In this paper, we consider a multiuser multi-antenna two-way relay system in which multiple pairs of partners communicate via a single relay node. The total transmit power of the relay node is shared by all pairs of partners. In order to allocate the limited power with both efficiency and fairness, we introduce a sequential second price auction as a mechanism to achieve such goals. First, we provide the system model and formulate the channel capacity of each pair. Then, we construct an algorithm which leads to the equilibrium of a sequential second price auction with full information assumption and sophisticated bidding strategy. The equilibrium result is used for allocating the relay power among pairs of partners. Finally, we provide the simulation results considering both randomness of user locations and time-varying nature of wireless channels, which show that the proposed algorithm has a good performance in total channel capacity, system efficiency, and fairness. 相似文献

Technical and regulatory changes motivate the economics of the interconnections to be re-examined for the next-generation Internet. This paper presents a framework for the economics of market-based QoS interconnection networks. The economic model presented captures the characteristics of opportunity costs and demands and suggests strategies for QoS pricing and allocation. We use the statistical results of network simulation to present numerical examples of those market opportunity costs with respect to the contracted QoS network services. bands that are under-utilized. In this regard, a new paradigm called dynamic spectrum access is being investigated where wireless
service providers (WSPs) would dynamically seek more spectrum from the under-utilized licensed bands when and where they need
without interfering with the primary users. Currently, there is little understanding on how such a dynamic allocation will
operate so as to make the system feasible under economic terms. In this paper, we consider the dynamic spectrum allocation
process where multiple WSPs (bidders) compete to acquire necessary spectrum band from a common pool of spectrum. We use auction
theory to analyze the allocation process when the demand from WSPs exceeds the available spectrum. We investigate various
auction mechanisms under different spectrum allocation constraints to find WSPs’ bidding strategies and revenue generated
by spectrum owner. We show that sequential bidding of bands provides better result than the concurrent bidding when WSPs are
constrained to at most single unit allocation. On the other hand, when the bidders request for multiple units, (i.e., they
are not restricted by allocation constraints) synchronous auction mechanism proves to be beneficial than asynchronous auctions.

Proportional fairness (PF) scheduling achieves a balanced tradeoff between throughput and fairness and has attracted great attention recently. However, most previous work on PF only considers the single cell scenario. This paper focuses on the problem of achieving network‐wide PF in a generalized multiple base station multiple user network. The problem is formulated as a maximization model and solved using the dual method. By decomposing the dual objective function, we get a distributed pricing based algorithm. Optimality of this algorithm is presented. Although the algorithm is derived using fixed link rate assumption, it can still apply in the presence of time‐varying rates. The proposed algorithm is suitable for distributed systems in the sense that it does not need any inter base station communication at all. Simulations illustrate that the proposed distributed network‐wide PF scheduling algorithm achieves almost the same performance as the centralized one. Compared with traditional local PF (LPF) scheduling, the network‐wide PF scheduling achieves higher throughput, lower throughput oscillation, and greater fairness. Channel-Aware Earliest Deadline Due Fair Scheduling for Wireless Multimedia Networks 总被引:2,自引:1,他引:1
Providing delay guarantees to time-sensitive traffic in wireless multimedia networks is a challenging issue. This is due to the time-varying link capacities and the variety of real-time applications expected to be handled by such networks. We propose and evaluate the performance of a channel-aware scheduling discipline and a set of policies that are capable of providing such delay guarantees in TDM-based wireless networks. First, we introduce the Channel-Dependent Earliest-Due-Date (CD-EDD) discipline. In this discipline, the expiration time of the head of line packets of users' queues is taken into consideration in conjunction with the current channel states of users in the scheduling decision. This scheme attempts to guarantee the targeted delay bounds in addition to exploiting multiuser diversity to make best utilization of the variable capacity of the channel. We also propose the violation-fair policy that can be integrated with the CD-EDD discipline and two other well-known scheduling disciplines [1, 2]. In this policy, we attempt to ensure that the number of packets dropped due to deadline violation is fairly distributed among the users. The proposed schemes can provide statistical guarantees on delays, achieve high throughput, and exhibit good fairness performance with respect to throughput and deadline violations. We provide extensive simulation results to study the performance the proposed schemes and compare them with two of the best known scheduling disciplines

Khaled M. F. Elsayed (S90-M95-SM02) received his B.Sc. (honors) in electrical engineering and M.Sc. in engineering mathematics from Cairo University in 1987 and 1990 respectively. He received his Ph.D. in computer science and computer engineering from North Carolina State University in 1995. He is now an Associate Professor in Cairo University, Egypt and is an independent telecommunications consultant. Between 1995 and 1997, he was a member of scientific staff with Nortel Wireless Systems Engineering in Richardson, TX.Dr. Elsayed was the editor for the Internet technology series of the IEEE Communications Magazine from 1998 until 2002. He has served on technical program committees for several IEEE, IFIP, and ITC conferences. He was the technical co-chair for IFIP MWCN 2003 conference in Singapore. He also served as an expert evaluator for the European Commission FP5 and FP6 programmes. His research interest is in the area of performance evaluation of communication networks including IP, wireless and optical networks.
Ahmed Khattab received his B.Sc. (honors) and MS.C in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Cairo University in 2002 and 2004 respectively.
