The preliminary result of the P-odd asymmetry of prompt neutron emission in 235U fission induced by polarized cold neutrons is a=(2.7±0.8)×10?5. Only scission neutrons can show such asymmetry, whereas neutrons emitted by excited fragments are the unavoidable background, which suppress the sought asymmetry. The P-odd asymmetry of light fragment emission for 235U is equal to (8.4±0.6)×10?5. Assuming that the last figure defines the parity mixture of the fissile nucleus, then the suppression factor is equal approximately to 3.  相似文献

The P-odd effect in the radiation cross section of capture of longitudinally polarized neutrons in a sample of natural lead is measured. The experiment was performed at PF1B facility at the Institut Max von Laue-Paul Langevin. The neutron polarization P n was 92%, the total flux of polarized neutrons was ~3 × 1010 n/s, and the mean neutron wavelength was λ = 4.7 Å. Taking into account “0-test” we estimated the asymmetry: a γ(natPb) = (2.3 ± 3.5) × 10?7, i.e., α γ ≤ 8.1 × 10?7 at 90% confidence level.  相似文献

A measurement of [GA/GV] in the decay of polarized neutrons, basically quite similar to our 1968 one, gives a value of 1.258±0.015. The asymmetry coefficient, A, is ?0.113±0.006. These results include the 1968 data.  相似文献

We report a measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry in the radiative capture of polarized cold neutrons in the reaction 35Cl(n, γ)36Cl where 36Cl is in the ground state. The measured value of the asymmetry is a = (1.57 ± 0.531) × 10?4. We deduce the mixing between the 2+ capture level and the neighboring 2? levelto be 〈2?¦Hp.v.¦2+〉 = ?0.25 ± 0.08 eV before corrections. A measurement of the integral asymmetry of all γ-rays in the neutron capture by 35Cl leads to agreement with measurements at Leningrad.  相似文献

The electrical properties of GaAs have been modified by transmutation of about 1 × 1018 As atoms per cm3 to Se and 0.7 × 1018 Ga atoms per cm3 to Ge in a flux of thermal neutrons, followed by annealing at temperatures from 625 to 900°C. Enhancement of carrier concentration was not observed in n+ samples, although p and n? material showed changes in carrier concentration of the expected magnitude.  相似文献

We report preliminary results of measuring the T-odd left-right asymmetry of prompt neutron emission in binary fission of the 233U and 239Pu nuclei by slow polarized neutrons. Assuming that about 35% of prompt neutrons are emitted from the “neck,” one can conclude that the emission asymmetry of scission neutrons in 233U is an order of magnitude lower than the asymmetry of α-particle emission in ternary fission.  相似文献

Three interference asymmetry effects in the angular distributions of fragments originating from 233U fission induced by resonance neutrons were measured. The energy dependences of the asymmetry factors being studied show sizable irregularities that are associated, according to modern theory, with the interference of s and p resonances at the stage of a compound nucleus. The basic features of weak p-wave resonances in the low-energy region were obtained from a global theoretical analysis of the asymmetry factors as functions of energy. The first estimates of nuclear matrix elements of weak interaction were derived for a few p-wave resonances.  相似文献

Study of the T-odd three-vector correlation in the emission of prompt neutrons from 235U fission by polarized cold neutrons has been continued at the facility MEPHISTO of the FRM II reactor (Technical University of Munich). The sought correlation was not found within experimental error of 2.3 × 10−5. The upper limit for the asymmetry coefficient has been set to |D n | < 6 × 10−5 at 99% confidence level, whereas for ternary fission correlation coefficient D α = (170±20) × 10−5. This limit casts doubt on a model that explains the three-vector correlation in ternary fission by the Coriolis mechanism. At the same time, five-vector correlation in the emission of prompt fission neutrons has been measured, which describes the rotation of the fissioning nucleus at the moment it breaks (ROT effect). At the angle 22.5° to the fission axis, the correlation coefficient was found to be (1.57 ± 0.20) × 10−4, while at the angle of 67.5° it is zero within the experimental uncertainty. The existence of ROT effect in the emission of prompt fission neutrons can be explained by the anisotropy of neutron emission in the rest frame of the fragment (fission fragments are aligned with respect to the axis of deformation of the fissioning nucleus), similar to the mechanism of ROT effect in the emission of prompt γ-rays.  相似文献

The probability of subbarrier penetration of ultracold neutrons through 15 μm-thick vacuum-tight beryllium foil (boundary energy for beryllium is E lim Be=249 eV) was measured. It is equal to (?1.2±1.0) × 10?8 per collision of neutrons with energy lower than ~160 neV.  相似文献

The14N(n,p)14C reaction cross section has been measured for thermal neutrons, making use of the neutron beam of the IBR-30 pulsed booster of the JINR, Dubna. Thermal neutrons were identified by a time-offlight method. Solid adenin targets were utilized. An ionization chamber was used for detecting the charged particles. The cross section was found to beσ np th =(1.83±0.07)b.  相似文献

The experimental data concerning scission (or prescission) neutrons are very contradictory—the relative part of these neutrons in the prompt fission neutrons varies from 1 to 35% owing to arbitrary assumptions made in different analyses. To solve this problem, we have used a new alternative method to search for the scission neutrons. We have found the left-right asymmetry of prompt-fission-neutron (PFN) emission caused by sp-wave interference in the entrance channel of the reaction and the P-odd asymmetry of the PFN emission caused by parity nonconservation at the exit channel of the fission process. Both effects cannot reside in PFN evaporated by excited fission fragments. The scission (or prescission) neutrons are responsible for these effects. The text was submitted by the authors in English.  相似文献

An oriented compound-state in114Cd was obtained by capture of polarized thermal neutrons. The asymmetry coefficientA in the angular distribution ofγ-rays (8.1–9.5 MeV) was measured to (1.2±1.2) 10?4, indicating no violation of parity in nuclear forces.  相似文献

The time scales for nuclear fission have been explored using both pre-and postfission neutrons and GDR gamma rays. Four systems were investigated: 133-MeV 16O + 176Yb and 208Pb and 104-MeV 4He + 188Os and 209Bi. Fission fragments were measured in coincidence with PPACs. The neutrons were detected using eight detectors from the DEMON array, while gamma rays were measured using the US BaF2 array. The pre-and postfission gamma rays were determined using moving source fits parallel and perpendicular to the fission fragment emission directions. The time scales for fission for the neutrons were determined using the neutron clock technique. The gamma-ray data were fitted using a statistical model calculation based on the code CASCADE. The results of the fits from both data types were used to extract nuclear friction coefficients, γ, and fission time scales. The γ values ranged from 7 to 20, while the fission times were (31–105)×10?21 s.  相似文献

The polarization of the recoil neutrons from the reaction γp→π+n was measured at a c.m. angle of 105° for incident photon energies between 675 and 1125 MeV. A scattered π+ meson and a recoil neutron were detected in coincidence with a magnetic spectrometer and a neutron polarimeter system using liquid hydrogen. Results are compared with recent phenomenological analyses and the other existing data measured by the double polarization measurement technique.  相似文献

An experiment to measure the circular polarization of γ-quanta, Pγ, in the reaction of radiative capture of polarized thermal neutrons by protons is described. Solid parahydrogen was employed as a proton target. The circular polarization was found to be Pγ = ?(2.90 ± 0.87) × 10?3 which is in agreement with the theoretical estimates of Pγ arising from the admixture of the triplet capturing state to the 1S0 principal capturing state.  相似文献

In this paper we extend our systematic investigation of pion photoproduction to the case of negative pion production on neutrons. In our approach two phenomenological parameters occur in the electric and magnetic dipole amplitudesE 0+ andM 1?. These constants have been determined by a least squares fit of the total cross section data of the ABBHHM collaboration. We obtain a very good fit, also the prediction of the asymmetry ratio for polarized photons agrees with experiment at energies below and at the resonance. Serious discrepancies between theory and experiment are found for theπ ?/π + ratio, moreover the relationship between the electric dipole at threshold, the Panofsky ratio and the difference ofs-waveπN-scattering lengths is fulfilled only within 20%. These discrepancies are discussed thoroughly.  相似文献

Neutron transmission experiments and determinations of coherent scattering lengths were performed on natural chromium and enriched samples of50Cr,52Cr,53Cr and54Cr. By means of the Christiansen-filter-technique we obtained new values for the scattering lengths of the bound atoms:b(natCr)=3.635±0.007 fm,b(50Cr)=?4.50±0.05 fm,b(52Cr)=4.914±0.015 fm,b(53Cr)=?4.20±0.03 fm, andb(54Cr)=4.55±0.10 fm. The transmission experiments with neutrons of 510 ΜeV, 1.26 eV and 5.19 eV energy resulted in data for the absorption cross sectionσ a (natCr) =3.05±0.08 b and for the scattering cross section at “zero energy”:σ 0 (natCr)=3.381±0.010 b. Data for incoherent and spin-state scattering and for the potential-scattering radius of the nuclei could be deduced from these results.  相似文献
