The quantum numbers labelling the basis states and the corresponding strong coupled wavefunctions in the SU BF (3) ? U F (2j + 1) limit of interacting boson — fermion — fermion model are given. This dynamical symmetry limit is appropriate for heavy deformed odd — odd nuclei for configurations with one of the odd particle (proton or neutron) occupying all the natural parity orbits in the corresponding valence shell and the other particle occupying a single j — orbit. A boson — fermion — fermion interaction that can change the positions of the strong coupled bands without admixing and generate degenerate quadruplet of bands is constructed. A simple spin — spin and spin — orbital interaction that splits and changes the positions of the members of the quadruplet of bands is given. Adding a coriolis term to the hamiltonian generates doubly decoupled bands such as those seen in 176Re nucleus.  相似文献

Two possible ways of extending Symanzik's improvement programme to lattice fermions namely improvement to first and second order in the lattice sppacing a are discussed. The corresponding lattice actions for fermions are constructed and tree-level improvement conditions are derived by considering “classical” improvement. The concept of “on-shell” improvement is generalized to the lattice fermions studied here and the free parameters are determined for O(a) and O(a2) on-shell improved actions to all orders of perturbation theory. No evidence is found that the complicated structure of the O(a2) on-shell improved action, especially thearising fermion contact terms can be removed beyond tree level. The effect of terms in the action that explicitly break chiral symmetry and therefore remove the phenomenon of species doubling are investigated by considering the energy-momentum relations of the arising tree-level improved actions. Our main result is that the O(a) improved action is a slightly modified Wilson fermion action can still be written with only nearest-neighbour fermion interactions.  相似文献

We derive all the quartic fermion terms in the action, and all the cubic fermion tterms in the transformation rules of the N = 2, d = 6 supergravity plus matter-coupled Yang-Mills system constructed by the authors in an earlier paper. In (2 + 1)-dimensional QED with a Chem-Simons term, we show that spontaneous magnetization occurs in the context of finite density vacua, which are the lowest Landau levels fully or half occupied by fermions. Charge condensation is shown to appear so as to complement the fermion anti-fermion condensate, which breaks the flavor U(2N) symmetry and causes fermion mass generation. The solutions to the Schwinger-Dyson gap equation show that the fermion self-energy contributes to the induction of a finite fermion density and/or fermion mass. The magnetization can be supported by charge condensation for theories with the Chem-Simons coefficient κ = Ne22gp, and κ = Ne2/4π, under the Gauss law constraint. For κ = Ne2/4π, both the magnetic field and the fermion mass are simultaneously generated in the half-filled ground state, which breaks the U(2N) symmetry as well as the Lorentz symmetry.  相似文献

A gauge-independent β-function for QCD with massive quarks (explicit flavour thresholds) can be constructed. Our definition is based upon (on-shell) scattering of a fictitious superheavy unrelativistic fermion (mass m → ∞) at a momentum transfer μ, so that m ? μ ? mi (ordinary flavoured quarks); an explicit one-loop comparison of the Coulomb and Feynmann gauges is made.  相似文献

The electromagnetic structure functionsF 2(ζ) for deep inelastic electron-proton scattering are calculated for the most general second order wave equation constructed on an irreducible fermion representation space of the Lorentz group extended by parity. The results show scaling and a realistic size of the physical particles but a strong unphysical part due to spacelike solutions.  相似文献

We discuss a mechanism by which, in theories with an explicitly broken supersymmetry, we can obtain calculable fermion masses, provided certain softly broken R symmetries are incorporated. The corresponding fermion representations are determined by the pattern of internal symmetry breakdown. This mechanism is explicitly studied in a simple U(1) model. Prospects and limitations of this idea for constructing realistic fermion spectra are discussed.  相似文献

An operator solution is constructed in (1,1) dimensions to the massless quantum chromodynamics of n fermion quarks and n2 ? 1 vector boson gluons with local colour SU(n) symmetry. The interacting quark field is a confined SU(n) Thirring field with zero Abelian coupling. The colour gluons are dependent Lie fields obeying the gluon-free fermionic current identity. Explicit local infinitesimal operator colour transformations (with an arbitrary coordinate-independent Lorentz vector coefficient defining the gauge) are given and the requirement of proper colour covariance linked to the vanishing of the coloured quark source currents and hence to the absence of coloured quark-composite states. One-loop calculations of the thermodynamic potential Ω are presented for temperature gauge and non-gauge theories. Prototypical formulae are derived which give Ω as a function of both (i) boson and/or fermion chemical potential, and in the case of gauge theories (ii) the thermal vacuum parameter A0=const (Aμ is the euclidean gauge potential). From these basic abelian gauge theory formulae, the one-loop contribution to Ω can readily be constructed for Yang-Mills theories, and also for non-gauge theories.  相似文献

The quasiparticle propagator of the Haldane-Rezayi (HR) fractional quantum Hall (FQH) state is calculated, based on a chiral fermion model (or a Weyl fermion model) equipped with a hidden spin SU(2) symmetry. We consider the fermion mass spectrum in the strong coupling vortex phase (VXS) of a lattice fermion-scalar model with a global U(1)L × U(1)R, in two dimensions, in the context of a recently proposed two-cutoff lattice formulation. The fermion doublers are made massive by a strong Wilson-Yukawa coupling, but in contrast with the standard formulation of these type of models, in which the light fermion spectrum was found to be vector-like, we find massless fermions with chiral quantum numbers at finite lattice spacing. When the global symmetry is gauged, this model is expected to give rise to a lattice chiral gauge theory.  相似文献

The effect of a fermion with angular momentum j on quantum phase transitions of a (s,d) bosonic system is investigated. It is shown that the presence of a fermion strongly modifies the critical value at which the transition occurs, and its nature, even for small and moderate values of the coupling constant. The analogy with a bosonic system in an external field is mentioned. Experimental evidence for precursors of quantum phase transitions in bosonic systems plus a fermion (odd-even nuclei) is presented.  相似文献

The nonsymmetric Kaluza-Klein theory unifying Moffat's theory of gravitation, the Yang-Mills' field and the Higgs' fields are constructed in a geometric manner. Spontaneous symmetry breaking, the Higgs' mechanism and mass generation in the theory are discussed. The β-function for the (1,1) superstring is calculated explicitly up to three loops, using two different choices of the fermion quantum field. In both cases the bosonic contribution is exactly cancelled by the fermionic contribution. The calculation is repeated for the heterotic string and the non-vanishing β-function is shown to be compatible with an O(α2) effective action in which there are no terms cubic in the Riemann tensor- or gauge-field strength. Based on the shell structure of the finite nuclear many fermion system (FMFS), the coherent states related to the Spin(2r) group are defined. The global and local functional representations of the FMFS state-vectors and operators, defined on the coset space Spin(2r)/U(r), are constructed. The nonuniqueness of the coherent state functional representations is overcome by the imposition of a consistency condition on the wave functions. The influence of the boundary of the coset space Spin(2r)/U(r) on the local functional representation is physically removed only for the bound states of FMFS. The reason for the non-hermitian behavior of the local functional representation is exposed. Finally, using Bargmann's theory, the boson representation of FMFS are directly calculated from the local functional representation of FMFS. Thus, in this paper, we have demonstrated that the kinematics of the collective behavior of FMFS can be described in three non-equivalent representations: the fermion representation, the global functional representation and the local functional representation.  相似文献

Covariant fermion amplitudes in the NSR string are obtained from the sum over fermionic surfaces with marked points, world sheet fermionic fields being double valued at these points. It is shown that under such boundary conditions one cannot choose a superconformal gauge when the number N = 2p + 4 of marked points is more than 4. The gauge unequivalent supermetrics on a string world sheet are parametrized by grassmannian parameters (supermoduli) and the integration over them produces the transformation of p vertices into the form with the opposite ghost charge. The superspace constraints corresponding to the two inequivalent versions of the 40 + 40 off-shell Weyl multiplet in six dimensions are given. A supersymmetric R2-action (including quartic fermion terms) for one of the two Weyl multiplets is constructed. A crucial role in this construction is played by the observation that there exists a formal relationship between the Weyl and Yang-Mills multiplets.
