Chang [C.-T. Chang, Multi-choice goal programming, Omega, The Inter. J. Manage. Sci. 35 (2007) 389–396] has recently proposed a new method namely multi-choice goal programming (MCGP) for multi-objective decision problems. The multi-choice goal programming allows the decision maker to set multi-choice aspiration levels for each goal to avoid underestimation of the decision. However, to express the multi-choice aspiration levels, multiplicative terms of binary variables are involved in their model. This leads to difficult implementation and it is not easily understood by industrial participants. In this paper, we propose an alternative method to formulate the multi-choice aspiration levels with two contributions: (1) the alternative approach does not involve multiplicative terms of binary variables, this leads to more efficient use of MCGP and is easily understood by industrial participants, and (2) the alternative approach represents a linear form of MCGP which can easily be solved by common linear programming packages, not requiring the use of integer programming packages. In addition, a new concept of constrained MCGP is introduced for constructing the relationships between goals in this paper. Finally, to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed method, an illustrate example is included.  相似文献

Goal programming (GP) has been, and still is, the most widely used technique for solving multiple-criteria decision problems and multiple-objective decision problems by finding a set of satisfying solutions. However, the major limitation of goal programming is that can only use aspiration levels with scalar value for solving multiple objective problems. In order to solve this problem multi-choice goal programming (MCGP) was proposed by Chang (2007a). Following the idea of MCGP this study proposes a new concept of level achieving in the utility functions to replace the aspiration level with scalar value in classical GP and MCGP for multiple objective problems. According to this idea, it is possible to use the skill of MCGP with utility functions to solve multi-objective problems. The major contribution of using the utility functions of MCGP is that they can be used as measuring instruments to help decision makers make the best/appropriate policy corresponding to their goals with the highest level of utility achieved. In addition, the above properties can improve the practical utility of MCGP in solving more real-world decision/management problems.  相似文献

Goal programming as a well known technique has been widely used for solving multi objective decision making problems. However, in some practical cases, there may exist situations where the decision maker is interested in setting multi aspiration levels for objectives that may not be expressed in a precise manner. In this paper, a novel formulation of fuzzy multi-choice goal programming (FMCGP) is presented. The proposed approach not only improves the applicability of goal programming in real world situations but also provides useful insight about the solution of a new class of problems. To illustrate and clarify the proposed approach, a numerical example is presented.  相似文献

In this paper, two new algorithms are presented to solve multi-level multi-objective linear programming (ML-MOLP) problems through the fuzzy goal programming (FGP) approach. The membership functions for the defined fuzzy goals of all objective functions at all levels are developed in the model formulation of the problem; so also are the membership functions for vectors of fuzzy goals of the decision variables, controlled by decision makers at the top levels. Then the fuzzy goal programming approach is used to achieve the highest degree of each of the membership goals by minimizing their deviational variables and thereby obtain the most satisfactory solution for all decision makers.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a supply chain network design problem with popup stores which can be opened for a few weeks or months before closing seasonally in a marketplace. The proposed model is multi-period and multi-stage with multi-choice goals under inventory management constraints and formulated by 0–1 mixed integer linear programming. The design tasks of the problem involve the choice of the popup stores to be opened and the distribution network design to satisfy the demand with three multi-choice goals. The first goal is minimization of the sum of transportation costs in all stages; the second is to minimization of set up costs of popup stores; and the third goal is minimization of inventory holding and backordering costs. Revised multi-choice goal programming approach is applied to solve this mixed integer linear programming model. Also, we provide a real-world industrial case to demonstrate how the proposed model works.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to propose a procedure for solving multilevel programming problems in a large hierarchical decentralized organization through linear fuzzy goal programming approach. Here, the tolerance membership functions for the fuzzily described objectives of all levels as well as the control vectors of the higher level decision makers are defined by determining individual optimal solution of each of the level decision makers. Since the objectives are potentially conflicting in nature, a possible relaxation of the higher level decision is considered for avoiding decision deadlock. Then fuzzy goal programming approach is used for achieving highest degree of each of the membership goals by minimizing negative deviational variables. Sensitivity analysis with variation of tolerance values on decision vectors is performed to present how the solution is sensitive to the change of tolerance values. The efficiency of our concept is ascertained by comparing results with other fuzzy programming approaches.  相似文献

The multi-choice goal programming allows the decision maker to set multi-choice aspiration levels for each goal to avoid underestimation of the decision. In this paper, we propose an alternative multi-choice goal programming formulation based on the conic scalarizing function with three contributions: (1) the alternative formulation allows the decision maker to set multi-choice aspiration levels for each goal to obtain an efficient solution in the global region, (2) the proposed formulation reduces auxiliary constraints and additional variables, and (3) the proposed model guarantees to obtain a properly efficient (in the sense of Benson) point. Finally, to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed formulation, illustrative examples and test problems are included.  相似文献

Over the last decade, there has been increased attention to closed-loop logistics networks. Environmental legislation requires companies to be more responsible by collecting used products from customers. Companies can also benefit from savings that are related to recovering and recycling used products. Unlike previous studies, which only consider single products or a single period of time in multi-objective problems, this paper considers a multi-product multi-period closed-loop logistics network with different types of facilities. A?multi-objective mixed-integer nonlinear programming formulation is developed to minimize the total cost, the delivery time of new products, and the collection time of used products. Thus, this model better approximates real-life applications of closed-loop logistics problems. Interactive fuzzy goal programming (IFGP) is applied to solve the model for handling multiple objective problems with conflicting objectives and to address the imprecise nature of decision-makers?? aspiration levels for goals. The results from computational experiments performed here show that by changing the upper or lower bound of each objective function, one can obtain a better final solution of the problem and also can provide more options for decision makers to choose from based on their situation. Finally, the utilization rate of facilities is shown to be an important indicator when designing a logistics network.  相似文献

Goal programming is an important technique for solving many decision/management problems. Fuzzy goal programming involves applying the fuzzy set theory to goal programming, thus allowing the model to take into account the vague aspirations of a decision-maker. Using preference-based membership functions, we can define the fuzzy problem through natural language terms or vague phenomena. In fact, decision-making involves the achievement of fuzzy goals, some of them are met and some not because these goals are subject to the function of environment/resource constraints. Thus, binary fuzzy goal programming is employed where the problem cannot be solved by conventional goal programming approaches. This paper proposes a new idea of how to program the binary fuzzy goal programming model. The binary fuzzy goal programming model can then be solved using the integer programming method. Finally, an illustrative example is included to demonstrate the correctness and usefulness of the proposed model.  相似文献

In goal programming problem, the general equilibrium and optimization are often two conflicting factors. This paper proposes a generalized varying-domain optimization method for fuzzy goal programming (FGP) incorporating multiple priorities. According to the three possible styles of the objective function, the varying-domain optimization method and its generalization are proposed. This method can generate the results consistent with the decision-maker (DM)’s expectation, that the goal with higher priority may have higher level of satisfaction. Using this new method, it is a simple process to balance between the equilibrium and optimization, and the result is the consequence of a synthetic decision between them. In contrast to the previous method, the proposed method can make that the higher priority achieving the higher satisfactory degree. To get the global solution of the nonlinear nonconvex programming problem resulting from the original problem and the varying-domain optimization method, the co-evolutionary genetic algorithms (GAs), called GENOCOPIII, is used instead of the SQP method. In this way the DM can get the optimum of the optimization problem. We demonstrate the power of this proposed method by illustrative examples.  相似文献

This paper describes the use of preemptive priority based fuzzy goal programming method to fuzzy multiobjective fractional decision making problems under the framework of multistage dynamic programming. In the proposed approach, the membership functions for the defined objective goals with fuzzy aspiration levels are determined first without linearizing the fractional objectives which may have linear or nonlinear forms. Then the problem is solved recursively for achievement of the highest membership value (unity) by using priority based goal programming methodology at each decision stages and thereby identifying the optimal decision in the present decision making arena. Two most widely used approaches to treating goals of different importance in goal programming (GP) are: (1) weighted GP, where importance of goals is modelled using weights, and (2) preemptive priority GP, where a goal hierarchy is specified implying infinite trade-offs among goals placed in different levels of importance. These approaches may be too restrictive in modelling of real life decision making problems. In this paper, a novel fuzzy goal programming method is proposed, where the hierarchical levels of the goals are imprecisely defined. The imprecise importance relations among the goals are modelled using fuzzy relations. An additive achievement function is defined, which takes into consideration both achievement degrees of the goals and degrees of satisfaction of the fuzzy importance relations. Studies show that most actively managed mutual funds struggle to beat the market, driving an increase in the popularity of index investing. Index investing instruments, including index funds and Exchange-traded Funds, aim to track market performance. This study pursues both tracking error minimization and excess return maximization, two conflicting objectives, to construct an index portfolio. In the real-world financial environment, the desires and expectations of decision makers are generally imprecise. This study applies fuzzy theory to deal with imprecise objectives. This study represents minimizing tracking error and maximizing excess return as ‘fuzzy goals’ to improve traditional goal programming, which is suitable for handling multiple conflicting objectives, but subject to establishing crisp goals. Three fuzzy goal programming (FGP) models that track indexes are compared and discussed, and the results show that through certain membership functions and tracking models, an index tracking portfolio with a tracking error lower than the 0050 index fund, and a similar excess return to 0050 index fund can be constructed using additive type FGP. max-min type FGP underperforms the additive type FGP in index fund construction.  相似文献

This paper considers Stackelberg solutions for two-level linear programming problems under fuzzy random environments. To deal with the formulated fuzzy random two-level linear programming problem, an α-stochastic two-level linear programming problem is defined through the introduction of α-level sets of fuzzy random variables. Taking into account vagueness of judgments of decision makers, fuzzy goals are introduced and the α-stochastic two-level linear programming problem is transformed into the problem to maximize the satisfaction degree for each fuzzy goal. Through fractile criterion optimization in stochastic programming, the transformed stochastic two-level programming problem can be reduced to a deterministic two-level programming problem. An extended concept of Stackelberg solution is introduced and a numerical example is provided to illustrate the proposed method.  相似文献

Goal programming is a technique often used in engineering design activities primarily to find a compromised solution which will simultaneously satisfy a number of design goals. In solving goal programming problems, classical methods reduce the multiple goal-attainment problem into a single objective of minimizing a weighted sum of deviations from goals. This procedure has a number of known difficulties. First, the obtained solution to the goal programming problem is sensitive to the chosen weight vector. Second, the conversion to a single-objective optimization problem involves additional constraints. Third, since most real-world goal programming problems involve nonlinear criterion functions, the resulting single-objective optimization problem becomes a nonlinear programming problem, which is difficult to solve using classical optimization methods. In tackling nonlinear goal programming problems, although successive linearization techniques have been suggested, they are found to be sensitive to the chosen starting solution. In this paper, we pose the goal programming problem as a multi-objective optimization problem of minimizing deviations from individual goals and then suggest an evolutionary optimization algorithm to find multiple Pareto-optimal solutions of the resulting multi-objective optimization problem. The proposed approach alleviates all the above difficulties. It does not need any weight vector. It eliminates the need of having extra constraints needed with the classical formulations. The proposed approach is also suitable for solving goal programming problems having nonlinear criterion functions and having a non-convex trade-off region. The efficacy of the proposed approach is demonstrated by solving a number of nonlinear goal programming test problems and an engineering design problem. In all problems, multiple solutions (each corresponding to a different weight vector) to the goal programming problem are found in one single simulation run. The results suggest that the proposed approach is an effective and practical tool for solving real-world goal programming problems.  相似文献

In this paper we propose an interactive fuzzy programming method for obtaining a satisfactory solution to a “bi-level quadratic fractional programming problem” with two decision makers (DMs) interacting with their optimal solutions. After determining the fuzzy goals of the DMs at both levels, a satisfactory solution is efficiently derived by updating the satisfactory level of the DM at the upper level with consideration of overall satisfactory balance between both levels. Optimal solutions to the formulated programming problems are obtained by combined use of some of the proper methods. Theoretical results are illustrated with the help of a numerical example.  相似文献

In this paper a multi-criteria group decision making model is presented in which there is a heterogeneity among the decision makers due to their different expertise and/or their different level of political control. The relative importance of the decision makers in the group is handled in a soft manner using fuzzy relations. We suppose that each decision maker has his/her preferred solution, obtained by applying any of the techniques of distance-based multi-objective programming [compromise, goal programming (GP), goal programming with fuzzy hierarchy, etc.]. These solutions are used as aspiration levels in a group GP model in which the differences between the unwanted deviations are interpreted in terms of the degree of achievement of the relative importance amongst the group members. In this way, a group GP model with fuzzy hierarchy (Group-GPFH) is constructed. The solution for this model is proposed as a collective decision. To show the applicability of our proposal, a regional forest planning problem is addressed. The objective is to determine tree species composition in order to improve the values achieved by Pan-European indicators for sustainable forest management. This problem involves stakeholders with competing interests and different preference schemes for the aforementioned indicators. The application of our proposal to this problem allows us to be able to comfortably address all these issues. The results obtained are consistent with the preferences of each stakeholder and their hierarchy within the group.  相似文献

This paper proposes a new approach to formulating fuzzy priorities in a goal programming problem. The proposed methodology remedies certain shortcomings of the composite membership function approach discussed in previous works [7, 10]. The principal advantage of the proposed method is that it leads to a formulation in which tradeoffs between goals more closely reflect the decision maker's intentions than in other noninteractive approaches [8, 9, 10, 14], in some of which a fixed hierarchy of goals is assumed.  相似文献

Narasimhan incorporated fuzzy set theory within goal programming formulation in 1980. Since then numerous research has been carried out in this field. One of the well-known models for solving fuzzy goal programming problems was proposed by Hannan in 1981. In this paper the conventional MINMAX approach in goal programming is applied to solve fuzzy goal programming problems. It is proved that the proposed model is an extension to Hannan model that deals with unbalanced triangular linear membership functions. In addition, it is shown that the new model is equivalent to a model proposed in 1991 by Yang et al. Moreover, a weighted model of the new approach is introduced and is compared with Kim and Whang’s model presented in 1998. A numerical example is given to demonstrate the validity and strengths of the new models.  相似文献

Several fuzzy approaches can be considered for solving multiobjective transportation problem. This paper presents a fuzzy goal programming approach to determine an optimal compromise solution for the multiobjective transportation problem. We assume that each objective function has a fuzzy goal. Also we assign a special type of nonlinear (hyperbolic) membership function to each objective function to describe each fuzzy goal. The approach focuses on minimizing the negative deviation variables from 1 to obtain a compromise solution of the multiobjective transportation problem. We show that the proposed method and the fuzzy programming method are equivalent. In addition, the proposed approach can be applied to solve other multiobjective mathematical programming problems. A numerical example is given to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed approach.  相似文献
