We show that an iteration of the procedure used to define the Gorenstein projective modules over a ring R yields exactly the Gorenstein projective modules. Specifically, given an exact sequence of Gorenstein projective left R-modules G = … → G 1 → G 0 → G 0 → G 1 → … such that the complex Hom R (G, H) is exact for each projective left R-module H, the module Im(G 0 → G 0) is Gorenstein projective. We also get similar results for Gorenstein flat left R-modules when R is a right coherent ring. As applications, we obtain the corresponding results for Gorenstein complexes.  相似文献

A complex (C, δ) is called strongly Gorenstein flat if C is exact and Ker δ n is Gorenstein flat in R-Mod for all n ∈ ?. Let 𝒮𝒢 stand for the class of strongly Gorenstein flat complexes. We show that a complex C of left R-modules over a right coherent ring R is in the right orthogonal class of 𝒮𝒢 if and only if C n is Gorenstein cotorsion in R-Mod for all n ∈ ? and Hom.(G, C) is exact for any strongly Gorenstein flat complex G. Furthermore, a bounded below complex C over a right coherent ring R is in the right orthogonal class of 𝒮𝒢 if and only if C n is Gorenstein cotorsion in R-Mod for all n ∈ ?. Finally, strongly Gorenstein flat covers and 𝒮𝒢-envelopes of complexes are considered. For a right coherent ring R, we show that every bounded below complex has a 𝒮𝒢-envelope.  相似文献

We give sufficient conditions on a class of R‐modules $\mathcal {C}We give sufficient conditions on a class of R‐modules $\mathcal {C}$ in order for the class of complexes of $\mathcal {C}$‐modules, $dw \mathcal {C}$, to be covering in the category of complexes of R‐modules. More precisely, we prove that if $\mathcal {C}$ is precovering in R ? Mod and if $\mathcal {C}$ is closed under direct limits, direct products, and extensions, then the class $dw \mathcal {C}$ is covering in Ch(R). Our first application concerns the class of Gorenstein flat modules. We show that when the ring R is two sided noetherian, a complex C is Gorenstein flat if and only if each module Cn is Gorenstein flat. If moreover every direct product of Gorenstein flat modules is a Gorenstein flat module, then the class of Gorenstein flat complexes is covering. We consider Gorenstein projective complexes as well. We prove that if R is a commutative noetherian ring of finite Krull dimension, then the class of Gorenstein projective complexes coincides with that of complexes of Gorenstein projective modules. We also show that if R is commutative noetherian with a dualizing complex then every right bounded complex has a Gorenstein projective precover.  相似文献

A right R-module M is called glat if any homomorphism from any finitely presented right R-module to M factors through a finitely presented Gorenstein projective right R-module. The concept of glat modules may be viewed as another Gorenstein analogue of flat modules. We first prove that the class of glat right R-modules is closed under direct sums, direct limits, pure quotients and pure submodules for arbitrary ring R. Then we obtain that a right R-module M is glat if and only if M is a direct limit of finitely presented Gorenstein projective right R-modules. In addition, we explore the relationships between glat modules and Gorenstein flat (Gorenstein projective) modules. Finally we investigate the existence of preenvelopes and precovers by glat and finitely presented Gorenstein projective modules.  相似文献

A ring R is called left “GF-closed”, if the class of all Gorenstein flat left R-modules is closed under extensions. The class of left GF-closed rings includes strictly the one of right coherent rings and the one of rings of finite weak dimension.

In this article, we investigate the Gorenstein flat dimension over left GF-closed rings. Namely, we generalize the fact that the class of all Gorenstein flat left modules is projectively resolving over right coherent rings to left GF-closed rings. Also, we generalize the characterization of Gorenstein flat left modules (then of Gorenstein flat dimension of left modules) over right coherent rings to left GF-closed rings. Finally, using direct products of rings, we show how to construct a left GF-closed ring that is neither right coherent nor of finite weak dimension.

Gorenstein flatness and injectivity over Gorenstein rings   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Let R be a Gorenstein ring.We prove that if I is an ideal of R such that R/I is a semi-simple ring, then the Gorenstein flat dimension of R/I as a right R-module and the Gorenstein injective dimension of R/I as a left R-module are identical. In addition,we prove that if R→S is a homomorphism of rings and SE is an injective cogenerator for the category of left S-modules,then the Gorenstein flat dimension of S as a right R-module and the Gorenstein injective dimension of E as a left R-module are identical. We also give some applications of these results.  相似文献

Global dimension and left derived functors of Hom   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
It is well known that the right global dimension of a ring R is usually computed by the right derived functors of Hom and the left projective resolutions of right R-modules. In this paper, for a left coherent and right perfect ring R, we characterize the right global dimension of R, from another point of view, using the left derived functors of Hom and the right projective resolutions of right R-modules. It is shown that rD(R)≤n (n≥2) if and only if the gl right Proj-dim MR≤n - 2 if and only if Extn-1(N, M) = 0 for all right R-modules N and M if and only if every (n - 2)th Proj-cosyzygy of a right R-module has a projective envelope with the unique mapping property. It is also proved that rD(R)≤n (n≥1) if and only if every (n-1)th Proj-cosyzygy of a right R-module has an epic projective envelope if and only if every nth Vroj-cosyzygy of a right R-module is projective. As corollaries, the right hereditary rings and the rings R with rD(R)≤2 are characterized.  相似文献

Let R be a commutative Noetherian ring and A an Artinian R-module. We prove that if A has finite Gorenstein injective dimension, then A possesses a Gorenstein injective envelope which is special and Artinian. This, in particular, yields that over a Gorenstein ring any Artinian module possesses a Gorenstein injective envelope which is special and Artinian.  相似文献

In this note we prove two theorems. In theorem 1 we prove that if M andN are two non-zero reflexive modules of finite projective dimensions over a Gorenstein local ring, such that Hom (M, N) is a third module of syzygies, then the natural homomorphismM* ⊗N → Hom (M, N) is an isomorphism. This extends the result in [7]. In theorem 2, we prove that projective dimension of a moduleM over a regular local ringR is less than or equal ton if and only if ExtR n (M, R) ⊗M → ExtR n (M, M) is surjective; in which case it is actually bijective. This extends the usual criterion for the projectivity of a module.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove that the Gorenstein analogue of the well-known Auslander's theorem on the global dimension holds true. Namely, we prove that the Gorenstein global dimension of a commutative ring R is equal to the supremum of the set of Gorenstein projective dimensions of all cyclic R-modules.  相似文献

In this article, we study the relation between m-strongly Gorenstein projective (resp., injective) modules and n-strongly Gorenstein projective (resp., injective) modules whenever m ≠ n, and the homological behavior of n-strongly Gorenstein projective (resp., injective) modules. We introduce the notion of n-strongly Gorenstein flat modules. Then we study the homological behavior of n-strongly Gorenstein flat modules, and the relation between these modules and n-strongly Gorenstein projective (resp., injective) modules.  相似文献

Let (R,m) be a local GCD domain. R is called a U2 ring if there is an element u ∈ m-m2 such that R/(u) is a valuation domain and Ru is a B′ezout domain. In this case u is called a normal element of R. In this paper we prove that if R is a U2 ring, then R and R[x] are coherent; moreover, if R has a normal element u and dim(R/(u)) = 1, then every finitely generated projective module over R[X] is free.  相似文献

Every module over an Iwanaga–Gorenstein ring has a Gorenstein flat cover [13] (however, only a few nontrivial examples are known). Integral group rings over polycyclic-by-finite groups are Iwanaga–Gorenstein [10] and so their modules have such covers. In particular, modules over integral group rings of finite groups have these covers. In this article we initiate a study of these covers over these group rings. To do so we study the so-called Gorenstein cotorsion modules, i.e. the modules that split under Gorenstein flat modules. When the ring is ℤ, these are just the usual cotorsion modules. Harrison [16] gave a complete characterization of torsion free cotorsion ℤ-modules. We show that with appropriate modifications Harrison's results carry over to integral group rings ℤG when G is finite. So we classify the Gorenstein cotorsion modules which are also Gorenstein flat over these ℤG. Using these results we classify modules that can be the kernels of Gorenstein flat covers of integral group rings of finite groups. In so doing we necessarily give examples of such covers. We use the tools we develop to associate an integer invariant n with every finite group G and prime p. We show 1≤n≤|G : P| where P is a Sylow p-subgroup of G and gives some indication of the significance of this invariant. We also use the results of the paper to describe the co-Galois groups associated to the Gorenstein flat cover of a ℤG-module. Presented by A. In this article, we investigate the change of rings theorems for the Gorenstein dimensions over arbitrary rings. Namely, by the use of the notion of strongly Gorenstein modules, we extend the well-known first, second, and third change of rings theorems for the classical projective and injective dimensions to the Gorenstein projective and injective dimensions, respectively. Each of the results established in this article for the Gorenstein projective dimension is a generalization of a G-dimension of a finitely generated module M over a noetherian ring R.  相似文献

The main purpose of this article is to present some applications of the notion of Gorenstein injective dimension of complexes over an associative ring. Among the applications, we give some new characterizations of Iwanaga–Gorenstein rings. In particular, we show that an associative ring R is Iwanaga–Gorenstein if and only if the class of complexes of Gorenstein injective dimension less than or equal to zero and the class of complexes of finite projective dimension are orthogonal complement of each other with respect to the ‘Ext’ functor.  相似文献

This paper investigates the structure of cyclically pure (or C-pure) projective modules. In particular, it is shown that a ring R is left Noetherian if and only if every C-pure projective left R-module is pure projective. Also, over a left hereditary Noetherian ring R, a left R-module M is C-pure projective if and only if M = NP, where N is a direct sum of cyclic modules and P is a projective left R-module. The relationship C-purity with purity and RD-purity are also studied. It is shown that if R is a local duo-ring, then the C-pure projective left R-modules and the pure projective left R-modules coincide if and only if R is a principal ideal ring. If R is a left perfect duo-ring, then the C-pure projective left R-modules and the pure projective left R-modules coincide if and only if R is left Köthe (i.e., every left R-module is a direct sum of cyclic modules). Also, it is shown that for a ring R, if every C-pure projective left R-module is RD-projective, then R is left Noetherian, every p-injective left R-module is injective and every p-flat right R-module is flat. Finally, it is shown that if R is a left p.p-ring and every C-pure projective left R-module is RD-projective, then R is left Noetherian hereditary. The converse is also true when R is commutative, but it does not hold in the noncommutative case.  相似文献

In this article, Gorenstein FP-injective modules are introduced and investigated. A left R-module M is called Gorenstein FP-injective if there is an exact sequence … → E 1 → E 0 → E 0 → E 1 → … of FP-injective left R-modules with M = ker(E 0 → E 1) such that Hom R (P, ?) leaves the sequence exact whenever P is a finitely presented left R-module with pd R (P) < ∞. Some properties of Gorenstein FP-injective modules are obtained. Several well-known classes of rings are characterized in terms of Gorenstein FP-injective modules.  相似文献
