The concepts of K-large and generalized K-large Abelian groups are introduced, and their main properties and interconnections are studied. We consider groups that are K-large (generalized K-large) with respect to the class of all groups and torsion-free groups.  Using elementary graded automorphisms of polytopal algebras (essentially the coordinate rings of projective toric varieties) polyhedral versions of the group of elementary matrices and the Steinberg and Milnor groups are defined. They coincide with the usual K-theoretic groups in the special case when the polytope is a unit simplex and can be thought of as compact/polytopal substitutes for the tame automorphism groups of polynomial algebras. Relative to the classical case, many new aspects have to be taken into account. We describe these groups explicitly when the underlying polytope is 2-dimensional. Already this low-dimensional case provides interesting classes of groups. Surfaces in Euclidean three-space with constant ratio of mean curvature to Gauss curvature arise naturally as the parallel surfaces to minimal surfaces. They might possess singularities which occur naturally as focal points of minimal surfaces. We study geometric properties and the singularities of such surfaces, prove some global results about them, and provide a Björling formula to construct such surfaces with prescribed point or curve singularities.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose approximations to compute the steady-state performance measures of the M/GI/N+GI queue receiving Poisson arrivals with N identical servers, and general service and abandonment-time distributions. The approximations are based on scaling a single server M/GI/1+GI queue. For problems involving deterministic and exponential abandon times distributions, we suggest a practical way to compute the waiting time distributions and their moments using the Laplace transform of the workload density function. Our first contribution is numerically computing the workload density function in the M/GI/1+GI queue when the abandon times follow general distributions different from the deterministic and exponential distributions. Then we compute the waiting time distributions and their moments. Next, we scale-up the M/GI/1+GI queue giving rise to our approximations to capture the behavior of the multi-server system. We conduct extensive numerical experiments to test the speed and performance of the approximations, which prove the accuracy of their predictions.   相似文献

In this note we introduce the k-sum linear programming problem (KLP) which subsumes the classical linear programming problem and the minmax linear programming problem. KLP can be transformed into a linear program with an exponential number of additional constraints and one additional variable. Exploiting the special structure of these additional constraints, we show that KLP can be solved in polynomial time. Two promising simplex-based algorithms are also suggested to solve KLP.  相似文献

In this note we first define the notions of (weak, strong) implicative hyper K-algebras. Then we show by examples that these notions are different. After that we state and prove some theorems which determine the relationship between these notions and (weak) hyper K-ideals. Also we obtain some relations between these notions and (weak) implicative hyper K-ideals. Finally, we study the implicative hyper K-algebras of order 3, in particular we obtain a relationship between the positive implicative hyper K-algebras and (weak, strong) implicative hyper K-algebras under a simple condition.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group. We define the prime graph Γ(G) as follows. The vertices of Γ(G) are the primes dividing the order of G and two distinct vertices p, q are joined by an edge if there is an element in G of order pq. Recently M. Hagie [5] determined finite groups G satisfying Γ(G) = Γ(S), where S is a sporadic simple group. Let p > 3 be a prime number. In this paper we determine finite groups G such that Γ(G) = Γ(PSL(2, p)). As a consequence of our results we prove that if p > 11 is a prime number and p ≢ 1 (mod 12), then PSL(2, p) is uniquely determined by its prime graph and so these groups are characterizable by their prime graph. For estimating the entropy of an absolutely continuous multivariate distribution, we propose nonparametric estimators based on the Euclidean distances between the n sample points and their k n -nearest neighbors, where {k n : n = 1, 2, …} is a sequence of positive integers varying with n. We work with the abstract K and J interpolation method generated by a sequence lattice Г. We investigate the deviation of an interpolated operator from a given operator ideal by establishing formulae for the ideal measure of the interpolated operator in terms of the ideal measures of restrictions of the operator. Let ƒ be a transcendental meromorphic function, a a nonzero finite complex number, and n ⩾ 2 a positive integer. Then ƒ + a(ƒ′) n assumes every complex value infinitely often. This answers a question of Ye for n = 2. A related normality criterion is also given. In this paper, we consider the special case of the question raised by Halmos (see below). In particular, we show that if Tk is p-hyponormal, then T is a subscalar operator of order 4k. As a corollary, we obtain that if Tk is p-hyponormal and σ(T) has nonempty interior in the plane, then T has a nontrivial invariant subspace.  相似文献

In this paper we prove that an elementary Abelian p-group of rank 4p−2 is not a CI(2)-group, i.e. there exists a 2-closed transitive permutation group containing two non-conjugate regular elementary Abelian p-subgroups of rank 4p−2, see Hirasaka and Muzychuk (J. Comb. Theory Ser. A 94(2), 339–362, 2001). It was shown in Hirasaka and Muzychuk (loc cit) and Muzychuk (Discrete Math. 264(1–3), 167–185, 2003) that this is related to the problem of determining whether an elementary Abelian p-group of rank n is a CI-group. As a strengthening of this result we prove that an elementary Abelian p-group E of rank greater or equal to 4p−2 is not a CI-group, i.e. there exist two isomorphic Cayley digraphs over E whose corresponding connection sets are not conjugate in Aut E.
