We consider Keller's functions, namely polynomial functionsf:C n C n with detf(x)=1 at allx C n. Keller conjectured that they are all bijective and have polynomial inverses. We extend a recent method of proof of a theorem by Kolmogorov on the conservation of quasi-periodic motion in Hamiltonian systems so as to prove existence of (uncountably many) real-analytic quasi-periodic solutions for elliptic systems u=f x (u, y), whereu y M u(y) N ,f=f(x, y) is a real-analytic periodic function and is a small parameter. Kolmogorov's theorem is obtained (in a special case) whenM=1 while the caseN=1 is (a special case of) a theorem by J. Moser on minimal foliations of codimension 1 on a torusT M +1. Then, if r,/(2L), the image F=f(B(a,)) of the ball B(a,) is convex. This result has numerous applications in optimization and control. First, duality theory holds for nonconvex mathematical programming problems with extra constraint xa. Special effective algorithms for such optimization problems can be constructed as well. Let LSC(X) be the set of the proper lower semicontinuous extended real-valued functions defined on a metric spaceX. Given a sequence f n in LSC(X) and a functionf LSC(X), we show that convergence of f n tof in several variational convergence modes implies that for each , the sublevel set at height off is the limit, in the same variational sense, of an appropriately chosen sequence of sublevel sets of thef n, at height n approaching . The converse holds true whenever a form of stability of the sublevel sets of the limit function is verified. The results are obtained by regarding a hyperspace topology as the weakest topology for which each member of an appropriate family of excess functionals is upper semicontinuous, and each member of an appropriate family of gap functionals is lower semicontinuous. In this paper we study Milnor fibrations associated to real isolated singularities defined by map-germs f: (m,0)(2,0). The main result relates the existence of the Milnor fibration with the (C)-regularity of the family of hypersurfaces with isolated singularity obtained by projecting f into the family L of all lines through the origin in the plane 2.  相似文献

In this paper we establish two results concerning algebraic (,+)-actions on n . First, let be an algebraic (,+)-action on 3. By a result of Miyanishi, its ring of invariants is isomorphic to [t 1,t 2]. Iff 1,f 2 generate this ring, the quotient map of is the mapF:32,x(f 1(x), f2(x)). By using some topological arguments we prove thatF is always surjective. Secon, we are interested in dominant polynomial mapsF: n n-1 whose connected components of their generic fibers are contractible. For such maps, we prove the existence of an algebraic (,+)-action on n for whichF is invariant. We consider the dynamics of the Ginzburg-Landau equation in a small neighborhood of a known pulse solution by studying a Poincaré map,P: T T , where T is a section which is transverse to the pulse. Due to the fact that the Ginzburg-Landau equation possesses both a rotational symmetry and a spatial symmetry, we are able to conduct a detailed analytical study of this map in neighborhoods arbitrarily close to the pulse solution. Thus, we are able to complement the work of Holmes [8], who conducted an analytical study of the Poincaré map in a punctured neighborhood of the pulse. We find that the Poincaré map contains an invariant set itT, where is not necessarily a Cantor set of points, such thatP: is homeomorphic to a shift map on (at least) two symbols. Furthermore, we find that for eachm 1 the mapP itm possesses a fixed point. Since is not necessarily a Cantor set, this is not immediately clear. Finally, we find that when the pulse solution is broken, for eachm1 there exist parameter values such that pulses possessingm maxima appear.On leave at the University of Utah during 1993/94. When H L () is contained in the reduced C*-algebra C r * () of (), then it is a dense *-subalgebra of C r * () and we prove a theorem of A. Connes which asserts that under this hypothesis H L () has the same K-theory as C r * (). Summary Consider an unconstrained minimization of an uniformly convex functionf(z). Let be an algorithm that, for solving it constructs a sequence {z i} withz i+1 =z i + (i) h i ,h i R n , (i) R = and –h i T f(z i ) > 0. For any algorithm that converges linearly and that uses parabolic or cubic interpolations for the line search, upper bounds on the number of function evaluations needed to approximate the minimum off(z) within a given accuracy, are calculated.
