For a self‐similar set E with the open set condition we completely determine the class of its Hausdorff gauges and the class of its prepacking gauges. Moreover, its Hausdorff measures and its packing premeasures with respect to the corresponding gauges are estimated. Without the open set condition we prove that a doubling gauge function is a packing gauge of E if and only if it is a prepacking gauge of E. Also, we give some extensions and applications of these results. Here a gauge function is called a Hausdorff, a prepacking, and a packing gauge of a set, if with respect to the function the set has positive and finite Hausdorff measure, packing premeasure, and packing measure, respectively. Let X be a metric space andμa finite Borel measure on X. Let pμq,t and pμq,t be the packing premeasure and the packing measure on X, respectively, defined by the gauge (μB(x,r))q(2r)t, where q, t∈R. For any compact set E of finite packing premeasure the authors prove: (1) if q≤0 then pμq,t(E)=pμq,t(E);(2)if q>0 andμis doubling on E then pμq,t(E) and pμq,t(E) are both zero or neither.  相似文献

Let S be a foundation locally compact topological semigroup. Two new topologies τ c and τ w are introduced on M a (S)*. We introduce τ c and τ w almost periodic functionals in M a (S)*. We study these classes and compare them with each other and with the norm almost periodic and weakly almost periodic functionals. For fM a (S)*, it is proved that T f ∈ℬ(M a (S),M a (S)*) is strong almost periodic if and only if f is τ c -almost periodic. Indeed, we have obtained a generalization of a well known result of Crombez for locally compact group to a more general setting of foundation topological semigroups. Finally if P(S) (the set of all probability measures in M a (S)) has the semiright invariant isometry property, it is shown that the set of τ w -almost periodic functionals has a topological left invariant mean.  相似文献

The transversal number, packing number, covering number and strong stability number of hypergraphs are denoted by τ, ν, ϱ and α, respectively. A hypergraph family t is called τ-bound (ϱ-bound) if there exists a “binding function”f(x) such that τ(H)≦f(v(H)) (ϱ(H)≦f(α(H))) for allH ∈ t. Methods are presented to show that various hypergraph families are τ-bound and/or ϱ-bound. The results can be applied to families of geometrical nature like subforests of trees, boxes, boxes of polyominoes or to families defined by hypergraph theoretic terms like the family where every subhypergraph has the Helly-property.  相似文献

In a previous paper (Israel J. Math.28 (1977), 313–324), it was shown that for a certain class of cardinals τ,l 1(τ) embeds in a Banach spaceX if and only ifL 1([0, 1]τ) embeds inX *. An extension (to a rather wider class of cardinals) of the basic lemma of that paper is here applied so as to yield an affirmative answer to a question posed by Rosenthal concerning dual ℒ1-spaces. It is shown that ifZ * is a dual Banach space, isomorphic to a complemented subspace of anL 1-space, and κ is the density character ofZ *, thenl 1(κ) embeds inZ *. A corollary of this result is that every injective bidual Banach space is isomorphic tol (κ) for some κ. The second part of this article is devoted to an example, constructed using the continuum hypothesis, of a compact spaceS which carries a homogeneous measure of type ω1, but which is such thatl 11) does not embed in ℰ(S). This shows that the main theorem of the already mentioned paper is not valid in the case τ = ω1. The dual space ℰ(S)* is isometric to , and is a member of a new isomorphism class of dualL 1-spaces.  相似文献

Let V be a finite dimensional p-adic vector space and let τ be an operator in GL(V). A probability measure μ on V is called τ-decomposable or if μ = τ(μ)* ρ for some probability measure ρ on V. Moreover, when τ is contracting, if ρ is infinitely divisible, so is μ, and if ρ is embeddable, so is μ. These two subclasses of are denoted by L 0(τ) and L 0 #(τ) respectively. When μ is infinitely divisible τ-decomposable for a contracting τ and has no idempotent factors, then it is τ-semi-selfdecomposable or operator semi-selfdecomposable. In this paper, sequences of decreasing subclasses of the above mentioned three classes, , are introduced and several properties and characterizations are studied. The results obtained here are p-adic vector space versions of those given for probability measures on Euclidean spaces.  相似文献

Two closely related results are presented, one of them concerned with the connection between topological and measure-theoretic properties of compact spaces, the other being a non-separable analogue of a result of Peŀczyński's about Banach spaces containingL 1. Let τ be a regular cardinal satisfying the hypothesis that κω<τ whenever κ<τ. The following are proved: 1) A compact spaceT carries a Radon measure which is homogeneous of type τ, if and only if there exists a continuous surjection ofT onto [0, 1]τ. 2) A Banach spaceX has a subspace isomorphic tol 1(τ) if and only ifX has a subspace isomorphic toL 1({0, 1}τ). An example is given to show that a more recent result of Rosenthal's about Banach spaces containingl 1 does not have an obvious transfinite analogue. A second example (answering a question of Rosenthal's) shows that there is a Banach spaceX which contains no copy ofl 11), while the unit ball ofX is not weakly sequentially compact.  相似文献

Let V be a finite dimensional p-adic vector space and let τ be an operator in GL(V). A probability measure μ on V is called τ-decomposable or m ? [(L)\tilde]0(t)\mu\in {\tilde L}_0(\tau) if μ = τ(μ)* ρ for some probability measure ρ on V. Moreover, when τ is contracting, if ρ is infinitely divisible, so is μ, and if ρ is embeddable, so is μ. In this paper, sequences of decreasing subclasses of the above mentioned three classes, [(L)\tilde]m(t) é Lm(t) é L#m(t), 1 £ m £ ¥{\tilde L}_m(\tau)\supset L_m(\tau) \supset L^\#_m(\tau), 1\le m\le \infty , are introduced and several properties and characterizations are studied. We construct, under MA, a non-Hausdorff (T1-)topological extension *ω of ω, such that every function from ω to ω extends uniquely to a continuous function from *ω to *ω. We also show (in ZFC) that for every nontrivial topological extension *X of a countable set X there exists a topology τf on *X, strictly finer than the Star topology, and such that (*X, τf) is still a topological extension of X with the same function extensions *f. This solves two questions raised by M. Di Nasso and M. Forti.  相似文献

Let E be a cookie-cutter set with dimH E =s. It is known that the Hausdorff s-measure and the packing s-measure of the set E are positive and finite. In this paper, we prove that for a gauge function g the set E has positive and finite Hausdorff g-measure if and only if 0 〈 liminft→0 g(t)/ts 〈 ∞. Also, we prove that for a doubling gauge function g the set E has positive and finite packing g-measure if and only if 0 〈 lim supt→0 g(t)/ts 〈 ∞.  相似文献

Let G be a locally compact group with a weight function ω. Recently, we have shown that the Banach space L0 (G,1/ω) can be identified with the strong dual of L1(G, ω)equipped with some locally convex topologies τ. Here we use this duality to introduce an Arens multiplication on (L1(G, ω), τ)**, and prove that the topological center of (L1(G, ω), τ)** is (L1(G, ω); this enables us to conclude that (L1(G, ω), τ) is Arens regular if and only if G is discrete. We also give a characterization for Arens regularity of L0 (G, 1/ω)1. Received: 8 March 2005  相似文献

Abstract Let A be a unital simple C*-algebra of real zero, stable rank one, with weakly unperforated K 0( A) and unique normalized quasi-trace τ, and let X be a compact metric space. We show that two monomorphisms φ, ψ : C(X)A are approximately unitarily equivalent if and only if φ and ψ induce the same element in KL(C(X), A) and the two lineal functionals τ∘φ and τ∘ψ are equal. We also show that, with an injectivity condition, an almost multiplicative morphism from C(X) into A with vanishing KK-obstacle is close to a homomorphism. We endow any proper A-convex H*-algebra (E, τ) with a locally pre-C*-topology. The latter is equivalent to that introduced by the pre C*-norm given by Ptàk function when (E, τ) is a Q-algebra. We also prove that the algebra of complex numbers is the unique proper locally A-convex H*-algebra which is barrelled and Q-algebra.   相似文献

Let be the classical middle-third Cantor set and let μ be the Cantor measure. Set s = log 2/log 3. We will determine by an explicit formula for every point x the upper and lower s-densities Θ*s , x), Θ*s , x) of the Cantor measure at the point x, in terms of the 3-adic expansion of x. We show that there exists a countable set F such that 9(Θ*s , x))− 1/s + (Θ*s , x))− 1/s = 16 holds for x \F. Furthermore, for μC almost all x, Θ*s , X) − 2 · 4s and Θ*s , x) = 4s. As an application, we will show that the s-dimensional packing measure of the middle-third Cantor set is 4s.  相似文献

We show that ifE is a separable symmetric Banach function space on the positive half-line thenE has the Kadec-Klee property if and only if, for every semifinite von Neumann algebra (M, τ), the associated spaceE(M, τ) ofτ-measurable operators has the Kadec-Klee property. We consider the delay differential equation [(x)\dot](t) = - mx(t) + f(x(t - t))\dot x(t) = - \mu x(t) + f(x(t - \tau )), where μ, τ are positive parameters and f is a strictly monotone, nonlinear C 1-function satisfying f(0) = 0 and some convexity properties. It is well known that for prescribed oscillation frequencies (characterized by the values of a discrete Lyapunov functional) there exists τ* > 0 such that for every τ > τ* there is a unique periodic solution. The period function is the minimal period of the unique periodic solution as a function of τ > τ*. First we show that it is a monotone nondecreasing Lipschitz continuous function of τ with Lipschitz constant 2. As an application of our theorem we give a new proof of some recent results of Yi, Chen and Wu [14] about uniqueness and existence of periodic solutions of a system of delay differential equations.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group and H a subgroup of G. We say that: (1) H is τ-quasinormal in G if H permutes with all Sylow subgroups Q of G such that (|Q|, |H|) = 1 and (|H|, |Q G |) ≠ 1; (2) H is weakly τ-quasinormal in G if G has a subnormal subgroup T such that HT = G and THH τG , where H τG is the subgroup generated by all those subgroups of H which are τ-quasinormal in G. Our main result here is the following. Let ℱ be a saturated formation containing all supersoluble groups and let XE be normal subgroups of a group G such that G/E ∈ ℱ. Suppose that every non-cyclic Sylow subgroup P of X has a subgroup D such that 1 < |D| < |P| and every subgroup H of P with order |H| = |D| and every cyclic subgroup of P with order 4 (if |D| = 2 and P is non-Abelian) not having a supersoluble supplement in G is weakly τ-quasinormal in G. If X is either E or F* (E), then G ∈ ℱ.  相似文献
