This paper is concerned with the application of the Kramer sampling theorem to Sturm–Liouville problems with coupled boundary conditions. The analysis is restricted to the case when the spectrum of the boundary value problem is simple. In all such cases, it is shown that Kramer analytic kernels can be defined and that each kernel has an associated analytic interpolation function to give the Lagrange interpolation series.  相似文献

In this paper the convergence behavior of the Shannon sampling series is analyzed for Hardy spaces. It is well known that the Shannon sampling series is locally uniformly convergent. However, for practical applications the global uniform convergence is important. It is shown that there are functions in the Hardy space such that the Shannon sampling series is not uniformly convergent on the whole real axis. In fact, there exists a function in this space such that the peak value of the Shannon sampling series diverges unboundedly. The proof uses Fefferman’s theorem, which states that the dual space of the Hardy space is the space of functions of bounded mean oscillation. A celebrated result of Morse and Hedlund, stated in 1938, asserts that a sequence xx over a finite alphabet is ultimately periodic if and only if, for some nn, the number of different factors of length nn appearing in xx is less than n+1n+1. Attempts to extend this fundamental result, for example, to higher dimensions, have been considered during the last fifteen years. Let d≥2d2. A legitimate extension to a multidimensional setting of the notion of periodicity is to consider sets of ZdZd definable by a first order formula in the Presburger arithmetic 〈Z;<,+〉Z;<,+. With this latter notion and using a powerful criterion due to Muchnik, we exhibit a complete extension of the Morse–Hedlund theorem to an arbitrary dimension dd and characterize sets of ZdZd definable in 〈Z;<,+〉Z;<,+ in terms of some functions counting recurrent blocks, that is, blocks occurring infinitely often.  相似文献

Schmidt showed in 1969 that, for each non-quadratic irrational real number ξ, there exists a constant c > 0 with the property that, for arbitrarily large values of X, the inequalities\( \left| {{x_0}} \right| \leqslant X,\,\,\,\left| {{x_0}\xi - {x_1}} \right| \leqslant c{X^{{{{ - 1}} \left/ {\gamma } \right.}}}\,\,\,{\text{and}}\,\,\,\left| {{x_0}{\xi^2} - {x_2}} \right| \leqslant c{X^{{{{ - 1}} \left/ {\gamma } \right.}}} \)admit no non-zero solution \( \left( {{x_0},{x_1},{x_2}} \right) \in {\mathbb{Z}^3} \). Their result is best possible in the sense that, conversely, there are countably many non-quadratic irrational real numbers ξ such that, for a larger value of c, the same inequalities admit a non-zero integer solution for each X ≥ 1. Such extremal numbers are transcendental and their set is stable under the action of \( {\text{G}}{{\text{L}}_2}\left( \mathbb{Z} \right) \) on \( \mathbb{R}\backslash \mathbb{Q} \) by linear fractional transformations. In this paper, it is shown that there exist extremal numbers ξ for which the Lagrange constant ν(ξ) = liminf q→∞ q||qξ|| is \( \frac{1}{3} \), the largest possible value for a non-quadratic number, and that there is a natural bijection between the \( {\text{G}}{{\text{L}}_2}\left( \mathbb{Z} \right) \)-equivalence classes of such numbers and the non-trivial solutions of Markoff’s equation.  相似文献

Given a (conservative) symmetric Markov process on a metric space we consider related bilinear forms that generalize the energy form for a particle in an electromagnetic field. We obtain one bilinear form by semigroup approximation and another, closed one, by using a Feynman–Kac–Itô formula. If the given process is Feller, its energy measures have densities and its jump measure has a kernel, then the two forms agree on a core and the second is a closed extension of the first. In this case we provide the explicit form of the associated Hamiltonian.  相似文献

Computer performance is an important issue for engineering and economic aspects of computer usage, planning, design and research. The Co-plot methodology graphically relates attributes, observations and interrelations between attributes, thus enabling the simultaneous study of all the observations and variables of a given data set. An analysis of performance attributes of computers from the 1980's (1981–1991) was carried out according to the Co-plot methodology. The analysis shows that during this decade, computer performance became more dependent on IO rate, cache size and multiprocessing, and less dependent on memory-size and IO addressing capabilities. At the same time, the high correlation between CPU speed and performance was maintained.  相似文献
