Polyaniline/multiwalled carbon nanotube (PANI/MWNT) composites were prepared by in situ polymerization. Scanning electron microscope, X‐ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared, Uv‐Visible spectroscopy, Fluorescence spectrophotometry were done to characterize the PANI/MWNT composites. Thermal stability was measured by thermogravimetry analysis. The thermal stability of PANI/MWNT composites becomes higher than PANI. Electrical transport properties of different PANI/MWNT composites were investigated in the temperature range 77 ≤ T ≤ 300 K with and without magnetic field up to 1 T. The dc resistivity of PANI/MWNT composites shows different behavior compared to the sample without MWNT. The room temperature dc magnetoconductivity of the samples is negative; however, its sign changes to positive by lowering the temperature, which has been explained by hopping type charge transport. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The electrical and structural properties of poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(4‐styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) thin films deposited from aqueous dispersion using different concentrations of selected secondary dopants are studied in detail. An improvement of the electrical conductivity by three orders of magnitude is achieved for dimethyl sulfoxide, sorbitol, ethylene glycol, and N,N‐dimethylformamide, and the secondary dopant concentration dependence of the conductivity exhibits almost identical behavior for all investigated secondary dopants. Detailed analysis of the surface morphology and Raman spectra reveals no presence of the secondary dopant in fabricated films, and thus the dopants are truly causing the secondary doping effect. Although the ratio of benzenoid and quinoid vibrations in Raman spectra is unaffected by doping, the phase transition in PEDOT:PSS films owing to doping is confirmed. Further analysis of temperature‐dependent conductivity reveals 1D variable range hopping (VRH) charge transport for undoped PEDOT:PSS, whereas highly conductive doped PEDOT:PSS films exhibit 3D VRH charge transport. We demonstrate that the charge ‐ hopping dimensionality change should be a fundamental reason for the conductivity enhancement. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part B: Polym. The morphological structure of poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT) thin films deposited by both Matrix Assisted Pulsed Laser Evaporation (MAPLE) and solution spin‐casting methods are investigated. The MAPLE samples possessed a higher degree of disorder, with random orientations of polymer crystallites along the side‐chain stacking, π–π stacking, and conjugated backbone directions. Moreover, the average molecular orientations and relative degrees of crystallinity of MAPLE‐deposited polymer films are insensitive to the chemistries of the substrates onto which they were deposited; this is in stark contrast to the films prepared by the conventional spin‐casting technique. Despite the seemingly unfavorable molecular orientations and the highly disordered morphologies, the in‐plane charge carrier transport characteristics of the MAPLE samples are comparable to those of spin‐cast samples, exhibiting similar transport activation energies (56 vs. 54 meV) to those reported in the literature for high mobility polymers. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The polyaniline dispersions stabilized with poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) (PANI/PVP) were synthesized by oxidative polymerization with different mass ratios of PANI and PVP and different molar concentrations of the components in the polymerization mixture. The composite powders prepared from colloidal PANI/PVP dispersions were characterized by thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis. The change in the ratio of PANI and PVP as well as the starting molar concentrations of aniline hydrochloride and oxidant has influence on the resulting properties of the dispersions. Concerning the doping, the results show that PANI/PVP powders are stable up to approximately 160 °C. Degradation of polymer chains starts at temperatures above 250 °C. The PANI/PVP composite powders with lower content of PANI exhibit slightly higher thermal stability. Further, colloidal PANI/PVP dispersions were screen-printed on aluminum foil for infrared spectroscopic characterization and on poly(ethylene terephthalate) foil for electrical measurements. The sheet resistance of printed layers measured by two-point probe was of the order of tens to thousands of kΩ sq?1. The influence of both the change in the composition and the drying temperature is discussed.  相似文献

Low‐operating voltage, high mobility, and stable organic field‐effect transistors (OFETs) using polymeric dielectrics such as pristine poly(4‐vinyl phenol) (PVP) and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), dissolved in solvents of high dipole moment, have been achieved. High dipole moment solvents such as propylene carbonate and dimethyl sulfoxide used for dissolving the polymer dielectric enhance the charge carrier mobilities by three orders of magnitude in pentacene OFETs compared with low dipole moment solvents. Fast switching circuits with patterned gate PVP‐based pentacene OFETs demonstrated a switching frequency of 75 kHz at input voltages of |5 V|. The frequency response of the OFETs is attributed to a high degree of dipolar‐order in dielectric films obtained from high‐polarity solvents and the resulting energetically ordered landscape for transport. Remarkably, these pentacene‐based OFETs exhibited high stability under bias stress and in air with negligible shifts in the threshold voltage. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. As an alternative method for processing polyaniline (PANI) from its conducting (protonated) state, vacuum casting of PANI from a methanesulfonic acid (MSA) solution provided films with electrical conductivity values of about 130–150 S/cm. In addition, we similarly prepared blended films of PANI · MSA and poly(p‐phenylene benzobisthiazole) (PBZT). This process eliminated the need for a subsequent protonation step and had the additional advantage that the conjugated PBZT may provide alternative conducting pathways. Conductivity values of the composite films ranged from 100 pS/cm to 124 S/cm, and the films displayed critical concentration behavior with a PANI threshold concentration of 2.75% and a critical exponent of 4. Transmission electron micrographs displayed phase‐separated regions with PANI forming a continuous network at high concentrations. Thermogravimetric analysis results demonstrated the thermal and thermooxidative stability advantage of the blends due to the PBZT component. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A multiple charge‐transfer second‐order nonlinear optical (NLO) chromophore 2,3‐bis(4‐aminophenyl)‐5,6‐dicyanopyrazine (BAPDCP) was successfully designed and synthesized. It was characterized by 1H NMR, mass spectrometry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. The first hyperpolarizability β of BAPDCP was measured with the Hyper–Rayleigh scattering technique, which was 123.5 × 10?30 esu. The donor‐embedded prepolyimide and prepolyurea were also synthesized by a polyaddition reaction. Thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry demonstrated that either the chromophore or the polymers have fine thermal stability. The thin films of prepolymers were prepared by coating on ITO glass substrate and poled by corona poling at elevating temperature. The second‐order NLO coefficients d33 of the films were measured by in situ second‐harmonic generation measurements. The d33 were deduced as 27.7 and 16.5 pm/V for polyurea and polyimide at 1064 nm fundamental wavelength, respectively. The onset depoling temperature of the polyimide and polyurea were both as high as 200 °C. To understand the temperature effect to the orientation thermal stability of polyimide, two films were treated at different final poling temperatures. The depoling experimental results showed that the orientation stability is higher, as raising the final treated temperature but the d33 value are almost similar. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Redox‐active 6‐oxoverdazyl polymers were synthesized via ring‐opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) and their solution, bulk, and thin‐film properties investigated. Detailed studies of the ROMP method employed confirmed that stable radical polymers with controlled molecular weights and narrow molecular weight distributions (Ð < 1.2) were produced. Thermal gravimetric analysis of a representative example of the title polymers demonstrated stability up to 190 °C, while differential scanning calorimetry studies revealed a glass transition temperature of 152 °C. Comparison of the spectra of 6‐oxoverdazyl monomer 12 and polymer 13 , including FT‐IR, UV‐vis absorption, and electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy, was used to confirm the tolerance of the ROMP mechanism for the 6‐oxoverdazyl radical both qualitatively and quantitatively. Cyclic voltammetry studies demonstrated the ambipolar redox properties of polymer 13 (E1/2,ox = 0.25 and E1/2,red = ?1.35 V relative to ferrocene/ferrocenium), which were consistent with those of monomer 12 . The charge transport properties of thin films of polymer 13 were studied before and after a potential of 5 V was applied, revealing a drastic drop in the resistivity from 106?1010 Ω m or more to 1.7 × 104 Ω m and suggesting the potential usefulness of polymer 13 in bistable electronics. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A facile method of producing stable aqueous dispersion of graphene/polyaniline (PANI) composite is described, which involves the in situ polymerization of aniline on the surface of graphene with the aid of polystyrene sulfonic acid (PSS). The prepared aqueous graphene/PANI composite dispersion was very stable and no aggregation or precipitation was observed for several weeks. The excellent aqueous dispersibility and stability of the graphene/PANI composite is attributed to the cooperative interactions of π stacking interaction between PSS, PANI, and the graphene basal planes, and the electrostatic repulsions between negatively charged PSS bound on graphene/PANI composite. Fourier transform‐infrared spectrometry (FTIR), ultraviolet‐visible spectra (UV–vis), and Raman spectra confirmed the interaction of PANI and graphene in the composite, which effectively delocalize the electrons. In addition, the composite showed three orders of magnitude of conductivity increase compared with pure PANI. This new approach is simple, fast, and straightforward, representing a significant improvement in the processing of graphene/PANI composites. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. I n this study, we successfully synthesized water/methanol soluble random copolymers with a high dielectric constant, poly(n‐(hydroxymethyl) acrylamide‐co‐5‐(9‐(5‐(diethylamino)pentyl)?2‐(4‐vinylphenyl)?9H‐fluorene(P(NMA‐co‐F6NSt)), which contained chemical crosslinkable segment (NMA) and hole trapping building block (F6NSt). The feeding molar ratios of two monomers (NMA:F6NSt) were set as 100:0, 95:5, 80:20, and 67:33 for the copolymers of P1 , P2 , P3, and P4 , respectively. The crosslinked P(NMA‐co‐F6NSt) thin film could serve as both dielectric and charge storage layers in organic field‐effect transistor (OFET) memory device and exhibited high k (i.e., 4.91–6.47) characteristics, leading to a low voltage operation and a small power consumption. Devices based on the P1 ‐ P4 dielectrics showed excellent insulating properties and good charge storage performance under a low operating voltage in a range of ±5V because of tightly network structures and well‐dispersed trapping cites. In particular, P3 ‐based memory device exhibited a large memory window of 4.13 V with stable data retention stability over 104 s, a large on/off ratio of 104, and good endurance characteristics as high as 200 cycles. The above results suggested that a high‐performance OFET memory device could be facilely achieved using the novel crosslinkable high‐k copolymers. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Two ester derivatives featuring anthraquinone as an interior core and terminal electroactive triphenylamine or carbazole groups were prepared by the condensation of 2,6‐dihydroxyanthraquinone with 4‐(diphenylamino)benzoyl chloride and 4‐(9H‐carbazol‐9‐yl)benzoyl chloride, respectively. The electrochemistry and electropolymerization of these monomers were investigated. The polymeric films were built onto ITO/glass surface by repetitive cyclic voltammetry scanning of the monomer solutions containing an electrolyte. The electrogenerated polymer films exhibited reversible electrochemical processes and strong color changes upon electro‐oxidation or electro‐reduction, which can be switched by potential modulation. The remarkable electrochromic behavior of the film was clearly interpreted on the basis of spectroelectrochemical studies, and the electrochromic stability was evaluated by the electrochromic switching studies. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Functional fillers in multilayered films provide opportunity in tailoring the mechanical properties through chemical cross‐linking. In this study, Laponite‐graphene oxide co‐dispersion was used to incorporate graphene oxide (GO) easily into polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/Laponite layer‐by‐layer (LBL) films. The LBL films were found to be uniform and the layer thickness increased linearly with number of depositions. The process was extended to a large number of depositions to investigate the macroscopic mechanical properties of the free‐standing films. The LBL films showed remarkable improvements in mechanical properties as compared to neat PVA film. The GO‐incorporated LBL films displayed higher enhancements in the tensile strength, ductility, and toughness as compared to that of PVA/Laponite LBL films, upon chemical cross‐linking. This suggests the advantageous effects of GO incorporation. Interestingly, cross‐linking of LBL films for longer time period (>1 h) and higher temperature (~80 °C) was not found to be much beneficial. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. In general, the high electrical conductivity (EC) comes into conflict with the good flexibility and high strength of carbon nanotube (CNT)/polyaniline (PANI) composites. In other words, a high CNT content will bring about a high EC but lead to a low flexibility and strength due to the CNT‐constrained matrix deformation and CNT aggregation. In this work, a highly conductive, flexible and strong CNT/PANI composite film prepared via a facile solvent‐evaporation method is readily obtained by a cold stretching. The cold stretching is conducted at room temperature for the CNT/PANI film. It is observed that the cold stretching process leads to an unexpectedly enhanced EC. The as‐obtained EC of 231 S/cm is much higher than that (2 – 50 S/cm) of the previously reported CNT/PANI composite films. Meanwhile, the strength is obviously improved over that of the pure PANI film and the good flexibility is maintained to a high degree by the introduction of a proper CNT content. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A model for simulating the charge transport properties of semicrystalline polymer (SCrP) using Monte Carlo simulation is reinvented. The model is validated by reproducing the experimentally observed field and temperature dependence of mobility in Poly(3‐hexylthiophene‐2,5‐diyl) (P3HT) thin films. This study also provides a new physical insight to the origin of much debated negative field dependence of mobility (NFDM) observed at low electric field strengths in P3HT thin films. The observed NFDM, which is not explainable with the mechanisms proposed earlier, is attributed to the weak dependence of transit time on the applied electric field strengths. In the semicrystalline films, the charge transport takes place mostly through the crystalline regions, in which the charge transport is weakly dependent on the strength of the applied electric field. In addition, a possible explanation for the origin of Arrhenius temperature dependence of mobility (lnμ ∝ 1/T) commonly observed in SCrP thin films is also proposed. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs)/polyaniline (PANI) composite films with enhanced thermoelectric properties were prepared by combining in situ polymerization and solution processing. Conductive atomic force microscopy and X‐ray diffraction measurements confirmed that solution processing and strong π–π interactions between the PANI and SWNTs induced the PANI molecules to form a highly ordered structure. The improved degree of order of the PANI molecular arrangement increased the carrier mobility and thereby enhanced the electrical transport properties of PANI. The maximum in‐plane electrical conductivity and power factor of the SWNTs/PANI composite films reached 1.44×103 S cm?1 and 217 μW m?1 K?2, respectively, at room temperature. Furthermore, a thermoelectric generator fabricated with the SWNTs/PANI composite films showed good electric generation ability and stability. A high power density of 10.4 μW cm?2 K?1 was obtained, which is superior to most reported results obtained in organic thermoelectric modules.  相似文献

A series of polyimides containing ether and ketone moieties were synthesized from 1,3‐bis(4‐fluorobenzoyl) benzene and several commercially available dianhydrides via a conventional two‐step polymerization. The inherent viscosities of Polyamide acids ranged from 0.46 to 0.73 dL/g. Thermal properties, mechanical properties, and thermalplasticity of the obtained polimide films were investigated by focusing on the chemical structures of their repeat units. These films were amorphous, flexible, and transparent. All films displayed low Tgs (184–225 °C) but also excellent thermal stability, the 5% weight loss temperature was up to 542 °C under nitrogen. The films showed outstanding mechanical properties with the modulus up to 3.0 GPa and the elongation at break in the range of 8–160%. The uniaxial stretching of PI‐a at high temperature was studied owing to its excellent flexibility. The PI‐a had an elongation at break up to 1600% at 245 °C and the uniaxially stretched film exhibited a much higher modulus (3.9 GPa) and strength (240 MPa) than undrawn film. The results indicated that PI‐a can potentially be used to prepare materials such as fiber, ultra‐thin film or ultra‐high modulus film. All the obtained films also demonstrated excellent thermoplasticity (drop of E′ at Tg > 103) which made the polyimides more suitable for melt processing. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Thermally induced changes in surface wettability, dewetting behavior, and proton transport of “self‐assembled” nanothin Nafion® films (4–300 nm) on SiO2 substrate is reported. Thermal annealing induces switching of the surface wettability of 55 nm and thinner films from hydrophilic to super‐hydrophobic. Thickness dependence of this behavior is observed with higher annealing temperature required for lower thickness films, indicating highly restrictive mobility of Nafion® ionomer as film thickness decreases. Dewetting is only observed for 4‐nm thin film. Significant suppression in proton conductivity upon thermal annealing was noted. Similarly, two other bulk properties, water uptake and swelling, were found to decrease upon annealing. This work reports a systematic examination of the thickness dependence of thermally induced changes in both surface and bulk properties of ultra‐thin Nafion®. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Direct deposition of high quality ferroelectric PVDF thin films using a modulated temperature spin coating method is demonstrated. The method is qualitatively guided from Flory‐Huggins theory of polymeric solutions and is general in applicability. Ferroelectric PVDF films with similar high structural and dielectric quality are deposited in environments ranging from 20 to 80% relative humidity on polar and non‐polar surfaces. The films do not show the presence of the non‐ferroelectric α‐phase. Resultant films have rms roughness values lower than 16 nm and remnant polarizations up to 6.5 µC cm?2. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part B: Polym. Organic semiconductors (OSCs) are strong contenders for use in printed, flexible electronics. Although organic electronic materials have been studied for many years, the physics of charge transport is still under investigation. This is in part due to variability resulting from the large variety of molecules that can be synthesized and inconsistency in electrical characterization due to device and processing conditions. Molecular ordering in OSCs is known to alter the charge transport characteristics and attention to long range and short range ordering provides clues as to the nature of transport pathways. Here, we study ordered regioregular poly(3‐hexylthiophene‐2,5‐diyl) films carefully prepared to obtain a set of three samples with incrementally increasing order on identical transistor architectures. Ordering was characterized using a variety of short and long range techniques to probe the coherence and number of crystallites formed during processing, and the correlation between these different measures of order are quantified. We observe three changes in transistor behavior that show a shift from non‐ideal to more textbook‐like characteristics with increasing order: reduction of the contact resistance, shift to field‐independent mobility, and a shift from a diode‐like (S‐shaped) to linear response at low lateral fields. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of near‐infrared (NIR) electrochromic aromatic poly(aryl ether)s containing N,N,N′,N′‐tetraphenyl‐p‐phenylenediamine (TPPA) moieties in the backbone were prepared from the high‐temperature polycondensation reactions of a biphenol monomer, 2,5‐bis(diphenylamino)hydroquinone, with difluoro compounds. The obtained polymers were readily soluble in many organic solvents and showed useful levels of thermal stability associated with high glass‐transition temperatures (182–205 °C) and high char yields (higher than 40% at 800 °C in nitrogen). The polymer films showed reversible electrochemical oxidation with high contrast ratio both in the visible range and NIR region, and also exhibited high coloration efficiency (CE), low switching time, and stability for electrochromic operation. The polyether TPPA‐a thin film revealed good CE in visible (CE = 217 cm2/C) and NIR (CE = 192 cm2/C) region with reversible electroactive stability (over 500 times within 5% loss relative to its initial injected charge). © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
