In this contribution we report the research and development of 1.55 μm InGaAsP/InP gain-coupled DFB laser with an improved injection-carrier induced grating and of high performance 1.3 μm and 1.55 μm InGaAsP/InP FP and DFB lasers for communications. Long wavelength strained MQW laser diodes with a very low threshold current (7–10 mA) have been fabricated. Low pressure MOVPE technology has been employed for the preparation of the layered structure. A novel gain-coupled DFB laser structure with an improved injection-carrier modulated grating has been proposed and fabricated. The laser structures have been prepared by hybrid growth of MOVPE and LPE techniques and reasonably good characteristics have been achieved for resultant lasers. High performance 1.3 μm and 1.55 μm InGaAsP/InP DFB lasers have successfully been developed for CATV and trunk line optical fiber communication. We report a polymer waveguide module that provides bidirectional communication over a single plastic optical fiber (POF) with dual visible wavelength LEDs. The module is constructed using light-induced self-written waveguides, which enables a three-dimensional optical circuit for visible wavelength division multiplexing to be fabricated by an extremely simple process. We demonstrated 250 Mbits/s communication using a pair of these modules that each contained one green (lambda = 495 nm) and one red (lambda = 650 nm) LEDs by measuring the bit error rates. The results indicate that the system could transmit over more than 20 m of POF in full duplex mode.  相似文献

We demonstrate wavelength division multiplexing with chaotic subcarriers in two pairs of one-way-coupled Nd:YVO4 microchip lasers. Two individual digital messages are encoded on two chaotic carriers with different wavelengths in two transmitters by the chaotic masking method, and the mixed signals are sent to two receivers. Dual synchronization of chaos is used to obtain the original chaotic waveforms in the receivers. Two messages are decoded by filtering the difference of the laser outputs between the transmitter and the receiver by use of a low-pass filter for each pair of lasers. The message recovery can be achieved more easily when messages with small amplitude and low frequency are used.  相似文献

Recent progress is reviewed in surface-normal optoelectronic devices primarily for use in optical switching and information processing. A type of optoelectronic integrated circuit (OEIC), the surface-normal two-dimensional array, is fabricated using these devices. This improves on first-generation OEICs by featuring large-scale integration in a small area, which results in a higher production yield. It also has structures which can easily be integrated with electronic circuits and can meet multichannel requirements. This approach supports optoelectronic progress towards optical information processing.  相似文献

 为了找到一种安全、高速的图像加密方法,通过计算明文和密文的信息熵、灰度值等参数,研究了利用光电器件,采用流密码和位平面分解相结合的加密方法的安全性和该方案的抗破译能力。结果表明,该方案中, 对含信息量越少的图像,加密后平均灰度变化值越大;这种灰度变换的加密方法掩盖了各像素点之间的相关性,密文像素点灰度随机分布,分析者无法获得明文图像的灰度分布状况,使得分析者无法通过相关度分析提取图像轮廓,有效隐藏重要信息。因此,该加密方法具有极高的安全性,同时应将密文平均灰度值作为评价参数之一。  相似文献

We experimentally investigate the gain saturation effect of a piece of 8 m long Erbium doped fiber (EDF), we introduce a theoretical model for the EDF ring loop, and our simulation results show very good cross-gain modulation (XGM) and wavelength conversion. We also experimentally investigate the XGM in an EDF ring loop system. Based on the study of the XGM in the EDF ring loop system, a wavelength conversion is designed with the EDF ring loop system. The EDF ring loop systems as a wavelength conversion is experimentally demonstrated by converting a sinusoidal modulated optical signal at wavelength of 1551 nm to an optical signal at wavelength of 1553.3 nm.  相似文献

基于两个在驱动混沌信号注入下的响应半导体激光器之间的混沌同步, 提出了一种新型的可实现信息双向、长距离保密传输的系统, 并建立了相应的理论模型. 利用该理论模型, 研究了系统的双向传输性能、 安全性能以及系统性能随传输距离的变化. 结果表明: 两个响应激光器在受到发自同一驱动混沌激光器的混沌光注入下, 其混沌输出虽然与注入混沌信号相差很大, 但两个响应激光器的混沌输出却能实现非常好的无时间延迟的等时同步; 对窃听者可能获取信息的各个途径进行了考察, 结果显示该系统具有很好的安全性; 采用普通单模光纤作为传输信道, 信息经过50 km传输后, 解调信息Q因子可达到6以上; 采用色散位移光纤, 信息经过200 km的传输, 解调信息Q因子还可达6以上.  相似文献

Characteristics of a tunable wavelength filter in extrinsic Fabry-Perot of optical fiber are studied both theoretically and experimentally in this paper. Using a slabby PZT-51, a tuning range of over 10nm is achieved by changing the distance between two fiber end faces. We chose a SLED to provide incident light into the filter and achieved a filter with narrow passband(subnanometer bandwidth). The basic characteristics of the filter, as well as the special properties of its output spectrum, are discussed and analyzed.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigated the post-, pre- and symmetrical power compensation methods for a different position of hybrid optical amplifier RAMAN–EDFA in fiber link. The effect of increase in signal input power for three power compensation methods is compared in terms of bit error rate, eye closure penalty and output received power. It is found that the post power compensation method is superior to pre- and symmetrical power compensation methods. Further, the effect of variation in length of the standard single mode fiber and dispersion-compensated fiber for three power compensation configurations has also been observed. We observed that RAMAN–EDFA as post power compensation method provides least bit error rate (10?40) and high output power (12 dBm) at ?15 dBm signal input power at fiber link.  相似文献

We present a continuous-wave-pumped fiber optical parametric amplifier, operating near 1539 nm in conventional dispersion-shifted fiber, with maximum on-off gain and wavelength-conversion efficiency of 13.7 and 13.1 dB, respectively. In addition, we show a novel configuration based on Raman amplification assistance in the parametric gain fiber that further increases the gain and wavelength-conversion efficiencies to 16.7 and 16.2 dB, respectively.  相似文献

This paper deals with the placement of semiconductor optical amplifier for 10 Gb/s non-return to zero format in single mode and dispersion-compensated fiber link. We investigated post-, pre- and symmetrical power compensation methods for different positions of the SOA in fiber link. The effect of increase in signal input power for the three power compensation methods is compared in terms of eye diagram, bit error rate, eye closure penalty and output received power. It is found that the post-power compensation method is superior to pre- and symmetrical power compensation methods. Further, the effect of variation in length of the standard single mode fiber and dispersion-compensated fiber for three power compensation configurations has also been observed. The impact of eye closure penalty is observed for large transmission distances for different signal input powers.  相似文献
