On f-bi-harmonic maps and bi-f-harmonic maps between Riemannian manifolds

Both bi-harmonic maps and f-harmonic maps have some nice physical motivation and applications.Motivated largely by f-tension field not involving Riemannian curvature tensor, we attempt to formalize some large objects so as to broaden the notions of f-tension field and bi-tension field. We introduce a very large generalization of harmonic maps called f-bi-harmonic maps as the critical points of f-bi-energy functional, and then derive the Euler-Lagrange equation of f-bi-energy functional given by the vanishing of f-bi-tension field.Subsequently, we study some properties of f-bi-harmonic maps between the same dimensional manifolds and give a non-trivial example. Furthermore, we also study the basic properties of f-bi-harmonic maps on a warped product manifold so that we could find some interesting and complicated examples.     

Absolute extensors and absolute neighborhood extensors in asymptotic categories

This paper deals with extending maps in asymptotic categories, i.e., in categories consisting of metric spaces and asymptotically Lipschitz coarsely proper maps. We demonstrate certain examples of absolute extensors and absolute neighborhood extensors. We give some conditions under which a version of Borsuk's homotopy extension theorem holds in these categories, and in answer to a problem posed by Dranishnikov in [Russian Math. Surveys 55 (2000) 1085] we show the failure of a general homotopy extension theorem. Finally, we show that a pair of an Hadamard space and its convex subspace has the homotopy extension property.     

f-Harmonic maps of doubly warped product manifolds

In this paper, we study f-harmonicity of some special maps from or into a doubly warped product manifold. First we recall some properties of doubly twisted product manifolds. After showing that the inclusion maps from Riemannian manifolds M and N into the doubly warped product manifold M × _μ,λ N can not be proper f-harmonic maps, we use projection maps and product maps to construct nontrivial f-harmonic maps. Thus we obtain some similar results given in [21], such as the conditions for f-harmonicity of projection maps and some characterizations for non-trivial f-harmonicity of the special product maps. Furthermore, we investigate non-trivial f-harmonicity of the product of two harmonic maps.     

On the Kernel of the Reciprocity Map of Normal Surfaces over Finite Fields

The reciprocity map of a smooth proper variety over a finite field is known to have a trivial kernel and dense image. In this paper, we investigate the reciprocity map of a normal surface proper over a finite field and give two examples of normal projective surfaces whose reciprocity maps are not injective.

假设T_m(D)是体D上所有上三角m×m矩阵的集合.首先分别给出诱导映射和保幂等性的定义.然后为了刻画T_m(D)的保幂等的诱导映射,提出类序列的概念,同时描述类序列的性质.最后,使用矩阵技术和初等方法,借助于分类讨论得到了T_m(D)的保幂等的诱导映射的一般形式并且给出了某些例子,用以解释某些结果之间的关系.     

A generalization of Hahn-Banach extension theorem

In this paper, the notion of affinelike set-valued maps is introduced and some properties of these maps are presented. Then a new Hahn-Banach extension theorem with a K-convex set-valued map dominated by an affinelike set-valued map is obtained.     

Measure estimates of nodal sets of bi-harmonic functions

In this paper, we define a frequency for bi-harmonic functions. By using this frequency, we give the measure estimates of nodal sets of bi-harmonic functions. We also show that the frequency has some interesting properties similar to the frequency of harmonic functions.     

Proper biharmonic submanifolds in a sphere

In this paper, we obtain a constraint of the mean curvature for proper biharmonic submanifolds in a sphere. We give some characterizations of some proper biharmonic submanifolds with parallel mean curvature vector in a sphere. We also construct some new examples of proper biharmonic submanifolds in a sphere.

On the topological entropy of the free semigroup action generated by proper maps

In this paper, we introduce the topological entropy of a free semigroup action generated by proper maps, which extends the notions of the topological entropy of the free semigroup actions defined by Bufetov in 1999 and topological entropy of the proper maps defined by Patrão in 2010. We then give some properties of these notions and discuss the relations between them. We also give a partial variational principle for locally compact separable metric spaces. Moreover, the relationship between topological entropy of the free semigroup generated by proper maps and topological entropy of a skew-product transformation is given. These results extend the results obtained by Patrão, Bufetov and Lin, Ma and Wang in 2018.     

On twistor Gauss maps of surfaces in 4-spheres

In this paper we study surfaces in S⁴ and their twistor Gauss maps. Some necessary and sufficient conditions that the twistor Gauss map is harmonic are given. We find many examples of nonisotropic harmonic maps from a surface to P ³.Supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Science Foundation of Zhejiang Province.     

A classification of regular embeddings of hypercubes Q_(2m) with m odd

In this paper we give a classification of the orientable regular embeddings of Q_n for n=2m with m odd.Actually we prove that the known examples given by Kwon are the only regular maps of Q_n when n=2m (m odd).     

Geometrically nilpotent subvarieties

We construct some examples of polynomial maps over finite fields that admit subvarieties with a peculiar property: every geometric point is mapped to a fixed point by some iteration of the map, while the whole subvariety is not. Several related open questions are stated and discussed.     

Which linear-fractional composition operators are essentially normal?

We characterize the essentially normal composition operators induced on the Hardy space H² by linear-fractional maps; they are either compact, normal, or (the nontrivial case) induced by parabolic nonautomorphisms. These parabolic maps induce the first known examples of nontrivially essentially normal composition operators. In addition, we characterize those linear-fractionally induced composition operators on H² that are essentially self-adjoint, and present a number of results for composition operators induced by maps that are not linear-fractional.     

The Étale Homology and the Cycle Maps in Adic Coefficients

In this article, we define the $ℓ$-adic homology for a morphism of schemes satisfying certain finiteness conditions. This homology has these functors similar to the Chow groups: proper push-forward, flat pull-back, base change, cap-product, etc. In particular, on singular varieties, this kind of $ℓ$-adic homology behaves much better than the classical $ℓ$-adic cohomology. As an application, we give a much easier approach to construct the cycle maps for arbitrary algebraic schemes over fields. And we prove that these cycle maps kill the algebraic equivalences and commute with the Chern action of locally free sheaves.     

Abstract Korovkin-type theorems in modular spaces and applications

We prove some versions of abstract Korovkin-type theorems in modular function spaces, with respect to filter convergence for linear positive operators, by considering several kinds of test functions. We give some results with respect to an axiomatic convergence, including almost convergence. An extension to non positive operators is also studied. Finally, we give some examples and applications to moment and bivariate Kantorovich-type operators, showing that our results are proper extensions of the corresponding classical ones.

On conformal biharmonic immersions

This paper studies conformal biharmonic immersions. We first study the transformations of Jacobi operator and the bitension field under conformal change of metrics. We then obtain an invariant equation for a conformal biharmonic immersion of a surface into Euclidean 3-space. As applications, we construct a two-parameter family of non-minimal conformal biharmonic immersions of cylinder into and some examples of conformal biharmonic immersions of four-dimensional Euclidean space into sphere and hyperbolic space, thus providing many simple examples of proper biharmonic maps with rich geometric meanings. These suggest that there are abundant proper biharmonic maps in the family of conformal immersions. We also explore the relationship between biharmonicity and holomorphicity of conformal immersions of surfaces.

Completely bounded disjointness preserving operators between Fourier algebras

In this paper, we characterize surjective completely bounded disjointness preserving linear operators on Fourier algebras of locally compact amenable groups. We show that such operators are given by weighted homomorphisms induced by piecewise affine proper maps.
