The phenol(+)...Ar(2) complex has been characterized in a supersonic jet by mass analyzed threshold ionization (MATI) spectroscopy via different intermediate intermolecular vibrational states of the first electronically excited state (S(1)). From the spectra recorded via the S(1)0(0) origin and the S(1)β(x) intermolecular vibrational state, the ionization energy (IE) has been determined as 68,288 ± 5 cm(-1), displaying a red shift of 340 cm(-1) from the IE of the phenol(+) monomer. Well-resolved, nearly harmonic vibrational progressions with a fundamental frequency of 10 cm(-1) have been observed in the ion ground state (D(0)) and assigned to the symmetric van der Waals (vdW) bending mode, β(x), along the x axis containing the C-O bond. MATI spectra recorded via the S(1) state involving other higher-lying intermolecular vibrational states (σ(s)(1), β(x)(3), σ(s)(1)β(x)(1), σ(s)(1)β(x)(2)) are characterized by unresolved broad structures.  相似文献

A laser spectroscopic investigation of phenol...Ar(n) (n = 1-6) clusters in the first electronically excited state (S(1)) and the cationic ground state (D(0)) is reported. Resonance enhanced two-photon ionisation (R2PI) spectra have been recorded for the investigation of the S(1) state. The origins of S(1)← S(0) (S(1)0(0)) transition of phenol...Ar(n) (n = 1, 2,4-6) are all red shifted compared to the S(1)0(0) state of the monomer by 33 cm(-1), 67 cm(-1), 10 cm(-1), 20 cm(-1), 44 cm(-1), respectively. However, the origin of the phenolAr(3) cluster is blue shifted by 25 cm(-1). For the investigation of the ionic ground state photoionization efficiency (PIE) and mass-analyzed-threshold ionization (MATI) spectroscopy have been applied. The spectra of phenol...Ar(3) and phenol...Ar(4) yield values for the ionization energy (IE) of 68,077 ± 15 cm(-1) and 67,948 ± 15 cm(-1). With the combination of theoretical methods and R2PI, PIE and MATI spectroscopy, the major species present have been positively identified.  相似文献

By using a high-resolution infrared (IR) laser to prepare propyne (C(3)H(4)) in selected rotational levels of the excited nu(1) (acetylenic C-H stretching) vibration mode prior to vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) laser pulsed field ionization-photoelectron (PFI-PE) measurements, we have obtained rotationally resolved VUV-PFI-PE spectra for the C(3)H(4) (+)(X (2)E(32,12),nu(1) (+)=1) band. The analysis of these PFI-PE spectra leads to the determination of the spin-orbit constant of A=-13.0+/-0.2 cm(-1) for the C(3)H(4) (+)(X (2)E(32,12),nu(1) (+)=1) state. Using this A constant and the relative rotationally selected and resolved state-to-state photoionization cross sections thus measured, we have obtained an excellent simulation for the VUV-PFI-PE origin band of C(3)H(4) (+)(X (2)E(32,12)), yielding a value of 83 619.0+/-1.0 cm(-1) (10.367 44+/-0.000 12 eV) for the adiabatic ionization energy of C(3)H(4) [IE(C(3)H(4))]. The present two-color IR-VUV-PFI-PE study has also made possible the determination of the C-H stretching frequencies nu(1) (+)=3217.1+/-0.2 cm(-1) for C(3)H(4) (+)(X (2)E(32,12)). The spectral assignment and simulation were guided by high-level ab initio calculations on the IE(C(3)H(4)), Franck-Condon factors for photoionization transitions, and rotational constants and vibrational frequencies for C(3)H(4) (+).  相似文献

The vibrationally resolved mass analyzed threshold ionization spectra of jetcooled 5-methylindole (5MI) and 3-methylindole (3MI) have been recorded by ionizing via various vibronic levels of each species. The adiabatic ionization energies (IEs) of 5MI and 3MI are determined to be 61,696+/-5 and 60,679+/-5 cm(-1), which are less than that of indole by 895 and 1912 cm(-1), respectively. Comparing these data with those of 1-methylindole and indole suggests that the methyl substitution on the pyrrole part leads to a greater redshift in the IE than on the benzene part. These experimental findings are well supported by the theoretical calculations. Analysis on these new data shows that many active vibrations of the 5MI cation are related to the CH(3) torsion and in-plane ring bending vibrations. In contrast, the observed vibrational bands of the 3MI cation are very weak due to unfavorable Franck-Condon transition.  相似文献

The mass-analyzed threshold ionization (MATI) spectra of p-methylphenol and p-ethylphenol have been recorded by ionizing via various vibronic levels. The adiabatic ionization energies (IEs) of p-methylphenol and p-ethylphenol are determined to be 65918+/-5 and 65628+/-5 cm(-1), which are less than that of phenol by 2707 and 2997 cm(-1), respectively. This redshift indicates that the interaction between the alkyl group and the ring of alkylphenols in the cationic D(0) state is greater than that in the neutral S(0) state. Moreover, a longer alkyl group gives rise to a greater redshift in the IE. Analysis of the MATI spectra shows that most of the active modes are related to the in-plane ring vibrations of these two cations. However, the length of the alkyl group has an insignificant effect on the frequency of the observed ring vibrations. No band with frequency less than 350 cm(-1) is observed for the p-methylphenol cation. In contrast, many low-frequency bands resulting from the characteristic motions (e.g., the C-C(2)H(5) torsion and C-C(2)H(5) and C-OH bending vibrations) appear in the MATI spectra of p-ethylphenol. The present results show that the ethyl group enhances the substituent-sensitive and many large-amplitude vibrations of the cation.  相似文献

We report studies of supersonically cooled 4-aminopyridine (4-AP) using two-color resonantly enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) and two-color zero kinetic energy (ZEKE) photoelectron spectroscopy. With the aid of ab initio and density functional calculations, vibrational modes of the first electronically excited state (S1) of the neutral species and those of the cation have been assigned, and the adiabatic ionization potential has been determined to be 62291+/-6 cm(-1). The REMPI spectrum of the S1 state is dominated by ring deformation modes and the inversion mode of the amino group, while the ZEKE spectra demonstrate a strong propensity of Deltav=0, where v is the vibrational quantum number of the intermediate vibronic state from S1. In addition, the ZEKE spectra obtained via different vibrational levels of the S1 state contain four common features, corresponding to the activation of four different vibrational modes of the cation. These observations are explained in terms of the structural changes from the ground state to S1 and further to the cation. The vibrational mode distributions in both the REMPI and the ZEKE spectra, the excitation energy of the S1 state, and the ionization potential of 4-AP, are remarkably similar to those of aniline, suggesting that the electronic activity is centered on the ring.  相似文献

The isotopomer-resolved vibrational and spin-orbit energy structures of Cl(2) (+)(X (2)Pi(g)) have been studied by one-photon zero kinetic energy photoelectron spectroscopy. The spin-orbit energy splitting for the ground vibrational state is determined as 717.7+/-1.5 cm(-1), which greatly improves on the accuracy of the previously reported data. This value is found to be in good agreement with the ab initio quantum chemical calculation taking account of the inner shell electron correlation. The first adiabatic ionization energy (IE) of Cl(2) is determined as 92 645.9+/-1.0 cm(-1). Using the ion-pair formation imaging method to discriminate signals of Cl(+)((1)D(2)) from those of Cl(+)((3)P(j)), the threshold for ion-pair (E(tipp)) production, Cl(+)((1)D(2))+Cl(-)((1)S(0))<--Cl(2)(X (1)Sigma(g) (+)), is determined as 107 096(-2) (+8) cm(-1). By using the determined IE and E(tipp) for Cl(2) and also the reported IE and electronic affinity for chlorine atom, the bond dissociation energies of Cl(2)(X (1)Sigma(g) (+)) and Cl(2) (+)(X (2)Pi(g)) have been determined as 19 990(-2) (+8) and 31 935.1(-2) (+8), respectively.  相似文献

Two conformational isomers of the aromatic hydrocarbon n-butylbenzene have been studied using two-color MATI (mass analyzed threshold ionization) spectroscopy to explore the effect of conformation on ionization dynamics. Cationic states of g auche-conformer III and anti- conformers IV were selectively produced by two-color excitation via the respective S 1 origins. Adiabatic ionization potentials of the gauche- and anti-conformations were determined to be 70146 and 69872 +/- 5 cm (-1) respectively. Spectral features and vibrational modes are interpreted with the aid of MP2/cc-pVDZ ab initio calculations, and ionization-induced changes in the molecular conformations are discussed. Complete basis set (CBS) ab initio studies at MP2 level reveal reliable energetics for all four n-butylbenzene conformers observed in earlier two-color REMPI (resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization) spectra. For the S 0 state, the energies of conformer III, IV and V are above conformer I by 130, 289, 73 cm (-1), respectively. Furthermore, the combination of the CBS calculations with the measured REMPI, MATI spectra allowed the determination of the energetics of all four conformers in the S 1 and D 0 states.  相似文献

For the first time, vibrational spectra of the 35Cl2 and 35Cl37Cl isotopomers of o-, m-, and p-dichlorobenzene cations in the electronic ground state have been measured via S1 intermediate states by mass analyzed threshold ionization (MATI) spectroscopy. Additionally, ab initio calculations at DFT (density functional theory), CIS (configuration interaction singles), and CASSCF (complete active space self-consistent field) levels of theory have been conducted to compare experimental findings with theory. From the MATI spectra, adiabatic ionization energies of the ortho, meta, and para isomers have been determined to be the same for each pair of investigated isotopomers to 73,237 +/- 6, 72,191 +/- 6, and 73,776 +/- 6 cm(-1), respectively. Several vibrational modes, including fundamentals, combinations, and progressions have been assigned by comparing the experimental and theoretical results. The appearance of overtone progressions involving the 7a mode could be explained by a geometry change of all three isomers during ionization in the direction of this mode by retraining the symmetry of the molecules. Although the general spectral features of the investigated isotopomers are similar, frequencies of some vibrations are slightly different up to a few wavenumbers depending on the involvement of the chlorine atoms in the molecular motion.  相似文献

Diastereomeric conduramine derivatives, i.e., (1R,2S,3R/S,6S)-6-(N-carbomethoxyamino) 1,2-O-isopropylidenecyclohex-4-ene-1,2,3-triol (1 and 2) and their O-acetyl derivatives (3 and 4), were studied using gas chromatography (GC) with electron ionization (EI) and chemical ionization (CI). The EI mass spectra of diastereomeric pairs show consistent differences in the relative abundances of characteristic ions. The EI fragmentation patterns are based on precursor/product ion spectra, high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) and deuterium labelling. The CI spectra show differences from the EI spectra, and the isobutane/CI spectra are much simpler than the methane/CI spectra. The differences shown in the CI spectra are similar to those shown in the product ion spectra of [M+H](+) ions generated under electrospray ionization (ESI) conditions. Theoretical calculations are performed to understand the observed differences. The differences in the relative stabilities of molecular ions, or protonated molecules at different sites, can explain the observed differences in the spectra.  相似文献

Free neutral CO(2) clusters were produced by adiabatic expansion and characterized by carbon 1s (C1s) photoelectron spectroscopy using synchrotron radiation. The shift in C1s ionization energy (IE) between the cluster and the monomer, i.e., ΔIE = IE(cluster) - IE(monomer), was found to vary systematically with the experimental conditions. A functional relationship is established between the mean cluster size in the beam, , and ΔIE, in good agreement with theoretical calculations of shifts in ionization energy for model clusters. This makes it possible to use core-level photoelectron spectroscopy to monitor the mean cluster size and also to estimate from expansion conditions.  相似文献

The photoionization efficiency (PIE) and pulsed field ionization-photoion (PFI-PI) spectra for sulfur atoms S(3P2,1,0) and S(1D2) resulting from the 193.3 nm photodissociation of CS2 have been measured using tunable vacuum ultraviolet (vuv) laser radiation in the frequency range of 82 750-83 570 cm(-1). The PIE spectrum of S(3P2,1,0) near their ionization threshold exhibits steplike structures. On the basis of the velocity-mapped ion-imaging measurements, four strong autoionizing peaks observed in the PIE measurement in this frequency range have been identified to originate from vuv excitation of S(1D2). The PFI-PI measurement reveals over 120 previously unidentified new Rydberg lines. They have been assigned as Rydberg states [3p3(4S composite function nd3 D composite function (n=17-64)] converging to the ground ionic state S+(4S composite function) formed by vuv excitations of S(3P2,1,0). The converging limits of these Rydberg series have provided more accurate values, 82 985.43+/-0.05, 83 162.94+/-0.05, and 83 559.04+/-0.05 cm(-1) for the respective ionization energies of S(3P0), S(3P1), and S(3P2) to form S+(4S composite function). The relative intensities of the PFI-PI bands for S(3P0), S(3P1), and S(3P2) have been used to determine the branching ratios for these fine structure states, S(3P0):S(3P1):S(3P2)=1.00:1.54:3.55, produced by photodissociation of CS2 at 193.3 nm.  相似文献

We have applied two-color resonant two-photon mass-analyzed threshold ionization technique to record the vibrational spectra of the selected rotamers of m-cresol. The adiabatic ionization energies of cis and trans m-cresol are determined to be 66,933+/-5 and 67,084+/-5 cm(-1), respectively. Frequencies of the in-plane ring vibrations 6a, 1, and 9b are measured to be 528, 720, 1167 cm(-1) for the cis and 520, 698, and 1153 cm(-1) for the trans m-cresol cation. This indicates that different orientation of the OH group with respect to the CH(3) group slightly influences these ring vibrations.  相似文献

By employing the vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) laser velocity-map imaging (VMI) photoelectron scheme to discriminate energetic photoelectrons, we have measured the VUV-VMI-threshold photoelectrons (VUV-VMI-TPE) spectra of propargyl radical [C(3)H(3)(X?(2)B(1))] near its ionization threshold at photoelectron energy bandwidths of 3 and 7 cm(-1) (full-width at half-maximum, FWHM). The simulation of the VUV-VMI-TPE spectra thus obtained, along with the Stark shift correction, has allowed the determination of a precise value 70 156 ± 4 cm(-1) (8.6982 ± 0.0005 eV) for the ionization energy (IE) of C(3)H(3). In the present VMI-TPE experiment, the Stark shift correction is determined by comparing the VUV-VMI-TPE and VUV laser pulsed field ionization-photoelectron (VUV-PFI-PE) spectra for the origin band of the photoelectron spectrum of the X?(+)-X? transition of chlorobenzene. The fact that the FWHMs for this origin band observed using the VUV-VMI-TPE and VUV-PFI-PE methods are nearly the same indicates that the energy resolutions achieved in the VUV-VMI-TPE and VUV-PFI-PE measurements are comparable. The IE(C(3)H(3)) value obtained based on the VUV-VMI-TPE measurement is consistent with the value determined by the VUV laser PIE spectrum of supersonically cooled C(3)H(3)(X?(2)B(1)) radicals, which is also reported in this article.  相似文献

Copper complexes of pyrazine (1,4-C4H4N2), pyrimidine (1,3-C4H4N2), and pyridazine (1,2-C4H4N2) are produced in laser-vaporization supersonic molecular beams and studied by pulsed-field ionization zero electron kinetic energy (ZEKE) spectroscopy and second-order Moller-Plesset perturbation theory. Both sigma and pi complexes are considered by these ab initio calculations; only sigma structures are identified in these experiments. Adiabatic ionization energies and metal-ligand vibrational frequencies of the sigma complexes are measured from the ZEKE spectra. Metal-ligand bond dissociation energies of these complexes are obtained from a thermochemical cycle. The ionization energies follow the trend of Cu pyridazine (43,054 cm(-1)) < Cu pyrimidine (45,332 cm(-1)) < Cu pyrazine (46,038 cm(-1)); the bond energies are in the order of Cu pyridazine (56.2 kJ mol(-1)) > Cu pyrazine (48.5 kJ mol(-1)) approximately Cu pyrimidine (46.4 kJ mol(-1)). The stronger binding of pyridazine is due to its larger electric dipole moment and possibly bidentate binding.  相似文献

Clusters of Ar bound to isomers of the aromatic hydrocarbon n-butylbenzene (BB) have been studied using two-color REMPI (resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization) and MATI (mass analyzed threshold ionization) spectroscopy to explore noncovalent vdW interactions between these two moieties. Blue shifts of excitation energy were observed for gauche-BB...Ar clusters, and red shifts for anti-BB...Ar clusters were observed. Adiabatic ionization energies (IEs) of the conformer BB-I...Ar and BB-V...Ar were determined as 70052 and 69845 +/- 5 cm (-1), respectively. Spectral features and vibrational modes were interpreted with the aid of UMP2/cc-pVDZ ab initio calculations. Data of complexation shifts of the alkyl-benzenes and their argon clusters were collected and discussed. Using the CCSD(T) method at complete basis set (CBS) level, interaction energies for the neutral ground states of BB-I...Ar and BB-V...Ar were obtained as 650 and 558 cm (-1), respectively. Combining the CBS calculation results and the REMPI and MATI spectra allowed further the determination of the interaction energies and the energetics of BB...Ar in the excited neutral S 1 and the D 0 cationic ground states.  相似文献

The pulsed field ionization-photoelectron (PFI-PE) spectrum of bromochloromethane (CH2BrCl) in the region of 85,320-88,200 cm-1 has been measured using vacuum ultraviolet laser. The vibrational structure resolved in the PFI-PE spectrum was assigned based on ab initio quantum chemical calculations and Franck-Condon factor predictions. At energies 0-1400 cm-1 above the adiabatic ionization energy (IE) of CH2BrCl, the Br-C-Cl bending vibration progression (nu1+=0-8) of CH2BrCl+ is well resolved and constitutes the major structure in the PFI-PE spectrum, whereas the spectrum at energies 1400-2600 cm-1 above the IE(CH2BrCl) is found to exhibit complex vibrational features, suggesting perturbation by the low lying excited CH2BrCl+(A 2A") state. The assignment of the PFI-PE vibrational bands gives the IE(CH2BrCl)=85,612.4+/-2.0 cm-1 (10.6146+/-0.0003 eV) and the bending frequencies nu1+(a1')=209.7+/-2.0 cm-1 for CH2BrCl+(X2A'). We have also examined the dissociative photoionization process, CH2BrCl+hnu-->CH2Cl++Br+e-, in the energy range of 11.36-11.57 eV using the synchrotron based PFI-PE-photoion coincidence method, yielding the 0 K threshold or appearance energy AE(CH2Cl+)=11.509+/-0.002 eV. Combining the 0 K AE(CH2Cl+) and IE(CH2BrCl) values obtained in this study, together with the known IE(CH2Cl), we have determined the 0 K bond dissociation energies (D0) for CH2Cl+-Br (0.894+/-0.002 eV) and CH2Cl-Br (2.76+/-0.01 eV). We have also performed CCSD(T, full)/complete basis set (CBS) calculations with high-level corrections for the predictions of the IE(CH2BrCl), AE(CH2Cl+), IE(CH2Cl), D0(CH2Cl+-Br), and D0(CH2Cl-Br). The comparison between the theoretical predictions and experimental determinations indicates that the CCSD(T, full)/CBS calculations with high-level corrections are highly reliable with estimated error limits of <17 meV.  相似文献

The infrared and ultraviolet spectroscopy of o-, m-, and p-ethynylstyrene isomers (oES, mES, and pES) were studied by a combination of methods, including resonance-enhanced two-photon ionization (R2PI), UV-UV hole-burning spectroscopy (UVHB), resonant ion-dip infrared spectroscopy (RIDIRS), and rotationally resolved fluorescence excitation spectroscopy. In addition, the newly developed method of stimulated emission pumping-population transfer spectroscopy (SEP-PTS) was used to determine the energy threshold to conformational isomerization in m-ethynylstyrene. The S(1) <-- S(0) origin transitions of oES and pES occur at 32 369 and 33 407 cm(-1), respectively. In mES, the cis and trans conformations are calculated to be close in energy. In the R2PI spectrum of mES, the two most prominent peaks (32672 and 32926 cm(-1)) were confirmed by UVHB spectroscopy to be S(1) <-- S(0) origins of these two conformers. The red-shifted conformer was identified as the cis structure by least-squares fitting of the rotationally resolved fluorescence excitation spectrum of the origin band. There are also two possible conformations in oES, but transitions due to only one were observed experimentally, as confirmed by UVHB spectroscopy. Density functional theory calculations (B3LYP/6-31+G) predict that the cis-ortho conformer, in which the substituents point toward each other, is about 8 kJ/mol higher in energy than the trans-ortho isomer, and should only be about 5% of the room temperature population of oES. Ground-state infrared spectra in the C-H stretch region (3000-3300 cm(-1)) of each isomer were obtained with RIDIRS. In all three structural isomers, the acetylenic C-H stretch fundamental was split by Fermi resonance. Infrared spectra were also recorded in the excited electronic state, using a UV-IR-UV version of RIDIR spectroscopy. In all three isomers the acetylenic C-H stretch fundamental was unshifted from the ground state, but no Fermi resonance was seen. The first observed and last unobserved transitions in the SEP-PT spectrum were used to place lower and upper bounds on the barrier to cis --> trans isomerization in m-ethynylstyrene of 990-1070 cm(-1). Arguments are given for the lack of a kinetic shift in the measurement. The analogous trans --> cis barrier is in the same range (989-1065 cm(-1)), indicating that the relative energies of the zero-point levels of the two isomers are (E(ZPL)(cis) - E(ZPL)(trans))= -75 to +81 cm(-1). Both the barrier heights and relative energies of the minima are close to those determined by DFT (Becke3LYP/6-31+G) calculations.  相似文献

Mass-analyzed threshold ionization (MATI) spectra of ethyl bromide were obtained using one-color two-photon ionization through a dissociative intermediate state. Accurate values for the adiabatic ionization energy have been obtained, 83099+/-5 and 85454+/-5 cm(-1) for the X1 2E and X2 2E states of the ethyl bromide cation, respectively, giving a splitting of 2355+/-10 cm(-1). Compared with conventional photoelectron data, the two-photon MATI spectrum exhibited a more extensive vibrational structure with a higher resolution, mainly containing the modes involving the dissociation coordinate. The observed modes were analyzed and discussed in terms of wave packet evolving on the potential-energy surface of the dissociative state.  相似文献

Group 6 metal bis(benzene) sandwich complexes (M-bz(2): M=Cr, Mo, and W and bz=C(6)H(6)) were produced with laser vaporization molecular beam techniques and studied by pulsed-field ionization zero electron kinetic energy spectroscopy and density functional theory calculations. Each sandwich complex is in a D(6h) eclipsed configuration with (1)A(1g) and (2)A(1g) as the neutral and cationic ground electronic states, respectively. The adiabatic ionization energies for Cr-, Mo-, and W-bz(2) are measured to be 44,081(7), 44,581(10), and 43,634(7) cm(-1), respectively. The metal-benzene stretch and benzene torsion frequencies of the ion are measured to be 264, 277, and 370 cm(-1) and 11, 21, and 45 cm(-1) for Cr-, Mo-, and W-bz(2), respectively. In addition, a C-H out-of-plane bending mode is measured to be 787 cm(-1) for the Cr(+)-bz(2) complex, while a C-C in-plane bending mode is measured to be 614 cm(-1) for the W(+)-bz(2) complex. The unusual trend in the ionization energy and metal-benzene stretch frequency indicates strong relativistic effects on tungsten binding.  相似文献
