We propose and analyze a novel multiway high efficiency composite beam splitter based on propagation properties of the light waves in directional coupler and Y-junction. The splitting properties of the beam splitter have been numerically simulated and analyzed using the PWE and FDTD methods. Then in order to obtain equal distribution of power, we place and adjust some additional rods in the output waveguides to optimize the devices. It was shown that a large separating angle, a high beam rate, high flexibility, has been extended to have more light output channels in the beam splitter.  相似文献

A polarizing beam splitter (PBS) and a non-polarizing beam splitter (NPBS) based on a photonic crystal (PC) directional coupler are demonstrated. The photonic crystal directional coupler consists of a hexagonal lattice of dielectric pillars in air and has a complete photonic band gap. The photonic band structure and the band gap map are calculated using the plane wave expansion (PWE) method. The splitting properties of the splitter are investigated numerically using the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method.  相似文献

We propose an identical geometrical representation scheme for both Landau–Zener(LZ) tunneling process in twowaveguide coupler with a cubically bent structure and stimulated Raman adiabatic passage(STIRAP) in three-waveguide coupler, similar to the geometrical representation of sum frequency process. The results show that although the twowaveguide coupler with a cubically bent axis has not aperiodic structure, it acts as a chirped quasi-phase-matching(QPM)grating and corrects the relative phase between the two supermodes in the curved coupler system. We present a scheme about how to choose the parameters to design the curved beam splitter.  相似文献

分析了采用分束器构建干涉型复合腔进行激光束相干合成的过程与原理.利用分束器的特征矩阵研究了分束时产生的反射与透射相移,得到了两束相干光经过分束器分束后进行相干叠加时相移满足的普适关系,从相移的角度解释了分束器一侧发生相长干涉时另一侧必然发生相消干涉这一现象.比较了分束器与光纤耦合器在激光束相干合成应用中的一些特性,并验证了所得相移关系式的正确性.  相似文献

A 3-dB optical coupler (power splitter) based on a Y-junction waveguide with a channel profile of proton-exchanged lithium niobate has been modeled. Finite difference beam propagation method has been used to investigate light wave propagation in axially varying waveguides. It is found that the structure splits the input power equally at the Y-junction with an efficiency of 99% and an average excess loss ?0.04 dB. The novelty of the coupling structure proposed is its capability to function as a wavelength-independent 3-dB coupler while maintaining very low-power imbalance for widespread optical communication wavelengths of 1.3 and 1.55 µm.  相似文献

A star coupler-based beam splitter for rib waveguides is reported. A design method is presented and applied in the case of silicon-on-insulator rib waveguides. Experimental results are in good agreement with simulations. Excess loss lower than 1 dB is experimentally obtained for star coupler lengths from 0.5 to 1 μm. Output balance is better than 1 dB, which is the measurement accuracy, and broadband transmission is obtained over 90 nm.  相似文献

We propose and demonstrate a bi-wavelength two dimensional (2D) waveguide grating coupler on silicon-on-insulator which has efficient coupling of optical light with two-wavelength bands independently between standard optical single mode fibers and nanophotonic waveguides. The details of design are described and the measurement results as well as system performance are experimentally characterized. The bi-wavelength grating coupler can be used as wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) splitter/combiner for monolithically silicon integrated transceivers, potentially meeting the low cost requirements for future WDM passive optical network (PON).  相似文献

提出了一种基于达曼光栅的动态光耦合器,通过控制装置中达曼光栅位移参量,可实现入射光束的分束或合束以及两者之间的动态转换。适当选择达曼光栅类型可实现任意N×M的动态光耦合。实验中以1550 nm光波长为例,对1×8达曼动态光耦合器进行测量,测得其实现光开关功能时插入损耗为0.43 dB,实现光分束功能时均匀性达到0.03,单路插入损耗均值为10.5 dB。该实验装置易于调节、体积小、能耗低,且关键元件达曼光栅制作工艺成熟,易于批量化生产。特别是在实现中大规模光交换阵列时,该方案就具有更明显的优越性,有实用意义。  相似文献

We propose an ultracompact polarization beam splitter based on an asymmetric directional coupler, which comprises of a horizontally slotted waveguide and a hybrid plasmonic waveguide. The splitter is designed such that there is a large difference between the effective indices of the TE-polarized modes for the two waveguides, while the effective index difference between the TM-polarized modes are quite small in a wide wavelength range. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed splitter with a short device length of 5 μm shows extinction ratios as low as ?20 dB with bandwidths as great as 100 nm.  相似文献

The optical design of a beam splitter that has a 50/50 splitting ratio regardless of the polarization is presented. The non-polarizing beam splitter (NPBS) is based on the fused-silica rectangular transmission gratings with high intensity tolerance. The modal method has been used to estimate the effective index of the modes excited in the grating region for TE and TM polarizations. If a phase difference equals an odd multiples of π/2 for the first two modes (i.e. modes 0 and 1), the incident light will be diffracted into the 0 and ?1 orders with about 50% and 50% diffraction efficiency for TM and TE polarizations, respectively.  相似文献

 基于分束镜反射率和透射率的乘积为衡量标准的原则,设计了13.9nm软X射线激光干涉测量所需的多层膜分束镜,用磁控溅射法在有效面积达10mm×10mm,厚100nm的氮化硅窗口上镀制Mo/Si多层膜,实现了分束镜制作。用表面轮廓仪实测分束镜面形精度达到nm量级,同步辐射反射率计测试表明,分束镜的反射率和透射率乘积约4%。  相似文献

We calculate the Wigner quasiprobability distribution function of the quantum elliptical vortex in elliptical beam (EEV), produced by coupling squeezed coherent states of two modes. The coupling between the two modes is performed by using beam splitter (BS) or a dual channel directional coupler (DCDC). The quantum interference due to the coupling between the two modes promises the generation of controlled entanglement for quantum computation and quantum tomography.  相似文献

Integrated photonics enables the miniaturization of bulk optical components for biosensing applications such as optical coherence tomography (OCT) and is therefore promising for future lab-on-chip solutions. Here, we report the design and simulation of a compact low loss broadband beam splitter with arbitrary coupling ratios on silicon nitride platform for OCT systems. The reported coupler uses asymmetric waveguide-based phase control section for 10:90, 20:80, 30:70, 40:60, and 50:50 splitting ratios and is broadband over 100 nm with the central wavelength of 850 nm. The couplers are realized for transverse electric, transverse magnetic, and fully vectorial modes, and maximum excess loss for all mode types is reported to be less than 0.19 dB. The design tolerance of waveguide width and thickness of the designed coupler is further calculated and is within fabrication limit.  相似文献

We report a photonic crystal fiber (PCF)-based optical coherence tomography (OCT) system, in which conventional single-mode fiber for the transmission line and the fiber coupler for the beam splitter/combiner are replaced with PCF and PCF coupler. The PCF coupler fabricated using the fused biconical tapered (FBT) method showed a nearly flat coupling ratio over a broad spectral bandwidth of 400 nm, which provided an axial resolution of 3-μm for OCT imaging. With a white-light source, the 8-μm thick air gap between two stacked cover glasses was measured, and with a conventional superluminecent diode (SLD) source, the in vitro images of rat eye and Misgurnus mizolepis skin were successfully obtained. The PCF and PCF coupler might enable a white-light as the source for the cost effective and high-resolution OCT system.  相似文献

It has been reported that a polarizing beam splitter based on a rectangular-groove grating (a grating polarizing beam splitter) can be easily designed for specific applications using the modal method. In this paper, the eigenvalue equation of the modal method is transformed to a new form. Using this new form of the eigenvalue equation, it is shown that the design of a grating polarizing beam splitter can be independent of the incident wavelength. The period and the groove depth can be designed using values normalized to the incident wavelength, which apply to a range of wavelengths as long as the effects of dispersion can be neglected. Numerical simulations of fused silica gratings are presented and analyzed. It is concluded that the preferable choice for the grating period is 0.8–0.9 times the incident wavelength.  相似文献

Modal analysis of a deep-etched low-contrast two-port beam splitter grating under Littrow mounting is presented. The guideline for the design of a subwavelength transmission fused-silica phase grating as high-efficiency grating, polarizing beam splitter (PBS), and two-port beam splitter, is summarized. As an example, a polarization-independent two-port beam splitter grating is designed at wavelength of 1064 nm. We firstly analyzed the physical essence of the grating by the simplified modal method. The guideline for the grating design and the approximate grating parameters are obtained. Then using the rigorous coupled-wave analysis (RCWA) with parameters varying around the approximate ones, optimum grating parameters can be determined. With the design guideline, the time for the rigorous calculation of the grating profile parameters can be reduced significantly.  相似文献

An enlarging lens, composed of a charge-coupled-device (CCD) lens and an f-Θ lens, has been designed for real time laser lithography visual inspection purposes. The object of this design is to enlarge the image of the working specimens in real time, which used to be done by an independent magnifying system after the lithography process. F-Θ lens has both roles in this design, being a laser lithography lens and a specimen imaging lens. A beam splitter has been inserted between the f-Θ lens and the CCD lens, which divides the UV laser beam and the visible beam to form a coaxial system. This design also reaches the image requirements in both wavelength bands, that the value of MTF is nearly diffraction-limit in UV wavelength and greater than 0.45 at 40 c/mm in visible wavelength.  相似文献

将多光子晶体单模波导平行、邻近放置构成定向耦合器. 依据自映像原理,数值分析了输入光场对称入射时,该系统中光的传播行为. 基于此结构,以三、四通道为例,设计了超微多路光分束器,并仅通过对称地改变耦合区中两个介质柱的有效折射率,使光场在横向发生重新分布,实现了输出能量的均分或自由分配. 和已报道结果相比,此调制方法更为简单易行而且效率更高,并可以推广到具有更多输出通道的光分束器中,在未来的集成光回路中具有广泛的应用价值. 关键词: 光子晶体波导 定向耦合器 分束器 能量均分  相似文献
