The adsorption process of 3-chloro phenol from aqueous solution on a activated carbon prepared from African palm stone and which presents a specific surface area of 685 m2 g−1, a greater quantity of total acid groups and a pHPZC of 6.8 is studied. The adsorption isotherms are determined at pH values of 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11. The adsorption isotherms are fitted to the Langmuir model and the values of the maximum quantity adsorbed that are between 96.2 and 46.4 mg g−1 are obtained along with the constant KL with values between 0.422 and 0.965 L mg−1. The maximum quantity adsorbed diminishes with the pH and the maximum value for this is a pH of 5. The immersion enthalpies of the activated carbon in a 3-chloro phenol solution of constant concentration, of 100 mg L−1, are determined for the different pH levels, with results between 37.6 and 21.2 J g−1. Immersion enthalpies of the activated carbon in function of 3-chloro phenol solution concentration are determined to pH 5, of maximum adsorption, with values between 28.3 and 38.4 J g−1, and by means of linearization, the maximum immersion enthalpy is calculated, with a value of 41.67 J g−1. With the results of the immersion enthalpy, maximum quantity adsorbed and the constant KL, establish relations that describe the adsorption process of 3-chloro phenol from aqueous solution on activated carbon.  相似文献

A way to calculate the enthalpic contributions of each component of the mixture of activated carbon and water to the immersion enthalpy using the concepts of the solution enthalpies is presented. By determining the immersion enthalpies of a microporous activated carbon in water, with values that are between –18.97 and −27.21 Jg−1, from these and the mass ratio of activated carbon and water, differential enthalpies for the activated carbon, ΔHDIFacH_{{\rm DIF}_{\rm ac}} and water, ΔHDIFwH_{{\rm DIF}_{\rm w}} are calculated, and values between –15.95 and –26.81 Jg−1 and between –19.14 and –42.45 Jg−1, respectively are obtained. For low ratios of the mixture, the components’ contributions to the immersion enthalpy of activated carbon and water differ by 3.20 Jg−1.  相似文献

The specific and non-specific interactions of twelve activated carbon cloth samples prepared from commercial cotton fabric, and that present different activation degrees are studied through the determination of immersion enthalpies in CCl4 and H2O, and in aqueous solutions of NaOH and HCl. The immersion enthalpies found for the solvents CCl4 and H2O are in a range of 5.49–45.84 and 1.77–7.76 J g−1, respectively. The enthalpic values for the materials in aqueous solutions of NaOH and HCl, allow characterizing the chemical surface of these materials, which are in a range of 6.63 and 21.49 J g−1, finding through them important relations in company with other characterizing techniques used in the study of these materials.  相似文献

The interactions among five samples of activated carbons, obtained from different lignocellulosic materials with different degrees of activation of approximately 20% and aqueous solutions of phenol and 4-nitro phenol are studied by means of the determination of immersion enthalpies. It is established that the obtained activated carbons are of a basic character and show values for the pH at the point of zero charge, pHPZC, that range from 7.4 to 9.7 and, in all cases, higher total basicity contents than the values obtained for total acidity. The immersion heat of the activated carbons in CCl4 and water is determined obtaining values which are higher for CCl4 immersion and vary from 31.4 to 48.6 J g−1. The hydrophobic factor, hf, it is calculated from the relation between of the immersion heat of the activated carbons in CCl4 and the immersion heat in water, the obtained values were 2.98 and 6.75, which are greater than 1 due to the greater values obtained in CCl4 when compared to the values obtained in water. Immersion enthalpies in phenol solution range from 7.6 to 13.9 J g−1 and for the case of 4-nitro phenol such enthalpies range from 12.7 to 20.5 J g−1; all the 5 samples studied showed a higher value for the heat of immersion in aqueous solutions of 4-nitro phenol.  相似文献

Immersion enthalpies of activated carbon samples obtained by activation with steam at temperatures between 600 and 900 °C and activation times between 1 and 10 h were determined. The calorimetric liquids of immersion are CCl4, water, NaOH, and HCl 2 M solutions, and the values of the immersion enthalpies are related to other properties of the activated carbons such as the surface area B.E.T., the micropore volume, the content of acid, and basic surface groups. The highest values for the immersion enthalpies take place for the polar solvent CCl4 and for HCl solution, with values between 4.0 and 75.2 J g−1 and 9.15 and 48.3 J g−1, respectively.  相似文献

A method is presented for calculating the contribution that enthalpies make for every component of mixtures of activated carbon–water and activated carbon–hexane to the immersion enthalpy using the concepts that are used in the solution enthalpies. The immersion enthalpies of microporous activated carbon in water and in hexane have values from ?18.97 to ?27.21 and ?25.23 to ?47.89 J g?1, respectively. From the immersion enthalpies and mass relation of the activated carbon in each of the solvents, the differential enthalpies are calculated for the activated carbon in water, HwDIFac, with values between ?15.95 and ?26.81 J g?1, as are the differential enthalpies for the activated carbon in hexane, ΔHhDIFac, with values between ?6.86 and ?46.97 J g?1. For a low mass relation of the mixture components the contributions to the immersion enthalpy of the activated carbon and water differ by 3.20 J g?1, while the difference between the contributions of the activated carbon and hexane is 19.41 J g?1.  相似文献

A simple sensor based on bare carbon ionic liquid electrode was fabricated for simultaneous determination of dihydroxybenzene isomers in 0.1 mol L−1 phosphate buffer solution (pH 6.0). The oxidation peak potential of hydroquinone was about 0.136 V, catechol was about 0.240 V, and resorcinol 0.632 V by differential pulse voltammetric measurements, which indicated that the dihydroxybenzene isomers could be separated absolutely. The sensor showed wide linear behaviors in the range of 5.0 × 10−7–2.0 × 10−4 mol L−1 for hydroquinone and catechol, 3.5 × 10−6–1.535 × 10−4 mol L−1 for resorcinol, respectively. And the detection limits of the three dihydroxybenzene isomers were 5.0 × 10−8, 2.0 × 10−7, 5.0 × 10−7 mol L−1, respectively (S/N = 3). The proposed method could be applied to the determination of dihydroxybenzene isomers in artificial wastewater and the recovery was from 93.9% to 104.6%.  相似文献

A new adsorbent is proposed for the solid-phase extraction of phenol and 1-naphthol from polluted water. The adsorbent (TX-SiO2) is an organosilica composite made from a bifunctional immobilized layer comprising a major fraction (91%) of hydrophilic diol groups and minor fraction (9%) of the amphiphilic long-chain nonionic surfactant Triton X-100 (polyoxyethylated isooctylphenol) (TX). Under static conditions phenol was quantitatively extracted onto TX-SiO2 in the form of a 4-nitrophenylazophenolate ion associate with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide. The capacity of TX-SiO2 for phenol is 2.4 mg g−1 with distribution coefficients up to 3.4 × 104 mL g−1; corresponding data for 1-naphthol are 1.5 mg g−1 and 3 × 103 mL g−1. The distribution coefficient does not change significantly for solution volumes of 0.025–0.5 L and adsorbent mass less than 0.03 g; 1–90 μg analyte can be easily eluted by 1–3 mL acetonitrile with an overall recovery of 98.2% and 78.3% for phenol and 1-naphthol, respectively. Linear correlation between acetonitrile solution absorbance (A 540) and phenol concentration (C) in water was found according to the equation A 540 = (6 ± 1) × 10−2 + (0.9 ± 0.1)C (μmol L−1) with a detection range from 1 × 10−8 mol L−1 (0.9 μL g−1) to 2 × 10−7 mol L−1 (19 μL g−1), a limit of quantification of 1 μL g−1 (preconcentration factor 125), correlation coefficient of 0.936, and relative standard deviation of 2.5%. A solid-phase colorimetric method was developed for quantitative determination of 1-naphthol on adsorbent phase using scanner technology and RGB numerical analysis. The detection limit of 1-naphthol with this method is 6 μL g−1 while the quantification limit is 20 μL g−1. A test system was developed for naked eye monitoring of 1-naphthol impurities in water. The proposed test kit allows one to observe changes in the adsorbent color when 1-naphthol concentration in water is 0.08–3.2 mL g−1.  相似文献

Thermally two-dimensional lattice graphene (GR) and biocompatibility chitosan (CS) act as a suitable support for the deposition of palladium nanoparticles (PdNPs). A novel hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) biosensor based on immobilization of hemoglobin (Hb) in thin film of CS containing GR and PdNPs was developed. The surface morphologies of a set of representative membranes were characterized by means of scanning electron microscopy and showed that the PdNPs are of a sphere shape and an average diameter of 50 nm. Under the optimal conditions, the immobilized Hb showed fast and excellent electrocatalytic activity to H2O2 with a small Michaelis–Menten constant of 16 μmol L−1, a linear range from 2.0 × 10−6 to 1.1 × 10−3 mol L−1, and a detection limit of 6.6 × 10−7 mol L−1. The biosensor also exhibited other advantages, good reproducibility, and long-term stability, and PdNPs/GR–CS nanocomposites film would be a promising material in the preparation of third generation biosensor.  相似文献

A new H2O2 biosensor was fabricated on the basis of nanocomposite films of hemoglobin (Hb), silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), and multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs)–chitosan (Chit) dispersed solution immobilized on glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The immobilized Hb displayed a pair of well-defined and reversible redox peaks with a formal potential (E θ′) of −22.5 mV in 0.1 M pH 7.0 phosphate buffer solution. The apparent heterogeneous electron transfer rate constants (k s) in the Chit–MWNTs film was evaluated as 2.58 s−1 according to Laviron’s equation. The surface concentration (Γ*) of the electroactive Hb in the Chit–MWNTs film was estimated to be (2.48 ± 0.25) × 10−9 mol cm−2. Meanwhile, the Chit–MWNTs/Hb/AgNPs/GCE demonstrated excellently electrocatalytical ability to H2O2. Its apparent Michaelis–Menten constant (K Mapp) for H2O2 was 0.0032 mM, showing a good affinity. Under optimal conditions, the biosensors could be used for the determination of H2O2 ranging from 6.25 × 10−6 to 9.30 × 10−5 mol L−1 with a detection limit of 3.47 × 10−7 mol L−1 (S/N = 3). Furthermore, the biosensor possessed rapid response to H2O2 and good stability, selectivity, and reproducibility.  相似文献

The displacement adsorption enthalpies (ΔH) of denatured α-Amylase (by 1.8 mol L−1 GuHCl) adsorbed onto a moderately hydrophobic surface (PEG-600, the end-group of polyethylene glycol) from solutions (x mol L−1 (NH4)2SO4, 0.05 mol L−1 KH2PO4, pH 7.0) at 298 K are determined by microcalorimeter. Further, entropies (ΔS), Gibbs free energies (ΔG) and the fractions of ΔH, ΔS, and ΔG for net adsorption of protein and net desorption of water are calculated in combination with adsorption isotherms of α-Amylase based on the stoichiometric displacement theory for adsorption (SDT-A) and its thermodynamics. It is found that the displacement adsorptions of denatured α-Amylase onto PEG-600 surface are exothermic and enthalpy driven processes, and the processes of protein adsorption are accompanied with the hydration by which hydrogen bond form between the adsorbed protein molecules favor formation of β-sheet and β-turn structures. The Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis shows that the contents of ordered secondary structures of adsorbed α-Amylase increase with surface coverages and salt concentrations increment.  相似文献

2-[(2-Hydroxyphenylimino)methyl]phenol (H2L1) and 1-[(2-hydroxyphenylimino)methyl]naphthalen-2-ol (H2L2) reacted with copper(II) acetate hydrate and sulfanilamide (Sf1), sulfathiazole (Sf2), sulfaethidole (Sf3), sulfadiazine (Sf4), and sulfadimidine (Sf5) in ethanol to give mixed-ligand copper chelates with the composition Cu(Sf1–5)(L1–2) · n H2O (n = 1, 2). All these complexes are monomeric. Salicylaldehyde imines (H2L1 and H2L2) behave as doubly deprotonated tridentate O,N,O ligands, whereas sulfanilamides (Sf1–5) are unidentate ligands. Thermolysis of the synthesized complexes includes dehydration at 70–90°C, followed by complete thermal decomposition (290–380°C). The complexes [Cu(Sf1)(L1)] · 2H2O and [Cu(Sf3)(L1)] · H2O at a concentration of 10−4 M inhibited growth and reproduction of 100% of human myeloid leukemia cells (HL-60). The inhibitory effect was 90 and 75%, respectively, at a concentration of 10−5 M, whereas no antitumor activity was observed at a concentration of 10−6 M.  相似文献

To determine the solubility product of PuPO4(cr, hyd.) and the complexation constants of Pu(III) with phosphate and EDTA, the solubility of PuPO4(cr, hyd.) was investigated as a function of: (1) time and pH (varied from 1.0 to 12.0), and at a fixed 0.00032 mol⋅L−1 phosphate concentration; (2) NaH2PO4 concentrations varying from 0.0001 mol⋅L−1 to 1.0 mol⋅L−1 and at a fixed pH of 2.5; (3) time and pH (varied from 1.3 to 13.0) at fixed concentrations of 0.00032 mol⋅L−1 phosphate and 0.0004 mol⋅L−1 or 0.002 mol⋅L−1 Na2H2EDTA; and (4) Na2H2EDTA concentrations varying from 0.00005 mol⋅L−1 to 0.0256 mol⋅L−1 at a fixed 0.00032 mol⋅L−1 phosphate concentration and at pH values of approximately 3.5, 10.6, and 12.6. A combination of solvent extraction and spectrophotometric techniques confirmed that the use of hydroquinone and Na2S2O4 helped maintain the Pu as Pu(III). The solubility data were interpreted using the Pitzer and SIT models, and both provided similar values for the solubility product of PuPO4(cr, hyd.) and for the formation constant of PuEDTA. The log 10 of the solubility product of PuPO4(cr, hyd.) [PuPO4(cr, hyd.) \rightleftarrows\rightleftarrows Pu3++PO43-\mathrm{Pu}^{3+}+\mathrm{PO}_{4}^{3-}] was determined to be −(24.42±0.38). Pitzer modeling showed that phosphate interactions with Pu3+ were extremely weak and did not require any phosphate complexes [e.g., PuPO4(aq), PuH2PO42+\mathrm{PuH}_{2}\mathrm{PO}_{4}^{2+}, Pu(H2PO4)2+\mathrm{Pu(H}_{2}\mathrm{PO}_{4})_{2}^{+}, Pu(H2PO4)3(aq), and Pu(H2PO4)4-\mathrm{Pu(H}_{2}\mathrm{PO}_{4})_{4}^{-}] as proposed in existing literature, to explain the experimental solubility data. SIT modeling, however, required the inclusion of PuH2PO42+\mathrm{PuH}_{2}\mathrm{PO}_{4}^{2+} to explain the data in high NaH2PO4 concentrations; this illustrates the differences one can expect when using these two different chemical models to interpret the data. Of the Pu(III)-EDTA species, only PuEDTA was needed to interpret the experimental data over a large range of pH values (1.3–12.9) and EDTA concentrations (0.00005–0.256 mol⋅L−1). Calculations based on density functional theory support the existence of PuEDTA (with prospective stoichiometry as Pu(OH2)3EDTA) as the chemically and structurally stable species. The log 10 value of the complexation constant for the formation of PuEDTA [ Pu3++EDTA4-\rightleftarrows PuEDTA-\mathrm{Pu}^{3+}+\mathrm{EDTA}^{4-}\rightleftarrows \mathrm{PuEDTA}^{-}] determined in this study is −20.15±0.59. The data also showed that PuHEDTA(aq), Pu(EDTA)45-\mathrm{Pu(EDTA)}_{4}^{5-}, Pu(EDTA)(HEDTA)4−, Pu(EDTA)(H2EDTA)3−, and Pu(EDTA)(H3EDTA)2−, although reported in the literature, have no region of dominance in the experimental range of variables investigated in this study.  相似文献

The effect of polymer–salt addition in the activated carbon electrode for electric double-layer capacitor (EDLC) has been investigated. A series of composite thin film electrode consisting of activated carbon, carbon black, polytetrafluoroethylene and polymer–salt complex (polyethyleneoxide–LiClO4) with an appropriate weight ratio were prepared and examined their performance for EDLCs using 1 mol L−1 LiClO4 in ethylene carbonate:diethylcarbonate electrolyte solution. The electrochemical capacitance performances of these electrodes with different compositions were characterized by cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic charge–discharge cycling, and AC impedance measurements. By comparison, the best results were obtained with a composite electrode rich in polymer–salt additive (132 F g−1 at 100 mA g−1 of galvanostatic experiment). In general, the polymer–salt-containing electrode had shown improved performance over activated carbon electrodes without polymer–salt at high current density.  相似文献

No thermodynamic data for Th complexes with aqueous Si are available. To obtain such data, extensive studies on ThO2(am) solubility were carried out as functions of: (1) a wide range of aqueous silica concentrations (0.0004 to 0.14 mol⋅L−1) at fixed pH values of about 10, 11, 12, and 13; and (2) and variable pH (ranging from 10 to 13.3) at fixed aqueous Si concentrations of about 0.006 mol⋅L−1 or 0.018 mol⋅L−1. The samples were equilibrated over long periods (ranging up to 487 days), and the data showed that steady-state concentrations were reached in < 29 days. X-ray diffraction, FTIR, and Raman analyses of the equilibrated solid phases showed that the Th solids were amorphous ThO2(am) containing some adsorbed Si. The solubility of ThO2(am) at pH values ranging from 10 to 13.3 at fixed 0.018 mol⋅L−1 aqueous Si concentrations decreases rapidly with an increase in pH, and increases dramatically with an increase in Si concentrations beyond about 0.003 mol⋅L−1 at fixed pH values > 10. The data were interpreted using both the Pitzer and SIT models, and required only the inclusion of one mixed-hydroxy-silica complex of Th [Th(OH)3(H3SiO4)32−]. Both models provided similar complexation constant values for the formation of this species. Density functional theory calculations predict complexes of this stoichiometry, having six-fold coordination of the Th cation, to be structurally stable. Predictions based on the fitted value of log 10 K 0=−18.5±0.7 for the ThO2(am) solubility reaction involving Th(OH)3(H3SiO4)32−[ThO2(am)+3H4SiO4+H2OTh(OH)3(H3SiO4)32−+2H+], along with the thermodynamic data for aqueous Si species reported in the literature, agreed closely with the extensive experimental data and showed that under alkaline conditions aqueous Si makes very strong complexes with Th.  相似文献

A new series of dioxouranium(VI) complexes of a potential ONNO tetradentate donor 2-aminobenzoylhydrazone of butane-2,3-dione (L1H2) have been synthesized. At pH 2·5–4·0, the donor (L1H2) reacts in the keto form and complexes of the type [UO2(L1H2)(X)2] (X=Cl, Br, NO 3 , NCS, ClO 4 , CH3COO, 1/2SO 4 2− ) are obtained. At higher pH (6·5–7), the complex of the enol form having the formula [UO2(L1)(H2O)] has been isolated. On reaction with a monodentate lewis base (B), both types of complexes yield adducts of the type [UO2(L1)(B)]. All these complexes have been characterised adequately by elemental analyses and other standard physicochemical techniques. Location of the bonding sites of the donor molecule around the uranyl ion, status of the uranium-oxygen bond and the probable structure of the complexes have also been discussed.  相似文献

Biologically important bicyclic species, including 6H-, 6H-6-aza-, and 6-oxabenzocycloheptatrienes (in which the benzene moiety is fused meta with respect to the tetrahedral constituents: –CH2–, –NH–, and –O–, respectively), show strong shifts of tautomerizations in favor of the corresponding tricyclic benzonorcaradienes (with ΔH values of −11.49, −14.55, and −19.20 kcal mol−1, respectively), at B3LYP/6-311++G**//B3LYP/6-31G*, and MP2/6-311++G**//MP2/6-31G* levels, and at 298 K. In contrast, such shifts are strongly disfavored by the isomeric bicyclic species in which the benzene moieties are fused ortho or para with respect to –CH2–, –NH–, and –O–, respectively. Hence for species with ortho benzene rings including 5H-, 5H-5-aza- and 5-oxabenzocycloheptatrienes, tautomerization ΔH values are 30.76, 31.89, and 25.27 kcal mol−1, respectively, while for species with para fused benzene moieties including 7H-, 7H-7-aza-, and 7-oxabenzocycloheptatrienes, tautomerization ΔH values are 24.12, 26.00, and 19.55 kcal mol−1, respectively. NICS calculations are successfully used to rationalize these results. The calculated energy barriers for inversion of the seven-membered rings of bicyclic species predict a dynamic nature for all the structures except for the virtually planar 6H-6-aza- and 6-oxabenzocycloheptatrienes. Finally, our theoretical data are compared to the experimental results where available. The effect of the concentration of water on the rate of reduction of molecular nitrogen to hydrazine by niobium(iii) hydroxide in alkaline H2O−MeOH and D2O−MeOD mixtures was studied. In both cases, the reaction rate is maximum when [H2O]=4 mol L−1, and the inverse isotopic effect (K D/k H>1) is observed when [H2O]<20 mol L−1. Similar regularity was observed for the reaction of hydrogen elimination. It was found that HD is formed in the H2O−MeOH system in the presence of D2. The conclusion was made that the ratedetermining stage in hydrazine formation is the transfer of a hydride ion to the dinitrogen molecule coordinated to the binuclear NbIII center. A kinetic scheme satisfactorily explaining the effect of the concentration of water ([H2O]=1.5−49.0 mol L−1) on the reaction rate constant was proposed. Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Both microcalorimetric determination of displacement adsorption enthalpies ΔH and measurement of adsorbed amounts of guanidine – denatured lysozyme (Lys) refolding on the surface of hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC) packings at 308 K were carried out and compared with that at 298 K. Study shows that both temperature and concentration of guanidine hydrochloride (GuHCl) affect the molecular mechanism of hydrophobic interaction of protein with adsorbent based on the analysis of dividing ΔH values into three kinds of enthalpy fractions. The adsorption in higher concentrations of GuHCl (>1.3 mol L–1) at 308 K is an enthalpy-driving process, and the adsorption under other GuHCl concentrations is an entropy-driving process. The fact that the Lys denatured by 1.8 mol L–1 GuHCl forms a relatively stable intermediate state under the studied conditions will not be changed by temperature.  相似文献

Ruthenium nanoparticles stabilized by L1 have been prepared by the solvent-free reduction of 1 with hydrogen or by reducing [(arene)Ru(H2O)3]SO4 in ethanol in the presence of L1 with hydrogen. These complexes and nanoparticles show a high anticancer activity towards human ovarian cell lines, the highest cytotoxicity being obtained for complex 2 (IC50 = 2 μM for A2780 and 7 μM for A2780cisR).  相似文献
