Abstract

The c-realcompact spaces are fully studied and most of the important and well-known properties of realcompact spaces are extended to these spaces. For a zero-dimensional space X, the space υ0X, which is the counterpart of υX, the Hewitt realcompactification of X, is introduced and studied. It is shown that υ0X, which is the smallest c-realcompact space between X and β0X, plays the same role (with respect to Cc(X)) as υX does in the context of C(X). It is proved for strongly zero-dimensional spaces, c-realcompact spaces, realcompact spaces and N-compact spaces coincide. In particular, if X is a strongly zero-dimensional space, then υX = υ0X. It is obsesrved that a zero-dimensional space X is pseudocompact if and only if Cc(X) = C*c(X), or equivalently if and only if υ0X = β0 X. In particular, a zero-dimensional pseudocompact space is compact if and only if it is c-realcompact. It is shown that Lindelöf spaces, subspaces of the one-point compactification (resp., Lindelöffication) of a discrete space with a nonmeasurable cardinal, are c-realcompact space. If X is a pseudocompact space, it is observed that C(X) = Cc(X) if and only if βX is scattered. Finally, the simplest possible proof (with reasoning) among the known proofs, of the well-known fact that discrete spaces of cardinality less than or equal to that of the continuum are realcompact, is given.  相似文献

We study the hyperspace K 0(X) of non-empty compact subsets of a Smyth-complete quasi-metric space (X, d). We show that K 0(X), equipped with the Hausdorff quasi-pseudometric H d forms a (sequentially) Yoneda-complete space. Moreover, if d is a T 1 quasi-metric, then the hyperspace is algebraic, and the set of all finite subsets forms a base for it. Finally, we prove that K 0(X), H d ) is Smyth-complete if (X, d) is Smyth-complete and all compact subsets of X are d −1-precompact.  相似文献

LetX be any compact convex subset of a locally convex Hausdorff space andE be a complex Banach space. We denote byA(X, E) the space of all continuous and affineE-valued functions defined onX. In this paper we prove thatX is a Choquet simplex if and only if the dual ofA(X, E) is isometrically isomorphic by a selection map toM m (X, E*), the space ofE*-valued,w*-regular boundary measures onX. This extends and strengthens a result of G. M. Ustinov. To do this we show that for any compact convex setX, each element of the dual ofA(X, E) can be represented by a measure inM m (X, E*) with the same norm, and this representation is unique if and only ifX is a Choquet simplex. We also prove that ifX is metrizable andE is separable then there exists a selection map from the unit ball of the dual ofA(X, E) into the unit ball ofM m (X, E*) which is weak* to weak*-Borel measurable. This work will constitute a portion of the author's Ph.D. Thesis at the University of Illinois.  相似文献

It is proved that for a zero-dimensional space X, the function space C p (X, 2) has a Vietoris continuous selection for its hyperspace of at most 2-point sets if and only if X is separable. This provides the complete affirmative solution to a question posed by Tamariz-Mascarúa. It is also obtained that for a strongly zero-dimensional metrizable space E, the function space C p (X, E) is weakly orderable if and only if its hyperspace of at most 2-point sets has a Vietoris continuous selection. This provides a partial positive answer to a question posed by van Mill and Wattel.  相似文献

A topological space is called resolvable if it is a union of two disjoint dense subsets, and is n-resolvable if it is a union of n mutually disjoint dense subsets. Clearly a resolvable space has no isolated points. If f is a selfmap on X, the sets A?X with f (A)?A are the closed sets of an Alexandroff topology called the primal topology 𝒫(f ) associated with f. We investigate resolvability for primal spaces (X, 𝒫(f)). Our main result is that an Alexandroff space is resolvable if and only if it has no isolated points. Moreover, n-resolvability and other related concepts are investigated for primal spaces.  相似文献

We consider the problem of embedding a certain finite metric space to the Euclidean space, trying to keep the bi-Lipschitz constant as small as possible. We introduce the notationc 2(X, d) for the least distortion with which the metric space (X, d) may be embedded in a Euclidean space. It is known that if (X, d) is a metric space withn points, thenc 2(X, d)≤0(logn) and the bound is tight. LetT be a tree withn vertices, andd be the metric induced by it. We show thatc 2(T, d)≤0(log logn), that is we provide an embeddingf of its vertices to the Euclidean space, such thatd(x, y)≤‖f(x)−f(y) ‖≤c log lognd(x, y) for some constantc. The paper deals with the approximation of bounded real functions f on a compact metric space (X, d) by so-called controllable step functions in continuation of [Ri/Ste]. These step functions are connected with controllable coverings, that are finite coverings of compact metric spaces by subsets whose sizes fulfil a uniformity condition depending on the entropy numbers εn(X) of the space X. We show that a strong form of local finiteness holds for these coverings on compact metric subspaces of IRm and Sm. This leads to a Bernstein type theorem if the space is of finite convex information. In this case the corresponding approximation numbers εn(f) have the same asymptotics its ω(f, εn(X)) for f ε C(X). Finally, the results concerning functions f ε M(X) and f ε C(X) are transferred to operators with values in M(X) and C(X), respectively.  相似文献

Let X be a Banach space. Let Hw*(X*) the Fréchet space whose elements are the holomorphic functions defined on X* whose restrictions to each multiple mB(X*), m = 1,2, …, of the closed unit ball B(X*) of X* are continuous for the weak-star topology. A fundamental system of norms for this space is the supremum of the absolute value of each element of Hw*(X*) in mB(X*), m = 1,2,…. In this paper we construct the bidual of l1 when this space contains no copy of l1. We also show that if X is an Asplund space, then Hw*(X*) can be represented as the projective limit of a sequence of Banach spaces that are Asplund.  相似文献

Given a homogeneous space X = G/H with an invariant measure it is shown, using Grothendieck's inequality, that a G-invariant Hilbert subspace of the space of distributions of order zero on X is actually contained in Lloc2(X). Moreover, if θ is an automorphism on G appropriately related to H, it is shown that, under condition that H-orbits are smooth, an H-bi-invariant distribution of positive type on G satisfies the identity Ťθ = T if the corresponding Hilbert space is contained in Lloc2(X). This shows that, under the smooth orbit condition, G-invariant Hilbert subspaces of Lloc2 (X) have a unique decomposition into irreducible Hilbert spaces as in the case of generalized Gelfand pairs.  相似文献

Let L be a finite-dimensional complex simple Lie algebra, L ? be the ?-span of a Chevalley basis of L, and L R  = R ?? L ? be a Chevalley algebra of type L over a commutative ring R. Let 𝒩(R) be the nilpotent subalgebra of L R spanned by the root vectors associated with positive roots. A map ? of 𝒩(R) is called commuting if [?(x), x] = 0 for all x ∈ 𝒩(R). In this article, we prove that under some conditions for R, if Φ is not of type A 2, then a derivation (resp., an automorphism) of 𝒩(R) is commuting if and only if it is a central derivation (resp., automorphism), and if Φ is of type A 2, then a derivation (resp., an automorphism) of 𝒩(R) is commuting if and only if it is a sum (resp., a product) of a graded diagonal derivation (resp., automorphism) and a central derivation (resp., automorphism).  相似文献

Abstract

Using a lifting of £ (μ, X) ([5],[6]), we construct a lifting ρ x of the seminormed vector space £ (μ, X) of measurable, essentially bounded X-valued functions. We show that in a certain sense such a lifting always exists. If μ is Lebesgue measure on (0, 1) we show that ρ x exists as map from £ ((O, 1), X) → £,((0, l), X) if and only if X is reflexive. In general the lifted function takes its values in X **. Therefore we investigate the question, when f ε £ (μ, X) is strictly liftable in the sense that the lifted function is a map with values even in X.

As an application we introduce the space £ strong (μ, L (X, Y**)), a subspace of the space of strongly measurable, essentially bounded L (X, Y, **)-valued functions, and the associated quotient space £ strong (μ, L (X,Y**)). We show that this space is a Banach space because there is a kind of a Dunford-Pettis Theorem for a subspace of L (X, £(μ Y**)). Finally we investigate the measurability property of functions in £(μ Y**)) und see that there exists a connection to the Radon-Nikodym property of the space L (X, Y).  相似文献

Let X be a smooth projective variety over ? and L be a nef-big divisor on X. Then (X, L) is called a quasi - polarized manifold. Then we conjecture that g(L)q(X), where g(L) is the sectional genus of L and q(X) = dim H1(Ox) is the irregularity of X. In general it is unknown that this conjecture is true or not even in the case of dim X = 2. For example, this conjecture is true if dim X = 2 and dim H(L) > 0. But it is unknown if dim X ≥ 3 and dim H0(L) > 0. In this paper, we consider a lower bound for g(L) if dim X = 2, dim H0(L) ≥ 2, and k(X) ≥ 0. We obtain a stronger result than the above conjecture if dim Bs|L| ≤ 0 by a new method which can be applied to higher dimensional cases. Next we apply this method to the case in which dim X = n ≥ 3 and we obtain a lower bound for g(L) if dim X = 3, dim H0(L) ≥ 2, and k(X) ≥ 0.  相似文献

For any weightable quasi-metric space (X, d) having a maximum with respect to the associated order ≤ d , the notion of the quasi-metric of complexity convergence on the the function space (equivalently, the space of sequences) Xω , is introduced and studied. We observe that its induced quasi-uniformity is finer than the quasi-uniformity of pointwise convergence and weaker than the quasi-uniformity of uniform convergence. We show that it coincides with the quasi-uniformity of pointwise convergence if and only if the quasi-metric space (X, d) is bounded and it coincides with the quasi-uniformity of uniform convergence if and only if X is a singleton. We also investigate completeness of the quasi-metric of complexity convergence. Finally, we obtain versions of the celebrated Grothendieck theorem in this context.  相似文献

Summary Under investigation are measures m defined on a σ-algebraA with range in a Banach space X having a Schauder basis {xn}. Utilizing the corresponding coefficient functionals and coefficient measures, we study the interaction between properties for these measures and properties for the existing measure m. For the spaceCA(A, X) of all countably additive measures of finite variation fromA into X, we show that certain separable subspaces of it are isomorphic-isometric with certain separable subspaces of functions of bounded variation on the interval [0, 1]. For {vn} inCA(A, X) such that {vn(A)} converges to v(A) for all A εA a certain ? control measure ? is constructed. An integral for set functions relative to a measure is defined and necessary and sufficient conditions are given for weak convergence. Bounded operators on the space FAC(A,R) of finitelly additive scalar valued set functions onA which are absolutely continuous with respect to λ are considered. Necessary and sufficient conditions for continuity and for compactness are given for Banach space valued operators T defined on such spaces. Weak compactness of T is also studied. Finally, a different kind of representation is given for Banach space valued operators defined on the space FAv(A, X) of finitely additive set functions fromA into X. Let Aut(X, B) be the group of all Borel automorphisms of a standard Borel space (X, B). We study topological properties of Aut(X, B) with respect to the uniform and weak topologies, τ and p, defined in [Bezuglyi S., Dooley A.H., Kwiatkowski J., Topologies on the group of Borel automorphisms of a standard Borel space, Preprint 2003]. It is proved that the class of smooth automorphisms is dense in (Aut(X, B), p). Let Ctbl(X) denote the group of Borel automorphisms with countable support. It is shown that the topological group Aut0(X, B) = Aut(X, B)/Ctbl(X) is path-connected with respect to the quotient topology τ0. It is also proved that Aut0(X, B) has the Rokhlin property in the quotient topology p0, i.e., the action of Aut0(X,B) on itself by conjugation is topologically transitive.  相似文献
