Stability and Transition on a Swept Cylinder in a Supersonic Flow   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Results of experimental investigations of the evolution of natural disturbances and laminar–turbulent transition in a supersonic boundary layer on the attachment line of a circular cylinder with a sweep angle of 68° and a freestream Mach number M = 2 are presented. The experimental studies are supplemented by calculations of the mean flow and stability characteristics. Flow regimes in the boundary layer on the attachment line are determined by a hotwire technique as functions of the Reynolds number and height of twodimensional roughness elements. The results are compared with NASA (Ames) experiments.  相似文献

A new analytical solution is introduced for the effect of viscous dissipation on mixed convection flow and heat transfer about an isothermal vertical wall embedded in Darcy and non-Darcy porous media with uniform free stream velocity. The effect of viscous dissipation on mixed convection in both regimes has been analyzed for both the aiding and opposing flows using Gebhart number, Ge x =gx/c p. The governing parameters are Re, Ra, Pe and Ge x . The case of Re=0 corresponds to Darcy mixed convection region and Re/Pe is identified as the mixed convection governing parameter, Ra=0 leading to pure forced convection. A good agreement was found between the numerical and analytical solutions. It was found from the Nusselt number results that viscous dissipation lowers the heat transfer rate in both Darcy and Forchheimer flow regimes for aiding as well as opposing flows.  相似文献

In the paper anomalous diffusion appearing in a porous medium composed of two porous components of considerably different diffusion characteristics is examined. The differences in diffusivities are supposed to result either from two medium types being present or from variations in pore size (double porosity media). The long-tail effect is predicted using the homogenization approach based on the application of multiple scale asymptotic developments. It is shown that, if the ratio of effective diffusion coefficients of two porous media is of the order of magnitude smaller or equal O( 2), where is a homogenization parameter, then the macroscopic behaviour of the composite may be affected by the presence of tail-effect. The results of the theoretical analysis were applied to a problem of diffusion in a bilaminate composite. In recent years there have appeared several experimental studies [1–5] which have shown that there are cases of turbulent flow with an asymmetric distribution of the flow velocity and in which at the point where the velocity derivative is zero the turbulent shear stress is not zero. This raises the question of the connection of the Reynolds stress tensor with the characteristics of the average flow. The relationships used in the usual mixing length theory connect the shear stress with the local value of the flow velocity derivative and are not consistent with the experimental results mentioned above. These relationships are based on the assumption that the mixing length is small in comparison with the characteristic length of the flow. Experiment shows that this assumption is not justified [6].Thus, turbulent diffusion refers to the case of diffusion with a large mean free path. In addition to the concept of gradient diffusion, there is also the concept of bulk convection or integral diffusion [10], which means a transfer mechanism in which the shear stress is not expressed in terms of the velocity gradient. The generalization of mixing length theory proposed in [11–14] is based on the very simple kinetic equation which was used for the examination of turbulent transfer problems in [8] and which is encountered in the treatment of transport problems in gases, neutron diffusion, and radiative energy transfer.The proposed generalization of mixing length theory employs an analogy with the indicated processes and permits the derivation of formulas which are valid for large mean free paths. In the case of small mean free paths the obtained relationships lead to the relationships for diffusion in a continuous medium and, in particular, to the relationships of the Prandtl mixing length theory. The integral diffusion model is a phenomenological semiempirical theory in which empirical constants and several hypotheses common in mixing length theory are used. A very general analysis of the expression for the shear stress leads to the conclusion that if the flow is asymmetric over a distance comparable with the mixing length the points at which the velocity derivative and the turbulent shear stress are zero do not coincide [12]. Hence, it is to be hoped that the integral diffusion model will allow treatment of the above questions, which cause difficulty in the case of ordinary mixing length theory. The objective of this paper is to present an overview of the fundamental equations governing transport phenomena in compressible reservoirs. A general mathematical model is presented for important thermo-mechanical processes operative in a reservoir. Such a formulation includes equations governing multiphase fluid (gas-water-hydrocarbon) flow, energy transport, and reservoir skeleton deformation. The model allows phase changes due to gas solubility. Furthermore, Terzaghi's concept of effective stress and stress-strain relations are incorporated into the general model. The functional relations among various model parameters which cause the nonlinearity of the system of equations are explained within the context of reservoir engineering principles. Simplified equations and appropriate boundary conditions have also been presented for various cases. A mathematical model of mechanics of a twovelocity twotemperature mixture of gases is developed. Based on this model, evolution of the mixing layer of two gases with different densities under the action of shock and compression waves is considered by methods of mathematical simulation in the onedimensional unsteady approximation. In the asymptotic approximation of the full model, a solution of an initialboundary problem is obtained, which describes the formation of a diffusion layer between two gases. Problems of interaction of shock and compression waves with the diffusion layer are solved numerically in the full formulation. It is shown that the layer is compressed as the shock wave traverses it; the magnitude of compression depends on shockwave intensity. As the shock wave passes from the heavy gas to the light gas, the mixing layer becomes overcompressed and expands after shockwave transition. The wave pattern of the flow is described in detail. The calculated evolution of the mixinglayer width is in good agreement with experimental data.  相似文献

The effect of dynamic prehistory of the flow and the channelexpansion ratio on aerodynamics of a steady separated laminar flow behind a rectangular backwardfacing step located in a planeparallel channel is numerically studied. It is shown that the boundary layer upstream of the flow separation exerts a strong effect on flow characteristics behind the step. A decrease in the boundarylayer thickness in the cross section of the step leads to a decrease in the separationregion length, and an increase in the channelexpansion ratio with a fixed initial boundarylayer thickness and Reynolds number leads to an increase in the separationregion length.  相似文献

The behavior of the neutral stability curves is investigated for various values of the particle relaxation time and mass concentration 0 100 and 0 f 0.1. It is shown that as increases from zero the flow is at first destabilized and then at >6 becomes stable, while at >40 the stabilizing effect of the dispersed phase grows weaker. It is shown that the shearing stresses in rotors of screw-compressors may be obtained in this way.

An analytical and numerical study of protective properties of hotair screens is performed for a plane wave with a triangular profile. The reduction of the shockwave pressure behind the screen is only observed at temperatures higher a certain critical value; at lower temperatures, the pressure is higher than that in a shock wave traveling in an isothermal gas. With allowance for real properties of air, an analytical relation between the critical temperature of the hot screen and the incidentwave intensity is obtained.  相似文献

We study and obtain formulas for the asymptotic behavior as ¦x¦ of C 2 solutions of the semilinear equation u=f(x, u), x (*) where is the complement of some ball in n and f is continuous and nonlinear in u. If, for large x, f is nearly radially symmetric in x, we give conditions under which each positive solution of (*) is asymptotic, as ¦x¦, to some radially symmetric function. Our results can also be useful when f is only bounded above or below by a function which is radially symmetric in x or when the solution oscillates in sign. We are concerned with the coerciveness of the strain energy E(u) (in linear elasticity) associated with a displacement vector u on the Sobolev space H1 () or its subspaces, a domain in n representing an isotropic elastic body—certain specific cases are called Korn's inequalities. This paper contains pressure-temperature diagrams for 6 properties and 16 first derivatives and combined terms for water and steam. These were calculated from a system of equations accepted by the 6th International Conference on the Properties of Steam, and called The 1968 IFC Formulation For Scientific and General Use. Some consequences of thermodynamic consistency, and the behaviour in the critical region and at very small pressures are discussed. Further, the kinematic viscosity and the thermal diffusivity and a relation between the dynamic viscosity and the throttling coefficient at constant enthalpy are given.

The problem of hypersonic flow over a flat delta plate with a high sweepback anglex at angles of attack close to /2 is solved using a numerical algorithm based on transition to the conical solution. The existence of conical flow at /2 with the velocity vector directed towards the apex of the plate is established. Values ofC p/sin2 and the thickness of the shock layer in the plane of symmetry of the plate are given as functions of the hypersonic similarity parameterk=tan tanx. Summary A general similarity solution suggested by Watson for the problem of the laminar, radial, free-jet with swirl has been previously discussed by Riley who also calculated the order to which the solution was valid. That problem is considered in more detail here and higher order terms are given. It is shown that a perturbation scheme for the stream function consisting of a series of inverse powers of and which uses the asymptotic similarity solution as the basic solution is inadequate, and a modification to the series so as to include terms like n (ln ) m must be adopted in order to satisfy the boundary conditions. It is also shown that the general similarity solution may be obtained from the asymptotic series representing the general case with swirl for certain special values of the free constants and also for the no-swirl or free-jet problem. The asymptotic series is given to order –13 for the case of swirl and to order –29 when there is no swirl.  相似文献

The question of determining the law of damping for the turbulent diffusion coefficient at a smooth wall according to data on mass and heat transfer for Pr 1 is discussed. It is proved that the hypothesis that this law is determined by the first member of the Taylor series expansion of , namely, / = yn + is valid in the Pr range from 103 to 105 only under the assumption that the subsequent terms in the expansion have smaller coefficients. A statistical analysis of electrochemical and other experiments devoted to this problem shows that apparently n = 3, but singularities in the experimental results do not permit making a final conclusion. Experimental evidence is presented to show that when cross-linked natural rubber samples are heated in air whilst subject to a pure shear strain and subsequently freed of all forces the new force-free or set state is not related to the original force-free state by a pure shear. During a pure shear linear elements along one of the principal directions of strain remain unchanged in length; it is shown that these elements undergo an increase in length as a result of the recovery after heating. The results are compared with the predictions of the two-network theory of permanent set propounded by previous workers.
Zusammenfassung Vernetzte Naturkautschuk-Proben, in Luft erhitzt, zeigen bei gleicher Beanspruchung mit reiner Scherung und anschließender Entlastung einen neuen spannungsfreien (oder gesetzten) Zustand, der mit dem ursprünglichen spannungsfreien Zustand nicht durch eine reine Scherung in Beziehung steht. Durch eine solche bleiben lineare Elemente entlang einer der Hauptachsen der Spannung in ihrer Länge unverändert; es. wird gezeigt, daß diese Elemente an Länge bei der Erholung nach dem Aufheizen zunehmen. Die Resultate werden mit den Voraussagen der Zweinetzwerk-Theorie des permanent set der Autoren verglichen.

The flow of an adiabatic gas through a porous media is treated analytically for steady one- and two-dimensional flows. The effect on a compressible Darcy flow by inertia and Forchheimer terms is studied. Details of a new technique in pulsed wire anemometry, developed to allow measurement of two-point spatial velocity correlations in highly turbulent flows, are described. An outline of the interface devices necessary for linking two anemometers to a microcomputer is given and examples of the use of the technique are presented. Firstly, measurements of spatial correlations with and without time delay in the near wake of a nominally two-dimensional cylinder normal to a uniform stream confirmed the viability of the technique. Secondly, measurements in the highly turbulent, separated region behind a normal flat plate fitted with a downstream splitter plate are presented as a demonstration of the effectiveness of the technique in such difficult flows. We believe that these are the first direct measurement of spatial correlation functions within a separated flow.  相似文献
