Pseudodifferential Operators of Several Variables and Baker Functions

The KP hierarchy consists of an infinite system of nonlinear partial differential equations and is determined by Lax equations, which can be constructed using pseudodifferential operators. The KP hierarchy and the associated Lax equations can be generalized by using pseudodifferential operators of several variables. We construct Baker functions associated to those generalized Lax equations of several variables and prove some of the properties satisfied by such functions.     

Equivariant Symbol Calculus for Differential Operators Acting on Forms

We prove the existence and uniqueness of a projectively equivariant symbol map (in the sense of Lecomte and Ovsienko) for the spaces of differential operators transforming p-forms into functions, over . As an application, we classify the Vect(M)-equivariant maps from to over a smooth manifold M, recovering and improving earlier results of N.Poncin. This provides the complete answer to a question raised by P. Lecomte about the extension of a certain intrinsic homotopy operator.     

The Normal- and Antinormal-Ordered Decomposition Formulas of Multimode Exponential Operators

We obtain the normally ordered form of the general multimode exponential operator by means of parameter differentiation method and its antinormally ordered form by virtue of the technique of integration within an ordered product of operators.As an application,we obtain a new comp[leteness relation in n-mode Fock space.     

Composition Operators on Weighted Spaces of Holomorphic Functions on JB *-triples

We characterise continuity of composition operators on weighted spaces of holomorphic functions H _v (B _X ), where B _X is the open unit ball of a Banach space which is homogeneous, that is, a JB ^*-triple.     

Unitary and Antiunitary Operators Mapping Vectors to Parallel or to Orthogonal Ones, with Applications to Symmetry Transformations

Unitary and antiunitary operators which map vectors either to parallel or to orthogonal vectors are characterized. As an application the results are used to show that symmetry transformations induced by real functions are identity transformations.     

Extension of the Virasoro and Neveu-Schwarz Algebras and Generalized Sturm-Liouville Operators

We consider the universal central extension of the Lie algebra Vect(S ¹) C(S ¹). The coadjoint representation of thisLie algebra has a natural geometric interpretation by matrix analogues ofthe Sturm –Liouville operators. This approach leads to new Liesuperalgebras generalizing the well-known Neveu –Schwarz algebra.     

On the Relation Between U q (sl(2)) Vertex Operators and q-Zonal Functions

We show how the states constructed from the action of the modes of bosonized vertex operators that intertwine U modules are related toq -zonal functions.     

Differential Algebraicity of Multiple Sine Functions

The differential algebraicity of the multiple sine functions is investigated. The goal of the paper is to show the differential algebraicity of when the period is rational by using the classical theory due to Ostrowski.     

Determinants of Airy Operators and Applications to Random Matrices

The purpose of this paper is to describe asymptotic formulas for determinants of certain operators that are analogues of Wiener–Hopf operators. The determinant formulas yield information about the distribution functions for certain random variables that arise in random matrix theory when one rescales at the edge of the spectrum.     

Algebra of Deformed Differential Operators and Induced Integrable Toda Field Theory

We build in this paper the algebra of q-deformed pseudo-differential operators, shown to be an essential step toward setting a q-deformed integrability program. In fact, using the results of this q-deformed algebra, we derive the q-analogues of the generalized KdV hierarchy. We focus in particular on the first leading orders of this q-deformed hierarchy, namely the q-KdV and q-Boussinesq integrable systems. We also present the q-generalization of the conformal transformations of the currents u _n ,n 2, and discuss the primary condition of the fields W _n , n 2, by using the Volterra gauge group transformations for the q-covariant Lax operators. An induced su(n)-Toda(su(2)-Liouville) field theory construction is discussed and other important features are presented.     

Singular Perturbation of Quantum Stochastic Differential Equations with Coupling Through an Oscillator Mode

We consider a physical system which is coupled indirectly to a Markovian resevoir through an oscillator mode. This is the case, for example, in the usual model of an atomic sample in a leaky optical cavity which is ubiquitous in quantum optics. In the strong coupling limit the oscillator can be eliminated entirely from the model, leaving an effective direct coupling between the system an the resevoir. Here we provide a mathematically rigorous treatment of this limit as a weak limit of the time evolution and observables on a suitably chosen exponential domain in Fock space. The resulting effective model may contain emission and absorption as well as scattering interactions. R.v.H. is supported by the Army Research Office under Grant W911NF-06-1-0378.

利用相干态表象和IWOP技术导出了自由热态密度矩阵的正规乘积形式,进而根据相干态表象下的Wigner函数定义重构了自由热态和热相干态的Wigner函数.结果表明利用相干态表象下的Wigner函数定义和算符的正规乘积形式可以方便简捷重构一些量子态的Wigner函数.     

Transformation Between Eigenfunctions of Three Components of Geometric Momentum on Two-Dimensional Sphere

A technique of coordinate transformation is devised to overcome the computational difficulty associated with the direct transformation between eigenfunctions of three components of the geometric momentum on two-dimensional spherical surface, and the computations are firstly carried out in new coordinates and secondly the results are transformed back into the original coordinates. The eigenfunctions of different components of geometric momentum is explicitly demonstrated to transform under the spatial rotations in the precise way we anticipate.     

Some Remarks on Exp-Function Method and Its Applications

Recently, many important nonlinear partial differential equations arising in the applied physical and mathematical sciences have been tackled by a popular approach, the so-called Exp-function method. In this paper, we present some shortcomings of this method by analyzing the results of recently published papers. We also discuss the possible improvement of the effectiveness of the method.     

On Calculations of Legendre Functions and Associated Legendre Functions of the First Kind of Complex Degree

Formulas for calculating Legendre functions and associated Legendre functions of the first kind of complex degree using an Ermakov—Lewis invariant are presented. These formulas are straight-forward to implement numerically and are motivated by the lack of computational routines in standard university tools like those of MatLab and Maple. Angular waves propagating in opposite directions are also obtained. The results are particularly useful in complex angular momentum theories and nearside/farside analysis of spin-dependent angular scattering from central potentials.

Totally geodesic subgroups of diffeomorphisms

We determine the Riemannian manifolds for which the group of exact volume preserving diffeomorphisms is a totally geodesic subgroup of the group of volume preserving diffeomorphisms, considering right invariant L²-metrics. The same is done for the subgroup of Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms as a subgroup of the group of symplectic diffeomorphisms in the Kähler case. These are special cases of totally geodesic subgroups of diffeomorphisms with Lie algebras big enough to detect the vanishing of a symmetric 2-tensor field.
