We propose a model for multicomponent flow of immiscible fluids in a deformable porous medium accounting for capillary hysteresis. Oil, water, and air in the soil pores offer a typical example of a real situation occurring in practice. We state the problem within the formalism of continuum mechanics as a slow diffusion process in Lagrange coordinates. The balance laws for volumes, masses, and momentum lead to a degenerate parabolic PDE system. In the special case of a rigid solid matrix material and three fluid components, we prove under further technical assumptions that the system is mathematically well posed in a small neighborhood of an equilibrium.  相似文献

We consider a two-phase Stefan problem for a semi-infinite body x>0, with a convective boundary condition including a density jump at the free boundary with a time-dependent heat transfer coefficient of the type h/t, h>0 whose solution was given in D. A. Tarzia, PAMM. Proc. Appl. Math. Mech. 7, 1040307–1040308 (2007). We demonstrate that the solution to this problem converges to the solution to the analogous one with a temperature boundary condition when the heat transfer coefficient h+. Moreover, we analyze the dependence of the free boundary respecting to the jump density.  相似文献

We construct an asymptotic solution of the phase field system with variable thermal conductivity different in domains occupied by different phases. We show that, depending on relations between parameters characterizing the substance, the dynamics of the free interface between the phases is determined by solutions of the classical or modified Stefan problems. The present article deals with the Tricomi problem for general second order equations of mixed type with parabolic degeneracy. Firstly the formulation of the problem for the equations is given, next the representations and estimates of solutions for the above problem are obtained, finally the existence of solutions for the problem is proved by the successive iteration and the method of parameter extension. In this article, we use the complex method, namely the complex functions in the elliptic domain and the hyperbolic complex functions in hyperbolic domain are used (see Wen, 2002, Linear and Quasilinear Equations of Hyperbolic and Mixed Types (London: Taylor and Francis)).  相似文献

We introduce a Darcy-scale model to describe compressible multicomponent flow in a fully saturated porous medium. In order to capture cross-diffusive effects between the different species correctly, we make use of the Maxwell–Stefan theory in a thermodynamically consistent way. For inviscid flow, the model turns out to be a nonlinear system of hyperbolic balance laws. We show that the dissipative structure of the Maxwell-Stefan operator permits to guarantee the existence of global classical solutions for initial data close to equilibria. Furthermore, it is proven by relative entropy techniques that solutions of the Darcy-scale model tend in a certain long-time regime to solutions of a parabolic limit system.  相似文献

We consider a one-phase Stefan problem for the heat equation with a nonlinear reaction term. We first exhibit an energy condition, involving the initial data, under which the solution blows up in finite time in norm. We next prove that all global solutions are bounded and decay uniformly to 0, and that either: (i) the free boundary converges to a finite limit and the solution decays at an exponential rate, or (ii) the free boundary grows up to infinity and the decay rate is at most polynomial. Finally, we show that small data solutions behave like (i).

In this paper, we prove a bifurcation phenomenon in a two-phase, singularly perturbed, free boundary problem of phase transition. We show that the uniqueness of the solution for the two-phase problem breaks down as the boundary data decreases through a threshold value. For boundary values below the threshold, there are at least three solutions, namely, the harmonic solution which is treated as a trivial solution in the absence of a free boundary, a nontrivial minimizer of the functional under consideration, and a third solution of the mountain-pass type. We classify these solutions according to the stability through evolution. The evolution with initial data near a stable solution, such as the trivial harmonic solution or a minimizer of the functional, converges to the stable solution. On the other hand, the evolution deviates away from a non-minimal solution of the free boundary problem.  相似文献

In this paper we consider chemical vapor deposition of pyrolytic carbon from methane in hot wall reactors. Especially, we deal with the interaction of homogeneous gas-phase and heterogeneous surface reactions. The resulting mathematical model is composed of a system of reaction-diffusion equations in a corner domain supplied with the Gibbs-Thomson law, which describes the movement of the free boundary, arising from the carbon deposition. We prove a short time existence and uniqueness result in Hölder spaces. We achieve this by contraction arguments and transforming the Gibbs-Thomson law to local coordinates to obtain a nonlinear parabolic equation on a manifold.  相似文献

Ductal carcinoma in situ – a special cancer – is confined within the breast ductal only. We derive the mathematical ductal carcinoma in situ model in a form of a nonlinear parabolic equation with initial, boundary, and free boundary conditions. In this paper, we prove the existence and uniqueness of the weak solution of the one‐dimensional compressible Navier–Stokes equations with density‐dependent viscosity µ(ρ)=ρθ with θ∈(0, γ?2], γ>1. The initial data are a perturbation of a corresponding steady solution and continuously contact with vacuum on the free boundary. The obtained results apply for the one‐dimensional Siant–Venant model of shallow water and generalize ones in (Arch. Rational Mech. Anal. 2006; 182: 223–253).
