We present a Monte Carlo implementation of medium-induced gluon radiation in the final-state branching process. Medium effects are introduced through an additive term in the splitting functions. We have implemented such modification within PYTHIA. We show the medium effects on the hump-backed plateau, and the transverse-momentum and angular distributions with respect to the parent parton. As expected, with increasing medium densities there is an increase (decrease) of partons with small (large) momentum fraction, and angular broadening is observed. The effects on the transverse-momentum distributions are more involved, with an enhancement of low- and intermediate-p T partons and a decrease at large p T, which is related to energy conservation, and to the lack of momentum exchange with the medium in our approach.  相似文献

Significant baryon over meson enhancement was measured at RHIC in the intermediate transverse momentum range of p T =2?4 GeV/c (“baryon-meson puzzle”). With STAR detector we were able to extend particle identification towards higher transverse momentum offering further insights into the particle production mechanisms at intermediate to high p T . In this paper we present results on charged pion, proton and anti-proton spectra and ratios at intermediate to high p T exploiting the relativistic rise of the specific ionization energy loss measured in the STAR Time Projection Chamber. These measurements provide valuable information about the production mechanisms of particles at intermediate p T in relativistic heavy ion collisions, e.g. coalescence/recombination versus jet fragmentation.  相似文献

Angular distributions of the protons in this low-energy region have been measured by only few groups for obvious reasons: the energy of the emitted protons is very low. It will be shown that by using non-supported targets of B11 with very little oxygen contamination the angular distributions can be obtained between approximately 5 and 165 degrees (cm.,p 0-group) and between 20 and 165 degrees (cm.,p 1) with high accuracy. The Butler-fits givel=1,r B =5.2 fm forp 0 andl=1,r B =4.7 fm forp 1. All angular distributions seem to exhibit strong participation of non-stripping mechanism.  相似文献

Assuming the partons within the initial hadrons to have transverse momentum we have calculated in the framework of the fusion process the transverse angular distributions of the charm pairs and of the ψψ pairs produced in hadronic collisions. The transverse angle is defined as \(\cos \phi = P_{T3} \cdot P_{T4} /(|P_{T3} ||P_{T4} |)\) wherep T3 andp T4 are the transverse momenta of the charm pairs/ψψ pairs. By comparing with the data we find that the effective transverse momentum of the partons is ~ 0.6 GeV/c.  相似文献

The inclusive spectra of pions produced in CC and CTa collisions at a momentum of 4.2 GeV/c per nucleon are analyzed in terms of light-front variables ξ and ζ. The phase space of the secondary pions is divided into two parts with very different angular and momentum distributions. In one of these parts, the thermal equilibrium assumption seems to be in good agreement with the data. Corresponding temperatures T are extracted, and their dependence on (APAT)1/2 is studied: T decreases linearly with increasing (APAT)1/2. The results are compared with the predictions of the quark-gluon string model (QGSM). The QGSM satisfactorily reproduces the experimental data.  相似文献

Investigating reaction mechanisms, angular distributions and cross sections of the reaction B10(d, p) B11 have been measured in the energy interval from 1,4 to 3,3 MeV of deuteron energy. More detailed measurements than until known have shown, that besides the well known stripping mechanism withl n =1 contributions of compound nucleus formation are not neglectable. Especially atE d =2,3 MeV,E X (C12)=27,1 MeV, the effect of a single resonance contributes a great deal to the cross section of the groupsp 1 andp 3 . Further angular distributions and yield curves between 1,4 and 3,3 MeV have been measured in the (d, α)-reactions on B10 and B11, showing quite different behaviour for both target nuclei.  相似文献

The inelastic photo-and electroproduction of J/ψ mesons at the HERA collider are considered within the semihard (k T -factorization) QCD approach and the color-singlet model. The total, differential, and double-differential cross sections for the inelastic production of J/ψ mesons are investigated versus the Pomeron intercept Δ, which is the basic parameter of low-x physics; also studied here is the spin alignment parameter α versus the square of the transverse momentum, p ψT 2 , and the variable z. The theoretical results obtained in the present study are compared with the latest experimental data of the H1 and ZEUS Collaborations. It is shown that experimental investigations of the polarization properties of J/ψ mesons at the HERA collider for Q2<1 GeV2 may provide an additional test of the Balitsky-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov dynamics of gluon distributions.  相似文献

The photoproduction of J/ψ mesons is considered on the basis of the parton model and in the kT-factorization approach in the leading order in α s . It is shown that, at specific values of the charmed-quark mass and the J/ψ-meson wave function at the origin, the predictions of the two approaches for the total cross section and z spectra of J/ψ mesons nearly coincide and agree with experimental data obtained at the HERA ep collider. At the same time, the parton model and the theory of semihard processes predict significantly different pT spectra of J/ψ mesons and significantly different transverse-momentum dependences of the ratio of the cross sections for the production of longitudinally and transversely polarized J/ψ mesons. It is expected that nontrivial effects of low-x physics will clearly manifest themselves in experimentally testing this fact.  相似文献

Following our earlier finding based on RHIC data on the dominant jet production from nucleus corona region, we reconsider this effect in nucleus–nucleus collisions at the LHC energies. Our hypothesis was based on experimental data, which raised the idea of a finite formation time for the produced medium. At the RHIC energy and in low-density corona region, this time reaches about 2 fm/c. Following this hypothesis, the nuclear modification factor R AA at high p t should be independent on particle momentum, and the azimuthal anisotropy of high p t particles, v 2, should be finite. A separate prediction held that, at the LHC energy, the formation time in the corona region should be about 1 fm/c. New LHC data show that R AA is not flat and is rising with p t . We add to our original hypothesis an assumption that a fast parton traversing the produced medium loses the fixed portion of its energy. A shift of about 7 GeV from the original power law p ?6 production cross section in pp explains well all the observed R AA dependencies. The shift of about 7 GeV is also valid at the RHIC energy. We also show that the observed at the LHC dependence of v 2 at high p t and our previous predictions agree.  相似文献

The famous three-body problem can be traced back to Isaac Newton in the 1680 s. In the 300 years since this "three-body problem"was first recognized, only three families of periodic solutions had been found, until 2013 when ˇSuvakov and Dmitraˇsinovi′c [Phys.Rev. Lett. 110, 114301(2013)] made a breakthrough to numerically find 13 new distinct periodic orbits, which belong to 11 new families of Newtonian planar three-body problem with equal mass and zero angular momentum. In this paper, we numerically obtain 695 families of Newtonian periodic planar collisionless orbits of three-body system with equal mass and zero angular momentum in case of initial conditions with isosceles collinear configuration, including the well-known figure-eight family found by Moore in 1993, the 11 families found by ˇSuvakov and Dmitraˇsinovi′c in 2013, and more than 600 new families that have never been reported, to the best of our knowledge. With the definition of the average period T = T=Lf, where Lf is the length of the so-called "free group element", these 695 families suggest that there should exist the quasi Kepler's third law T* ≈ 2:433 ± 0:075 for the considered case, where T*= T|E|~(3/2) is the scale-invariant average period and E is its total kinetic and potential energy, respectively. The movies of these 695 periodic orbits in the real space and the corresponding close curves on the "shape sphere"can be found via the website: http://numericaltank.sjtu.edu.cn/three-body/three-body.htm.  相似文献

The two major pillars of searches for the Quark Gluon Plasma have been: J/Ψ suppression, proposed in 1986, and observed at both SPS fixed target energies and at RHIC; and, more recently, the suppression of π 0 with p T ≥3 GeV/c by a factor ~5 in Au+Au central collisions, observed at RHIC in 2001, which had been predicted in advance as a consequence of Landau-Pomeranchuck-Migdal coherent (gluon) bremsstrahlung by the outgoing hard-scattered partons traversing the medium. However, new effects were discovered and the quality of the measurements greatly improved so that the clarity of the original explanations has become obscured. For instance: J/Ψ suppression is the same at SpS and RHIC. Is it the QGP, comovers, something else? QCD provides beautiful explanations of π 0 and direct γ measurements in p–p collisions but precision fits of the best theories of π 0 suppression barely agree with the Au+Au data. Better data are needed for 10<p T <20 GeV/c, systematic errors are needed in theory calculations, the values of parameters of the medium such as \(\langle\hat{q}\rangle\) derived from precision fits are the subject of controversy. Baryons are much less suppressed than mesons, leading to an anomalous \(\bar{p}/\pi\) ratio for 2≤p T ≤4.5 GeV/c, but beautiful theoretical explanations of the effect such as recombination do not work in detail. Heavy quarks seem to be suppressed the same as the light quarks, naively arguing against the bremsstrahlung explanation and suggesting exotic, possible transformational explanations. Di-hadron correlations reveal a trigger side ridge, possible Mach cones on the away side, vanishing and reappearance of away jets, both wide and normal jet correlations with and without apparent loss of energy. Can this all be explained consistently? Preliminary results of direct γ production in Au+Au appear to indicate a suppression approaching that of π 0 for p T ≈20 GeV/c and a possibly thermal component for 1≤p T ≤ 3 GeV/c. What are the implications? Are fragmentation photons a problem? Regeneration of direct γ by outgoing partons is predicted, leading to negative v 2—is there evidence for or against it? STAR and PHENIX have different observations relevant to the existence of monojets in d+Au collisions. Will new data clarify the situation? When? etc. These and other issues will be discussed with a view to identify which conclusions are firm and where further progress towards real understanding is required.  相似文献

The influence of nuclear effects on the transverse momentum (pT) of neutrino-produced hadrons is investigated using the data obtained with the SKAT propane-freon bubble chamber irradiated in the neutrino beam (with E v =3–30 GeV) at the Serpukhov accelerator. It has been observed that the nuclear effects cause an enhancement of 〈p T 2 〉 of hadrons produced in the target fragmentation region at low invariant mass of the hadronic system (2 < W < 4 GeV) and at low energies transferred to the hadrons (2 < ν < 9 GeV). At higher W and ν, no influence of nuclear effects on 〈p T 2 〉 is observed. Measurement results are compared with predictions of a simple model, incorporating secondary intranuclear interactions of hadrons, which qualitatively reproduces the main features of the data.  相似文献

Temperature dependences of specific heat Cp(T) and coefficient of thermal expansion ;(T) for Na0.95Li0.05NbO3 sodium-lithium niobate ceramic samples are investigated in the temperature range of 100–800 K. The Cp(T) and α(T) anomalies at T3 = 310 ± 3 K, T2 = 630 ± 8 K, and T1 = 710 ± 10 K are observed, which correspond to the sequence of phase transitions N ? Q ? S(R) ? T2(S). The effect of heat treatment of the samples on the sequence of structural distortions was established. It is demonstrated that annealing of the samples at 603 K leads to splitting of the anomaly corresponding to the phase transition QR/S in two anomalies. After sample heating to 800 K, the only anomaly is observed in both the Cp(T) and ;(T) dependence. Possible mechanisms of the observed phenomena are discussed.  相似文献

We study the transverse momentum spectra of identified pions (π + π+), kaons ((K + K +), K 0 s ), protons (p + p?) and lambda hyperons (Λ + Λ?) produced at mid-rapidity (0 < y cm < 0.5) in most central (0?5)% p–Pb collisions at \(\sqrt {s_{NN} }\) = 5.02 TeV in comparison with a Unified Statistical Thermal Freeze-out Model (USTFM). The measurements for pions are reported upto p T = 3 GeV, the kaons (K + K +) are reported upto p T = 2.5 GeV, K 0 s is reported upto p T = 7 GeV, and the baryons (protons and lambda hyperons) are reported upto p T = 3.5 GeV. A good agreement is seen between the calculated results and the experimental data points taken from the ALICE experiment. The transverse momentum spectra are found to be flatter for heavy particles than for light particles. Bulk freeze-out properties in terms of kinetic freeze-out temperature and the transverse collective flow velocity are extracted from the fits of the transverse momentum spectra of these hadrons. The effect of resonance decay contributions has also been taken care of.  相似文献

We investigate the effect of the hexadecapole (K=4) polarization moment on the spatial distributions of angular momenta for atoms produced during the photodissociation of diatomic or triatomic molecules by polarized radiation. We derive general expressions for the angular distributions of the atomic density matrix for K = 2, 4 and expressions for the corresponding anisotropy parameters that contain all information on the photodissociation dynamics. We show that these anisotropy parameters can be experimentally determined by using ion imaging. We consider oxygen atoms in the 1 D 2 state aligned with respect to the orbital angular momentum as an example and provide ion images of the signals that correspond to the population of the atomic magnetic sublevels ¦m¦ = 0, 1, 2. We show the contributions from the second-and fourth-rank state multipoles to the angular distributions of the atomic density matrix to be comparable in magnitude and significantly different in form.  相似文献

Based on an approach to non-Abelian propagation of color dipoles in a nuclear medium, we formulate a nonlinear k factorization for the breakup of photons and pions into forward hard dijets in terms of the collective Weizsäcker-Williams glue of nuclei. We find quite distinct practical consequences of nonlinear nuclear k factorization for interactions of pointlike photons and nonpointlike pions. In the former case, the large transverse momentum p of jets comes from the intrinsic momentum of quarks and antiquarks in the photon, and nuclear effects manifest themselves as an azimuthal decorrelation with an acoplanarity momentum of the order of the nuclear saturation momentum Q A . In the breakup of pions off free nucleons to the leading order in pQCD, the spectator parton has a small transverse momentum and the hard dijet cross section is suppressed. In the breakup of pions off heavy nuclei, the forward hard jets are predicted to be entirely decorrelated. We comment on the sensitivity of the pionic dijet cross section to the pion distribution amplitude. The predicted distinction between the breakup of photons and pions can be tested by the sphericity and thrust analysis of the forward hadronic system in the COMPASS experiment at CERN.  相似文献

The temperature dependences of the intense magnetocaloric effect ΔT AD(T, H) and the heat capacity C p (T) of the (La0.4Eu0.6)0.7Pb0.3MnO3 manganite are directly measured using adiabatic calorimetry. The experimental dependences ΔT AD(T) are in satisfactory agreement with those calculated from the data on the behavior of the magnetization. The factors responsible for the absence of an anomaly in the experimental temperature dependence of the heat capacity C p (T) in the range of the magnetic phase transition are discussed.  相似文献

This paper presents a selected review of recent experimental results on two-particle angular correlations in AuAu and pp collisions. Two-particle correlations in AuAu collisions exhibit a rich structure as a function of hadron transverse momentum, carrying information about the expansion of the medium produced in nuclear collisions, the energy loss of high-pT partons in the medium and the medium response to these high-pT partons or other initial state inhomogeneities. Evidence on the interplay between initial state fluctuations and the final state correlation structure is discussed.  相似文献

Thep-γ angular correlations in the Be9(d, p, γ)Be10 reaction have been measured in the reaction plane atE d =1.3, 1.5, 1.9, 2.3 and 2.45 MeV for proton anglesθ p =35°, 80° and 120°. The anisotropy of the angular correlations measured forθ p =35° is independent of deuteron energy. A systematic shift of the symmetry axis from the recoil direction has been observed. The shift is 20.5° at Ed=2.45 MeV. The anisotropy decreases with increasing proton angle and vanishes atθ p =120°.  相似文献
