The compositions and amounts of polar lipids in cotton seeds and the products of their processing have been investigated. Six glycolipids have been identified, the main ones being monogalactosyldiglyceride (MGDGs), digalactosyldiglycerides (DGDGs), and sterol glycosides. The fatty acid compositions of the neutral lipids and of the phospho- and glycolipids have been determined. A possible mechanism of the contamination of cotton seeds and the products of their processing with aflatoxins has been studied. It has been found that the contamination of cotton seeds with aflatoxin takes place mainly on storage in the cotton ginning factory and the oils and fats combine. In the processing of the cotton seeds, part of the aflatoxins passes into the final products and part decomposes. The free, bound, and strongly bound lipids of the crushed seeds, pulp, husks, and meal have been characterized. It has been shown that the bound and strongly-bound lipids differ from the free lipids by a higher level of saturated acids. The lipid and pigment compositions of crude and refined bleached cottonseed oil have been studied and the influence of the technological treatment on the composition and structure of the components is discussed. The rheological properties of interphase adsorption layers of enzymatic derivatives of the reserve globulins of cotton seeds at liquid phase-separation boundaries have been investigated. The amount, qualitative and class compositions, and total fatty acid composition of the free, bound, and strongly bound lipids of kernels of the seeds of cotton plant of variety 175-F have been determined, and with the aid of enzymatic hydrolysis the strongly bound lipids have been isolated from the cottonseed kernels in the native form. It has been established that more than half the weight of the lipids comprises neutral varieties and the remainder are polar components. A procedure has been developed for the direct atomic emission determination of medium concentrations of noble metals in mineral raw materials and products of their processing. The procedure is based on the application of a spectral complex, consisting of an arc source of spectrum excitation, a DFS-8 spectrograph, a receiver of spectrum emission with CCD structures, and a registration system including software. Selenization reaction with the in situ prepared NaHSe has been successfully developed to occur in aqueous solution. The technique affords a method to upload the bioactive Se element on cotton products in semi-industrial scale.
