We study numerically the mean access times for random walks on hybrid disordered structures formed by embedding scale-free networks into regular lattices, considering different transition rates for steps across lattice bonds (F) and across network shortcuts (f). For fast shortcuts (f/F≫1) and low shortcut densities, traversal time data collapse onto a universal curve, while a crossover behavior that can be related to the percolation threshold of the scale-free network component is identified at higher shortcut densities, in analogy to similar observations reported recently in Newman-Watts small-world networks. Furthermore, we observe that random walk traversal times are larger for networks with a higher degree of inhomogeneity in their shortcut distribution, and we discuss access time distributions as functions of the initial and final node degrees. These findings are relevant, in particular, when considering the optimization of existing information networks by the addition of a small number of fast shortcut connections.  相似文献

As people travel, human contact networks may change topologically from time to time. In this paper, we study the problem of epidemic spreading on this kind of dynamic network, specifically the one in which the rewiring dynamics of edges are carried out to preserve the degree of each node (called fitness rewiring). We also consider the adaptive rewiring of edges, which encourages disconnections from and discourages connections to infected nodes and eventually leads to the isolation of the infected from the susceptible with only a small number of links between them. We find that while the threshold of epidemic spreading remains unchanged and prevalence increases in the fitness rewiring dynamics, meeting of the epidemic threshold is delayed and prevalence is reduced (if adaptive dynamics are included). To understand these different behaviors, we introduce a new measure called the “mean change of effective links” and find that creation and deletion of pathways for pathogen transmission are the dominant factors in fitness and adaptive rewiring dynamics, respectively.  相似文献

We consider coevolution of site state and network structures from different initial substrates: a one dimensional Ising chain, a scale free network and network with non-linear degree dependence. The dynamics is governed by a preassigned stability parameter S, and a rewiring factor φ, that determines whether the Ising spin at the chosen site flips or whether the site gets rewired to another site in the system. We have observed the steady state average stability and magnetisation for both kinds of systems to have an idea about the effect of initial network topology. Although the average stability shows almost similar behaviour, the magnetisation depends on the initial condition we start from. Apart from the local dynamics, the global effect on the dynamics has also been studied. These studies show interesting variations in the steady state values of average stability and magnetisation for different values of S and φ, which helps in indicating the gradual change of existing social networks.  相似文献

Stochastic epidemics and rumours on finite random networks   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
In this paper, we investigate the stochastic spread of epidemics and rumours on networks. We focus on the general stochastic (SIR) epidemic model and a recently proposed rumour model on networks in Nekovee et al. (2007) [3], and on networks with different random structures, taking into account the structure of the underlying network at the level of the degree–degree correlation function. Using embedded Markov chain techniques and ignoring density correlations between neighbouring nodes, we derive a set of equations for the final size of the epidemic/rumour on a homogeneous network that can be solved numerically, and compare the resulting distribution with the solution of the corresponding mean-field deterministic model. The final size distribution is found to switch from unimodal to bimodal form (indicating the possibility of substantial spread of the epidemic/rumour) at a threshold value that is higher than that for the deterministic model. However, the difference between the two thresholds decreases with the network size, n, following a n−1/3 behaviour. We then compare results (obtained by Monte Carlo simulation) for the full stochastic model on a homogeneous network, including density correlations at neighbouring nodes, with those for the approximating stochastic model and show that the latter reproduces the exact simulation results with great accuracy. Finally, further Monte Carlo simulations of the full stochastic model are used to explore the effects on the final size distribution of network size and structure (using homogeneous networks, simple random graphs and the Barabasi–Albert scale-free networks).  相似文献

We study a probabilistic model of interacting spins indexed by elements of a finite subset of the d-dimensional integer lattice, d≥1. Conditions of time reversibility are examined. It is shown that the model equilibrium distribution converges to a limit distribution as the indexing set expands to the whole lattice. The occupied site percolation problem is solved for the limit distribution. Two models with similar dynamics are also discussed.  相似文献

We study, on a square lattice, an extension to fully coordinated percolation which we call iterated fully coordinated percolation. In fully coordinated percolation, sites become occupied if all four of its nearest neighbors are also occupied. Repeating this site selection process again yields the iterated fully coordinated percolation model. Our results show a large enhancement in the size of highly connected regions after each iteration (from ordinary to fully coordinated and then to iterated fully coordinated percolation); enhancements that are much larger than an extension of correlations by an extra lattice constant might suggest. We also study the universality among the three problems by determining the corresponding static and dynamic critical exponents. Specifically, a new method to directly calculate the walk dimension, d w , using finite size scaling applied to normal mode analysis is used. This method is applicable to any geometry and requires significantly less computation than previously known calculations to determine d w .  相似文献

A new site percolation model, directed spiral percolation (DSP), under both directional and rotational (spiral) constraints is studied numerically on the square lattice. The critical percolation threshold p c ≈ 0.655 is found between the directed and spiral percolation thresholds. Infinite percolation clusters are fractals of dimension d f ≈ 1.733. The clusters generated are anisotropic. Due to the rotational constraint, the cluster growth is deviated from that expected due to the directional constraint. Connectivity lengths, one along the elongation of the cluster and the other perpendicular to it, diverge as pp c with different critical exponents. The clusters are less anisotropic than the directed percolation clusters. Different moments of the cluster size distribution P s(p) show power law behaviour with | p - p c| in the critical regime with appropriate critical exponents. The values of the critical exponents are estimated and found to be very different from those obtained in other percolation models. The proposed DSP model thus belongs to a new universality class. A scaling theory has been developed for the cluster related quantities. The critical exponents satisfy the scaling relations including the hyperscaling which is violated in directed percolation. A reasonable data collapse is observed in favour of the assumed scaling function form of P s(p). The results obtained are in good agreement with other model calculations. This Letter is focused on the impact of network topology on the site percolation. Specifically, we study how the site percolation threshold depends on the network dimensions (topological d and fractal D), degree of connectivity (quantified by the mean coordination number Z), and arrangement of bonds (characterized by the connectivity index Q also called the ramification exponent). Using the Fisher's containment principle, we established exact inequalities between percolation thresholds on fractal networks contained in the square lattice. The values of site percolation thresholds on some fractal lattices were found by numerical simulations. Our findings suggest that the most relevant parameters to describe properly the values of site percolation thresholds on fractal networks contained in square lattice (Sierpiński carpets and Cantor tartans) and based on the square lattice (weighted planar stochastic fractal and Cantor lattices) are the mean coordination number and ramification exponent, but not the fractal dimension. Accordingly, we propose an empirical formula providing a good approximation for the site percolation thresholds on these networks. We also put forward an empirical formula for the site percolation thresholds on d-dimensional simple hypercubic lattices.  相似文献

We investigate the collection behaviour of coupled phase oscillators on Newman-Watts small-world networks in one and two dimensions. Each component of the network is assumed as an oscillator and each interacts with the others following the Kuramoto model We then study the onset of global synchronization of phases and frequencies based on dynamic simulations and finite-size scaling. Both the phase and frequency synchronization are observed to emerge in the presence of a tiny fraction of shortcuts and enhanced with the increases of nearest neighbours and lattice dimensions.  相似文献

Over the last few years, the interplay between contagion dynamics of social influences (e.g., human awareness, risk perception, and information dissemination) and biological infections has been extensively investigated within the framework of multiplex networks. The vast majority of existing multiplex network spreading models typically resort to heterogeneous mean-field approximation and microscopic Markov chain approaches. Such approaches usually manifest richer dynamical properties on multiplex networks than those on simplex networks; however, they fall short of a subtle analysis of the variations in connections between nodes of the network and fail to account for the adaptive behavioral changes among individuals in response to epidemic outbreaks. To transcend these limitations, in this paper we develop a highly integrated effective degree approach to modeling epidemic and awareness spreading processes on multiplex networks coupled with awareness-dependent adaptive rewiring. This approach keeps track of the number of nearest neighbors in each state of an individual; consequently, it allows for the integration of changes in local contacts into the multiplex network model. We derive a formula for the threshold condition of contagion outbreak. Also, we provide a lower bound for the threshold parameter to indicate the effect of adaptive rewiring. The threshold analysis is confirmed by extensive simulations. Our results show that awareness-dependent link rewiring plays an important role in enhancing the transmission threshold as well as lowering the epidemic prevalence. Moreover, it is revealed that intensified awareness diffusion in conjunction with enhanced link rewiring makes a greater contribution to disease prevention and control. In addition, the critical phenomenon is observed in the dependence of the epidemic threshold on the awareness diffusion rate, supporting the metacritical point previously reported in literature. This work may shed light on understanding of the interplay between epidemic dynamics and social contagion on adaptive networks.  相似文献

We introduce a new class of two-dimensional cellular automata with a bootstrap percolation-like dynamics. Each site can be either empty or occupied by a single particle and the dynamics follows a deterministic updating rule at discrete times which allows only emptying sites. We prove that the threshold density ρ c for convergence to a completely empty configuration is non trivial, 0<ρ c <1, contrary to standard bootstrap percolation. Furthermore we prove that in the subcritical regime, ρ<ρ c , emptying always occurs exponentially fast and that ρ c coincides with the critical density for two-dimensional oriented site percolation on ℤ2. This is known to occur also for some cellular automata with oriented rules for which the transition is continuous in the value of the asymptotic density and the crossover length determining finite size effects diverges as a power law when the critical density is approached from below. Instead for our model we prove that the transition is discontinuous and at the same time the crossover length diverges faster than any power law. The proofs of the discontinuity and the lower bound on the crossover length use a conjecture on the critical behaviour for oriented percolation. The latter is supported by several numerical simulations and by analytical (though non rigorous) works through renormalization techniques. Finally, we will discuss why, due to the peculiar mixed critical/first order character of this transition, the model is particularly relevant to study glassy and jamming transitions. Indeed, we will show that it leads to a dynamical glass transition for a Kinetically Constrained Spin Model. Most of the results that we present are the rigorous proofs of physical arguments developed in a joint work with D.S. Fisher.  相似文献

We study geographical effects on the spread of diseases in lattice-embedded scale-free networks. The geographical structure is represented by the connecting probability of two nodes that is related to the Euclidean distance between them in the lattice. By studying the standard susceptible-infected model, we found that the geographical structure has great influences on the temporal behavior of epidemic outbreaks and the propagation in the underlying network: the more geographically constrained the network is, the more smoothly the epidemic spreads, which is different from the clearly hierarchical dynamics that the infection pervades the networks in a progressive cascade across smaller-degree classes in Barabási–Albert scale-free networks.  相似文献

Within a recently introduced model based on the bond-fluctuation dynamics, we study the viscoelastic behaviour of a polymer solution at the gelation threshold. We here present the results of the numerical simulation of the model on a cubic lattice: the percolation transition, the diffusion properties and the time autocorrelation functions have been studied. From both the diffusion coefficients and the relaxation times critical behaviour a critical exponent k for the viscosity coefficient has been extracted: the two results are comparable within the errors giving , in close agreement with the Rouse model prediction and with some experimental results. In the critical region below the transition threshold the time autocorrelation functions show a long-time tail which is well fitted by a stretched exponential decay. Extensive Monte Carlo simulations were performed in order to determine the precise values of the critical thresholds for site (p hcp c, S =0.199 255 5±0.000 001 0) and bond (p hcp c, B =0.120 164 0±0.000 001 0) percolation on the hcp lattice to compare with previous precise measurements on the fcc lattice. Also, exact enumeration of the hcp and fcc lattices was performed and yielded generating functions and series for the zeroth, first, and second moments of both lattices. When these series and the values of p c are compared to those for the fcc lattice, it is apparent that the site percolation thresholds are different; however, the bond percolation thresholds are equal within error bars, and the series only differ slightly in the higher order terms, suggesting the actual values are very close to each other, if not identical.  相似文献

We investigate the critical behaviour of an epidemical model in a diffusive population mediated by a static vector environment on a 2D network. It is found that this model presents a dynamical phase transition from disease-free state to endemic state with a finite population density. Finite-size and short-time dynamic scaling relations are used to determine the critical population density and the critical exponents characterizing the behaviour near the critical point. The results are compatible with the universality class of directed percolation coupled to a conserved diffusive field with equal diffusion constants.  相似文献

The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has been widely spread around the world, and the control and behavior dynamics are still one of the important research directions in the world.Based on the characteristics of COVID-19’s spread,a coupled disease-awareness model on multiplex networks is proposed in this paper to study and simulate the interaction between the spreading behavior of COVID-19 and related information. In the layer of epidemic spreading, the nodes can be divided into five categories, where the topology of the network represents the physical contact relationship of the population. The topological structure of the upper network shows the information interaction among the nodes, which can be divided into aware and unaware states.Awareness will make people play a positive role in preventing the epidemic diffusion, influencing the spread of the disease.Based on the above model,we have established the state transition equation, through the microscopic Markov chain approach(MMCA),and proposed the propagation threshold calculation method under the epidemic model.Furthermore,MMCA iteration and the Monte Carlo method are simulated on the static network and dynamic network, respectively. The current results will be beneficial to the study of COVID-19,and propose a more rational and effective model for future research on epidemics.  相似文献

Mean-field solution of the small-world network model   总被引:14,自引:0,他引:14
The small-world network model is a simple model of the structure of social networks, which possesses characteristics of both regular lattices and random graphs. The model consists of a one-dimensional lattice with a low density of shortcuts added between randomly selected pairs of points. These shortcuts greatly reduce the typical path length between any two points on the lattice. We present a mean-field solution for the average path length and for the distribution of path lengths in the model. This solution is exact in the limit of large system size and either a large or small number of shortcuts.  相似文献
