Summary Silica beads of 6-μm average diameter were silanized with methylvinyldiethoxysilane and then subjected to encapsulation with poly(methylvinylsiloxane). The resulting product is a new stationary phase for reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) which has superior ability for the separation of polar, non-polar and basic compounds. The chromatographic peaks are symmetric. Its stability has been studied; after continuous use for three months the carbon content and chromatographic behaviour of the phase were unchanged. on to the silica surface to given an uniform organic film. Material prepared in this way has both good chromatographic behaviour and superior selectivity. Because contact of the silica matrix with the mobile phase is avoided, the alkali-resisting ability of the stationary phase is increased. The non-specific adsorption of alkaline solutes on to the silica surface is also avoided because of the complete coverage of surface silanol groups. Reports of stationary phases encapsulated with polystyrene [6], polybutadiene [I] and octadecylsiloxane polymers have recently appeared in the literature [3]. In this paper we report the encapsulation of poly-(methylvinylsiloxane) (analogous to the phase SE-31 often used in GC) on to a silica matrix previously modified with methylvinyldiethoxysilane. The resulting phase has superior performance in reversed-phase HPLC.  相似文献

The solvation parameter model system constants and retention factors were used to interpret retention properties of 39 calibration compounds on a biphenylsiloxane-bonded stationary phase (Kinetex biphenyl) for acetone-water binary mobile phase systems containing 30–70% v/v. Variation in system constants, phase ratios, and retention factors of acetone-water binary mobile phases systems were compared with more commonly used acetonitrile and methanol mobile phase systems. Retention properties of acetone mobile phases on a Kinetex biphenyl column were more similar to that of acetonitrile than methanol mobile phases except with respect to selectivity equivalency. Importantly, selectivity differences arising between acetone and acetonitrile systems (the lower hydrogen-bond basicity of acetone-water mobile phases and differences in hydrogen-bond acidity, cavity formation and dispersion interactions) could be exploited in reversed-phase liquid chromatography method development on a Kinetex biphenyl stationary phase.  相似文献

正A new ionic liquid-based high-performance liquid chromatography stationary phase is reported.A derivative of N-methyl pyrrolidinium tetrafluoroborate was covalently immobilized on the surface of silica particles to prepare silica-based N-methyl pyrrolidinium tetrafluoroborate(SilprMP BF4)stationary phase. The obtained ionic liquid-modified silica was evaluated and confirmed by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis.A column was packed with the modified particles. The retention behavior of aromatic compounds, alkyl benzenes, and acidic and basic compounds on the SilprMP BF4 stationary phase was studied under reversed-phase liquid chromatography conditions. The effect of the eluent pH on the separation of the acidic and basic compounds was also studied. The new stationary phase involves multiple retention mechanisms, such as electrostatic,hydrophobic,ion-dipole,and anion-exchange interactions, which might lead to multipurpose separation media.  相似文献

In striving for the best possible separation, the selectivity of stationary phases as an optimization parameter is often underestimated although there are many ways to influence this powerful tool. This review serves to provide an insight into the various ways of adapting the selectivity of a separation in liquid chromatography. Approaches via temperature and flow rate tuning are discussed as a basis followed by focusing on the stationary phase as the superior optimization parameter. Highly selective stationary phases hereby provide an advantage for groups of similar analytes. For more complex mixtures, separations can be improved using mixed-mode technologies where different retention mechanisms are combined. Serial coupling, mixed-bed columns, and stationary phase optimized selectivity liquid chromatography provide solutions to various degrees. Finally, the advantages of stationary phase tuning over adaption of mobile phase and/or temperature are presented in terms of optimum application range.  相似文献

Retention behavior of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) on an acridine derivative stationary phase was examined in microcolumn liquid chromatography. 3,6-Bis(dimethylamino)-10-dodecylacridinium was electrostatically introduced into a cation-exchanger, and its selectivity was compared with that of octadecylsilyl-bonded silica gel. The former stationary phase provided smaller retention for non-planar PAHs than that achieved by the latter stationary phase. The results suggest that interaction between PAHs and the acridinyl ring dominates the retention of PAHs, and preferential retention of planar PAHs is attributed to the fact that they have more chance to interact with the acridinyl ring of the stationary phase than non-planar PAHs.  相似文献

Summary The theory of the evaporation of the liquid stationary phase is elaborated and experimentally verified. On the basis of this theory the role played by the losses in the amount of liquid phase present is quantitatively determined. General techniques are examined which minimize the losses; these techniques are based on saturating the incoming carrier gas with liquid phase vapours and raising the pressure of the carrier gas in the column, e.g. by connecting a capillary to the column outlet in order to offer resistance to the gas flow. The application of these techniques ensures stable performance of the gas chromatographic columns using a volatile liquid phase.  相似文献

Summary The liquid-chromatographic separation of the enantiomers of pyrethroic acids and their esters has been investigated on a polysaccharide-derived chiral stationary phase (CSP), Chiralpak AS. Good separation of the enantiomers of underivatized pyrethroic acids was achieved on the column, and the enantiomers of pyrethroic acid methyl and ethyl ester derivatives were also resolved.  相似文献

Two covalently bonded cationic β-CD chiral stationary phases (CSPs) prepared by graft polymerization of 6A-(3-vinylimidazolium)-6-deoxyperphenylcarbamate-β-cyclodextrin chloride or 6A-(N,N-allylmethylammonium)-6-deoxyperphenylcarbamoyl-β-cyclodextrin chloride onto silica gel were successfully applied in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Their enantioseparation capability was examined with 12 racemic pharmaceuticals and 6 carboxylic acids. The results indicated that imidazolium-containing β-CD CSP afforded more favorable enantioseparations than that containing ammonium moiety under normal-phase HPLC. The cationic moiety on β-CD CSPs could form strong hydrogen bonding with analytes in normal-phase liquid chromatography (NPLC) to enhance the analytes’ retention and enantioseparations. In reversed-phase liquid chromatography (RPLC), the analytes exhibited their maximum retention when the pH of mobile phase was close to their pKa value. Inclusion complexation with CD cavity and columbic/ionic interactions with cationic substituent on the CD rim would afford accentuated retention and enantioseparations of the analytes.  相似文献

In this work, a detail study has been performed on the enantioselectivity of per(3-chloro-4-methyl)phenylcarbamate-β-CD clicked chiral stationary phase (CSP) in high-performance liquid chromatography. Both normal phase and polar organic mobile phases have been explored for the enantioseparation of 39 model racemic pairs including aromatic alcohols, flavonoids, β-blockers and amino acids. Chiral resolution values over 10 were achieved for flavonoids. The comparison study with reference perphenylcarbamate-β-CD clicked CSP reveals the significance of 3-chloro-4-methyl functionality in improving the enantioselectivities. This study may provide insight on the multiple interactions between functionalized CD and analytes.  相似文献

Summary The enantiomeric separation of nineteen biphenyl dimethyl dicarboxylate derivatives has been examined by HPLC on a chiral statonary phase prepared by coating aminopropylated silica gel with cellulose tris-(3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate). It was found that trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) has a dominant effect on chiral separation for acidic compounds. The percentage of 2-propanol in the mobile phase does not have a large effect on the anantioselectivity but the separation was dramatically influenced by the kind of alcohol in the mobile phase. The effect of temperature on the chiral separation is also discussed. Most of the enantiomers investigated could be resolved satisfactorily.  相似文献

We investigated the mechanisms involved in the retention of various peptides on a stationary phase embedded with a quaternary ammonium group (BS C23), by high-performance liquid chromatography. This was compared with peptide retention on a conventional reversed-phase C18 (RP C18) column under isocratic conditions, to understand better the various mechanisms involved. Chromatographic characterization of the two stationary phases with “model” compounds showed that BS C23 is less hydrophobic than RP C18 and induces electrostatic interaction (attraction or repulsion) with ionized compounds. If reversed-phase partitioning was the predominant retention phenomenon, for both stationary phases, the retention mechanisms in BS C23 provided different selectivity to that of RP C18. Electrostatic attraction or repulsion was clearly observed between peptides and the permanent positively charged group embedded in BS C23 depending on the pH. For most of the peptides, a weak anion-exchange mechanism was observed on the quaternary ammonium-embedded stationary phase if mobile phases at neutral pH and low ionic strengths were employed.  相似文献

The properties of four cholesteric bonded stationary phases differing in the nature of the spacer and the end-capping were assessed using simple chromatographic tests based on the retention of nonpolar compounds and of planar or nonplanar probe solutes. All cholesteric columns showed a hydrophobicity close to that of conventional octadecyldimethylsilyl (ODS) materials. Non-end-capped cholesteric bonded phases showed greater selectivity than ODS ones and both end-capped cholesteric bonded phases exhibit behavior intermediate between that of the non-end-capped original material and that of the ODS bonded phase.  相似文献

Summary The retention of benzene derivatives with nonpolar and polar substituents on a porous methacrylate copolymer containing epoxy groups using both nonpolar and polar eluents was investigated. When n-hexane is used as the eluent, the retention of n-alkylbenzenes and polymethylbenzenes is weaker than that of benzene. In the case of benzene derivatives containing polar functional groups their capacity ratios (k) on this porous polymer increases approximately linearly with the increase of the adsorbate molecules dipole moment. The retention characteristics of the methacrylate copolymer were compared with that of a styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer and silica gels with a hydroxylated surface and with a surface modified by chemically bonded alkylsilyl groups.  相似文献

Summary High performance liquid chromatography was used to separate Cu2+, Ni2+, and Zn2+ ions. A column packed with a -diketone bonded phase on silica gel and a mobile phase composed of trifluoroacetylacetone in acetone was used for the separation. After post-column reaction with a color-forming reagent, the metals were detected by absorption in the visible region.Currently assigned to 1155th Technical Operations Squadron, McClellan Air Force Base, California, 95652, USA  相似文献

Summary The high-performance liquid chromatographic resolution of the enantiomers of tebuconazole, a new anti-fungal agent with one chiral center, and the enantiomers of some impurities in technical tebuconazole, has been studied on a chiral stationary phase prepared by coating aminopropylated silica gel with celluloseris(3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate). The effects of solute structure and the amount of the organic mobile-phase modifier, 2-propanol, on retention and resolution were studied. Under optimum conditions excellent enantiomer separations were achieved for tebuconazole and its impurities. As far as we are aware this is the only liquid chromatographic system enabling discrimination of the enantiomers of all of the racemates discussed in this paper.  相似文献

Polysiloxanes immobilized onto the surfaces of porous silica particles have proven to be good stationary phases for the separation of multiresidues of pesticides and their metabolic/degradation products by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC). Similar materials have proven effective for pre-concentration and clean-up procedures using solid phase extraction. The present paper describes the preparation and some applications of several of these packing materials.  相似文献

Summary Flavanones ofArachis hypogaea, Hemizonia increscens, Eriodictyon glutinosum andThymus vulgaris extracts have been stereospecifically analysed by gradient elution on a column of cellulose triacetate supported on silica gel diol. The stereochemistry of naringenin, eriodictyol and homoeriodictyol was in favour of the 2S-configurated flavanones.  相似文献
