Corrigendum to “Enantioselective alkylation and protonation of prochiral enolates in the asymmetric synthesis of β-amino acids” [Tetrahedron 59 (2003) 4223]

This paper describes work that corrects the synthetic procedures reported in the title paper for the preparation of novel chiral phenolic acids (S)-11, (S)-13, (S,S)-12 and (S,S)-14. Unlike the results provided in the article being reexamined, protonation of prochiral enolates 2-Li and 3-Li with chiral Brønsted acids 11-14 proceeded with negligible enantioselectivity.     

An expedient approach to substituted triazolo[1,5-a][1,4]benzodiazepines via Cu-catalyzed tandem Ullmann C–N coupling/azide-alkyne cycloaddition

An approach to the synthesis of triazolo[1,5-a][1,4]benzodiazepines comprising copper catalyzed tandem Ullmann C–N coupling followed by azide-alkyne cycloaddition has been described. The reaction of o-azidobenzylbromide and N-propargylated aniline derivatives in the presence of CuI and base leads to the formation of triazolo[1,5-a][1,4]benzodiazepines. The reaction has been successfully generalized by synthesizing a number of triazolo[1,5-a][1,4]benzodiazepine derivatives in good to excellent yields.     

Cascade synthesis of pyrido[3,2-a]indolizines by reaction of Kröhnke–Mukaiyama salts with malononitrile dimer

An efficient protocol for the synthesis of highly functionalized 2-aminoindolizines and pyrido[3,2-a]indolizines has been achieved via the reaction of N-RC(O)CH₂-2-chloropyridinium bromides with 2-amino-1,1,3-tricyanopropene in the presence of Et₃N. The reaction of N-allyl-2-chloropyridinium bromide with 2-amino-1,1,3-tricyanopropene in the presence of Et₃N gives 3-[1-allylpyridin-2(1Н)-ylidene]-2-aminoprop-1-ene-1,1,3-tricarbonitrile, which could be cyclized to give [2-amino-(2-amino-3-vinylindolizin-1-yl)methylene]malononitrile upon treatment with KOH–DMF.
