonlinear monotone elliptic problems. Using a linear elliptic projection, we first give a new short proof of the optimal convergence rate of the FEM in the L2 norm. We then derive optimal a priori error estimates in the H1 and L2 norm for a FEM with variational crimes due to numerical integration. As an application, we derive a priori error estimates for a numerical homogenization method applied to nonlinear monotone elliptic problems. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this article, we present a posteriori error analysis for the regularization formulation of the eigenvalue problem arising from the vibration frequencies of the cavity flow. The quasi‐optimality of the adaptive finite element method is also proved for the single eigenvalues under the Dörfler's marking strategy without marking the oscillation terms and enforcing the so‐called interior node property. Numerical examples illustrate the quasi‐optimality of the adaptive finite element method. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 31: 900–922, 2015  相似文献

In this paper we analyze the finite element discretization for the first-order system least squares mixed model for the second-order elliptic problem by means of using nonconforming and conforming elements to approximate displacement and stress, respectively. Moreover, on arbitrary regular quadrilaterals, we propose new variants of both the rotated nonconforming element and the lowest-order Raviart-Thomas element.
