Let G be a finite group having a π-subgroup H such that |G: H| is not divisible by the numbers in π. In this case, the subgroup H is referred to as a π-Hall subgroup, and the group G by itself is referred to as a E π -group. If, moreover, the group H is supersolvable, then G is referred to as an E π u -group. It is proved in the paper that the class of all E π u -groups is a solvably saturated formation, and the proof is carried out without using the classification of finite groups.  相似文献

We prove that if GG is a finite simple group which is the unit group of a ring, then GG is isomorphic to: (a) a cyclic group of order 2; or (b) a cyclic group of prime order 2k−12k1 for some kk; or (c) a projective special linear group PSLn(F2)PSLn(F2) for some n≥3n3. Moreover, these groups do all occur as unit groups. We deduce this classification from a more general result, which holds for groups GG with no non-trivial normal 2-subgroup.  相似文献

It is proved that the class of finite -supersolvable groups is precisely the class of all finite -solvable groups with the following property: For each maximal subgroup M of a -solvable group G with index p for some p , there exists a cyclic subgroup S of order p ( ) such that G = MS and S commutes with each element of the Sylow system M of the subgroup M.Translated from Matematicheskie Zametki, vol. 52, No. 1, pp. 57–61, July, 1992.  相似文献

A connection between π-lengths of a π-soluble group and its maximal subgroup is established. The results are applied to the corresponding projectors and injectors in soluble groups.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group and π be a set of primes. Put ${d_{\pi}(G) = k_{\pi}(G)/|G|_{\pi}}$ , where ${k_{\pi}(G)}$ is the number of conjugacy classes of π-elements in G and |G| π is the π-part of the order of G. In this paper we initiate the study of this invariant by showing that if ${d_{\pi}(G) > 5/8}$ then G possesses an abelian Hall π-subgroup, all Hall π-subgroups of G are conjugate, and every π-subgroup of G lies in some Hall π-subgroup of G. Furthermore, we have ${d_{\pi}(G) = 1}$ or ${d_{\pi}(G) = 2/3}$ . This extends and generalizes a result of W. H. Gustafson.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group and S be a finite simple group. In this paper, we prove that if G and S have the same sets of all orders of solvable subgroups, then G is isomorphic to S, or G and S are isomorphic to Bn(q), Cn(q), where n≥3 and q is odd. This gives a positive answer to the problem put forward by Abe and Iiyori.  相似文献

We call a subgroup H of a finite group G c-supplemented in G if there exists a subgroup K of G such that G = HK and H ∩ K ≤ core(H). In this paper it is proved that a finite group G is p-nilpotent if G is S4-free and every minimal subgroup of P n GN is c-supplemented in NG(P), and when p = 2 P is quaternion-free, where p is the smallest prime number dividing the order of G, P a Sylow p-subgroup of G. As some applications of this result, some known results are generalized.  相似文献

In the case of finite groups, a separating algebra is a subalgebra of the ring of invariants which separates the orbits. Although separating algebras are often better behaved than the ring of invariants, we show that many of the criteria which imply the ring of invariants is non-Cohen–Macaulay actually imply that no graded separating algebra is Cohen–Macaulay. For example, we show that, over a field of positive characteristic p, given sufficiently many copies of a faithful modular representation, no graded separating algebra is Cohen–Macaulay. Furthermore, we show that, for a p-group, the existence of a Cohen–Macaulay graded separating algebra implies the group is generated by bireections. Additionally, we give an example which shows that Cohen–Macaulay separating algebras can occur when the ring of invariants is not Cohen–Macaulay.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group, E a normal subgroup of G and p a fixed prime. We say that E is p-hypercyclically embedded in G if every p-G-chief factor of E is cyclic. A subgroup H of G is said to satisfy Π-property in G if |GK:NGK((HL)KK)| is a π((HL)KK)-number for any chief factor LK in G; we say that H has Π*-property in G if HOπ(H)(G) has Π-property in G. In this paper, we prove that E is p-hypercyclically embedded in G if and only if some classes of p-subgroups of E have Π*-property in G. Some recent results are extended.  相似文献

New characterizations of finite supersoluble groups   总被引:13,自引:0,他引:13
Let A be a subgroup of a group G and X a nonempty subset of G.A is called an X- semipermutable subgroup of G if A has a supplement T in G such that for every subgroup T_1 of T there exists an clement x∈X such that AT_i~x=T_i~xA.On the basis of this concept we obtain some new characterizations of finite supersoluble groups.  相似文献
