The dynamics of dipolariton states in a planar microcavity has been studied upon pumping of a state corresponding to the middle dipolariton branch. It has been shown that, under exact resonance conditions, both periodic and aperiodic regimes of conversion of pump dipolaritons to dipolaritons of idler and signal modes occur. The periodic regime of conversion of signal and idler dipolaritons without involving pump dipolaritons on the middle branch has also been analyzed.  相似文献

We report extended mode-hop-free tuning in a continuous-wave, pump-enhanced optical parametric oscillator (PE-OPO). We employ a dual-cavity configuration to allow independent control of the resonant pump and signal fields, and so we can suppress frequent mode hops in the signal as the pump is tuned in frequency. With the signal field clamped in frequency by an uncoated etalon, the idler field can be scanned smoothly through a range of 10.8 GHz. The PE-OPO outputs can also be tuned coarsely from 1.01 to 1.18 mum in the signal and from 2.71 to 3.26 mum and 4.07 to 5.26 mum in the idler. We find that increased idler absorption only slightly increases the oscillation threshold.  相似文献

We demonstrate experimentally an atomic magnetometer based on optical pumping theory, a magnetic resonance that is induced by a radio frequency field and dependent on the magnetic field strength. Compared with the conventional method using one radiation field, which is used not only as the probe beam but also as a pump beam, the additional re-pump beam can increase remarkably the amplitude of the signal. It is shown that the amplitude of the magnetic field resonance signal can increase more than 55% by using an additional re-pump beam, which makes the sensitivity of the magnetometer higher. Finally, we investigate the relation between amplitude of the signal and re-pump laser power, and calculate the atomic population in the trapping states with rate equations.  相似文献

We investigate superradiant cascade emissions from an atomic ensemble driven by two-color classical fields. The correlated pair of photons (signal and idler) is generated by adiabatically driving the system with large-detuned light fields via four-wave mixing. The signal photon from the upper transition of the diamond-type atomic levels is followed by the idler one which can be superradiant due to light-induced dipole–dipole interactions. We then calculate the cooperative Lamb shift (CLS) of the idler photon, which is a cumulative effect of interaction energy. We study its dependence on a cylindrical geometry, a conventional setup in cold atom experiments, and estimate the maximum CLS which can be significant and observable. Manipulating the CLS of cascade emissions enables frequency qubits that provide alternative robust elements in quantum network.  相似文献

We experimentally engineer a high-spectral-purity single-photon source using a single-interferometer-coupled silicon microring. By the reconfiguration of the interferometer, different coupling conditions can be obtained, corresponding to different quality factors for the pump and signal/idler. The ratio between the quality factor of the pump and signal/idler ranges from 0.29 to 2.57. By constructing the signal—idler joint spectral intensity, we intuitively demonstrate the spectral correlation of the signal and idler. As the ratio between the quality factor of the pump and signal/idler increases, the spectral correlation of the signal and idler decreases, i.e., the spectral purity of the signal/idler photons increases. Furthermore, time-integrated second-order correlation of the signal photons is measured, giving a value up to 94.95±3.46%. Such high-spectral-purity photons will improve the visibility of quantum interference and facilitate the development of on-chip quantum information processing.  相似文献

A recently developed B-spline algorithm is extended and utilized to calculate excited states of He atoms in the presence of strong magnetic fields. Binding energies are presented for He in the five excited atomic states 210+, 110-, 210-, 11(-1)+, and 21(-1)+ with magnetic field strength ranging from 0.0001 to 10 a.u. The obtained energies are compared with available theoretical data, and found to be in good agreement. We investigate influence of magnetic fields on atomic structures of multielectron atoms, and illustrate that how electron probability density distributions change with increasing magnetic field strength. The current approach is directly applicable to simulations of discrete spectra for He atoms in the atmospheres of magnetized white dwarf stars.  相似文献

We present a fiber-based source of polarization-entangled photons that is well suited for quantum communication applications in the 1550 nm band of standard fiber-optic telecommunications. Polarization entanglement is created by pumping a nonlinear-fiber Sagnac interferometer with two time-delayed orthogonally polarized pump pulses and subsequently removing the time distinguishability by passing the parametrically scattered signal and idler photon pairs through a piece of birefringent fiber. Coincidence detection of the signal and idler photons yields biphoton interference with visibility greater than 90%, while no interference is observed in direct detection of either signal or idler photons. All four Bell states can be prepared with our setup and we demonstrate violations of the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt form of Bell's inequality by up to 10 standard deviations of measurement uncertainty.  相似文献

The effect of atomic impurities including N, O, Na, Ti and Co on the surface states of the topological insulator (TI) Bi(2)Te(3) is studied using pseudopotential first principles methods. The robustness of the TI surface states is particularly investigated against magnetic and non-magnetic atomic adsorption by calculating the electronic band structure, charge transfer, and magnetic moments. Interestingly, it is found that a non-magnetic nitrogen atom has produced a residual magnetic moment and opens a gap in the surface states whereas Na and O atoms preserve the Dirac-like dispersion. The charge transfer from the adatoms produces an electric dipole field that causes Rashba splitting in the surface bands. For atomic impurities with 3d orbitals (Ti and Co), the TI surface states are destroyed and two spin-resolved resonance peaks are developed near the Fermi level in the DOS.  相似文献

We observed the phase relation among subharmonic pulses generated by a femtosecond optical parametric oscillator (OPO). The ratio of the optical frequencies of the idler, the signal, and the pump pulses was set to 1:2:3. Under these conditions the wavelengths of the second harmonic of the signal pulse and the sum frequency between the pump and the idler pulses are the same. The beat signal between these two pulses represents the phase relationship among the pump, the signal, and the idler. The beat frequency varied when the cavity length of the OPO was changed.  相似文献

Molecules are created from a Bose-Einstein condensate of atomic 87Rb using a Feshbach resonance. A Stern-Gerlach field is applied, in order to spatially separate the molecules from the remaining atoms. For detection, the molecules are converted back into atoms, again using the Feshbach resonance. The measured position of the molecules yields their magnetic moment. This quantity strongly depends on the magnetic field, thus revealing an avoided crossing of two bound states at a field value slightly below the Feshbach resonance. This avoided crossing is exploited to trap the molecules in one dimension.  相似文献

Amplification of a weak circularly polarized light signal in a multilevel atomic medium excited by a strong linearly polarized resonant radiation is studied. A strong optical pumping may lead to the population inversion between magnetic sublevels of hyperfine components of the ground and excited states. Solution to the self-consistent system of density matrix equations and Maxwell equations for propagation of the weak signal allows analyzing optimum conditions of amplification.  相似文献

We analyze a doubly-resonant type II phase-matched optical parametric oscillator that includes an intracavity waveplate for inducing mutual injection locking between the signal and the idler. The intracavity waveplate provides a linear coupling between the normally orthogonally polarized signal and idler fields and allows for mode locking at frequency degeneracy. Under mode locked conditions the signal–idler phase difference is locked and the optical parametric oscillator becomes self-phase locked. The signal–idler phase can be adjusted by changing the operating point within the locking range. Two self-phase locked modes with different thresholds and signal–idler phases are possible. Characteristics of the self-phase locked regime are presented for different linear coupling strengths.  相似文献

A scheme of five-level double-ladder-type atomic system is proposed with the aim of implementing dual-channel all-optical switching. Two transitions in the five-level atomic medium independently interact with the two orthogonally (circularly) polarized components from a weak linearly-polarized probe beam, while two other atomic transitions are coherently driven by a control beam and a switching signal beam. We demonstrate that the switching on/off of two orthogonally polarized beams at different frequencies can be achieved by adjusting the magnitude of the external magnetic field, which expands the frequency range of an optical signal switching operation and may improve its practicability.  相似文献

A consistent quantum-mechanical approach is used to calculate a fluorescence signal from a cold atomic ensemble excited by pulsed radiation and exposed to a DC electric or magnetic field. The short time Fourier transform is used to analyze the spectral composition of this signal and to investigate its changes over time after the end of excitation. It is demonstrated that external fields substantially change both the shape of the spectrum and its dynamics. The discovered effects are explained as being the result of action of these fields on the spectrum of states of the two-atomic quasi-molecular clusters that randomly form in disordered ensembles.  相似文献

Multiphase patterns are found in a mean-field model of a singly-resonant optical parametric oscillator that converts a pump field at frequency 3ω into signal and idler fields at frequencies 2ω and ω. A complex Ginzburg-Landau equation without diffusion and with a quadratic phase-sensitive nonlinear term is derived under single-longitudinal and paraxial propagation approximations. Owing to the phase-matched multistep parametric process ω + ω = 2ω, phase locking of the resonated signal field is possible with three distinct phase states. Three-armed rotating spirals, target patterns and light filamentation are found by a numerical analysis of the mean-field equation. We discuss the geometric phases and flux densities for the metastable states of hydrogen with principal quantum number n = 2 being subjected to adiabatically varying external electric and magnetic fields. Convenient representations of the flux densities as complex integrals are derived. Both, parity conserving (PC) and parity violating (PV) flux densities and phases are identified. General expressions for the flux densities following from rotational invariance are derived. Specific cases of external fields are discussed. In a pure magnetic field the phases are given by the geometry of the path in magnetic field space. But for electric fields in presence of a constant magnetic field and for electric plus magnetic fields the geometric phases carry information on the atomic parameters, in particular, on the PV atomic interaction. We show that for our metastable states also the decay rates can be influenced by the geometric phases and we give a concrete example for this effect. Finally we emphasise that the general relations derived here for geometric phases and flux densities are also valid for other atomic systems having stable or metastable states, for instance, for He with n = 2. Thus, a measurement of geometric phases may give important experimental information on the mass matrix and the electric and magnetic dipole matrices for such systems. This could be used as a check of corresponding theoretical calculations of wave functions and matrix elements.  相似文献

报道了一种抽运-检测型的非线性磁光旋转铷原子磁力仪.其原理是线偏振光通过处于外磁场环境中被极化的原子介质后,由于原子对线偏振光中左、右圆偏成分不同的吸收和色散,导致光的偏振方向会产生与磁场相关的转动.分析了该磁力仪的工作原理,并测试了它对不同磁场大小的响应.测试结果表明,磁力仪测量范围为100—100000 nT,极限灵敏度为0.2 p T/Hz~(1/2),磁场分辨率为0.1 p T.进一步研究了不同磁场下原子系综极化态的横向弛豫时间,讨论了原子磁力仪高磁场采样率的获得方法.本文的原子磁力仪在5000—100000 n T的磁场测量范围内磁场采样率可实现1—1000 Hz范围内可调,能够测量低频的微弱交变磁场.本文的研究内容为大磁场测量范围、高灵敏度、高磁场采样率的原子磁力仪研制提供了重要参考.  相似文献
