A variety of density functional methods have been evaluated in the computation of electronic g-tensors and molybdenum hyperfine couplings for systems ranging from the Mo atom through MoIIIN, [MoVOCl4]-, and [MoVOF5]2- to two larger MoV complexes MoXLCl2 (X=O, S; L=tris(3,5-dimethylpyrazolyl)hydroborate anion). In particular, the influence of the molybdenum basis set and of various exchange-correlation functionals with variable admixtures of Hartree-Fock exchange on the computed EPR parameters have been evaluated in detail. Careful basis-set studies have provided a moderate-sized 12s6p5d all-electron basis on molybdenum that gives hyperfine tensors in excellent agreement with much larger basis sets and that will be useful for calculations on larger systems. The best agreement with experimental data for both hyperfine and g-tensors is obtained with hybrid functionals containing approximately 30-40% Hartree-Fock exchange. Only for MoSLCl2 does increasing spin contamination with increasing exact-exchange admixture restrict the achievable computational accuracy. In all cases, spin-orbit corrections to the hyperfine tensors are sizable and have to be included in accurate calculations. Scalar relativistic effects enhance the isotropic Mo hyperfine coupling by approximately 15-20%. Two-component g-tensor calculations with variational inclusion of spin-orbit coupling show that the Deltag parallel components in [MoVOCl4]- and [MoVOF5]2- depend on higher-order spin-orbit contributions and are thus described insufficiently by the usual second-order perturbation approaches. Computed orientations of g- and hyperfine tensors relative to each other and to the molecular framework for the MoXLCl2 complexes provide good agreement between theory and single-crystal electron paramagnetic resonance experiments. In these cases, the hyperfine tensor orientations are influenced only slightly by spin-orbit effects. 相似文献

A recently reported binuclear zinc hydroxide complex [(L(1)Zn(2))(mu-OH)](ClO(4))(2) (, L(1) = 2,6-bis[(bis(2-pyridylmethyl)amino)methyl]-4-methylphenolate monoanion) containing a single bridging hydroxide was examined for thioester hydrolysis reactivity. Treatment of it with hydroxyphenylthioacetic acid S-methyl ester in dry CD(3)CN results in no reaction after approximately 65 h at 45(1) degrees C. Binuclear zinc hydroxide complexes of the N-methyl-N-((6-neopentylamino-2-pyridyl)methyl)-N-((2-pyridyl)methyl)amine (L(2)) and N-methyl-N-((6-neopentylamino-2-pyridyl)methyl)-N-((2-pyridyl)ethyl)amine (L(3)) chelate ligands were prepared by treatment of each ligand with molar equivalent amounts of Zn(ClO(4))(2).6H(2)O and KOH in methanol. These complexes, [(L(2)Zn)(2)(mu-OH)(2)](ClO(4))(2) and [(L(3)Zn)(2)(mu-OH)(2)](ClO(4))(2) (), which have been structurally characterized by X-ray crystallography, behave as 1 : 1 electrolytes in acetonitrile, indicating that the binuclear cations dissociate into monomeric zinc hydroxide species in solution. Treatment of them with one equivalent of hydroxyphenylthioacetic acid S-methyl ester per zinc center in acetonitrile results in the formation of a zinc alpha-hydroxycarboxylate complex, [(L(2))Zn(O(2)CCH(OH)Ph)]ClO(4).1.5H(2)O or [(L(3))Zn(O(2)CCH(OH)Ph)]ClO(4).1.5H(2)O, and CH(3)SH. These reactions, to our knowledge, are the first reported examples of thioester hydrolysis mediated by zinc hydroxide complexes. The results of this study suggest that a terminal Zn-OH moiety may be required for hydrolysis reactivity with a thioester substrate. 相似文献

In this paper we explore several issues surrounding the catalytic reduction of dinitrogen by molybdenum compounds that contain the [(HIPTNCH2CH2)3N]3- ligand (where HIPT = 3,5-(2,4,6-i-Pr3C6H2)2C6H3). Four additional plausible intermediates in the catalytic dinitrogen reduction have now been crystallographically characterized; they are MoN= NH (Mo = [(HIPTNCH2CH2)3N]Mo), [Mo=NNH2][BAr'4] (Ar' = 3,5-(CF3)2C6H3), [Mo=NH][BAr'4], and Mo(NH3). We also have crystallographically characterized a 2,6-lutidine complex, Mo(2,6-Lut)+, which is formed upon treatment of MoH with [2,6-LutH][B(C6F5)4]. We focus on the synthesis of compounds that have not yet been isolated, which include Mo=NNH2, Mo=NH, and Mo(NH2). Mo=NNH2, formed by reduction of [Mo=NNH2]+, has not been observed. It decomposes to give mixtures that contain two or more of the following: MoN=NH, Mo triple bond N, Mo(NH3)+, Mo(NH3), and ammonia. Mo=NH, which can be prepared by reduction of [Mo=NH]+, is stable for long periods in the presence of a small amount of CrCp*2, but in the absence of CrCp*2, and in the presence of Mo=NH+ as a catalyst, Mo=NH is slowly converted into a mixture of Mo triple bond N and Mo(NH2). Mo(NH2) can be produced independently by deprotonation of Mo(NH3)+ with LiN(SiMe3)2 in THF, but it decomposes to Mo triple bond N upon attempted isolation. Although catalytic reduction of dinitrogen could involve up to 14 intermediates in a "linear" sequence that involves addition of "external" protons and/or electrons, it seems likely now that several of these intermediates, along with ammonia and/or dihydrogen, can be produced in several reactions between intermediates that themselves behave as proton and/or electron sources. 相似文献

Cu(II) is an essential element for life but is also associated with numerous and serious medical conditions, particularly neurodegeneration. Structural modeling of crystallization-resistant biological Cu(II) species relies on detailed spectroscopic analysis. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) can, in principle, provide spin hamiltonian parameters that contain information on the geometry and ligand atom complement of Cu(II). Unfortunately, EPR spectra of Cu(II) recorded at the traditional X-band frequency are complicated by (i) strains in the region of the spectrum corresponding to the g(∥) orientation and (ii) potentially very many overlapping transitions in the g(⊥) region. The rapid progress of density functional theory computation as a means to correlate EPR and structure, and the increasing need to study Cu(II) associated with biomolecules in more biologically and biomedically relevant environments such as cells and tissue, have spurred the development of a technique for the extraction of a more complete set of spin hamiltonian parameters that is relatively straightforward and widely applicable. EPR at L-band (1-2 GHz) provides much enhanced spectral resolution and straightforward analysis via computer simulation methods. Herein, the anisotropic spin hamiltonian parameters and the nitrogen coordination numbers for two hitherto incompletely characterized Cu(II)-bound species of a prion peptide complex are determined by analysis of their L-band EPR spectra. 相似文献

Mo(PMe3)6 reacts with thiophene to give the eta5-thiophene complex (eta5-C4H4S)Mo(PMe3)3 and the eta5-butadiene-thiolate complex (eta5-C4H5S)Mo(PMe3)2(eta2-CH2PMe2), which are the first examples of (i) eta5-thiophene coordination and (ii) C-S cleavage and hydrogenation by a molybdenum compound. Deuterium labeling studies suggest that the hydrogenation of thiophene may involve an alkylidene intermediate, an observation that has ramifications for the mechanisms of hydrodesulfurization. 相似文献

Experimental EPR data for copper(II) complexes with liquid-crystal poly(propylenimine) den-drimers were analyzed. The influence
of the pseudotetrahedral distortion of the nearest environment of the copper ion on the parameters of the EPR spectra was
considered. The covalent bond parameters were calculated from the EPR data. The dependence of the delocalization of the unpaired
electron of the copper ion on the pseudotetrahedral distortion of its coordination unit was determined. The behavior of the
Zeeman coupling parameters was discussed. Various contributions to the components of the hyperfine coupling (HFC) tensor were
calculated. The causes of the changes in the HFC parameters in the distorted complexes were dis cussed. 相似文献

Ka band ESEEM spectroscopy was used to determine the hyperfine (hfi) and nuclear quadrupole (nqi) interaction parameters for the oxo-17O ligand in [Mo 17O(SPh)4]-, a spectroscopic model of the oxo-Mo(V) centers of enzymes. The isotropic hfi constant of 6.5 MHz found for the oxo-17O is much smaller than the values of approximately 20-40 MHz typical for the 17O nucleus of an equatorial OH(2) ligand in molybdenum enzymes. The 17O nqi parameter (e2qQ/h = 1.45 MHz, eta approximately = 0) is the first to be obtained for an oxo group in a metal complex. The parameters of the oxo-17O ligand, as well as other magnetic resonance parameters of [Mo 17O(SPh)4]- predicted by quasi-relativistic DFT calculations, were in good agreement with those obtained in experiment. From the electronic structure of the complex revealed by DFT, it follows that the SOMO is almost entirely molybdenum d(xy) and sulfur p, while the spin density on the oxo-17O is negative, determined by spin polarization mechanisms. The results of this work will enable direct experimental identification of the oxo ligand in a variety of chemical and biological systems. 相似文献

EPR spectroscopy has been employed to study directly the selectivity of hydrogen-atom abstraction by some alkoxyl radicals from a variety of linear and branched alkanes, as well as linear alkenes, chosen as models for low molecular-weight polyolefin cross-linking systems. In situ thermal and photolytic approaches, as well as spin-trapping, have been employed to provide information relating to an accessible temperature range of 233-453 K. in part to mimic conditions relevant to melt processing of polyolefins. Rate constants (in the range 3 x 10(3)-3.7 x 10(5) dm3 mol-1 s-1 per hydrogen) have been determined for C-H abstraction at room temperature. Radical selectivity is largely governed by enthalpic effects (modelled via bond dissociation energy calculations and kinetic analysis). Direct evidence has been obtained for lack of reactivity, as a result of unfavourable steric interactions, for the secondary and tertiary C-H bonds in 2,4-dimethylpentane and 2,4,6-trimethylheptane, models for polypropylene. This has been rationalized via free-energy calculations using DFT. 相似文献

Single crystal electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) studies were carried at room temperature for VO(II) doped zinc potassium phosphate hexahydrate. The results indicate that the paramagnetic impurity has entered the lattice only substitutionally, as confirmed by the single crystal rotations. The spin Hamiltonian parameters calculated from the spectra are g parallel = 1.9356, g perpendicular = 1.9764, A parallel = 200.9 G and A perpendicular = 76.5 G. The optical absorption spectrum exhibits three bands (800, 670 and 340 nm) suggesting the C4v symmetry and the optical parameters evaluated are Dq = 1492, Ds = -3854 and Dt = 186 cm(-1). 相似文献

EPR studies have been carried out on three copper(II) complexes of 3-amino-5-methylisoxazole(3-AMI), namely(l)Cu(3-AMI)4Cl2,(2)Cu(3-AMI)2(NO3)2and(3)Cu(3-AMI)2Br2, in polycrystalline, solution and frozen solution forms in order to elucidate the stereochemistry, metal-ligand bond nature and solute-solvent interactions. The magnitude of the spectral parameters obtained from polycrystalline samples are found to represent the approximate local copper(II) environment with the ground state dominated by the dx2-y2 orbital. The molecular species obtained in pyridine and N,N '-dimethyl formamide (DMF) solutions of Cu(3-AMI)2(NO3), and Cu(3-AMI)2Br2 are similar to the corresponding species in complexes of isoxazole and its derivatives studied earlier. But, unlike the above two complexes the spectral parameters obtained in the pyridine and DMF solutions of Cu(3-AMI)4Cl2 are characteristic of CuN4 and CuO4, chromophores respectively with strong metal-ligand σ-bonding. The 4s-character in the ground state is estimated in all the complexes to indicate the axial field strength. 相似文献

Activation parameters have been obtained for the chelation of Mo(CO)5dpe (dpe = Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2) and of Mo(CO)5dmpe (dmpe = Me2PCH2CH2PMe2) to give cis-Mo(CO)4dpe and cis-Mo(CO)4dmpe respectively. The results are compared with those for the analogous chromium complexes and show that the enthalpy contribution determines the more rapid chelation in the molybdenum complexes. The preparation and properties of the chelate-bridged hetero-metallic complex (CO)5ModmpeMn(CO)4Br are reported. The reaction between Et4N[Mn(CO)4X2] (X = Cl, Br) and bidentate ligands dpe, dmpe and ape (ape = Ph2PCH2CH2AsPh2) in the presence of either silver(I) tetrafluoroborate or Et3OBF4 produces cis-Mn(CO)4X(bidentate) which is identified by infrared and mass spectrometry. At room temperature the Mn(CO)4X(bidentate) complex is rapidly converted to the chelated fac-Mn(CO)3X(bidentate) complex. The chelation process is approximately 104 times more rapid than in the isoelectronic chromium(O) complexes. The preparation and characterisation of fac-Mn(CO)3Br(dmpe), cis-Mn(CO)4Br(PMe3) and fac-Mn(CO)3Br(PMe3)2 are reported. 相似文献

EPR studies have been carried out on solutions of the complexes [Cu(trien)NCS](NO3), [Cu(trien)I]I, [Cu(Me6trien)NCS]B?4 and [Cu(Me6trien)](ClO4)2, (trien = 1,4,7,10-tetraazadecane; Me6trien = hexamethyl trien) in different solvents to investigate the solute-solvent interactions. From calculations of the 4s contribution in the ground state and bond parameters it is found that the axial bond in [Cu(trien)NCS](NO3) dissolved in pyridine is weaker than that in the other complexes dissolved in different solvents. For the two methylated complexes, in spite of the +I effect of the methyl group, the in-plane copper-nitrogen bonds are found to be weak, which is probably due to the changes in structure caused by methylation. 相似文献

In this work we present the investigation of the influence of electronic and structural variations induced by varying the N,N'-bridge on the magnetic properties of Cu(II)- bis(oxamato) complexes. For this study the complexes [Cu(opba)] (2-) ( 1, opba = o-phenylene- bis(oxamato)), [Cu(nabo)] (2-) ( 2, nabo = 2,3-naphthalene- bis(oxamato)), [Cu(acbo)] (2-) ( 3, acbo = 2,3-anthrachinone- bis(oxamato)), [Cu(pba)] (2-) ( 4, pba = propylene- bis(oxamato)), [Cu(obbo)] (2-) ( 5, obbo = o-benzyl- bis(oxamato)), and [Cu(npbo)] (2-) ( 6, npbo = 1,8-naphthalene- bis(oxamato)), and the respective structurally isomorphic Ni(II) complexes ( 8- 13) have been prepared as ( (n)Bu 4N) (+) salts. The new complex ( (n)Bu 4N) 2[Cu(R-bnbo)].2H 2O ( 7, R-bnbo = (R)-1,1'-binaphthalene-2,2'- bis(oxamato)) was synthesized and is the first chiral complex in the series of Cu(II)-bis(oxamato) complexes. The molecular structure of 7 has been determined by single crystal X-ray analysis. The Cu(II) ions of the complexes 1- 7 are eta (4)(kappa (2) N, kappa (2) O) coordinated with a more or less distorted square planar geometry for 1- 6 and a distorted tetrahedral geometry for 7. Using pulsed Electron Nuclear Double Resonance on complex 6, detailed information about the relative orientation of the hyperfine ( A) and nuclear quadrupole tensors ( Q) of the coordinating nitrogens with respect to the g tensor were obtained. Electron Paramagnetic Resonance studies in the X, Q, and W-band at variable temperatures were carried out to extract g and A values of N ligands and Cu ion for 1- 7. The hyperfine values were interpreted in terms of spin population on the corresponding atoms. The obtained trends of the spin population for the monomeric building blocks were shown to correlate to the trends obtained in the dependence of the exchange interaction of the corresponding trinuclear complexes on their geometry. 相似文献

Molybdenum (VI)-allyloxo and -allylamido complexes possessing ancillary oxo and imido ligands have been synthesised and their subsequent decomposition studied in the perspective of modelling the postulated surface intermediates of the catalytic oxidation and ammoxidation of propylene. In solution and under mild conditions, these complexes undergo two types of reactions corresponding effectively to certain elemental steps of the heterogeneous processes, i.e. oxidative dehydrogenation of the allyl groups and allyl migration to oxo and imido functions. The mechanisms and the relative rates of these reactions are compared with that proposed for the surface catalytic chemistry. The possibility of alternate reaction pathways is discussed such as for CN bond formation and the involvement of an allylideneamine intermediate in the catalytic cycle. 相似文献

The effect of different N-N spectator ligands on the reactivity of platinum(II) complexes was investigated by studying the water lability of [Pt(diaminocyclohexane)(H2O)2]2+ (Pt(dach)), [Pt(ethylenediamine)(H2O)2]2+ (Pt(en)), [Pt(aminomethylpyridine)(H2O)2]2+ (Pt(amp)), and [Pt(N,N'-bipyridine)(H2O)2]2+ (Pt(bpy)). Some of the selected N-N chelates form part of the coordination sphere of Pt(II) drugs in clinical use, as in Pt(dach) (oxaliplatin), or are models, regarding the nature of the amines, with higher stability in terms of substitution and hydrolysis of the diamine moiety, as in Pt(en) (cisplatin) and Pt(amp) (AMD473). The effect of pi-acceptors on the reactivity was investigated by introducing one (Pt(amp)) or two pyridine rings (Pt(bpy)) in the system. The pK(a) values for the two water molecules (viz., Pt(dach) (pK(a1) = 6.01, pK(a2) = 7.69), Pt(en) (pK(a1) = 5.97, pK(a2) = 7.47), Pt(amp) (pK(a1) = 5.82, pK(a2) = 6.83), Pt(bpy) (pK(a1) = 4.80, pK(a2) = 6.32) show a decrease in the order Pt(dach) > Pt(en) > Pt(amp) > Pt(bpy). The substitution of both coordinated water molecules by a series of nucleophiles (viz., thiourea (tu), L-methionine (L-Met), and guanosine-5'-monophosphate (5'GMP-) was investigated under pseudo-first-order conditions as a function of concentration, temperature, and pressure using UV-vis spectrophotometric and stopped-flow techniques and was found to occur in two subsequent reaction steps. The following k1 values for Pt(dach), Pt(en), Pt(amp), and Pt(bpy) were found: tu (25 degrees C, M(-1) s(-1)) 21 +/- 1, 34.0 +/- 0.4, 233 +/- 5, 5081 +/- 275; L-Met (25 degrees C) 0.85 +/- 0.01, 0.70 +/- 0.03, 2.15 +/- 0.05, 21.8 +/- 0.6; 5'GMP- (40 degrees C) 5.8 +/- 0.2, 3.9 +/- 0.1, 12.5 +/- 0.5, 24.4 +/- 0.3. The results for k2 for Pt(dach), Pt(en), Pt(amp), and Pt(bpy) are as follows: tu (25 degrees C, M(-1) s(-1)) 11.5 +/- 0.5, 10.2 +/- 0.2, 38 +/- 1, 1119 +/- 22; L-Met (25 degrees C, s(-1)) 2.5 +/- 0.1, 2.0 +/- 0.2, 1.2 +/- 0.3, 290 +/- 4; 5'GMP- (40 degrees C, M(-1) s(-1)) 0.21 +/- 0.02, 0.38 +/- 0.02, 0.97 +/- 0.02, 24 +/- 1. The activation parameters for all reactions suggest an associative substitution mechanism. The pK(a) values and substitution rates of the complexes studied can be tuned through the nature of the N-N chelate, which is important in the development of new active compounds for cancer therapy. 相似文献

The EPR of NO. can be detected in the liquid and solid states when crystal fields are sufficient to remove the axial symmetry and separate the (pi*)x and (pi*)y orbitals by a few hundred reciprocal centimeters. The theory of the EPR spin Hamiltonian of bound NO. is reviewed, further developed, and then applied to the observed frozen-liquid spectra of NO. bound to Ru(II) obtained from RuIINO+ complexes by reduction. Comparisons to earlier reports on the observation of the EPR spectra of NO. are made. 相似文献

The density functional restricted-unrestricted approach for treatments of spin polarization effects in molecular properties using spin restricted Kohn-Sham theory has been extended from linear to nonlinear properties. It is shown that the spin polarization contribution to a nonlinear property has the form of a quadratic response function that includes the zero-order Kohn-Sham operator, in analogy to the lower order case where the spin polarization correction to an expectation value has the form of a linear response function. The developed approach is used to formulate new schemes for computation of electronic g-tensors and hyperfine coupling constants, which include spin polarization effects within the framework of spin restricted Kohn-Sham theory. The proposed computational schemes are in the present work employed to study the spin polarization effects on electron paramagnetic resonance spin Hamiltonian parameters of square planar copper complexes. The obtained results indicate that spin polarization gives rise to sizable contributions to the hyperfine coupling tensor of copper in all investigated complexes, while the electronic g-tensors of these complexes are only marginally affected by spin polarization and other factors, such as choice of exchange-correlation functional or molecular structures, will have more pronounced impact on the accuracy of the results. 相似文献
