The paper studies the global existence and asymptotic behavior of weak solutions to the Cauchy problem for quasi-linear wave equations with viscous damping. It proves that when pmax{m,α}, where m+1, α+1 and p+1 are, respectively, the growth orders of the nonlinear strain terms, the nonlinear damping term and the source term, the Cauchy problem admits a global weak solution, which decays to zero according to the rate of polynomial as t→∞, as long as the initial data are taken in a certain potential well and the initial energy satisfies a bounded condition. Especially in the case of space dimension N=1, the solutions are regularized and so generalized and classical solution both prove to be unique. Comparison of the results with previous ones shows that there exist clear boundaries similar to thresholds among the growth orders of the nonlinear terms, the states of the initial energy and the existence, asymptotic behavior and nonexistence of global solutions of the Cauchy problem.  相似文献

In this article we study the initial boundary value problem for a class of fourth-order nonlinear wave equation with viscous damping term u tt ???αu xxt ?+?u xxxx ?=?f(u x ) x . By argument related to the potential well-convexity method, we prove the global existence and nonexistence of the solution. Further, we give some sharp conditions for global existence and nonexistence of the solution. This generalizes the results obtained in Chen and Lu [G. Chen and B. Lu, The initial-boundary value problems for a class of nonlinear wave equations with damping term, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 351 (2009), pp. 1–15].  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the wave equation with nonlinear boundary damping and source terms. This work is devoted to prove a finite time blow-up result under suitable condition on the initial data and positive initial energy. It proves that when α?max{m,p}, where m+1, α+1 and p+1 are, respectively, the growth orders of the nonlinear strain terms, the nonlinear damping term and the source term, under rather mild conditions on initial data, the Cauchy problem admits a global weak solution. Especially in the case of space dimension N=1, the weak solutions are regularized and so generalized and classical solution both prove to be unique. On the other hand, if 0?α<1, and the initial energy is negative, then under certain opposite conditions, any weak solution of the Cauchy problem blows up in finite time. An algorithm to find explicit approximate solutions of an initial and terminal value problem for the forced Duffing equation with non-viscous damping is accomplished via a generalized quasilinearization method. A nonlinear loaded differential equation with a parameter on a finite interval is studied. The interval is partitioned by the load points, at which the values of the solution to the equation are set as additional parameters. A nonlinear boundary value problem for the considered equation is reduced to a nonlinear multipoint boundary value problem for the system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations with parameters. For fixed parameters, we obtain the Cauchy problems for ordinary differential equations on the subintervals. Substituting the values of the solutions to these problems into the boundary condition and continuity conditions at the partition points, we compose a system of nonlinear algebraic equations in parameters. A method of solving the boundary value problem with a parameter is proposed. The method is based on finding the solution to the system of nonlinear algebraic equations composed.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the initial boundary value problem for generalized logarithmic improved Boussinesq equation. By using the Galerkin method, logarithmic Sobolev inequality, logarithmic Gronwall inequality, and compactness theorem, we show the existence of global weak solution to the problem. By potential well theory, we show the norm of the solution will grow up as an exponential function as time goes to infinity under some suitable conditions.
