AbstractSome superapproximation and ultra-approximation properties in function, gradient and two-order derivative approximations are shown for the interpolation operator of projection type on two-dimensional domain. Then, we consider the Ritz projection and Ritz-Volterra projection on finite element spaces, and by means of the superapproximation elementary estimates and Green function methods, derive the superconvergence and ultraconvergence error estimates for both projections, which are also the finite element approximation solutions of the elliptic problems and the Sobolev equations, respectively.  相似文献

We consider the approximation of systems of reaction-diffusion equations, with the finite element method. The highest derivative in each equation is multiplied by a parameter ε∈ (0, 1], and as ε → 0 the solution of the system will contain boundary layers. We extend the analysis of the corresponding scalar problem from [Melenk, IMA J. Numer. Anal. 17(1997), pp. 577-601], to construct a finite element scheme which includes elements of size O(εp) near the boundary, where p is the degree of the approximating polynomials. We show that, under the assumption of analytic input data, the method yields exponential rates of convergence, independently of ε, when the error is measured in the energy norm associated with the problem. Numerical computations supporting the theory are also presented, which also show that the method yields robust exponential convergence rates when the error in the maximum norm is used.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the finite element approximation of the distributed optimal control problems of the stationary Benard type under the pointwise control constraint. The states and the co-states are approximated by polynomial functions of lowest-order mixed finite element space or piecewise linear functions and the control is approximated by piecewise constant functions. We give the superconvergence analysis for the control; it is proved that the approximation has a second-order rate of convergence. We further give the superconvergence analysis for the states and the co-states. Then we derive error estimates in L^∞-norm and optimal error estimates in L^2-norm.  相似文献

In this paper, various boundary value problems of hyperelastic shells are considered. It is assumed that the storede-nergy function W(x, F) of the material,of which the shell is made, satisfies polyconvex conditions proposed by Ball~([2]).Existence of minimum points of the total energy of the shell in suitably chosen function spaces, and in suitably chosen finite element spaces is proved. Convergence of the finite element solutions is proved under certain regular conditions on the minimum points and some additional assumptions on W(x, F). A Gradient type computing scheme for solving the finite element solutions is given, and global convergent result is obtained.  相似文献

In this paper, we study adaptive finite element discretization schemes for an optimal control problem governed by elliptic PDE with an integral constraint for the state. We derive the equivalent a posteriori error estimator for the finite element approximation, which particularly suits adaptive multi-meshes to capture different singularities of the control and the state. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the efficiency of a posteriori error estimator and to confirm the theoretical results.  相似文献

The boundary element approximation of the parabolic variational inequalities of the second kind is discussed. First, the parabolic variational inequalities of the second kind can be reduced to an elliptic variational inequality by using semidiscretization and implicit method in time; then the existence and uniqueness for the solution of nonlinear non-differentiable mixed variational inequality is discussed. Its corresponding mixed boundary variational inequality and the existence and uniqueness of its solution are yielded. This provides the theoretical basis for using boundary element method to solve the mixed vuriational inequality.  相似文献
