We use the "wavelet transform microscope" to carry out a comparative statistical analysis of DNA bending profiles and of the corresponding DNA texts. In the three kingdoms, one reveals on both signals a characteristic scale of 100-200 bp that separates two different regimes of power-law correlations (PLC). In the small-scale regime, PLC are observed in eukaryotic, in double-strand DNA viral, and in archaeal genomes, which contrasts with their total absence in the genomes of eubacteria and their viruses. This strongly suggests that small-scale PLC are related to the mechanisms underlying the wrapping of DNA in the nucleosomal structure. We further speculate that the large scale PLC are the signature of the higher-order structure and dynamics of chromatin.  相似文献

We compute the overlap function and transverse momentum correlations in various versions of the multiperipheral model. We examine in particular how close to saturation is the bound for the pomeron slope recently derived by Krzywicki.Correlations between neighbouring transverse momentum transfers in the S-matrix element are shown to be able to bring the multiperipheral model in agreement with experiment. We also study the case of cluster production and suggest a possible improvement of Krzywicki's bound.  相似文献

随着单分子操纵技术的发明与发展,人们已经可以对单个生物大分子施以力或力矩,并测量它们的物理性质,DNA单分子的力学实验表明,在分子尺度上理解生物大分子的生化过程,力与能量是同等重要的结构与功能参数。一个梯子模型被用来描述双链DNA的外力拉伸曲线,在这个模型中,DNA是由许多碱基对(梯子的横杆,横杆之间存在吸引势)连接两条聚核苷酸虫链(梯子的两侧)形成的高分子,利用路径积分法得出的理论曲线与实验曲线吻合得很好,对于单链DNA,用分立的杂化高分子链统计理论的母函数方法来计算其弹性行为,得出与实验相符合的外力引起的解链相变结果。此外,对于抑瘤蛋白p53识别序列DNA微环弹性进行分析,发现其弹性模量只是通常随机序列的三分之一。  相似文献

The mesoscopic structures of the Heusler alloys Ni49.1Mn29.4Ga21.5 and Ni2MnGa are studied by small-angle polarized neutron scattering in the temperature range 15 < T < 400 K. The characteristic temperatures of phase transformations (ferromagnetic, martensitic, and premartensitic transformations) and the characteristic sizes of mesoscopic inhomogeneities in them have been determined. Differences in the spin dynamics of these phases and magnetic-nuclear interference upon neutron scattering have been revealed. The evolutions of the mesoscopic structures in the nonstoichiometric and stoichiometric alloys are found to be substantially different.  相似文献

Hierarchically granulated films formed on a material subjected to the action of a high-temperature plasma have been microscopically studied. The statistical self-similarity of the structure of the surface from nanoscale to macroscale, as well as long-range correlations in the relief that are due to the statistically inhomogeneous structure of granularity, has been revealed.  相似文献

In the framework of the Glauber multiple-scattering theory, the elastic collisions of proton-proton (pp) at the center-of-mass energies = 23.5, 30.7, 44.7, and 52.8 GeV and alpha-proton (p) at = 88 and 89 GeV are analyzed by considering the quark structure of their constituents. The differential cross-section containing the full multiple-scattering series between their quarks is calculated using Gaussian forms for the quark density and quark-quark (QQ) scattering amplitudes. The results obtained from the quark model and the conventional nucleon model are compared with the experimental data. The comparison shows that the nucleon model reproduces the experimental data more satisfactorily than the quark model, and both approaches have limited success in describing the data at such energies. The agreement with the experimental data is improved by the inclusion of the phase variation.  相似文献

This study revisits the classical x-ray diffraction patterns from hydrated, noncrystalline fibers originally used to establish the helical structure of DNA. We argue that changes in these diffraction patterns with DNA packing density reveal strong azimuthally dependent interactions between adjacent molecules up to approximately 40 A interaxial or approximately 20 A surface-to-surface separations. These interactions appear to force significant torsional "straightening" of DNA and strong azimuthal alignment of nearest neighbor molecules. The results are in good agreement with the predictions of recent theoretical models relating DNA-DNA interactions to the helical symmetry of their surface charge patterns.  相似文献

We study the elastic behaviour of a supercoiled DNA molecule. The simplest model is that of a rod-like chain, involving two elastic constants, the bending and the twist rigidities. Writing this model in terms of Euler angles, we show that the corresponding Hamiltonian is singular and needs a small distance cut-off, which is a natural length scale giving the limit of validity of the model, of the order of the double-helix pitch. The rod-like chain in the presence of the cut-off is able to reproduce quantitatively the experimentally observed effects of supercoiling on the elongation-force characteristics, in the small supercoiling regime. An exact solution of the model, using both transfer matrix techniques and its mapping to a quantum mechanics problem, allows to extract, from the experimental data, the value of the twist rigidity. We also analyse the variation of the torque and the writhe-to-twist ratio versus supercoiling, showing analytically the existence of a rather sharp crossover regime which can be related to the excitation of plectoneme-like structures. Finally we study the extension fluctuations of a stretched and supercoiled DNA molecule, both at fixed torque and at fixed supercoiling angle, and we compare the theoretical predictions to some preliminary experimental data. We present measurements of fluid particle accelerations in turbulent water flow between counterrotating disks using three-dimensional Lagrangian particle tracking. By simultaneously following multiple particles with sub-Kolmogorov-time-scale temporal resolution, we measured the spatial correlation of fluid particle acceleration at Taylor microscale Reynolds numbers between 200 and 690. We also obtained indirect, nonintrusive measurements of the Eulerian pressure structure functions by integrating the acceleration correlations. Our measurements are in good agreement with the theoretical predictions of the acceleration correlations and the pressure structure function in isotropic high-Reynolds number turbulence by Obukhov and Yaglom in 1951 [Prikl. Mat. Mekh. 15, 3 (1951)]. The measured pressure structure functions display K41 scaling in the inertial range.  相似文献

By using Hurst's analysis and transfer approach, the rescaled range functions and Hurst exponents of human chromosome 22 and enterobacteria phage lambda DNA sequences are investigated and the transmission coefficients, Landauer resistances and Lyapunov coefficients of finite segments based on above genomic DNA sequences are calculated. In a comparison with quasiperiodic and random artificial DNA sequences, we find that λ-DNA exhibits anticorrelation behavior characterized by a Hurst exponent 0.5<H<1 while, as far as the segments selected in our Letter are concerned, Ch22 sequence displays a transition from correlation behavior to anticorrelation behavior. The resonant peaks of the transmission coefficient in genomic sequences can survive in longer sequence length than in random sequences but in shorter sequence length than in quasiperiodic sequences. It is shown that the genomic sequences have long-range correlation properties to some extent but the correlations are not strong enough to maintain the scale invariance properties.  相似文献

We suggest an experiment to study Luttinger liquid behavior in a one-dimensional nanostructure, avoiding the usual complications associated with transport measurements. The proposed setup consists of a quantum box, biased by a gate voltage, and side coupled to a quantum wire by a point contact. Close to the degeneracy points of the Coulomb blockaded box, and in the presence of a magnetic field sufficiently strong to spin polarize the electrons, the setup can be described as a Luttinger liquid interacting with an effective Kondo impurity. Using exact nonperturbative techniques, we predict that the differential capacitance of the box will exhibit distinctive Luttinger liquid scaling with temperature and gate voltage.  相似文献

It is well known that the Pauli principle plays a substantial role at low energies because the phonon operators are not ideal boson operators. Calculating the exact commutators between the quasiparticle and phonon operators, one can take into account the Pauli principle corrections. Besides, the ground state correlations due to the quasiparticle interaction in the ground state influence the single-particle fragmentation as well. In this paper, we generalize the basic equations of the quasiparticle-phonon nuclear model to account for both effects mentioned. As an illustration of our approach, calculations on the structure of the low-lying states in 133Ba have been performed. The text was submitted by the authors in English.  相似文献

A model for the pair-distribution function of nonequilibrium hard-core fluids is proposed based on a model for the effect of velocity correlations on the structure. Good agreement is found with molecular dynamics simulations of granular fluids and of sheared elastic hard spheres. It is argued that the incorporation of velocity correlations are crucial to correctly modeling atomic scale structure in nonequilibrium fluids.  相似文献

We address the relation between long-range correlations and charge transfer efficiency in aperiodic artificial or genomic DNA sequences. Coherent charge transfer through the highest occupied molecular orbital states of the guanine nucleotide is studied using the transmission approach, and the focus is on how the sequence-dependent backscattering profile can be inferred from correlations between base pairs.  相似文献
