We consider a class of nonlinear total differential equations with a single singular line. For the case in which the consistency condition is satisfied identically, we find the solution manifold of such systems and analyze the behavior of solutions on the degeneration line.  相似文献

We introduce the notion of multiscale covariance tensor fields (CTF) associated with Euclidean random variables as a gateway to the shape of their distributions. Multiscale CTFs quantify variation of the data about every point in the data landscape at all spatial scales, unlike the usual covariance tensor that only quantifies global variation about the mean. Empirical forms of localized covariance previously have been used in data analysis and visualization, for example, in local principal component analysis, but we develop a framework for the systematic treatment of theoretical questions and mathematical analysis of computational models. We prove strong stability theorems with respect to the Wasserstein distance between probability measures, obtain consistency results for estimators, as well as bounds on the rate of convergence of empirical CTFs. These results show that CTFs are robust to sampling, noise and outliers. We provide numerous illustrations of how CTFs let us extract shape from data and also apply CTFs to manifold clustering, the problem of categorizing data points according to their noisy membership in a collection of possibly intersecting smooth submanifolds of Euclidean space. We prove that the proposed manifold clustering method is stable and carry out several experiments to illustrate the method.  相似文献

The article gives a necessary and sufficient condition for a Frobenius manifold to be a CDV-structure. We show that there exists a positive definite CDV-structure on any semi-simple Frobenius manifold. We also compare three natural connections on a CDV-structure and conclude that the underlying Hermitian manifold of a non-trivial CDV-structure is not a K?hler manifold. Finally, we compute the harmonic potential of a harmonic Frobenius manifold.  相似文献

We study compact complex manifolds bimeromorphic to locally conformally Kähler (LCK) manifolds. This is an analogy of studying a compact complex manifold bimeromorphic to a Kähler manifold. We give a negative answer for a question of Ornea, Verbitsky, Vuletescu by showing that there exists no LCK current on blow ups along a submanifold (dim \(\ge 1\)) of Vaisman manifolds. We show that a compact complex manifold with LCK currents satisfying a certain condition can be modified to an LCK manifold. Based on this fact, we define a compact complex manifold with a modification from an LCK manifold as a locally conformally class C (LC class C) manifold. We give examples of LC class C manifolds that are not LCK manifolds. Finally, we show that all LC class C manifolds are locally conformally balanced manifolds.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce horizontal and vertical warped product Finsler manifolds. We prove that every C-reducible or proper Berwaldian doubly warped product Finsler manifold is Riemannian. Then, we find the relation between Riemannian curvatures of doubly warped product Finsler manifold and its components, and consider the cases that this manifold is flat or has scalar flag curvature. We define the doubly warped Sasaki-Matsumoto metric for warped product manifolds and find a condition under which the horizontal and vertical tangent bundles are totally geodesic. We obtain some conditions under which a foliated manifold reduces to a Reinhart manifold. Finally, we study an almost complex structure on the tangent bundle of a doubly warped product Finsler manifold.  相似文献

In this paper we propose a numerical method for approximating connecting orbits on a manifold and its bifurcation parameters. First we extend the standard nondegeneracy condition to the connecting orbits on a manifold. Then we construct a well-posed system such that the nondegenerate connecting orbit pair on a manifold is its regular solution. We use a difference method to discretize the ODE part in this well-posed system and we find that the numerical solutions still remain on the same manifold. We also set up a modified projection boundary condition to truncate connecting orbits on a manifold onto a finite interval. Then we prove the existence of truncated approximate connecting orbit pairs and derive error estimates. Finally, we carry out some numerical experiments to illustrate the theoretical estimates.  相似文献

Let M3 be a non-compact hyperbolic 3-manifold that has a triangulation by positively oriented ideal tetrahedra. We show that the gluing variety defined by the gluing consistency equations is a smooth complex manifold with dimension equal to the number of boundary components of M3. Moreover, we show that the complex lengths of any collection of non-trivial boundary curves, one from each boundary component, give a local holomorphic parameterization of the gluing variety. As an application, some estimates for the size of hyperbolic Dehn surgery space of once-punctured torus bundles are given.  相似文献

We derive a curvature identity that holds on any 6-dimensional Riemannian manifold, from the Chern-Gauss-Bonnet theorem for a 6-dimensional closed Riemannian manifold. Moreover, some applications of the curvature identity are given. We also define a generalization of harmonic manifolds to study the Lichnerowicz conjecture for a harmonic manifold “a harmonic manifold is locally symmetric” and provide another proof of the Lichnerowicz conjecture refined by Ledger for the 4-dimensional case under a slightly more general setting.  相似文献

We prove that any compact manifold whose fundamental group contains an abelian normal subgroup of positive rank can be represented as a leaf of a structurally stable suspension foliation on a compact manifold. In this case, the role of a transversal manifold can be played by an arbitrary compact manifold. We construct examples of structurally stable foliations that have a compact leaf with infinite solvable fundamental group which is not nilpotent. We also distinguish a class of structurally stable foliations each of whose leaves is compact and locally stable in the sense of Ehresmann and Reeb.  相似文献

A new method is proposed to numerically integrate a dynamical system on a manifold such that the trajectory stably remains on the manifold and preserves the first integrals of the system. The idea is that given an initial point in the manifold we extend the dynamics from the manifold to its ambient Euclidean space and then modify the dynamics outside the intersection of the manifold and the level sets of the first integrals containing the initial point such that the intersection becomes a unique local attractor of the resultant dynamics. While the modified dynamics theoretically produces the same trajectory as the original dynamics, it yields a numerical trajectory that stably remains on the manifold and preserves the first integrals. The big merit of our method is that the modified dynamics can be integrated with any ordinary numerical integrator such as Euler or Runge–Kutta. We illustrate this method by applying it to three famous problems: the free rigid body, the Kepler problem and a perturbed Kepler problem with rotational symmetry. We also carry out simulation studies to demonstrate the excellence of our method and make comparisons with the standard projection method, a splitting method and Störmer–Verlet schemes.  相似文献

We investigate the existence of a true invariant manifold given an approximately invariant manifold for an infinite-dimensional dynamical system. We prove that if the given manifold is approximately invariant and approximately normally hyperbolic, then the dynamical system has a true invariant manifold nearby. We apply this result to reveal the global dynamics of boundary spike states for the generalized Allen–Cahn equation.  相似文献

We consider compact symplectic manifolds acted on effectively by a compact connected Lie group K in a Hamiltonian fashion. We prove that the squared moment map ∥μ∥2 is constant if and only if K is semisimple and the manifold is K-equivariantly symplectomorphic to a product of a flag manifold and a compact symplectic manifold which is acted on trivially by K. In the almost-Kähler setting the symplectomorphism turns out to be an isometry.  相似文献

This paper studies the geometric and topological properties of complete open Riemannian manifolds which support a weighted Sobolev or log-Sobolev inequality. We show that the constant in the weighted Sobolev inequality on a complete open Riemannian manifold should be bigger than or equal to the optimal one on the Euclidean space of the same dimension and that a complete open manifold of asymptotically non-negative Ricci curvature supporting a weighted Sobolev inequality must have large volume growth. We also show that a complete manifold of non-negative Ricci curvature on which the log-Sobolev inequality holds is not very far from the Euclidean space.  相似文献

We prove that, in some situations, an induced action from a normal subgroup preserves a geometric structure. Combined with known geometric rigidity results, this result implies certain rigidity statements concerning the full diffeomorphism group of a manifold. It also provides many examples of actions on Lorentz manifolds. Combining these with a small number of well-known actions, we get the full list of connected, simply connected Lie groups admitting a locally faithful, orbit nonproper action by isometries of a connected Lorentz manifold. We give an example of a connected nilpotent Lie group with no complicated action on a Lorentz manifold. We show that, if a connected Lie group has a normal closed subgroup isomorphic to a (two-dimensional) cylinder, then it admits a locally faithful, orbit nonproper action by isometries of a connected Lorentz manifold.  相似文献

We show that if all geodesics of two non-proportional metrics on a closed manifold coincide (as unparameterized curves), then the manifold has a finite fundamental group or admits a local-product structure. We show a geometric rigidity of isometric actions of non-compact (semisimple) Lie groups on Lorentz manifolds. Namely, we show that the manifold has a warped product structure of a Lorentz manifold with constant curvature by a Riemannian manifold.
