A comprehensive investigation of propagation of new longitudinal electro-kinetic modes and novel properties introduced due to presence of negatively charged colloids in semiconductor plasma is presented. By employing the multi-fluid balance equations, a compact dispersion relation for the cases in which wave phase velocity is either larger or smaller than electron thermal velocity is derived. This dispersion relation is used to study wave phenomena and electro-kinetic mode instability numerically. We find important modifications in electro-kinetic branch as well as the existence of new modes of propagation in colloids laden semiconductor plasma. A comprehensive investigation of excitation of acousto-electric modes and novel properties introduced due to presence of negatively charged colloids in magnetized compensated piezoelectric semiconductor plasma is presented analytically. We derive a compact dispersion relation for the acousto-electric waves in colloids laden semiconductor plasma by employing multi-fluid balance equation. It is found that the presence of charged colloids not only modifies the wave spectrum but also alters the amplification characteristics even though colloidal particles, on account of their heavy masses, do not participate in wave propagation. The results of this investigation should be useful in understanding the characteristics of longitudinal acousto-electric wave in ion-implanted piezoelectric semiconductor plasmas whose main constituents are electrons, holes and negatively charged colloids, which are stationary in the background.  相似文献

We report nonlinear parametric interactions using a hydrodynamic model of ion-implanted semiconductor plasmas having strain-dependent dielectric constants(SDDC). High-dielectric-constant materials are technologically important because of their nonlinear properties. We find that the third-order susceptibility varies in the range 10~(-14)~(–10)~(-12)m~2·V~(-2) for ion-implanted semiconductor plasmas, which is in good agreement with previous results. It is found that the presence of SDDC in ion-implanted semiconductor plasma modifies the characteristic properties of the material.  相似文献

A general quantum dispersion equation for electron-positron(hole)-ion quantum plasmas is derived and studied for some interesting cases. In an electron-positron-ion degenerate Fermi gas, with or without the Madelung term, a new type of zero sound waves are found. Whereas in an electron-hole-ion plasmas a new longitudinal quantum waves are revealed, which have no analogies in quantum electron-ion plasmas. The excitation of these quantum waves by a low-density monoenergetic straight electron beam is examined. Furthermore, the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation for novel quantum waves is derived and the contribution of the Madelung term in the formation of the KdV solitons is discussed.  相似文献

We develop a theory for Casimir-Lifshitz and Casimir-Polder interactions with semiconductor or insulator surfaces that takes into account charge drift in the bulk material through use of the classical Boltzmann equation. We derive frequency-dependent dispersion relations that give the usual Lifshitz results for dielectrics as a limiting case and, in the quasistatic limit, coincide with those recently computed to account for Debye screening in the thermal Lifshitz force with conducting surfaces with small density of carriers.  相似文献

The effect of transverse entrainment of charge carriers by two electromagnetic waves propagating in mutually perpendicular directions in a semiconductor with a parabolic dispersion law has been investigated. The dc component of the electric current density that appears in the direction perpendicular to the wave vectors has been calculated in the constant relaxation time approximation. It has been shown that the transverse dc current vanishes at a particular phase difference of the incident waves determined by the relaxation time of charge carriers in the material.  相似文献

The purpose of the present paper is to report the study on modulational amplification in diffusive semiconductors including hot carrier effects. Considering that the origin of modulational interaction lies in the third-order optical susceptibility χ (3) arising from the nonlinear diffusion current density and using coupled mode theory, an analytical investigation of frequency modulational interaction between co-propagating laser beams and internally generated acoustic mode is presented. We have studied the steady state and transient amplification characteristics of modulated waves arising in diffusive semiconductor plasmas. The effect of carrier heating adds new dimensions to the present study. The heating effect reduces the required threshold amplitude of wave and enhances steady-state as well as transient gain of the generated acoustic mode.  相似文献

The effect of the nonuniform charge distribution due to the ion flow on the ion–dust grain bremsstrahlung process is investigated in dusty plasmas. The impact-parameter analysis is applied to the motion of the projectile ion in order to investigate the variation of the bremsstrahlung radiation cross section as a function of the impact parameter, Debye length, Mach number, radiation photon energy, and projectile energy. The result shows that the nonuniform charge distribution effect strongly enhances the bremsstrahlung cross section. It is also found that the bremsstrahlung radiation cross section decreases with increasing the Debye length.  相似文献

Modulated PhotoReflectance (MPR) measurements on semiconductor wafers implanted with boron or silicon ions in the dose range 5×1010–5×1015 ions/cm2 are presented. Correspondingly, a one-dimensional theoretical multilayer model is established. In the theory, as the implant dose is lower than a critical value, the variation of the MPR signal is contributed mainly by the implanted defects and damages. However, when the dose is above the critical dose, the change of the MPR signal is chiefly due to the formation and growth of an amorphous layer. The theoretical results are in good agreement with those of experiments.  相似文献

The dispersion relation of the dust-lower-hybrid wave has been derived using the quantum hydrodynamic model of plasmas in an ultracold Fermi dusty plasma in the presence of a uniform external magnetic field. The dust dynamics, electron Fermi temperature effect, and the quantum corrections give rise to significant effects on the dust-lower-hybrid wave of the magnetized quantum dusty plasmas.  相似文献

It is shown that electrohydrodynamic waves similar to gravity waves at the interface of two liquids can propagate in a semiconductor structure composed of two semiconductor layers with different charge carrier densities and placed in a transverse electric field. By considering that the implanted ions in a group-IV semiconductor agglomerate to form nanoclusters (NCs) and some of them acquire negative charge, we present an analytical study on excitation and propagation of Alfven wave (AW). Using multi-fluid analysis and Maxwell's equations, a linear dispersion relation for the AW in a semiconductor plasma has been derived. The presence of charged NCs is shown to split the waves into two components and significantly modifying their dispersion and absorption characteristics by creating a charge imbalance in the semiconductor plasma. The NCs, on account of their heavy masses, are assumed to be stationary in the background.  相似文献

Based on hydrodynamic model of plasmas an analytical investigation of frequency modulational interaction between copropagating high frequency pump and acoustic mode and consequent amplification (steady-state and transient) of the modulated waves is carried out in a magnetised piezoelectric semiconductor medium. The phenomenon of modulational amplification is treated as four wave interaction process involving cubic nonlinearity of the medium. Gain constants, threshold-pump intensities and optimum-pulse duration for the onset of modulational instabilities are estimated. The analysis has been performed in non-dispersive regime of the acoustic mode, which is one of the preconditions for achieving an appreciable initial steady-state growth of the modulated signal wave. It is found that the transient gain constant diminishes very rapidly if one chooses the pump pulse duration beyond the maximum gain point. Moreover, the desired value of the gain can be obtained by adjusting intensity and pulse duration of the pump and doping concentration of the medium concerned. The effect of adsorption on the carrier mobility in the near-surface region of a semiconductor substrate has been investigated within the framework of the Schrieffer model. The dependence of the carrier surface mobility on the concentration of adatoms has been determined. The systems chosen for the study are the gases adsorbed on the surface of semiconductor oxides. Empirical estimates of the surface mobility, which are based on modification of conventional volume scattering mechanisms, have been proposed.  相似文献

The propagation of linearly polarized large-amplitude electromagnetic waves in relativistic plasmas is studied in the framework of the Akhiezer-Polovin-model. Different forms of the basic equations are reviewed and important solutions are presented for small and critical plasma densities. The outcome of fusion burning waves in non-degenerate plasmas is limited by the strength of ion–electron Coulomb collisions and subsequent energy loss mechanisms as electron heat conduction and radiation emission. In this Letter, an analysis is presented on the degeneracy effects in the stopping power of suprathermal charged particles and in the energy transmitted from ions to electrons by Coulomb collision. Main results of this analysis is that very powerful fusion burning waves can be launched into previously compressed degenerate plasmas. This can be specially suitable for proton–boron fusion, but it also applicable to any type of fusion reaction, where ignition can be triggered by an incoming ion beam or another external source of energy deposited in a small fraction of the compressed plasma (fast ignition).  相似文献
