We construct the general solution for nonextremal charged rotating black holes in five-dimensional minimal gauged supergravity. They are characterized by four nontrivial parameters: namely, the mass, the charge, and the two independent rotation parameters. The metrics in general describe regular rotating black holes, providing the parameters lie in appropriate ranges so that naked singularities and closed timelike curves (CTCs) are avoided. We calculate the conserved energy, angular momenta, and charge for the solutions, and show how supersymmetric solutions arise in a Bogomol'nyi-Prasad-Sommerfield limit. These have naked CTCs in general, but for special choices of the parameters we obtain new regular supersymmetric black holes or smooth topological solitons.  相似文献

Generalizing the scaling limit of Martelli and Sparks [D. Martelli, J. Sparks, Phys. Lett. B 621 (2005) 208, hep-th/0505027] into an arbitrary number of spacetime dimensions we re-obtain the (most general explicitly known) Einstein–Sasaki spaces constructed by Chen et al. [W. Chen, H. Lü, C.N. Pope, Class. Quantum Grav. 23 (2006) 5323, hep-th/0604125]. We demonstrate that this limit has a well-defined geometrical meaning which links together the principal conformal Killing–Yano tensor of the original Kerr-NUT-(A)dS spacetime, the Kähler 2-form of the resulting Einstein–Kähler base, and the Sasakian 1-form of the final Einstein–Sasaki space. The obtained Einstein–Sasaki space possesses the tower of Killing–Yano tensors of increasing rank—underlined by the existence of Killing spinors. A similar tower of hidden symmetries is observed in the original (odd-dimensional) Kerr-NUT-(A)dS spacetime. This rises an interesting question whether also these symmetries can be related to the existence of some ‘generalized’ Killing spinor.  相似文献

In this work we study the Dirac quasinormal modes of higher dimensional charged black holes. Higher dimensional Reissner–Nordström type black holes as well as charged black holes in Einstein–Gauss–Bonnet theories are studied for fermionic perturbations using WKB method. A comparative study of the quasinormal modes in the two different theories of gravity has been performed. The behavior of the frequencies with the variation of black hole parameters as well as with the variation of space-time dimensions is studied. We also study the large multipole number limit of the black hole potential in order to look for an analytic expression for the frequencies.  相似文献

We investigate an exact solution that describes the embedding of the four-dimensional (4D) perfect fluid in a five-dimensional (5D) Einstein spacetime. The effective metric of the 4D perfect fluid as a hypersurface with induced matter is equivalent to the Robertson–Walker metric of cosmology. This general solution shows interconnections among many 5D solutions, such as the solution in the braneworld scenario and the topological black hole with cosmological constant. If the 5D cosmological constant is positive, the metric periodically depends on the extra dimension. Thus we can compactify the extra dimension on S1S1 and study the phenomenological issues. We also generalize the metric ansatz to the higher-dimensional case, in which the 4D part of the Einstein equations can be reduced to a linear equation.  相似文献

A modified Hauser-Ernst-type linear system is established and used to develop an inverse scattering method for solving the motion equations of the string effective action describing the coupled gravity, dilaton and KalbRamond fields. The reduction procedures in this inverse scattering method are found to be fairly simple, which makes the proposed inverse scattering method applied fine and effective. As an application, a concrete family of soliton solutions for the considered theory is obtained.  相似文献

A physical interpretation of theC-metric with a negative cosmological constantΛ is suggested. Using a convenient coordinate system it is demonstrated that this class of exact solutions of Einstein’s equations describes uniformly accelerating (possibly charged) black holes in anti-de Sitter universe. Main differences from the analogous de Sitter case are emphasised. Dedicated to my academic teacher Prof. J. Bičák on the occasion of his 60th birthday. Within a large class of exact solutions of the Einstein equations describing a black hole embedded in a Friedmann universe it is shown that, under certain assumptions, only those with comoving Hawking–Hayward quasi-local mass are generic, in the sense that they are late-time attractors.  相似文献

Recently it is shown that the Bekenstein–Hawking entropy for black holes receives logarithmic corrections due to thermodynamic fluctuations. Schwarzschild black hole which possesses a negative specific heat is thermodynamically unstable, so the entropy corrections cannot be obtained directly. In this Letter, Schwarzschild black hole will be put in the center of a spherical cavity of finite radius to achieve equilibrium with surroundings, so that a thermodynamically stable solution is obtained based on a uniformly spaced area spectrum approach. Our conclusion show that there are two correction terms for Schwarzschild black holes. The sign of the second correction term depends on the size of the cavity.  相似文献

We study the global structure of Lorentzian manifolds with partial sectional curvature bounds. In particular, we prove completeness theorems for homogeneous and isotropic cosmologies as well as static spherically symmetric spacetimes. The completeness of the latter is then employed to rigorously prove the absence of static spherically symmetric black holes in more than three dimensions. The proof of these new results is preceded by a pedagogic review of the local aspects of sectional curvature bounds for Lorentzian manifolds, which extends and strengthens previous constructions.  相似文献

We construct the solution for non-extremal charged rotating black holes in seven-dimensional gauged supergravity, in the case with only one rotation parameter and two independent charges. Using the Boyer-Lindquist coordinates, the metric is expressed in a generalized form of the ansatz previously presented in [S.Q. Wu, Phys. Rev. D 83 (2011) 121502(R)], which may be helpful to find the most general non-extremal two-charged rotating black hole with three unequal rotation parameters. The conserved charges for thermodynamics are also computed.  相似文献

We construct new charged solutions of the Einstein–Maxwell field equations with cosmological constant. These solutions describe the nut-charged generalisation of the higher-dimensional Reissner–Nordström spacetimes. For a negative cosmological constant these solutions are the charged generalizations of the topological nut-charged black hole solutions in higher dimensions. Finally, we discuss the global structure of such solutions and possible applications.  相似文献

A class of exact solutions of the gravitational field equations in the vacuum on the brane are obtained by assuming the existence of a conformal Killing vector field, with non-static and non-central symmetry. In this case, the general solution of the field equations can be obtained in a parametric form in terms of the Bessel functions. The behavior of the basic physical parameters describing the non-local effects generated by the gravitational field of the bulk (dark radiation and dark pressure) is also considered in detail, and the equation of state satisfied at infinity by these quantities is derived. As a physical application of the obtained solutions we consider the behavior of the angular velocity of a test particle moving in a stable circular orbit. The tangential velocity of the particle is a monotonically increasing function of the radial distance and, in the limit of large values of the radial coordinate, tends to a constant value, which is independent on the parameters describing the model. Therefore, a brane geometry admitting a one-parameter group of conformal motions may provide an explanation for the dynamics of the neutral hydrogen clouds at large distances from the galactic center, which is usually explained by postulating the existence of the dark matter.  相似文献

Electrically charged solutions breaking half of the supersymmetry in Anti-de Sitter four dimensional N=2 supergravity coupled to vector supermultiplets are constructed. These static black holes live in an asymptotic AdS4 space time. The Killing spinor, i.e., the spinor for supersymmetry variation is explicitly constructed for these solutions.  相似文献

A sequence of exact spacetimes is obtained describing the fields of a Schwarzschild black hole surrounded by stable static axisymmetric thin discs having their inner rim at the least possible radius. In the previous paper we only required stability with respect to perturbations in the disc plane, while it turns out that for discs with relative mass >0.23 the perturbations in perpendicular direction are more dangerous. The discs of the resulting sequence have their inner rims just on, or very close to, circular geodesics marginally stable with respect to either of the perturbations. Redshift from static and Keplerian observers in the disc is computed. The inverted first Morgan-Morgan counter-rotating disc, used in superpositions, has a number of satisfactory physical properties, but it has turned out to have a curvature singularity at the inner rim. However, this is only a consequence of a too steep radial start of density, not present in (inverted) “higher” Morgan-Morgan solutions. The gravitational collapse of a star is an important issue both for general relativity and astrophysics, which is related to the well-known “frozen star” paradox. This paradox has been discussed intensively and seems to have been solved in the comoving-like coordinates. However, to a real astrophysical observer within a finite time, this problem should be discussed in the point of view of the distant rest-observer, which is the main purpose of this Letter. Following the seminal work of Oppenheimer and Snyder (1939), we present the exact solution for one or two dust shells collapsing towards a pre-existing black hole. We find that the metric of the inner region of the shell is time-dependent and the clock inside the shell becomes slower as the shell collapses towards the pre-existing black hole. This means the inner region of the shell is influenced by the property of the shell, which is contrary to the result in Newtonian theory. It does not contradict the Birkhoff's theorem, since in our case we cannot arbitrarily select the clock inside the shell in order to ensure the continuity of the metric. This result in principle may be tested experimentally if a beam of light travels across the shell, which will take a longer time than without the shell. It can be considered as the generalized Shapiro effect, because this effect is due to the mass outside, but not inside as the case of the standard Shapiro effect. We also found that in real astrophysical settings matter can indeed cross a black hole's horizon according to the clock of an external observer and will not accumulate around the event horizon of a black hole, i.e., no “frozen star” is formed for an external observer as matter falls towards a black hole. Therefore, we predict that only gravitational wave radiation can be produced in the final stage of the merging process of two coalescing black holes. Our results also indicate that for the clock of an external observer, matter, after crossing the event horizon, will never arrive at the “singularity” (i.e. the exact center of the black hole), i.e., for all black holes with finite lifetimes their masses are distributed within their event horizons, rather than concentrated at their centers. We also present a worked-out example of the Hawking's area theorem.  相似文献

We introduce a magnetically charged extremal regular black hole in the coupled system of Einstein gravity and nonlinear electrodynamics. Its near horizon geometry is given by AdS2×S2AdS2×S2. It turns out that the entropy function approach does not automatically lead to a correct entropy of the Bekenstein–Hawking entropy. This contrasts to the case of the extremal Reissner–Norström black hole in the Einstein–Maxwell theory. We conclude that the entropy function approach does not work for a magnetically charged extremal regular black hole without singularity, because of the nonlinearity of the entropy function.  相似文献

We study the hidden symmetries arising in the dimensional reduction of d=5, supergravity to three dimensions. Extending previous partial results for the bosonic part, we give a derivation that includes fermionic terms, shedding light on the appearance of the local hidden symmetry SO(4) in the reduction.  相似文献

We investigate the massive graviton contributions to 4D gravity in a 6D brane world scenario, whose bulk field content can include that of 6D chiral gauged supergravity. We consider a general class of solutions having 3-branes, 4D Poincaré symmetry and axisymmetry in the internal space. We show that these contributions, which we compute analytically, can be independent of the brane vacuum energy as a consequence of geometrical and topological properties of the above-mentioned codimension two brane world. These results support the idea that in such models the gravitational interactions may be decoupled from the brane vacuum energy.  相似文献

We study a 7-dimensional brane world scenario with a Ricci-flat 3-brane residing in the core of a composite monopole defect, i.e., a defect composed of a 't Hooft–Polyakov and a global monopole. Admitting a direct interaction between the two bosonic sectors of the theory, we analyse the structure of the space–time in the limits of small, respectively large direct interaction coupling constant. For large direct interaction, the global monopole disappears from the system and leaves behind a negative cosmological constant in the bulk such that gravity-localising solutions are possible without a priori introduction of a bulk cosmological constant.  相似文献
