Let π be an irreducible unitary cuspidal representation of GLm(AQ) with m ≥ 2, and L(s, Tr) the L-function attached to π. Under the Generalized Riemann Hypothesis for L(s,π), we estimate the normal density of primes in short intervals for the automorphic L-function L(s, π). Our result generalizes the corresponding theorem of Selberg for the Riemann zeta-function.  相似文献

Let D be an infinite division ring. A famous result due to Herstein says that every non-central element of D has infinitely many conjugates and so, if D * is an FC-group, then D is a field. Let M be a maximal subgroup of GL n (D), where n ≥ 1. In this paper, we prove that if M is an FC-group, then it is the multiplicative group of some maximal subfield of M n (D). Moreover, if M is algebraic over Z(D), then [D : Z(D)] < ∞.  相似文献

A subgroup H of a finite group G is said to be c*-supplemented in G if there exists a subgroup K such that G = HK and HK is permutable in G. It is proved that a finite group G that is S 4-free is p-nilpotent if N G (P) is p-nilpotent and, for all xG\N G (P), every minimal subgroup of is c*-supplemented in P and (if p = 2) one of the following conditions is satisfied: (a) every cyclic subgroup of of order 4 is c*-supplemented in P, (b) , (c) P is quaternion-free, where P a Sylow p-subgroup of G and is the p-nilpotent residual of G. Let H be an atomic monoid. For let denote the set of all with the following property: There exist atoms (irreducible elements) u 1, …, u k , v 1, …, v m H with u 1· … · u k = v 1 · … · v m . We show that for a large class of noetherian domains satisfying some natural finiteness conditions, the sets are almost arithmetical progressions. Suppose that H is a Krull monoid with finite cyclic class group G such that every class contains a prime (this includes the multiplicative monoids of rings of integers of algebraic number fields). Let be a set of finite groups. A group G is saturated with groups from if every finite subgroup of G is contained in a subgroup isomorphic to some member of . The j-function j(z) = q−1+ 744 + 196884q + ⋅s plays an important role in many problems. In [7], Zagier, presented an interesting series of functions obtained from the j-function: jm(ζ) = (j(ζ) – 744)∨T0(m), where T0(m) is the usual m′th normalized weight 0 Hecke operator. In [3], Bruinier et al. show how this series of functions can be used to describe all meromorphic modular forms on SL2(ℤ). Lower estimates for the maximal weight multiplicities in irreducible representations of the algebraic groups of type C n in characteristic p ≤ 7 are found. If n ≥ 8 and p ≠ 2 , then for an irreducible representation either such a multiplicity is at least n− 4 − [n]4,where [n]4 is the residue of n modulo 4, or all the weight multiplicities are equal to 1.For p = 2, the situation is more complicated, and for every n and l there exists a class of representations with the maximal weight multiplicity equal to 2 l . For symplectic groups in characteristic p > 7 and spinor groups similar results were obtained earlier. Bibliography: 15 titles.  相似文献

It is shown that the problem of describing those subgroups in the general linear group GL(n, R) which are normalized by a classical group is much more difficult than believed previously. For the case of even orthogonal groups, a thorough level calculation is performed, which shows that, even under the assumption 2 ∈ R*, the level of a subgroup H ≤ GL(2l, R), l ≥ 3, normalized by EO(2l, R), is determined by three ideals (A, B, C) in R rather than by two ideals, as was generally believed. These ideals are related by C 2A = BC, and triples of such ideals are said to be admissible. Here, A is the level of H with respect to the linear transvections t ij (ξ), and B is the level of H with respect to the orthogonal transvections T ij (ξ). The definition of the third level component is a little more complicated. In an appropriate realization, the Lie algebra of the even orthogonal group consists of matrices antisymmetric with respect to the skew diagonal. The component C is the level of H with respect to the complementary invariant subspace, which consists of matrices symmetric with respect to the skew diagonal. With any admissible triple (A, B, C) we associate a relative elementary subgroup EEO(2l, R, A, B, C), which is normalized by EO(2l, R) and, moreover, is EO(2l, R)-perfect.  相似文献

Consider a finite group G. A subgroup is called S-quasinormal whenever it permutes with all Sylow subgroups of G. Denote by B sG the largest S-quasinormal subgroup of G lying in B. A subgroup B is called S-supplemented in G whenever there is a subgroup T with G = BT and BTB sG . A subgroup L of G is called a quaternionic subgroup whenever G has a section A/B isomorphic to the order 8 quaternion group such that LA and LB = 1. A b-coloring of a graph is a coloring such that every color class admits a vertex adjacent to at least one vertex receiving each of the colors not assigned to it. The b-chromatic number of a graph G, denoted by χ b (G), is the maximum number t such that G admits a b-coloring with t colors. A graph G is b-continuous if it admits a b-coloring with t colors, for every . We define a graph G to be b-monotonic if χ b (H 1) ≥ χ b (H 2) for every induced subgraph H 1 of G, and every induced subgraph H 2 of H 1. In this work, we prove that P 4-sparse graphs (and, in particular, cographs) are b-continuous and b-monotonic. Besides, we describe a dynamic programming algorithm to compute the b-chromatic number in polynomial time within these graph classes. We prove that for a fixed integer s2 every K s,s -free graph of average degree at least r contains a K p minor where . A well-known conjecture on the existence of dense K s,s -free graphs would imply that the value of the exponent is best possible. Our result implies Hadwigers conjecture for K s,s -free graphs whose chromatic number is sufficiently large compared with s.  相似文献

We consider the solutions of refinement equations written in the form
where the vector of functions ϕ = (ϕ 1, ..., ϕ r ) T is unknown, g is a given vector of compactly supported functions on ℝ s , a is a finitely supported sequence of r × r matrices called the refinement mask, and M is an s × s dilation matrix with m = |detM|. Inhomogeneous refinement equations appear in the construction of multiwavelets and the constructions of wavelets on a finite interval. The cascade algorithm with mask a, g, and dilation M generates a sequence ϕ n , n = 1, 2, ..., by the iterative process
from a starting vector of function ϕ 0. We characterize the L p -convergence (0 < p < 1) of the cascade algorithm in terms of the p-norm joint spectral radius of a collection of linear operators associated with the refinement mask. We also obtain a smoothness property of the solutions of the refinement equations associated with the homogeneous refinement equation. Given 1≤ p,q < ∞, let BLpLq be the class of all Banach lattices X such that X is isometrically lattice isomorphic to a band in some Lp(Lq)-Banach lattice. We show that the range of a positive contractive projection on any BLpLq-Banach lattice is itself in BLpLq. It is a consequence of this theorem and previous results that BLpLq is first-order axiomatizable in the language of Banach lattices. By studying the pavings of arbitrary BLpLq-Banach lattices by finite dimensional sublattices that are themselves in this class, we give an explicit set of axioms for BLpLq. We also consider the class of all sublattices of Lp(Lq)-Banach lattices; for this class (when p/q is not an integer) we give a set of axioms that are similar to Krivine’s well-known axioms for the subspaces of Lp-Banach spaces (when p/2 is not an integer). We consider the spectral resolution of a Uq (sl 2)-invariant solution R of the constant Yang–Baxter equation in the braid group form. For a newform f for Γ0(N) of even weight k supersingular at a prime p ≥ 5, by using infinite dimensional p-adic analysis, we prove that the p-adic L-function L p (f,α; χ) has finite order of vanishing at any character of the form [(c)\tilde] s ( x ) = xs\tilde \chi _s \left( x \right) = x^s. In particular, under the natural embedding of ℤ p in the group of ℂ* p -valued continuous characters of ℤ* p , the order of vanishing at any point is finite.  相似文献

In (k, n) visual cryptographic schemes (VCS), a secret image is encrypted into n pages of cipher text, each printed on a transparency sheet, which are distributed among n participants. The image can be visually decoded if any k(≥2) of these sheets are stacked on top of one another, while this is not possible by stacking any k − 1 or fewer sheets. We employ a Kronecker algebra to obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a (k, n) VCS with a prior specification of relative contrasts that quantify the clarity of the recovered image. The connection of these conditions with an L 1-norm formulation as well as a convenient linear programming formulation is explored. These are employed to settle certain conjectures on contrast optimal VCS for the cases k = 4 and 5. Furthermore, for k = 3, we show how block designs can be used to construct VCS which achieve optimality with respect to the average and minimum relative contrasts but require much smaller pixel expansions than the existing ones.  相似文献
