The interaction between disturbances in the hypersonic boundary layer on impermeable and porous surfaces is considered within the framework of weakly-nonlinear stability theory. It is established that on the impermeable surface nonlinear interactions between different waves (acoustic and vortex) occur in the parametric resonance regime. The role of pumping wave is played by a plane acoustic wave. The nonlinear interactions take place over a wide frequency range and can lead to the packet growth of Tollmien-Schlichting waves. On the porous surface the analogous interactions are fairly weak and result in a slight decay of the acoustic mode and a slight amplification of the vortex mode. This leads to the dragging out of the laminar flow regime and the regions of linear disturbance growth. In this situation the low-frequency spectrum of the vortex modes may be filled on account of the nonlinear processes occurring in the three-wave systems between the vortex components.  相似文献

The three-frequency resonance of Tolman-Schlichting waves, one of which propagates along the stream while the other two propagate at adjacent angles to it, is investigated as a function of the spectrum and initial intensity in incompressible flows of the boundary-layer type within the framework of a weakly nonlinear theory. In the parallel-flow approximation such an interaction leads to the formation of unstable self-oscillations. The spatial evolution of the associated disturbances is studied with allowance for the self-similar deformation of the velocity profile of the main flow. It is shown that such development can lead to a sharp amplification of the oscillations, primarily of those propagating at an angle to the flow. The role of the effects under consideration in the transitional process and the connection with experimental data are discussed. As experiments [1, 2] show, in the process of a transition from a laminar boundary layer to a turbulent region, well described by the linear theory of hydrodynamic stability, there first comes a section of the excitation of harmonics of a Tolman-Schlichting wave, the appearance of three-dimensional structures, and a rapid growth in the intensity of low-frequency oscillations. There is no doubt that in this section the phenomena are dependent on the nonlinear character of the development with disturbances. The resonance interaction of wave triads can play an important role in this. For small enough amplitudes such an interaction is described by a first-order theory [3, 4], and in the general case the nonlinear effects associated with them should occur sooner than others. The importance of resonance triads for the explanation of the development of three-dimensional structures in a layer and the generation of intense pulsations has already been emphasized in [5, 6]. The clarification of the properties of the evolution of resonantly interacting disturbances therefore is important for an understanding of this transitional process.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 5, pp. 78–84, September–October, 1978.The authors thank V. The mechanisms of development of slow time-dependent disturbances in the wall region of a hypersonic boundary layer are established and a diagram of the disturbed flow patterns is plotted; the corresponding nonlinear boundary value problem is formulated for each of these regimes. It is shown that the main factors that form the disturbed flow are the gas enthalpy near the body surface, the local viscous-inviscid interaction level, and the type, either subsonic or supersonic, of the boundary layer as a whole. Numerical and analytical solutions are obtained in the linear approximation. It is established that enhancement of the local viscous-inviscid interaction or an increased role for the main supersonic region of the boundary layer makes the disturbed flow by and large “supersonic”: the upstream propagation of the disturbances becomes weaker, while their downstream growth is amplified. Contrariwise, local viscous-inviscid interaction attenuation or an increased role for the main subsonic region of the boundary layer has the opposite effect. Surface cooling favors an increased effect of the main region of the boundary layer while heating favors an increased wall region effect. It is also found that in the regimes considered disturbances travel from the turbulent flow region downstream of the disturbed region under consideration counter to the oncoming flow, which may be of considerable significance in constructing the nonlinear stability theory.  相似文献

The results of the experimental investigation of the nonlinear stage of laminar-turbulent transition in the hypersonic boundary layer on porous and impermeable cone surfaces are presented. The bispectral analysis is applied to show that the porous surface suppresses the subharmonic resonance due to second mode disturbances. It is established that on the porous surface nonlinear processes develop more slowly than on the impermeable surface. This behavior indicates that the subharmonic resonance plays the role of a catalyzer in transferring energy from the mean flow to low-frequency disturbances in transition process, in much the same way as it occurs in a subsonic boundary layer.  相似文献

Direct numerical simulations of the evolution of disturbances in a viscous shock layer on a flat plate are performed for a free-stream Mach number M = 21 and Reynolds number Re L = 1.44 · 105. Unsteady Navier-Stokes equations are solved by a high-order shock-capturing scheme. Processes of receptivity and instability development in a shock layer excited by external acoustic waves are considered. Direct numerical simulations are demonstrated to agree well with results obtained by the locally parallel linear stability theory (with allowance for the shock-wave effect) and with experimental measurements in a hypersonic wind tunnel. Mechanisms of conversion of external disturbances to instability waves in a hypersonic shock layer are discussed. __________ Translated from Prikladnaya Mekhanika i Tekhnicheskaya Fizika, Vol. 48, No. 3, pp. 84–91, May–June, 2007.  相似文献

The effect of the location of a passive porous coating on natural disturbances in a hypersonic boundary layer is studied experimentally. The experiments are performed in the flow around a sharp cone aligned at a zero angle of attack with the free-stream Mach number M = 5.8, stagnation temperature T 0 = 370 ± 5 K, and unit Reynolds numbers Re1∞ = 2.6 · 106, 4.6 · 106, 6.6 · 106, and 107 m?1. The wave characteristics of the boundary layer are calculated with the use of the linear stability theory for flow parameters corresponding to experimental values. A comparison of experimental and predicted results shows that the presence of a porous coating in the region where the second mode is unstable leads to reduction of its amplitude at the measurement point, whereas the presence of a porous coating in the region of second mode stability leads to enhancement of the amplitude.  相似文献

The effect of passive porous coatings of different lengths on the second mode of disturbances in a hypersonic boundary layer is considered. The experiments are performed in a flow with a free-stream Mach number M = 5.8 and five values of the unit Reynolds number around a sharp cone with an apex half-angle equal to 7°, which is aligned at a zero angle of attack. One half of the model surface along its generatrix is covered by a porous material, and the other part is a solid surface. Pressure fluctuations on the model surface are measured. It is found that application of a passive porous coating can either decrease or increase the amplitude of the second mode. The length of the passive porous coating corresponding to the maximum efficiency of its action on flow disturbances and the coating length that increases the amplitude of the second mode are found.  相似文献

A regime diagram of the development of slow near-wall disturbances induced by an unsteady self-induced pressure perturbation in a hypersonic boundary layer is constructed for a disturbance wavelength greater than the boundary layer thickness. It is shown that the main factors shaping the perturbed flow are the gas enthalpy near the body surface, the intensity of the viscous-inviscid interaction, and the nature (sub- or supersonic) of the main part of the boundary layer. Nonlinear boundary-value problems are formulated for regimes in which the near-wall boundary layer region plays a decisive role. Numerical and analytical solutions are obtained in the linear approximation. It is shown that intensification of the viscous-inviscid interaction or an increase in the role of the supersonic main region of the boundary layer impart generally supersonic properties to the main part of the boundary layer, i.e. the upstream propagation of the disturbances is damped and the disturbance growth downstream becomes more intense. Damping of the viscous-inviscid interaction and an increase in the role of the subsonic main part of the boundary layer have the opposite effect. Surface cooling increases the effect of the main part of the boundary layer on the formation of pressure disturbances and surface heating leads to an increase in the effect of the near-wall boundary layer region. It is also shown that for the regimes considered disturbances propagate in a direction opposite to that of the free stream from the turbulent flow region located downstream of the local disturbance development region.Translated from Izvestiya Rossiiskoi Academii Nauk, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 6, 2004, pp. 59–71. A numerical algorithm and code are developed and applied to direct numerical simulation (DNS) of unsteady two-dimensional flow fields relevant to stability of the hypersonic boundary layer. An implicit second-order finite-volume technique is used for solving the compressible Navier–Stokes equations. Numerical simulation of disturbances generated by a periodic suction-blowing on a flat plate is performed at free-stream Mach number 6. For small forcing amplitudes, the second-mode growth rates predicted by DNS agree well with the growth rates resulted from the linear stability theory (LST) including nonparallel effects. This shows that numerical method allows for simulation of unstable processes despite its dissipative features. Calculations at large forcing amplitudes illustrate nonlinear dynamics of the disturbance flow field. DNS predicts a nonlinear saturation of fundamental harmonic and rapid growth of higher harmonics. These results are consistent with the experimental data of Stetson and Kimmel obtained on a sharp cone at the free-stream Mach number 8.

The results of a wind-tunnel experiment on the joint action of periodic acoustic fast-mode disturbances of the outer flow and disturbances generated at the leading edge of a plate on the hypersonic (M = 21) viscous shock layer on the plate are presented. The possibility of positively controlling the intensity of density fluctuations in the plate shock layer by means of disturbances introduced from the leading edge is shown. Direct numerical simulation of the suppression (enhancement) of disturbances under the simultaneous action on the shock layer of the two-dimensional fast-mode acoustic waves in the outer flow and the source of two-dimensional suction/injection disturbances near the leading edge of the plate is performed under the experimental conditions. The experimental and calculated results are shown to be in good agreement.  相似文献

To investigate the effect of different disturbances in the upstream, we present numerical simulation of transition for a hypersonic boundary layer on a 5-degree half-angle blunt cone in a freestream with Mach number 6 at 1-degree angle of attack. Evolution of small disturbances is simulated to compare with the linear stability theory (LST), indicating that LST can provide a good prediction on the growth rate of the disturbance. The effect of different disturbances on transition is investigated. Transition onset distributions along the azimuthal direction are obtained with two groups of disturbances of different frequencies. It shows that transition onset is relevant to frequencies and amplitudes of the disturbances at the inlet, and is decided by the amplitudes of most unstable waves at the inlet. According to the characteristics of environmental disturbances in most wind tunnels, we explain why transition occurs leeside-forward and windside-aft over a circular cone at an angle of attack. Moreover, the indentation phenomenon in the transition curve on the leeward is also revealed.  相似文献

In the region of transition from a two-dimensional laminar boundary layer to a turbulent one, three-dimensional flow occurs [1–3]. It has been proposed that this flow is formed as the result of nonlinear interaction of two-dimensional and three-dimensional disturbances predicted by linear hydrodynamic stability theory. Using many simplifications, [4, 5] performed a calculation of this interaction for a free boundary layer and a boundary layer on a wall with a very coarse approximation of the velocity profile. The results showed some argreement with experiment. On the other hand, it is known that disturbances of the Tollmin—Schlichting wave type can be observed at sufficiently high amplitude. This present study will use the method of successive linearization to calculate the primary two- and three-dimensional disturbances, and also the average secondary flow occurring because of nonlinear interaction of the primary disturbances. The method of calculation used is close to that of [4, 5], the disturbance parameters being calculated on the basis of a Blazius velocity profile. A detailed comparison of results with experimental data [1] is made. It developed that at large disturbance amplitude the amplitude growth rate differs from that of linear theory, while the spatial distribution of disturbances agree s well with the distribution given by the natural functions and their nonlinear interaction. In calculating the secondary flow an experimental correction was made to the amplitude growth rate.  相似文献

An algorithm for calculation of a spatial compressible turbulent boundary layer on the surface of a pointed body is developed. The algorithm is based on the numerical solution of three-dimensional equations and algebraic models of turbulence. The flow around a hypersonic aircraft model is calculated, and the resultant Stanton numbers are compared with experimental data. The influence of the Mach number, the angle of attack, and the Reynolds number on the boundary-layer parameters is studied. It is shown that the change in the location of the transition zone has a weak effect on the skin-friction coefficient in the region of developed turbulent flow. Receptivity of a viscous shock layer on a flat plate aligned at an angle of attack to external multiwave acoustic perturbations is studied. It is shown that external acoustic waves and periodic controlled perturbations introduced from the surface of the plate mounted at an angle of attack smaller than 20° generate entropy-vortex disturbances with a similar spatial distribution in the viscous shock layer. This result allows numerical implementation of the interference method of controlling disturbances generated in the viscous shock layer on the plate by external acoustic waves at one frequency and at a spectrum of frequencies by introducing blowing-suction perturbations on the plate surface with appropriate amplitudes and phases.  相似文献
