The transmissions of oxygen ions through Al2O3 nanocapillaries each 50 nm in diameter and 10 μm in length at a series of different tilt angles are measured,where the ions with energies ranging from 10 to 60 keV and charge states from 1 up to 6 are involved.The angular distribution and the transmission yields of transported ions are investigated.Our results indicate both the existence of a guiding effect when ions pass through the capillary and a significant dependence of the ion transmission on the energy and the charge state of the ions.The guiding effects are observed to be enhanced at lower projectile energies and higher charge states.Meanwhile,the results also exhibit that the transmission yields increase as the tilt angle decreases at a given energy and charge state.  相似文献

The production of ions via laser ablation for the loading of radiofrequency (RF) ion traps is investigated using a nitrogen laser with a maximum pulse energy of 0.17?mJ and a peak intensity of about 250?MW/cm2. A?time-of-flight mass spectrometer is used to measure the ion yield and the distribution of the charge states. Singly charged ions of elements that are presently considered for the use in optical clocks or quantum logic applications could be produced from metallic samples at a rate of the order of magnitude 105 ions per pulse. A linear Paul trap was loaded with Th+ ions produced by laser ablation. An overall ion production and trapping efficiency of 10?7 to 10?6 was attained. For ions injected individually, a dependence of the capture probability on the phase of the RF field has been predicted. In the experiment this was not observed, presumably because of collective effects within the ablation plume.  相似文献

本文研究了单电子分子离子与强激光场相互作用下的高次谐波发射谱。从光谱中观察到除了存在入射激光频率奇数倍的谐波谱线外,还存在其他频率的超拉曼谱线。在理论上阐明了超拉曼谱线不同于高次谐波谱线的物理产生机制。研究发现当体系初态为基态和较高激发态的叠加态时能够较清晰的观察到超拉曼谱线,从而说明激发态电子的布居对超拉曼谱线的产生起着关键作用。因此在实验上,制备一个叠加态使得电子从激发态电离,是观察到超拉曼谱线的重要条件。  相似文献

Our molecular dynamics analysis of Xe_{147-5083} clusters identifies two mechanisms that contribute to the yet unexplained observation of extremely highly charged ions in intense laser cluster experiments. First, electron impact ionization is enhanced by the local cluster electric field, increasing the highest charge states by up to 40%; a corresponding theoretical method is developed. Second, electron-ion recombination after the laser pulse is frustrated by acceleration electric fields typically used in ion detectors. This increases the highest charge states by up to 90%, as compared to the usual assumption of total recombination of all cluster-bound electrons. Both effects together augment the highest charge states by up to 120%, in reasonable agreement with experiments.  相似文献

The plasma composition and ion charge-state distributions of pulsed vacuum arcs have been investigated for carbon, aluminum, silver, platinum, and tantalum cathodes using a time-of-flight (TOF) charge-to-mass spectrometer. With the exception of carbon, it was found that all results depend on the arc pulse repetition rate, a fact which, up to now, has not been reported in the literature. It is shown that adsorption of gas on the cathode between are pulses leads to contamination of the metal plasma and to a reduction of metal ion charge states. These usually undesired effects can be avoided by operating at high arc pulse repetition rates of order 10 Hz or more. The results can be interpreted in terms of cathode spot type 1 (on contaminated cathode surfaces) and type 2 (on clean surfaces) which are well known from their different brightness and erosion behaviour. 用150fs的掺钛蓝宝石激光系统, 在功率密度约为5×1015 W/cm2时 激励氩(Ar)团簇,利用具有空间分辨能力的平场光栅谱仪观察到13—23nm波段Ar的软x射线谱,并观察到Ar的11阶离子谱线.在较宽的激光脉宽和较低的激光功率密度情况下,通过激励Ar团簇,获得 了Ar的高阶电离度的实验结果,且谱线的信噪比明显好于光场感应电离的情况,说明团簇的 形成大幅度地提高了激光能量的吸收效率. 关键词: Ar团簇 超短强激光 软x射线辐射  相似文献

A gold target has been irradiated with a Q-switched Nd:Yag laser having 1064\,\hbox{nm} wavelength, 9\,\hbox{ns} pulse width, 900\,\hbox{mJ} maximum pulse energy and a maximum power density of the order of 10^{10}\,\hbox{W}/\hbox{cm}^2 . The laser-target interaction produces a strong gold etching with a production of a plasma in front of the target. The plasma contains neutrals and ions having high charge state. Time-of-flight measurements are presented for the analysis of the ion production and ion velocity. A cylindrical electrostatic deflection ion analyzer permits to measure the yield of the emitted ions, their charge state and their ion energy distribution. Measurements indicate that the ion charge state reaches 6^+ and 10^+ at a laser fluence of 100\,\rm{J/cm}^2 and 160\,\rm{J/cm}^2 , respectively. The maximum ion energy reaches about 2\,\hbox{keV} and 8\,\hbox{keV} at these low and at high laser fluence, respectively. Experimental ion energy distributions are given as a function of the ion charge state. Obtained results indicate that electrical fields, produced in the plume, along the normal to the plane of the target surface, exist in the unstable plasma. The electrical fields induce ion acceleration away from the target with a final velocity dependent on the ion charge state. The ion velocity distributions follow a "shifted Maxwellian distribution", which the authors have corrected for the Coulomb interactions occurring inside the plasma.  相似文献

We propose a scheme to generate a superposition of motional coherent states with arbitrary coefficients on a line in phase space and implement a quantum controlled phase-gate for multiple trapped ions with a single standing-wave laser pulse whose carrier frequency is tuned to the ions transition. In the scheme each ion does not need to be exactly positioned at the node of the standing wave, which is very important from viewpoint of experiment, Furthermore, our scheme may allow the generation of a superposition of coherent states with large mean phonon number for a large number of trapped ions in a fast way by choosing suitable laser intensity. A cylindrical electrostatic ion analyzer permits measuring of the yield of emitted ions, the charge state of detected ions and the ion energy distribution. Measurements indicate that, at a laser fluence of the order of 100?J/cm2, the charge state may reach 9+ and the ion energy reaches about 5?keV. The ion energy distribution is given as a function of the charge state. Experimental results indicate that an electrical field is developed along the normal to the plane of the target surface, which accelerates the ions up to high velocity. We observe multiply frustrated tunneling ionization-induced dissociation of the argon dimers by intense linearly polarized ultrashort laser pulses. By measuring the kinetic energy release and angular distribution of the Coulomb explosion of up to eightfold ionized argon dimers, we can trace the recapture of up to two electrons to Rydberg states of the highly charged compound at the end of the laser pulse. Upon dissociation of the dimer, the Rydberg electron prefers to localize at the atomic ion with the higher charge state. We probe the electron recapture dynamics by a time-delayed weak pulse.  相似文献

The electron beam ion source (Kobe EBIS) has been developed to perform modification of surfaces using highly charged ions (HCIs) at the Kobe University, Japan. Recent study revealed that periodic intermission of electron beam improves charge state distribution of extracted ions. The period of intermission is in the order of 100 ms, and the width of beam-off time is 1 ms or less. This operational mode (pulse mode) makes it possible to produce Ar15+ to Ar17+ effectively, whereas the charge is limited less than 14+ under the ordinary operational mode with direct current (DC) electron beam. A spike of HCIs with a peak current in the order of nA is also observed at each moment of electron beam off. The measurement of the time evolution of Ar16+ intensity around the timing of mode change revealed that the intensity of extracted Ar16+ changes slowly after mode change with a time constant of few seconds.  相似文献

A new type of pulse sources of multicharged ions,namely,a quasi-gasdynamic ECR source is propose.Its main difference from the classical ECR ion sources is a different,quasi-gasdynamic regime of plasma confinement in a magnetic trap.A zero-dimensional model was constructed that describes gas breakdown, formation of charge state distribution in a plasma,and plasma flux through the plugs of the trap.A wide spectrum of model experimental studies was covered.Plasma was produced and heated by a pulse(1ms) gyrotron at the frequency of 37.5GHz and power of 100kW in a cusp magnetic trap with magnetic field in plugs up to 2.5T.Such a trap has axisymmetric configuration and allows one to realize a quasi-gasdynamic regime of confinement with reliable stabilization of MHD perturbations.It was demonstrated that with such a confinement regime it is possible to generate multicharged ions and create intense(more than 1A/cm~2)ion fluxes through the trap plugs.Comparison of results of calculations and data of experiments shows that they are in a good agreement,which allows us to predict with a high degree of certainty creation of an ECR source of a new generation. The data obtained were used to design a pulse quasi-gasdynamic ECR ion source with pumping at the frequency of 100GHz,effective trap size lm,average ion charge in plasma comparable with that in the best classical MCI ECR sources but with an order of magnitude higher flux density and absolute magnitude of plasma flux through trap plugs.Creation of intense plasma fluxes allows one to extract high-current MCI beams of high brightness.Transverse homogeneity of a plasma flux makes it possible to use multi-aperture extraction system for formation on broad intense MCI beams.  相似文献

The goal of this work is to derive the angular distributions of electrons irradiated at the outer ionization of large atomic clusters from Xe atoms by relativistic laser pulses taking into account rescattering processes. Both the magnetic field of the laser pulse and the Coulomb field of the ionized cluster significantly influence the rescattering of ejected electrons. The multiply inner ionization of atoms occurs at the leading edge of the laser pulse. The atomic ions with charge multiplicities up to Z = 26 are subsequently produced (each atomic ion with the next charge multiplicity appears in 3–5 fs) when the laser intensity increases. The measurements of the angular distributions of electrons allow us to reproduce the imaging dynamics of outer ionization of the cluster at the leading edge of the relativistic femtosecond laser pulse.  相似文献

A kinetic theory of passage of multiply charged heavy ions through crystals is developed that allows for diffusion in the transverse momentum space and ion-crystal charge exchange. The theory provides an adequate explanation for the observed angular distributions of heavy ions passing through oriented crystals, makes it possible to calculate the partial angular distributions of different charge states, and treats the discovered effects of “cooling” and “heating” of channeled ion beams in physical terms. The angular and spatial distribution of channeled ions with different energies is calculated. Whether a channeled beam of multiply charged heavy ions will be cooled or heated is related to the dependence of the electron capture and loss probabilities on the impact parameter when the ions interact with atomic chains. This interaction governs the run of the angular and spatial distribution of the channeled ion charge.  相似文献

We present a general expression for the maximum ion energy observed in experiments with thin foils irradiated by high-intensity laser pulses. The analytical model is based on a radially confined surface charge set up by laser accelerated electrons on the target rear side. The only input parameters are the properties of the laser pulse and the target thickness. The predicted maximum ion energy and the optimal laser pulse duration are supported by dedicated experiments for a broad range of different ions.  相似文献
