We report the method of the epitaxial growth of the core–shell ZnTe/ZnMgTe nanowires. The morphology and the crystal structure of several samples grown in different processes have been studied by scanning electron microscopy, high resolution transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction methods. It was shown that the ZnMgTe shell growth was clearly epitaxial with a good crystal quality. The average lattice spacing of the ZnTe cores and ZnMgTe shells have been calculated and Mg content in the shells has been estimated. It was documented that growing the shell lattice mismatched to the core induces the strain in the core. The model of the strain creation mechanism has been proposed. The presence of a shell with a larger energy gap than that of the core results in a strong emission in the spectral region near the band edge.  相似文献

Magnetic CoNi@Au core–shell nanorods have been electrochemically synthesized, characterized and functionalized to test their inherent cytotoxicity in order to assess their potential use for biomedical applications. The initially electrodeposited CoNi nanorods have been covered with a gold layer by means of galvanic displacement to minimize the nanowires toxicity and their aggregation, and favour the functionalization. The presence of a gold layer on the nanorod surface slightly modifies the magnetic behaviour of the as-deposited nanorods, maintaining their soft-magnetic behaviour and high magnetization of saturation. The complete covering of the nanorods with the gold shell favours a good functionalization with a layer of (11-Mercaptoundecyl)hexa(ethylene glycol) molecules, in order to create a hydrophilic coating to avoid the aggregation of nanorods, keeping them in suspension and give them stability in biological media. The presence of the organic layer incorporated was detected by means of electrochemical probe experiments. A cytotoxicity test of functionalized core–shell nanorods, carried out with adherent HeLa cells, showed that cell viability was higher than 80% for amounts of nanorods up to 10 μg mL 1. These results make functionalized nanorods promising vehicles for targeted drug delivery in medicine, which gives a complementary property to the magnetic nanoparticles.  相似文献

Oil-in-water (o/w) emulsions of styrene, as monomer oil in water, were achieved successfully via Pickering emulsification with laponite nanoparticles as the sole inorganic stabilizers. The formed emulsions showed excellent stability not only against droplets coalescence (before polymerization) but also against microparticles coagulation (after polymerization). Generally, the number of composite polystyrene microparticles (PS) increased and their sizes decreased with the content of solid nanoparticles used in stabilizing the precursor o/w emulsions. This is consistent with the formation of rigid layer(s) of the inorganic nanoparticles around the PS microparticles thus a better stability was achieved. The composite microparticles were characterized using various techniques such as surface charge, stability, transmission electron microscope (TEM), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Fourier transform infra-red (FT-IR). Coating films of the prepared latexes were applied to flat glass surfaces and showed reasonable adhesion compared to PS latex particles prepared with conventional surfactants. The effect of employed conditions on the features of the resulting emulsions in terms of stability and particle size has been discussed.  相似文献

Thermo-responsive polymeric micelles of poly (ethylene glycol)-b-poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate-g-lactide)-b-poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PEG-P(HEMA-PLA)-PNIPAM) with core–shell–corona structure were fabricated for applications in controlled drug release. The graft copolymer of PEG-P(HEMA-PLA)-PNIPAM was self-assembled into core–shell micelles with a densely PLA core and mixed PEG/PNIPAM shells at 25 °C in aqueous media. By increasing the temperature above the lower critical solution temperature of PNIPAM, these core–shell micelles could be converted into core–shell–corona micelles because of the collapse of PNIPAM block on the PLA core as the inner shell and the soluble PEG block stretching outside as the outer corona. Anticancer drug doxorubicin (DOX) was loaded in the polymeric micelles as a model drug. Compared with polymeric micelles formed by liner PEG-b-PLA-b-PNIPAM triblock copolymer, these polymeric micelles exhibited higher loading capacity, and release of DOX from the polymeric micelles with core–shell–corona structure was well-controlled.  相似文献

A preparation method for gadolinium compound (Gd) nanoparticles coated with silica (Gd/SiO2) is proposed. Gd nanoparticles were prepared with a homogeneous precipitation method at 80 °C using 1.0 × 10−3 M Gd(NO3)3 and 0.5 M urea in the presence of 1.0 g/L stabilizer. Among stabilizers examined. Sodium n-dodecyl sulfate (SDS) was suitable as the stabilizer for preparing small Gd nanoparticles, and consequently Gd nanoparticles with a size of 46.2 ± 12.4 nm were prepared using the SDS. Silica-coating of the Gd nanoparticles was performed by a St?ber method at room temperature using 0.013 M TEOS and 2.0 × 10−3 M NaOH in water/1-propanol solution in the presence of 1.0 × 10−3 M Gd nanoparticles, which resulted in production of Gd/SiO2 particles with an average size of 64.2 ± 14.4 nm. The Gd/SiO2 particles were surface-modified with 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane and succinic anhydride. It was confirmed by measurement of electrophretic light scattering that amino group or carboxyl group was introduced onto the Gd/SiO2 particles. The gadolinium concentration of 1.0 × 10−3 M in the as-prepared colloid solution was increased up to a gadolinium concentration of 0.4 M by centrifugation. The core–shell structure of Gd/SiO2 particles was undamaged, and the colloid solution was still colloidally stable, even after the concentrating process. The concentrated Gd/SiO2 colloid solution showed an X-ray image with contrast as high as a commercial Gd complex contrast agent. Internal organs in a mouse could be imaged injecting the concentrated colloid solution into it.  相似文献

Polystyrene/polypyrrole (PS/PPy) core–shell nanocomposite particles with uniform and tailored morphology have been successfully synthesized using the “naked” PS particulate substrate with the aid of a proposed strategy, the so-called swelling–diffusion–interfacial polymerization method. After initially forming pyrrole-swollen PS particles, diffusion of the monomer toward the aqueous phase was controlled through the addition of hydrochloric acid, eventually leading to its polymerization on the substrate particle surface. This process allows the nanocomposite particles to possess uniform and intact PPy overlayer and affords much more effective control over the structure and morphology of the resultant nanocomposites by simply changing the PS/pyrrole weight ratio or the addition amount of the doping acid. In particular, the nanocomposite particles with a thin, uniform, and intact PPy overlayer and their corresponding PPy hollow particles were obtained at a low addition amount of pyrrole. The resultant nanocomposite particles have been extensively characterized using scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and thermogravimetry.  相似文献

The nanoparticles composed of polystyrene core and poly[2-(diethylamino)ethyl methacrylate] (PDEA) hairy shell were used as colloidal templates for in situ silica mineralization, allowing the well-controlled synthesis of hybrid silica core–shell nanoparticles with raspberry-like morphology and hollow silica nanoparticles by subsequent calcination. Silica deposition was performed by simply stirring a mixture of the polymeric core–shell particles in isopropanol, tetramethyl orthosilicate (TMOS) and water at 25 °C for 2.5 h. No experimental evidence was found for nontemplated silica formation, which indicated that silica deposition occurred exclusively in the PDEA shell and formed PDEA–silica hybrid shell. The resulting hybrid silica core–shell particles were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), thermogravimetry, aqueous electrophoresis, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. TEM studies indicated that the hybrid particles have well-defined core–shell structure with raspberry morphology after silica deposition. We found that the surface nanostructure of hybrid nanoparticles and the composition distribution of PDEA–silica hybrid shell could be well controlled by adjusting the silicification conditions. These new hybrid core–shell nanoparticles and hollow silica nanoparticles would have potential applications for high-performance coatings, encapsulation and delivery of active organic molecules.  相似文献

Silica-metal core–shell particles, as for instance those having siliceous core and nanostructured gold shell, attracted a lot of attention because of their unique properties resulting from combination of mechanical and thermal stability of silica and magnetic, electric, optical and catalytic properties of metal nanocrystals such as gold, silver, platinum and palladium. Often, the shell of the core–shell particles consists of a large number of metal nanoparticles deposited on the surface of relatively large silica particles, which is the case considered in this work. Namely, silica particles having size of about 600 nm were subjected to surface modification with 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane. This modification altered the surface properties of silica particles, which was demonstrated by low pressure nitrogen adsorption at ?196 °C. Next, gold nanoparticles were deposited on the surface of aminopropyl-modified silica particles using two strategies: (i) direct deposition of gold nanoparticles having size of about 10 nm, and (ii) formation of gold nanoparticles by adsorption of tetrachloroauric acid on aminopropyl groups followed by its reduction with formaldehyde. The overall morphology of silica–gold particles and the distribution of gold nanoparticles on the surface of modified silica colloids were characterized by scanning electron microscopy. It was shown that direct deposition of colloidal gold on the surface of large silica particles gives more regular distribution of gold nanopartciles than that obtained by reduction of tetrachloroauric acid. In the latter case the gold layer consists of larger nanoparticles (size of about 50 nm) and is less regular. Note that both deposition strategies afforded silica–gold particles having siliceous cores covered with shells consisting of gold nanoparticles of tunable concentration.  相似文献

In cellulose fibre-based green packaging, the poor resistance or barrier against water or water vapour has remained as one of the key challenges. In this work, cationic polymer latex, butyl acrylate-co-styrene/2-ethylhexylacrylate-co-methyl methacrylate (BA-co-St/EHA-co-MMA), with core–shell structure was especially synthesized and used as a wet-end additive to render the fibre or paper hydrophobic. TEM observation confirmed that the latex particles obtained indeed possessed desired characteristic of core–shell structure. The experimental results showed that the cationic polymer was especially suitable for use in papermaking processes due to its high retention with cellulose fibres. The surface modification of the natural fibre by the adsorption of cationic latex on the fibre surfaces potentially created the thin films of polymers on fibre surfaces. The resulting paper is highly hydrophobic with improved barrier property, as demonstrated by the high contact angles and relatively low WVTR value. Moreover, the mechanical properties of paper were maintained or even improved in the presence of an appropriate level of the latex.  相似文献

The aim of our work is the synthesis and characterization of colloidal core–shell particles with a zeolite core and an environmentally responsive shell. We have synthesized colloidal ZSM-5 zeolite and modified the surface with 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate in order to introduce double bonds at the surface. The cross-linked polymeric shell was prepared by precipitation polymerization using the functionalized zeolite particles as seeds. We employed thermoresponsive poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) and pH-responsive poly(vinylpyridine) as the polymeric shell, respectively. The temperature- and pH-depending swelling and deswelling of the core–shell particles were characterized with dynamic light scattering techniques. Transmission electron microscopy pictures show the morphology of the synthesized particles. It is proposed that these types of bifunctional core–shell particles could be of use for controlled uptake and release applications and separation of molecules.  相似文献

Core–shell silica (SiO2) coated CdS nanorods (NR) and nanospheres (NS) were prepared (SiO2@CdS) by deposition of a Si–O–Si amorphous layer over the CdS surface through the hydrolysis of 3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane and tetraethylorthosilicate. Nanoporous SiO2 matrix (NPSM), hollow SiO2 nanotubes (HSNT) and nanospheres (HSNS) useful for efficient adsorption and catalytic processes were prepared by chemical dissolution of CdS–NS (size: 9–10 nm) and CdS–NR (length: 116–128 nm and width: 6–11 nm) template from SiO2@CdS with 2 M HNO3. These SiO2 nanostructures were characterized by optical absorption, TEM, EDX, SAED and BET surface area analysis. TEM images revealed the fabrication of slightly distorted HSNS (size: 9–12 nm) and closed HSNT (length: 30–45 nm and diameter: 9–14 nm) of shorter dimensions than the CdS–NR template used. The BET surface area (112–134 m2 g?1) of NPSM and HSNS is found to be larger than the surface area (29–51 m2 g?1) of SiO2@CdS composites indicating hollow SiO2 morphology. Silica coated Au (SiO2@Au) composites formed by CdS dissolution from Au (2 wt%) deposited CdS–NR core-encapsulated into SiO2 shell (SiO2@Au–CdS–NR) exhibited a surface plasmon band at 550 nm and displayed high catalytic activity for 4-nitrophenol reduction by Au nanoparticle.  相似文献

Here, we report a novel strategy to prepare fluorescent semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) of core–shell type with CdSe–CdS QDs as a model system. Our synthesis was carried out in liquid paraffin, which is a natural, nontoxic, and cheap solvent. We applied a single injection of precursor for the shell growth at low temperature and gradual heating of the reaction mixture after that. By this manner, the Ostwald ripening of the cores was reduced, homogenous nucleation of the shell material was avoided, and highly monodisperse in size core–shell QDs were prepared. Our synthesis method allows working on open air; it is relatively fast and allows fine control over the shell growth process. It leads to the formation of core–shell CdSe–CdS QDs with fluorescence quantum yield as high as 65%. We described the optical properties of core–shell QDs by the model of attenuated quantum confinement.  相似文献

Different amounts of Pt atoms were deposited onto the surface of Pd nanoparticles supported on carbon black by hydroquinone reduction method in anhydrous ethanol. Here, we surveyed electrochemical probing of surface compositions of Pd–Pt surface alloys. They were calculated from hydrogen desorption, carbon monoxide adlayer oxidation, and reduced carbon dioxide oxidation charges. The surface composition of Pt drastically increased up to Pt[0.3]/Pd/C (23.1 at.% of Pt) and then approached that of pure Pt with the moderate rate of increase.  相似文献

Submicron-sized cationic polystyrene shell particles with active ester groups were effectively self-assembled on hydrophobic surfaces of cross-linked polystyrene (PST) particles, uncharged core particles with ca. 8.5-µm diameter in aqueous systems. The hydrophobic interactions between the shell particles and core particles play a key role in heterocoagulation. The resulting heterocoagulates were highly physically stable in water, and the morphology was controlled by several factors including the solid content of latex, self-assembling time, and electrolyte concentration. Composite polymer particles with a core–shell structure were successfully obtained from the heterocoagulates by heat treatment for 3 h at a temperature above the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the cationic polymer shell particles.  相似文献

Thermal behavior of the TiO2 shell in the core–shell Ag@TiO2 system has been investigated by the time differential perturbed angular correlation (TDPAC), transmission electron microscope and X-ray diffraction measurements in the temperature range from 473 to 1073 K. Although the thickness of the TiO2 shell increases on annealing, the TDPAC results show that the anatase phase persists till 1073 K. This is in contrast with the results for the pure TiO2 nanoparticles. These observations suggest that the phase transformation from anatase to rutile is hindered in case of core–shell nanoparticles possibly because the growth of the shell thickness in case of Ag@TiO2 nanoparticles is not effective for rutile formation due to the presence of Ag-core.  相似文献

Stable emulsions of a core–shell acrylic copolymer (non-crosslinkable V0, and crosslinkable V2, V4, V6, and V8, where the numbers indicate the wt% of crosslinking agent based on the total acrylate monomer content) containing butyl acrylate (BA, 45 wt%), glycidyl methacrylate (GMA, 45 wt%), heptadecafluorodecyl methacrylate (PFA, 10 wt%), and various contents of crosslinking agent (vinyltriethoxysilane, VTES) were synthesized using a three-stage seeded emulsion polymerization process with a small amount of surfactant. The average particle size and viscosity of emulsions increased significantly with increasing VTES content. This study examined the effects of the VTES content on the surface/mechanical properties of self-crosslinked copolymer film samples containing a fixed acrylate monomer content to find the optimum VTES content. XPS showed that the film–air surface of the copolymer samples had a higher fluorine/silicone content than the film–dish interface. The tensile strength/modulus, thermal stability, and two Tgs (α and β Tgs) of the film samples increased significantly with increasing VTES content. The contact angle of the film samples increased with increasing VTES content up to approximately 6 wt%, and then decreased slightly. The optimum VTES content was approximately 6 wt% based on the total acrylate monomer content to obtain a high water/oil repellent coating material (V6) with the highest water/methylene iodide-contact angles (118.2°/81.8°) and lowest surface energy (18.4 mN/m).  相似文献
