We are concerned with the global existence of entropy solutions of the two-dimensional steady Euler equations for an ideal gas, which undergoes a one-step exothermic chemical reaction under the Arrhenius-type kinetics. The reaction rate function ?(T) is assumed to have a positive lower bound. We first consider the Cauchy problem (the initial value problem), that is, seek a supersonic downstream reacting flow when the incoming flow is supersonic, and establish the global existence of entropy solutions when the total variation of the initial data is sufficiently small. Then we analyze the problem of steady supersonic, exothermically reacting Euler flow past a Lipschitz wedge, generating an additional detonation wave attached to the wedge vertex, which can be then formulated as an initial-boundary value problem. We establish the global existence of entropy solutions containing the additional detonation wave (weak or strong, determined by the wedge angle at the wedge vertex) when the total variation of both the slope of the wedge boundary and the incoming flow is suitably small. The downstream asymptotic behavior of the global solutions is also obtained. 相似文献

This paper is concerned with the existence of global continuous solutions of the expansion of a wedge of gas into a vacuum for compressible Euler equations. By hodograph transformation, we first prove that the flow is governed by a partial differential equation of second order, which is further reduced to a system of two nonhomogeneous linearly degenerate equations in the phase space under an irrotationality condition. Then this conclusion is applied to solving the problem that a wedge of gas expands into a vacuum, which is actually a Goursat-type problem for these two equations in the supersonic domain. 相似文献

In this paper we will present upper bounds for the length of a shortest closed geodesic on a manifold M diffeomorphic to the standard two-dimensional sphere. The first result is that the length of a shortest closed geodesic l(M) is bounded from above by 4r , where r is the radius of M . (In particular that means that l(M) is bounded from above by 2d, when M can be covered by a ball of radius d/2, where d is the diameter of M.) The second result is that l(M) is bounded from above by 2( max{r1,r2}+r1+r2), when M can be covered by two closed metric balls of radii r1,r2 respectively. For example, if r1 = r2= d/2 , thenl(M) 3d. The third result is that l(M) 2(max{r1,r2r3}+r1+r2+r3), when M can be covered by three closed metric balls of radii r1,r2,r3. Let Mn be a closed Riemannian manifold with a nontrivial second homology group. In this paper we prove that there exists a geodesic net on Mn of length at most 3 diameter(Mn). Moreover, this geodesic net is either a closed geodesic, consists of two geodesic loops emanating from the same point, or consists of three geodesic segments between the same endpoints. Geodesic nets can be viewed as the critical points of the length functional on the space of graphs immersed into a Riemannian manifold. One can also consider other natural functionals on the same space, in particular, the maximal length of an edge. We prove that either there exists a closed geodesic of length ≤ 2 diameter(Mn), or there exists a critical point of this functional on the space of immersed θ-graphs such that the value of the functional does not exceed the diameter of Mn. In this paper, we perform a nonlinear multiscale analysis for incompressible Euler equations with rapidly oscillating initial data. The initial condition for velocity field is assumed to have two scales. The fast scale velocity component is periodic and is of order one.One of the important questions is how the two-scale velocity structure propagates in time and whether nonlinear interaction will generate more scales dynamically. By using a Lagrangian framework to describe the propagation of small scale solution, we show that the two-scale structure is preserved dynamically. Moreover, we derive a well-posed homogenized equation for the incompressible Euler equations. Preliminary numerical experiments are presented to demonstrate that the homogenized equation captures the correct averaged solution of the incompressible Euler equation. 相似文献
