光栅光阀是一种基于微型机电系统(MEMS)工艺的光调制器,利用其表面具有的可选择的变形部分(可动光阀),提供衍射光栅,被应用于投影显示等领域。光栅光阀的光学性能决定其在投影显示系统中应用的成败。依据多光束干涉理论和衍射理论对光栅光阀工作状态的光学特性进行了详细的理论分析和计算机仿真。结果说明,光栅光阀在工作中处于“开”态时,可动光阀下降的距离应该是入射波长的1/4倍;设计时选择h=λ0/2,δ=Aλ0/4;当间隙处的反射率不同时,占空比对光栅光阀的光学特性有着不同的影响,给出了占空比与反射率的最佳组合值。  相似文献

The effects of an anomalous biaxiality and a residual-stress field in basal-plane-faceted single-crystal sapphire ribbons were studied by an optical polarization method using a conoscopic light beam. Formulas that relate the difference between the principal stresses to the angle of optical-axis divergence are obtained. It is shown that the central regions of the ribbons undergo compressive stresses whereas their edges undergo tensile stresses. As compared to block-free ribbons, the stresses in block-containing ribbons increase more intensely with distance from the seed.  相似文献

It is well known that photoresist gratings can be used for coupling light into and out of optical waveguides. To understand the coupling phenomena, and as a first step of a theoretical study, we deal here with the diffraction of a plane electromagnetic wave by a photoresist grating lying on a dielectric optical guide. Using a rigorous electromagnetic formalism, we find the sharp resonances already described by Hope and relate them with the existence of modes in the optical guide.  相似文献

We demonstrate a slow light beam splitter using rapid coherence transport in a wall-coated atomic vapor cell. We show that particles undergoing random and undirected classical motion can mediate coherent interactions between two or more optical modes. Coherence, written into atoms via electromagnetically induced transparency using an input optical signal at one transverse position, spreads out via ballistic atomic motion, is preserved by an antirelaxation wall coating, and is then retrieved in outgoing slow light signals in both the input channel and a spatially-separated second channel. The splitting ratio between the two output channels can be tuned by adjusting the laser power. The slow light beam splitter may improve quantum repeater performance and be useful as an all-optical dynamically reconfigurable router.  相似文献

The output characteristics of optical feedback in a helium neon laser with a birefringent internal cavity are studied systematically in five different regions of the gain curve for the two orthogonally polarized modes. When the laser operates in the two end regions of the laser gain curve, one of the two orthogonally polarized modes will be a leading one in optical feedback. Strong mode competition can be observed. However, when the laser operates in the middle region of the laser gain curve, the two modes can oscillate equally with optical feedback. Besides the intensity of the two polarized lights, the total light intensity is also studied at the same time. M-shaped optical feedback curves are found. Particularly, when the average intensities of the two lights are comparable, the intensity modulation curve of the total light is doubled, which can be used to improve the resolution of an optical feedback system.[第一段]  相似文献

由波动方程的积分解导出了光纤中各轴对称传导模式传输功率的解析表达式, 该式包含了入射光对模式功率的影响, 同时也反映了不同阶次模式间的差别. 在此基础上, 以高斯光斑模拟光纤端面的实际光斑, 讨论了聚焦情况对各轴对称模式间功率分配情况的影响. 结果表明, 把工作频率和聚焦情况综合起来加以调整, 可达到压制某些模式而提升另一些模式的目的.  相似文献

对于晶体光轴平行于波导界面的结构,讨论了光在金属包层对称平面单轴晶体波导(波导层是单轴晶体,两个波导界面均为金属)内的传输特性.解析地得到了这种结构下波导模式场的精确解.模式场的性质因单轴晶体的性质不同而异.对于正单轴晶体,波导的主模是横电波,任何频率的光波均可激励该模式;当频率满足一定条件时,波导内传输单模,否则,将激励起高阶模式.高阶模既非TE波,也非TM波,而是两者耦合而成的混合模.对于负单轴晶体,波导的主模是一种混合模,该模式同样可被任何频率的光波所激励;当频率满足一定条件时,波导内传输单模,否则 关键词: 平面金属波导 单轴晶体 模式场 混合模  相似文献

To increase the absorption in a thin layer of absorbing material (amorphous silicon, a-Si), a light trapping design is presented. The designed structure incorporates periodic metal-insulator-metal waveguides to enhance the optical path length of light within the solar cells. The new design can result in broadband optical absorption enhancement not only for transverse magnetic (TM)-polarized light, but also for transverse electric (TE)-polarized light. No plasmonic modes can be excited in TE-polarization, but because of the coupling into the a-Si planar waveguide guiding modes and the diffraction of light by the bottom periodic structures into higher diffraction orders, the total absorption in the active region is also increased. The results from rigorous coupled wave analysis show that the overall optical absorption in the active layer can be greatly enhanced by up to 40%. The designed structures presented in this paper can be integrated with back contact technology to potentially produce high-efficiency thin-film solar cell devices.  相似文献

We have designed and proposed the edge modes supported by graphene ribbons and the planar band-pass filter consisting of graphene ribbons coupled to a graphene ring resonator by using the finite-difference time-domain numerical method.Simulation results show that the edge modes improve the electromagnetic coupling between devices. This structure works as a novel, tunable mid-infrared band-pass filter. Our studies will benefit the fabrication of planar, ultra-compact nano-scale devices in the mid-infrared region. A power splitter consisting of two output ribbons that is useful in photonic integrated devices and circuits is also designed and simulated. These devices are useful for designing ultra-compact planar devices in photonic integrated circuits.  相似文献

We report on selective polarization mode excitation in InGaAs/GaAs rolled-up microtubes. The microtubes are fabricated by selectively releasing a coherently strained InGaAs/GaAs quantum dot layer from its host GaAs substrate. An optical fiber abrupt taper is used to pick up the microtube, while an adiabatically tapered optical fiber is used to couple light into the resonant optical modes of the microtube. By varying the polarization of the light in the adiabatically tapered fiber both transverse electric and transverse magnetic modes are observed in the microtube. We also show that the microtube can be used as a red (0.6?μm) to infrared light (1.5?μm) optical-optical modulator taking advantage of the thermal-optical effect.  相似文献

We propose a two-color scheme of atom waveguides and one-dimensional (1D) optical lattices using evanescent wave fields of different transverse modes around an optical micro/nano-fiber. The atom guide potential can be produced when the optical fiber carries a red-detuned light with TE01 mode and a blue-detuned light with HEll mode, and the 1D optical lattice potential can be produced when the red-detuned light is transformed to the superposition of the TE01 mode and HE11 mode. The two trapping potentials can be transformed to each other for accurately controlling mode transformation for the red-detuned light. This might provide a new approach to realize flexible transition between the guiding and trapping states of atoms.  相似文献

利用表面等离子激元的新颖特性,设计了二维间隙表面等离子波导.以这种结构为基础通过变形和组合形成90°直角弯曲波导、T型光功率分配器和光开光,采用时域有限差分法研究了它们的传输特性.结果表明:不同于介质光波导的弯曲损耗来自于辐射泄漏,90°直角弯曲间隙表面等离子波导的能量损耗主要来自于金属中的欧姆热损耗.在间隙达到40 nm以上后,当直行段的长度适当时,弯曲段的透射率较相同长度的直波导的透射率要大.T型光功率分配器在两输出波导的间隙宽度比达到0.6及以上时,不同于传统介质波导的分光原则,能量主要沿等效折射率较小的输出臂流出.当两输入光的相位反相时,T型光开关处于输出截止的状态,当两输入光的相位同相时,T型光开关处于输出导通的状态.所有波导间隙均小于衍射极限,实现了超衍射极限传播,可用于未来了超大规模集成光路中.  相似文献

光纤像面全息可以获得较高衍射效率的全息图和再现较大的物像。文中分析了相干光激励下传像光纤束单丝芯径的大小对其输出光场的影响,以及输出光场中低阶模与高阶模对全息照相的不同作用,在此基础上,提出缩小传像束单丝芯径,增多单丝根数,可以提高光纤像面全息图衍射效率和分辨率的观点,并通过实验进行了验证。  相似文献

把硬边光阑从复杂光学系统中“移”出来,即把任意一个含有硬边光阑的复杂光学系统体现到含有入射光瞳和出射光瞳的光学系统中,使硬边光阑的作用转化为出射光瞳的作用,以便求出观察面上的解析解。对入射面上的二维厄米 高斯光束,利用柯林斯公式和入射光瞳与出射光瞳的物像关系,可得到所要求观察面的场分布和解析结果,通过数值模拟验证了其正确性。通过分析计算得到如下结论:对于任意一个含有硬边光阑的复杂光学系统,都可以把光阑的作用从系统中“移”出来,把其看作是出射光瞳的作用,从而可以较为简便地求出观察面上的场分布。  相似文献

We propose a new method for tailoring light structures using a double axicon holographic pattern. The light structure can be tailored using pairs of Bessel modes with different angular momentum indices, and changed into an optical wheel by combining two copropagating Bessel beams. We also demonstrated that the optical wheel obtained from a pair of Bessel beams had rotation feature over the propagation distance by introducing different axial wavenumbers between the two modes.  相似文献

A polarized Raman study of nanographite ribbons on a highly oriented pyrolytic graphite substrate is reported. The Raman peak of the nanographite ribbons exhibits an intensity dependence on the light polarization direction relative to the nanographite ribbon axis. This result is due to the quantum confinement of the electrons in the 1D band structure of the nanographite ribbons, combined with the anisotropy of the light absorption in 2D graphite, in agreement with theoretical predictions.  相似文献

This paper investigates the intensity tuning characteristics of a double longitudinal modes He--Ne laser subjected to optical feedback. The intensity undulations of the total light and the two modes are observed for different external cavity length. Two modulations of the internal cavity length are performed. One is only for the internal cavity length being modulated and the other is for both the internal and the external cavity length being modulated. The undulation frequency of the total light is found to be determined by the ratio of external cavity length to internal cavity length in both modulations. When the external cavity length is integral times of the internal cavity length, the fringe frequency of the total light could be seven or even more times of that in conventional optical feedback. A simple theoretical analysis is presented, which is in good agreement with the experimental results. The potential use of the experimental results is also discussed.  相似文献

We propose a new method for performing continuous quantum nondemolition measurements (QNDM) of the polarization characteristics of light, the signal photon number, and the Stokes parameters of light. For devices that implement such measurements we take cubically nonlinear double-filament optical fibers with tunnel coupling of the filaments. Such a system employs a four-mode mixing of the waves (two probe modes and two signal modes). Linear optical elements needed for preliminary and subsequent conversion of the Stokes parameters are also used. We show that measurements of one Stokes parameter can be used for QNDM of the phase difference between the two initial modes. Here the accuracy of such measurements is determined by the initial fluctuations of the Stokes parameters of the probe modes and by the size of the nonlinear mode conversion coefficient in the optical fibers. We investigate the storage of light in atomic rubidium vapor using a multilevel-tripod scheme. In the system, two collective dark polariton modes exist, forming an effective spinor quasiparticle. Storage of light is performed by dynamically reducing the optical group velocity to zero. After releasing the stored pulse, a beating of the two reaccelerated optical modes is monitored. The observed beating signal oscillates at an atomic transition frequency, opening the way to novel quantum limited measurements of atomic resonance frequencies and quantum switches.  相似文献

A flexible array waveguide evanescent coupler for card-to-backplane optical interconnects is presented. The proposed technique eliminates traditional 90 degrees out-of-plane turns and local waveguide termination of multidrop bus architectures that hinder conventional card-to-backplane optical interconnections. Evanescent coupling between array waveguide ribbons has been successfully demonstrated. Further experiments have been performed to quantify array waveguide coupling length versus transfer efficiency and waveguide misalignment tolerance. Preliminary optical interconnect testing has demonstrated 2.5GHz operation of the coupler ribbons. The successful high-speed coupling confirms the effectiveness of the proposed method for high-speed computing systems.  相似文献
