Exact and approximate quantum numbers of the cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky (CNS) formalism are exploited to calculate excited bands in fixed configurations with the energy of the individual bands minimized with respect to deformation for all spin values. The formalism is applied to 59Cu, where all bands which appear important in the decay out of the superdeformed band are calculated.Received: 14 November 2002, Published online: 17 February 2004PACS: 21.10.Ma Level density - 21.60.Cs Shell model - 23.20.Lv transitions and level energies - 27.50. + e C. Detailed fine-structure -decay studies of 188,190Bi were performed using the complete-fusion reactions of 50,52Cr ions with a 142Nd target at the velocity filter SHIP. The evaporation residues were separated in-flight and subsequently identified on the basis of recoil- , recoil- - /X-ray and excitation function measurements. Improved data on the -decay of 188,190Bi were obtained and a number of new low-lying excited states in the daughters 184,186Tl were observed. An intruder, presumably 10- state was identified in 184Tl, extending the systematics of such states in the odd-odd Tl nuclei beyond the neutron mid-shell at N = 104. Some technical aspects of experiment at recoil separators are also discussed.Received: 14 March 2003, Revised: 1 May 2003, Published online: 2 September 2003PACS: 23.60.+e decay - 27.70.+q - 27.80.+w C.D. Challenged by recent theoretical work, a study of the -EC decay of the N = Z even-even nucleus 76 Sr has been undertaken in order to assign the parent ground-state deformation. In this study 13 levels with have been located in 76 Rb. The beta-delayed proton emission has been observed for the first time in an N = Z even-even nucleus. The p branching ratio has been determined to be . The 76 Sr half-life has been remeasured and a more precise value of s has been obtained. On the basis of the comparison of measured Gamow-Teller strength with calculated strength distributions for both oblate and prolate deformation, it is concluded that the 76 Sr has strong prolate deformation in the ground state.Received: 26 June 2003, Revised: 5 November 2003, Published online: 18 June 2004PACS: 21.10.Hw Spin, parity, and isobaric spin - 23.20.Lv transitions and level energies - 23.40.Hc Relation with nuclear matrix elements and nuclear structure - 27.50. + e J. Prompt and delayed gamma-ray spectroscopy of very neutron-deficient bismuth isotopes 187, 189Bi has been performed using the recoil decay tagging method. A rotational band has been observed in 189Bi and is interpreted as a complete decoupling of a single proton from the deformed lead core. The results for 187Bi suggest a similar structure and coupling scheme. This study gives the first evidence for a prolate band in a light bismuth nucleus and confirms the prolate character of the low-lying rotational band observed in the core nuclei 188Pb and 186Pb.Received: 21 July 2004, Published online: 21 September 2004PACS: 23.20.Lv transitions and level energies - 27.70. + q K. Superdeformed bands in 88Mo and 89Tc were populated using 40Ca-induced fusion-evaporation reactions on 58Ni at a beam energy of 185MeV. Gamma-rays emitted in the reactions were detected using the Gammasphere spectrometer, in coincidence with charged particles detected by the Microball array. A new superdeformed band was assigned to the nucleus 88Mo, leading to a revisit of earlier configuration assignments for superdeformed structures in this nucleus. In particular, the theoretical interpretation of a pair of identical (isospectral) superdeformed bands in 88Mo/89Tc is discussed. The configurations that are assigned to the four SD bands belonging to 88Mo have properties that are predicted to be significantly affected by pair correlations.Received: 1 October 2003, Revised: 30 January 2004, Published online: 21 September 2004PACS: 21.10.Re Collective levels - 21.60.Cs Shell model - 23.20.Lv transitions and level energies - 27.50. + e K. The nuclear system at the limit of excitation energy and angular momentum is here studied in the case of the superdeformed nucleus 143Eu using -spectroscopy techniques. The data are based on a EUROBALL experiment using the reaction 37Cl + 110Pd Eu + 4n. The influence of thermal energy on superdeformed configurations is investigated through the analysis of the quasi-continuum spectra formed by E2 transitions among states of excited rotational bands with energy extending up to 4-5 MeV above the yrast line. In particular, the effective lifetimes of the discrete rotational bands forming ridge structures in - coincidence matrices is measured by a Doppler Shift Attenuation Method. The deduced quadrupole deformation of 10 eb indicates that the nucleus maintains its collectivity with increasing excitation energy, supporting the superdeformed character of the excited nuclear rotation. The obtained number of superdeformed discrete bands forming the ridge structures is found in good agreement with microscopic cranked shell model calculations including the decay-out process into the lower deformation minimum. In addition, the nuclear properties at higher excitation energies are investigated through the E1 -decay of the giant dipole resonance (GDR). It is found that the intensity of the superdeformed yrast and excited bands increases by a factor of approximately 1.6 when a coincidence with a high-energy -ray is required, showing the importance of the E1 cooling in the feeding mechanism of the superdeformed states.Received: 2 December 2002, Published online: 2 March 2004PACS: 21.10.Tg Lifetimes - 21.10.Re Collective levels - 23.20.Lv transitions and level energies - 27.60. + j   相似文献

A short summary of the present status of prompt particle decays in the mass region is presented. It includes recent results from a GAMMASPHERE experiment, which aimed at the combined high-resolution spectroscopy of light charged particles and -rays to allow for more detailed studies of known decays and the identification of new cases of discrete prompt proton and -particle emission from highly and superdeformed states.Received: 10 October 2002, Published online: 17 February 2004PACS: 23.50. + z Decay by proton emission - 23.60. + e decay - 27.40. + z - 27.50. + e   相似文献

Intruder rotational bands in 45Sc and 45Ti have been investigated up to the maximum aligned angular momentum by means of EUROBALL IV and the Recoil Filter Detector (RFD). The use of the RFD allowed for a reduction of the -line Doppler broadening and, moreover, for a determination of very short level lifetimes. In the studied nuclei, the estimated deformation shows a gradual disappearance of the collectivity at the highest available spins.Received: 19 November 2002, Revised: 14 March 2003, Published online: 2 March 2004PACS: 21.10.Tg Lifetimes - 21.60.Cs Shell model - 27.40. + z P. Alpha-decay of the new nuclide 184Bi has been studied in the complete-fusion reaction 93Nb(94Mo, 3n)184Bi at the velocity filter SHIP. The evaporation residues were separated in-flight and subsequently identified on the basis of recoil- , recoil- - analysis and excitation functions measurements. Two -decaying isomeric states in 184Bi with half-life values of 13(2) ms and 6.6(1.5) ms were identified. The -branching ratio of 180Tl was deduced for the first time as . Improved data on the fine-structure -decay of 186Bi were obtained in the 93Nb(95Mo, 2n)186Bi reaction. A similarity of the decay energies and half-life values of 184,186Bi is pointed out and a possible explanation for this effect is suggested.Received: 14 March 2003, Revised: 29 April 2003, Published online: 2 September 2003PACS: 23.60.+e decay - 27.70.+q - 27.80.+w K. A new high-spin isomer in 215Bi, with a half-life of 36.9(6) s, has been identified at the PSB-ISOLDE on-line mass separator using the pulsed-release technique combined with the element selective RILIS source. A decay scheme of Bi was constructed and complemented with the low-spinstructure observed in Bi decay. Angular distributions for the exclusive reaction observed via the decay channel have been measured at GeV, 2.50 GeV and 2.85 GeV (excess energies Q = 324 MeV, 412 MeV and 554 MeV). The polar angle of the shows an anisotropy with respect to the beam direction for the lowest energy, which vanishes for the higher energies. The anisotropy of the pp polar angle increases slightly with the beam energy.Received: 30 September 2002, Published online: 22 October 2003PACS: 13.75.Cs Nucleon-nucleon interactions (including antinucleons, deuterons, etc.) - 14.40.Aq , K, and mesons - 25.40.Ve Other reactions above meson production thresholds (energies > 400 MeV)Y. Preliminary differential cross-sections of the reactions and with A = 1 H, 12 C, and nat Pb are presented. A significant nuclear-mass dependence of the invariant-mass distribution is found in the channel. The dependence is not observed in the channel. The in-medium observation in the channel is consistent with an in-medium modification of the interaction in the I = J = 0 channel, changing width and pole position of a resonant state.Received: 30 September 2002, Published online: 22 October 2003PACS: 13.60.Le Meson production - 21.65. + f Nuclear matterJ.G. High-spin states in the odd-proton nucleus 173Lu have been populated in a 170Er(7Li,4n) reaction and the emitted -radiation was detected with the GASP array. The favoured and unfavoured sequences of the band have been considerably extended. The favoured sequence does not show any indication of a band crossing up to a rotational frequency of 0.45 MeV. This is the largest crossing frequency ever observed for 1/2- [541] bands of odd-proton nuclei with and . Previous Cranked Shell Model (CSM) calculations underestimate the crossing frequency by 100 keV.Received: 19 May 2003, Published online: 11 November 2003PACS: 21.10.-k Properties of nuclei; nuclear energy levels - 21.10.Re Collective levels - 23.20.Lv transitions and level energies - 27.70. + q   相似文献

Production and decay of the isotope 271Ds were studied. The isotope was produced by 208Pb + 64Ni 271Ds + n reaction. Fourteen -decay chains have been assigned to decays originating from the isotope 271Ds. An excitation function of the production of this isotope was measured. The results have provided a good confirmation of production and decay of 271Ds reported by Hofmann et al. The presence of an isomeric state in 271Ds has been confirmed. The existence of a possible isomeric state in 267Hs is presented.Received: 22 September 2003, Revised: 26 December 2002, Published online: 10 August 2004PACS: 23.60. + e decay - 25.70.-z Low and intermediate energy heavy-ion reactions - 27.90. + b D. Spectroscopic studies performed with deep-inelastic heavy-ion reactions are reviewed for two regions of neutron-rich nuclei. The identification of isomers in nearly complete series of Sn isotopes and the resulting systematic of B(E2) values for isomeric transitions is presented and followed by the discussion of shell model states studied in neutron-rich Te isotopes including the new four neutron-hole isomers identified in 130Te. Yrast spectroscopy studies of nuclei from the doubly magic 208Pb region are described by outlining the highest spin states observed in the 208Pb core nucleus. The E3 transitions observed abundantly in yrast decays are discussed within the framework of particle-octupole vibration coupling and the validity of a simple rule connecting energy shifts of octupole states built on one-particle states with the ones observed for two-particle states is demonstrated.Received: 15 January 2003, Published online: 23 March 2004PACS: 21.60.Cs Shell model - 23.20.Lv transitions and level energies - 27.60. + j - 27.80. + w   相似文献

High-spin states in 163,164Ho were investigated by means of in-beam -ray spectroscopy techniques using the multidetector array GASP. Excited states in 163,164Ho were populated predominantly through the incomplete-fusion mechanism in the 160Gd (11B reaction at a beam energy of 61 MeV. Known rotational bands in 163 Ho have been extended to higher spins and a three-quasiparticle band has been observed in this nucleus. Rotational bands have been identified in 164Ho and their configurations have been discussed. Empirical Gallagher-Moszkowski (GM) splitting energies were extracted from the and GM doublets. A seven-quasiparticle isomer with and T 1/2 = 53 ( + 3 -7) ns has been identified in 179Ta. By comparing its excitation energy with results from multi-quasiparticle calculations that include the effects of blocking and residual nucleon-nucleon interactions, the isomer is assigned the (5/2 + [402], 7/2 + [404], (5/2-[512], 7/2-[514], 7/2-[503], 9/2 + [624]) configuration. The decay of this isomer is found to be unusually fast, a feature that is attributed to a mixing with a specific collective level. The interaction strength is found to be orders of magnitude lower than that observed between interacting collective levels.Received: 7 March 2004, Revised: 3 May 2004, Published online: 5 October 2004PACS: 21.10.Re Collective levels - 21.10.Tg Lifetimes - 23.20.Lv Gamma transitions and level energies - 27.70. + q S.J. We have studied the structure of light neutron-rich nuclei around N = 16 by employing the in-beam -ray spectroscopy technique using the fragmentation of secondary beams of 25,26Ne, 27,28Na and 29,30Mg isotopes. This secondary-beam cocktail was obtained by the fragmentation of a 36S beam at 77.5 MeV by the SISSI/GANIL facility. By a second-step fragmentation, we have measured -ray-residue coincidences in 17-20C and 23,24O and described the obtained levels in the framework of the shell model.Received: 31 October 2002, Published online: 24 February 2004PACS: 23.20.Lv transitions and level energies - 21.60.Cs Shell model - 27.20. + n - 27.30. + t   相似文献
