A method for solving Hilbert's boundary value problem with discontinuous coefficients is studied for a function single-valued and analytic in an annulus in the case in which the solution may have power-law singularities at finitely many points on the boundary of the annulus. To illustrate the results obtained, we consider an explosion problem for two pinching charges in a homogenous medium with a circular cylinder lying in the flow caused by the explosion. We obtain asymptotic lower bounds for the spectral function of the Laplacian and for the remainder in local Weyl’s law on manifolds. In the negatively curved case, thermodynamic formalism is applied to improve the estimates. Key ingredients of the proof include the wave equation parametrix, a pretrace formula and the Dirichlet box principle. Our results develop and extend the unpublished thesis of A. Karnaukh [Ka]. The famous Lagrange identity expresses the second derivative of the moment of inertia of a system of material points through the kinetic energy and homogeneous potential energy. The paper presents various extensions of this brilliant result to the case 1) of constrained mechanical systems, 2) when the potential energy is quasi-homogeneous in coordinates and 3) of continuum of interacting particles governed by the well-known Vlasov kinetic equation.   相似文献

The Dedekind–Hölder theorem states that Ramanujan’s sum and the Von Sterneck function are identical. In this article, we extend the Dedekind–Hölder theorem by generalizing both Ramanujan’s sum and the Von Sterneck function and showing that the two generalizations are identical.  相似文献

We prove Kantorovich’s theorem on Newton’s method using a convergence analysis which makes clear, with respect to Newton’s method, the relationship of the majorant function and the non-linear operator under consideration. This approach enables us to drop out the assumption of existence of a second root for the majorant function, still guaranteeing Q-quadratic convergence rate and to obtain a new estimate of this rate based on a directional derivative of the derivative of the majorant function. Moreover, the majorant function does not have to be defined beyond its first root for obtaining convergence rate results. The research of O.P. We generalize a result of F. Luca and A. Sankaranarayanan by proving that the set of n for which ϕ(1) + ⃛ + ϕ(n) is squareful is of zero density. Birch and Tverberg partitions are closely related concepts from discrete geometry. We show two properties for the number of Birch partitions: Evenness and a lower bound. This implies the first nontrivial lower bound for the number of Tverberg partitions that holds for arbitrary q, where q is the number of partition blocks. The proofs are based on direct arguments and do not use the equivariant method from topological combinatorics.  相似文献

By means of a technique used by Carlitz and Subbarao to prove the quintuple product identity (Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 32(1):42–44, 1972), we recover a general identity (Chu and Yan, Electron. J. Comb. 14:#N7, 2007) for expanding the product of two Jacobi triple products. For applications, we briefly explore identities for certain products of theta functions φ(q), ψ(q) and modular relations for the Göllnitz-Gordon functions.  相似文献

In this paper, we evaluate the alternating analogues of Tornheim’s double series. This is an answer to the problem posed by Subbarao-Sitaramachandrarao, and can be regarded as an alternating analogue of the evaluation formula for Tornheim’s double series, given by Huard, Williams and Z. Nan-Yue. Let T be a Banach space operator, E(T) be the set of all isolated eigenvalues of T and π(T) be the set of all poles of T. In this work, we show that Browder's theorem for T is equivalent to the localized single-valued extension property at all complex numbers λ in the complement of the Weyl spectrum of T, and we give some characterization of Weyl's theorem for operator satisfying E(T) = π(T). We give an explicit formula for the subalgebra zeta function of a general three-dimensional Lie algebra over the p-adic integers . To this end, we associate to such a Lie algebra a ternary quadratic form over . The formula for the zeta function is given in terms of Igusa’s local zeta function associated to this form. For Thebault’s theorem which is the most difficult theorem that has ever been proved by Wu’s method, a very simple proof using Wu’s method under a linear order is discovered.
