For a detailed study of the accuracy of the Penning trap mass spectrometer ISOLTRAP all expected sources of uncertainty were investigated with respect to their contributions to the uncertainty of the final result. In the course of these investigations, cross-reference measurements with singly charged carbon clusters 12C+ n were carried out. The carbon cluster ions were produced by use of laser-induced desorption, fragmentation, and ionization of C60 fullerenes and injected into and stored in the Penning trap system. The comparison of the cyclotron frequencies of different carbon clusters has provided detailed insight into the residual systematic uncertainty of ISOLTRAP and yielded a value of 8×10-9. This also represents the current limit of mass accuracy of the apparatus. Since the unified atomic mass unit is defined as 1/12 of the mass of the 12C atom, it will be possible to carry out absolute mass measurements with ISOLTRAP in the future. We report on the results obtained from the study of the 32S + 64Ni and 32S + 58Ni peripheral reactions at incident energies E lab = 288 MeV and E lab = 320 MeV, respectively. High-energy γ-rays were detected in an array of 8 seven-pack BaF2 clusters. Coincidence with complex fragments detected in 12 three-stage telescopes ensured the selection of peripheral reaction events. All of the relevant reaction parameters were kept constant with the exception of the different initial dipole moment caused by the different entrance channel charge asymmetry. While for quasi-elastic events no N/Z effect was observed in the differential γ-ray multiplicities of the two reactions, for deep-inelastic events a larger dipole γ-ray emission occurs during the more N/Z asymmetric reaction. A theoretical interpretation based on a collective Bremsstrahlung analysis of the reaction dynamics is presented. Binary disordered systems are usually obtained by mixing two ingredients in variable proportions: conductor and insulator, or conductor and super-conductor. They present very specific properties, in particular the second-order percolation phase transition, with its fractal geometry and the multi-fractal properties of the current moments. These systems are naturally modeled by regular bi-dimensional or tri-dimensional lattices, on which sites or bonds are chosen randomly with given probabilities. The two significant parameters are the ratio h = σ 1 of the complex conductances, σ and σ 1, of the two components, and their relative abundances p (or, respectively, 1 - p). In this article, we calculate the impedance of the composite by two independent methods: the so-called spectral method, which diagonalises Kirchhoff's Laws via a Green function formalism, and the Exact Numerical Renormalization method (ENR). These methods are applied to mixtures of resistors and capacitors (R-C systems), simulating e.g. ionic conductor-insulator systems, and to composites constituted of resistive inductances and capacitors (LR-C systems), representing metal inclusions in a dielectric bulk. The frequency dependent impedances of the latter composites present very intricate structures in the vicinity of the percolation threshold. In this paper, we analyse the LR-C behavior of compounds formed by the inclusion of small conducting clusters (“n-legged animals”) in a dielectric medium. We investigate in particular their absorption spectra who present a pattern of sharp lines at very specific frequencies of the incident electromagnetic field, the goal being to identify the signature of each animal. This enables us to make suggestions of how to build compounds with specific absorption or transmission properties in a given frequency domain. Lifetimes of low-lying yrast states in 186Pb and 194Po have been determined by employing, for the first time, the recoil-decay tagging technique in recoil distance Doppler-shift lifetime measurements. In addition, lifetime measurements of prolate states in 188Pb up to the 8+ state were carried out using the recoil gating method. The deformation parameters and for the prolate (186,188Pb) and the oblate (194Po) bands, respectively, have been extracted from the measured lifetimes. 27.70.+q–  相似文献

Recent experimental data on the dipole plasmon in axial sodium clusters Na N + with 11 ≤ N ≤ 57 are analyzed within a self-consistent separable random-phase approximation (SRPA) based on the deformed Konh-Sham functional. Good agreement with the data is achieved. The calculations show that, while in light clusters plasmon properties (gross structure and width) are determined mainly by deformation splitting, in medium clusters with N τ 50 the Landau fragmentation becomes decisive. Moreover, in medium clusters shape isomers come to play with contributions to the plasmon comparable with the ground state one. As a result, commonly used methods of the experimental analysis of cluster deformation become useless and correct treatment of cluster shape requires microscopic calculations.  相似文献

The 115, 117, 119, 121In nuclei have been produced as fission fragments in three reactions induced by heavy ions: 12C + 238U at 90MeV bombarding energy, 18O + 208Pb reaction at 85MeV, and 31P + 176Yb at 152MeV. Their level schemes have been built from gamma-rays detected using the EUROBALL III and IV arrays. High-spin states of 117, 119, 121In nuclei have been identified for the first time. Moreover, isomeric states lying around 2.5MeV have been established in 119, 121In from the delayed coincidences between the fission fragment detector SAPhIR and the gamma array. Most of the observed states can be described by coupling a proton g 9/2 hole to a Sn core, while the intruder band based on an orbital from the π[g 7/2/d 5/2] sub-shells behaves as the ground-state band of neighbouring Cd isotopes. The cyclotron frequencies of singly charged carbon clusters Cn + (n ≥ 2) were measured with the Penning-trap mass spectrometer ISOLTRAP at ISOLDE/CERN. The present limit of mass accuracy δm/m = 1.2 . 10-8 and the extent of the mass-dependent systematic shift (δm/m)sys = 1.7(0.6) . 10-10/u . (m - m ref) of the setup were investigated for the first time. In addition, absolute mass measurements by use of pure clusters of the most abundant carbon isotope 12C are now possible at ISOLTRAP. The even-even nucleus 136Nd was studied via in-beam γ-ray spectroscopy using the 16O + 125Te reaction at 100 MeV and the EUROBALL array. One new dipole band was observed. Together with a previously identified dipole band, whose position in the level scheme is revised, the new band forms a doublet structure similar to the recently observed chiral bands in the odd-odd neighboring nuclei. This would be the first case of a chiral doublet in an even-even nucleus. The 106, 108Rh and 110, 112Ag nuclei have been produced as fission fragments following the fusion reaction 28Si + 176Yb at 145 MeV bombarding energy and studied with the Eurogam2 array. The yrast high-spin states of these four odd-odd nuclei, which are observed for the first time, consist of rotational bands in which the odd proton occupies the πg 9/2 subshell and the odd neutron the νh 11/2 subshell. Their behaviour as a function of spin values does not vary with the number of neutrons: as observed in the odd-N neighbouring nuclei, the motion of the odd neutron remains decoupled from the motion of the core, from N = 61 to N = 65. Moreover, the staggering observed in the yrast bands of odd-odd isotopes is strongly reduced as compared to the large values displayed by the rotational bands built on the πg 9/2 subshell in the odd-A Rh and Ag isotopes. The results of particle-rotor calculations indicate that this reduction is related to a change of the core deformation. The even-even nucleus 126Ce was studied via in-beam γ-ray spectroscopy using the 40Ca + 92Mo reaction at 190 MeV. Five bands were observed, one of them being identified for the first time. New connecting transitions were identified between the bands, which lead to new spin assignments. The bands are discussed in the framework of the IBM + broken pairs model. Excited states in 59Zn were observed for the first time following the fusion-evaporation reaction 24Mg + 40Ca at a beam energy of 60 MeV. The GASP array in conjunction with the ISIS Silicon ball and the NeutronRing allowed for the detection of γ-rays in coincidence with evaporated light particles. The mirror symmetry of 59Zn and 59Cu is discussed. The low-energy nuclear structure and decay properties of the neutron-deficient isotopes 195At and 191Bi have been studied. 195At was produced in the reaction 142Nd(56Fe,p2n)195At and 191Bi as the daughter activity of 195At. The activities were implanted in a position-sensitive silicon detector after being separated from the primary beam by a gas-filled recoil separator. The 1/2+ intruder state was determined to be the ground state in 195At with an alpha-decay energy of E α = 6953(3) keV and a half-life T 1/2 = 328(20) ms. Another state with an alpha-decay energy E α = 7075(4) keV and a half-life T 1/2 = 147(5) ms was found to decay to a 148.7(5) keV excited state in 191Bi for which a spin and parity of 7/2- were deduced. Consequently, the same 7/2- character was assigned to the initial state at 32(7) keV in 195At on the basis of unhindered alpha-decay. The 9/2- state, being the ground state in heavier odd-mass astatine isotopes, was not observed. High-spin states of the 42Ca nucleus, populated in the 68 MeV 18O + 30Si reaction, have been studied in a γ-γ-recoil coincidence experiment. The level scheme of 42Ca has been extended up to 13.7 MeV. An elaborate decay pattern with various paths, together with high-quality DCO and polarization information assigns spins and parities for almost all observed levels. The sequence of non-yrast positive-parity states is discussed and compared with highly deformed bands in 36Ar and 40Ca. Spectroscopic experiments have been performed, providing emission and excitation spectra of calcium atoms trapped on argon clusters of average size 2 000. The two experimental spectra fall in the vicinity of the calcium resonance line 1P 11S0 at 422.9 nm. The excitation spectrum consists in two bands located on each side of the resonance line of the free calcium. In addition, Monte Carlo calculations, coupled to Diatomics-In-Molecule potentials are employed to simulate the absorption spectrum of a single calcium atom in the environment of a large argon cluster of average size 300. The theoretical absorption spectrum confirms the existence of two bands, and shows that these bands are characteristic of a calcium atom located at the surface of the argon cluster and correspond to the excited 4p orbital of calcium either perpendicular or parallel to the cluster surface. The precise comparison between the shape of the absorption spectrum and that of the fluorescence excitation spectrum shows different intensity ratios. This could suggest the existence of a non adiabatic energy transfer that quenches partly the fluorescence of trapped calcium. Another explanation, although less likely, could be a substantial dependence of the calcium oscillator strength according to the alignment of the calcium excited orbital with respect to the cluster surface. The emission spectrum always shows a band in the red of the resonance line which is assigned to the emission of calcium remaining trapped on the cluster. When exciting the blue band of the excitation spectrum, the emission spectrum shows a second, weak, component that is assigned to calcium atoms ejected from the argon clusters, indicating a competition between ejection and solvation. The nuclear magnetic moment of the ground state of 57Cu(Iπ = 3/2-, T1/2 = 196.3 ms) has been measured to be |μ(57Cu)| = (2.00 ±0.05) μN using the β-NMR technique. Together with the known magnetic moment of the mirror partner 57Ni, the spin expectation value was extracted as = -0.78 ± 0.13. Discrepancy between present results and shell model calculations in the full fp shell implies significant shell breaking at 56Ni with the neutron number N = 28.  相似文献

Average transition quadrupole moments in the yrast triaxial superdeformed bands of 163Lu, 164Lu and 165Lu were determined in a Doppler-shift attenuation-method experiment. Fractional Doppler shifts were determined in γ-ray coincidence spectra measured with the Gammasphere array. The transition quadrupole moments derived from these data show a decrease from 163Lu to 165Lu which is not predicted by total-energy surface calculations. Intracluster electron transfer and oligomerization reaction were investigated by mass spectrometry of clusters of alkali metal atom (M) with acrylonitrile (AN; CH2=CHCN). In the photoionization mass spectra of M(AN)n, magic numbers were clearly observed at n = 3k (k = 1-4 for M = Na and K, k = 1 for M = Li). The results of photodissociation of neutral K(AN)n indicate that the n = 3 cluster has an anomalous stability relative to other sizes of clusters. The C=C bond in vinyl molecules is also found to be necessary to form the magic numbers by measuring the photoionization mass spectrum of K atom with propionitrile. These results strongly support the intracluster anionic oligomerization reaction initiated by electron transfer from the alkali atom. The quantum chemical calculations have revealed that the evaporation induced by excess energy generated by intracluster oligomerization is important to form the magic numbers in the present clusters.
