We study a system of equations which is based on Newton's law and models automatic position control by echo. Rewritten as a delay differential equation with state-dependent delay the model defines a semiflow on a submanifold in the space of continuously differentiable maps [-h, 0] 2. All time-t maps and the restriction of the semiflow given by t > h are continuously differentiable. For simple nonlinearities and suitable parameters we find a set of initial data to which the solution curves return, after an excursion into the ambient manifold. The associated return map is semiconjugate to an interval map. Estimates of derivatives yield a unique, attracting fixed point of the latter, which can be lifted to the return map. The proof that the resulting periodic orbit is stable and exponentially attracting with asymptotic phase involves a Poincaré return map and a discussion of derivatives of its iterates. 相似文献

Three problems are discussed in this paper 1. The physical significance of the characteristic tensor of finite deformation is discussed as a complement to the literature[2] 2. The four characteristic tensors of finite deformation, introduced in the litera ture[4], ard analyzed and discussed more thoroughly.3. The representation of the general finite deformation through simple loading process is not always possible, the condition for its realization being that the given finite deformation satisfies the equations of compatibility. It is pointed out in this paper that for the finite deformation set forth by L.I. In this paper, we establish and study a discrete mosquito population model with periodic parameters that takes into account the seasonal variation of environments. We are mainly interested in finding a positive periodic solution that is asymptotically stable and attracts all positive solutions. The existence, uniqueness, and stability of periodic solutions of the model are investigated. We show that the instability of the origin implies that the model has a unique asymptotically stable positive periodic solution and attracts all positive solutions and that the local stability of the origin implies its global asymptotic stability. We also give a necessary and sufficient condition for the origin to be stable. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate our theoretical results. 相似文献

In this paper we generalize the results on discretizing exponentially stable periodic orbits of delay differential equations obtained in [9] to the case of unstable hyperbolic periodic orbits. Moreover, we prove persistence of local invariant manifolds around the periodic orbit and a shadowing theorem which allows us to compare the dynamics of the original solution operator and its discretization in a neighborhood of the periodic orbit. The proofs use ideas from [1] but our assumptions on the closeness of the solution operator and its discretization — motivated by concrete numerical applications — are weaker. To overcome the difficulty caused by this weaker closeness assumption we use the smoothing effect of delay equations. 相似文献
