An efficient introduction of vinyl group into poly (ethylene‐co‐styrene) or poly(ethylene‐co?1‐hexene) has been achieved by the incorporation of 3,3′‐divinylbiphenyl (DVBP) in terpolymerization of ethylene, styrene, or 1‐hexene with DVBP using aryloxo‐modified half‐titanocenes, Cp′TiCl2(O?2,6‐iPr2C6H3) [Cp′ = Cp*, tBuC5H4, 1,2,4‐Me3C5H2], in the presence of MAO cocatalyst, affording high‐molecular‐weight polymers with unimodal distributions. Efficient comonomer incorporations have been achieved by these catalysts, and the content of each comonomer could be varied by its initial concentration charged. The postpolymerization of styrene was initiated from the vinyl group remained in the side chain by treatment with n‐BuLi. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Ethylene/styrene copolymerizations using Cp′TiCl2(O‐2,6‐iPr2C6H3) [Cp′ = Cp* (C5Me5, 1 ), 1,2,4‐Me3C5H2 ( 2 ), tert‐BuC5H4 ( 3 )]‐MAO catalyst systems were explored under various conditions. Complexes 2 and 3 exhibited both high catalytic activities (activity: 504–6810 kg‐polymer/mol‐Ti h) and efficient styrene incorporations at 25, 40°C (ethylene 6 atm), affording relatively high molecular weight poly (ethylene‐co‐styrene)s with unimodal molecular weight distributions as well as with uniform styrene distributions (Mw = 6.12–13.6 × 104, Mw/Mn = 1.50–1.71, styrene 31.7–51.9 mol %). By‐productions of syndiotactic polystyrene (SPS) were observed, when the copolymerizations by 1 – 3 ‐MAO catalyst systems were performed at 55, 70 °C (ethylene 6 atm, SPS 9.0–68.9 wt %); the ratios of the copolymer/SPS were affected by the polymerization temperature, the [styrene]/[ethylene] feed molar ratios in the reaction mixture, and by both the cyclopentadienyl fragment (Cp′) and anionic ancillary donor ligand (L) in Cp′TiCl2(L) (L = Cl, O‐2,6‐iPr2C6H3 or N=CtBu2) employed. Co‐presence of the catalytically‐active species for both the copolymerization and the homopolymerization was thus suggested even in the presence of ethylene; the ratios were influenced by various factors (catalyst precursors, temperature, styrene/ethylene feed molar ratio, etc.). © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Aryloxo‐modified half‐titanocenes, Cp′TiCl2(O‐2,6‐iPr2C6H3) [Cp′ = Cp* ( 1 ), tBuC5H4 ( 2 )], catalyze terpolymerization of ethylene and styrene with α‐olefin (1‐hexene and 1‐decene) efficiently in the presence of cocatalyst, affording high‐molecular‐weight polymers with unimodal distributions (compositions). Efficient comonomer incorporations have been achieved by these catalysts. The content of each comonomer (α‐olefin, styrene, etc.) could be controlled by varying the comonomer concentration charged, and resonances ascribed to styrene and α‐olefin repeated insertion were negligible. The terpolymerization with p‐methylstyrene (p‐MS) in place of styrene also proceeded in the presence of [PhN(H)Me2][B(C6F5)4] and AliBu3 cocatalyst, and p‐MS was incorporated in an efficient matter, affording high‐molecular‐weight polymers with uniform molecular weight distributions. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Ethylene copolymerizations with norbornene (NBE) using half‐titanocenes containing imidazolin‐2‐iminato ligands, Cp′TiCl2[1,3‐R2(CHN)2C?N] [Cp′ = Cp ( 1 ), tBuC5H4 ( 2 ); R = tBu ( a ), 2,6‐iPr2C6H3 ( b )], have been explored in the presence of methylaluminoxane (MAO) cocatalyst. Complex 1a exhibited remarkable catalytic activity with better NBE incorporation, affording high‐molecular‐weight copolymers with uniform molecular weight distributions, whereas the tert‐BuC5H4 analog ( 2a ) showed low activity, and the resultant polymer prepared by the Cp‐2,6‐diisopropylphenyl analog ( 1b ) possessed broad molecular weight distribution. The microstructure analysis of the poly(ethylene‐co‐NBE)s prepared by 1a suggests the formation of random copolymers including two and three NBE repeating units. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. A series of imino‐indolate half‐titanocene chlorides, Cp′Ti(L)Cl2 ( C1 – C7 : Cp′ = C5H5, MeC5H4, C5Me5, L = imino‐indolate ligand), were synthesized by the reaction of Cp′TiCl3 with sodium imino‐indolates. All complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. Moreover, the molecular structures of two representative complexes C4 and C6 were confirmed by single crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis. On activation with methylaluminoxane (MAO), these complexes showed good catalytic activities for ethylene polymerization (up to 7.68 × 106 g/mol(Ti)·h) and ethylene/1‐hexene copolymerization (up to 8.32 × 106 g/mol(Ti)·h), producing polyolefins with high molecular weights (for polyethylene up to 1808 kg/mol, and for poly(ethylen‐co‐1‐hexene) up to 3290 kg/mol). Half‐titanocenes containing ligands with alkyl substituents showed higher catalytic activities, whereas the half‐titanocenes bearing methyl substituents on the cyclopentadienyl groups showed lower productivities, but produced polymers with higher molecular weights. Moreover, the copolymerization of ethylene and methyl 10‐undecenoate was demonstrated using the C1 /MAO catalytic system. The functionalized polyolefins obtained contained about 1 mol % of methyl 10‐undecenoate units and were fully characterized by several techniques such as FT‐IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, DSC, TGA and GPC analyses. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Olefin polymerizations catalyzed by Cp′TiCl2(O‐2,6‐iPr2C6H3) ( 1 – 5 ; Cp′ = cyclopentadienyl group), RuCl2(ethylene)(pybox) { 7 ; pybox = 2,6‐bis[(4S)‐4‐isopropyl‐2‐oxazolin‐2‐yl]pyridine}, and FeCl2(pybox) ( 8 ) were investigated in the presence of a cocatalyst. The Cp*TiCl2(O‐2,6‐iPr2C6H3) ( 5 )–methylaluminoxane (MAO) catalyst exhibited remarkable catalytic activity for both ethylene and 1‐hexene polymerizations, and the effect of the substituents on the cyclopentadienyl group was an important factor for the catalytic activity. A high level of 1‐hexene incorporation and a lower rE · rH value with 5 than with [Me2Si(C5Me4)(NtBu)]TiCl2 ( 6 ) were obtained, despite the rather wide bond angle of Cp Ti O (120.5°) of 5 compared with the bond angle of Cp Ti N of 6 (107.6°). The 7 –MAO catalyst exhibited moderate catalytic activity for ethylene homopolymerization and ethylene/1‐hexene copolymerization, and the resultant copolymer incorporated 1‐hexene. The 8 –MAO catalyst also exhibited activity for ethylene polymerization, and an attempted ethylene/1‐hexene copolymerization gave linear polyethylene. The efficient polymerization of a norbornene macromonomer bearing a ring‐opened poly(norbornene) substituent was accomplished by ringopening metathesis polymerization with the well‐defined Mo(CHCMe2Ph)(N‐2,6‐iPr2C6H3)[OCMe(CF3)2]2 ( 10 ). The key step for the macromonomer synthesis was the exclusive end‐capping of the ring‐opened poly(norbornene) with p‐Me3SiOC6H4CHO, and the use of 10 was effective for this polymerization proceeding with complete conversion. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Complexes of Titanium — Synthesis, Structure, and Fluxional Behaviour of CpTi{η6‐C5H4=C(p‐Tol)2}Cl (Cp′ = Cp*, Cp) The reaction of Cp′TiCl3 (C′ = Cp* or Cp) with magnesium and 6, 6‐di‐para‐tolylpentafulvene generates good yields of pentafulvene complexes Cp*Ti{η6‐C5H4=C(p‐Tol)2}Cl ( 4 ) and CpTi{η6‐C5H4=C(p‐Tol)2}Cl ( 5 ), respectively. The crystal and molecular structure of 4 have been determined from X‐ray data and exhibits compared to known η6‐pentafulvene complexes an unusual large Ti—C(p‐Tol)2 (Fv)‐distance (2.535(5)Å) evoked by the bulky substituents at the exocyclic carbon. Dynamic 1H‐NMR and spin saturation transfer experiments point out a rotation of the fulvene ligand around the Ti—Ct2 axis (Ct2 = centroid of the fulvene ring carbon atoms) with an activation barrier ΔGC = 60.6 ± 0.5 kJ mol−1 (TC = 314 ± 2 K). For 5 this barrier is significantly larger. Analogous dynamic behaviour is well known for diene complexes, but to our knowledge, it is here first‐time described for a pentafulvene complex.  相似文献

Insertion and Substitution Reaction of Methyl Formate with [Cp′2ZrCl(PHTipp)] – Molecular Structure of meso‐trans ‐[Cp′2ZrCl{OCH(PHTipp)2}] (Cp′ = η5‐C5MeH4, Tipp = 2,4,6‐Pri3C6H2) [Cp′2ZrCl(PHTipp)] ( 1 ) (Cp′ = η5‐C5MeH4, Tipp = 2,4,6‐Pri3C6H2) reacts with methyl formate with insertion and substitution to give [Cp′2ZrCl{OCH(PHTipp)2}] ( 2 ). 2 was characterized spectroscopically (1H, 31P NMR, IR, MS) and by X‐ray structure determination. Only the meso‐trans isomer is present in the solid state.  相似文献

Vinylsilanes CH2CHSiR3 (R = Me, NMe2, OMe, OTMS) copolymerize with ethylene rapidly in the presence of catalytic amounts of [Cp′2ZrMe][MeB(C6F5)3] (Cp′ = η5‐C5Me5) ( I ) to give high molecular weight silyl‐functionalized polyethylene. The molecular weight of the polymer can be controlled by varying the comonomer concentration as well as the reaction temperature. Relatively low molecular weight polymer was produced at a higher silyl monomer concentration and a higher polymerization temperature. The incorporation of silyl monomer in the polymer is in the range of 0.1‐ 6.0%. On the other hands, catalysts [Cp2ZrMe][MeB(C6F5)3] (Cp′ = η5‐C5H5) ( II ) and [Cp″2ZrMe][MeB(C6F5)3] (Cp″ = η5‐1,2‐C5Me2H3) ( III ) show much lower activity. With the use of more coordinatively unsaturated constrained geometry catalysts (CGC), Me2Si(η5‐C5Me4)(NtBu)MMe][MeB(C6F5)3] ( IV , M = Zr; V , M = Ti), the silyl monomer incorporation in the polymer was increased to 40%. The Ti catalyst is more active and produces polymer with a higher molecular weight with a higher silyl monomer incorporation at 23 °C. The copolymerization of vinyltrimethylsilane with propylene was also investigated with these catalysts, yielding high silyl‐functionalized propylene copolymer/oligmer. The microstructure of the copolymers/oligomers has been thoroughly investigated by 1D and 2D NMR techniques (1H, 13C, NOE, DEPT, HETCOR, and FLOCK). The results show that the backbone of the copolymers/oligomers is essentially random. Several termination pathways have been identified. In particular, two unsaturated silyl terminations, cis and/or trans‐TMS CHCH , were identified with the constrained geometry catalysts. Their formation was rationalized based on transition state models. It was found that occasional 1,2‐insertion of either propylene or vinyltrimethylsilane into the chain propagation process has a high probability serving as the trigger for polymer chain termination via β‐H elimination. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 6‐Benzimidazolylpyridyl‐2‐carboximidic half‐titanocene complexes, Cp′TiLCl (Cp′ = C5H5, MeC5H4, C5Me5, L = 6‐benzimidazolylpyridine‐2‐carboxylimidic, C1–C13 ), were synthesized and characterized along with single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction. The half‐titanocene chlorides containing substituted cyclopentadienyl groups, especially pentamethylcyclopentadienyl groups were more stable, while those without substituents on the cyclopentadienyl groups were easily transformed into their dimeric oxo‐bridged complexes, (CpTiL)2O ( C14 and C15 ). In the presence of excessive amounts of methylaluminoxane (MAO) or modified methylaluminoxane (MMAO), all half‐titanocene complexes showed high catalytic activities for ethylene polymerization. The substituents on the Cp groups affected the catalytic behaviors of the complexes significantly, with less substituents favoring increased activities and higher molecular weights of the resultant polyethylenes. Effects of reaction conditions on catalytic behaviors were systematically investigated with catalytic systems of mononuclear C1 and dimeric C14 . With C1 /MAO, large MAO amount significantly increases the catalytic activity, while the temperature only has a slight effect on the productivity. In the case of C14 /MAO catalytic system, temperature above 60 °C and Al/Ti value higher than 5000 were necessary to observe good catalytic activities. In both systems, higher reaction temperature and low cocatalyst amount gave the polyethylenes with higher molecular weights. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of Me4Cp–amido complexes {[η51‐(Me4C5)SiMe2NR]TiCl2; R = t‐Bu, 1 ; C6H5, 2 ; C6F5, 3 ; SO2Ph, 4 ; or SO2Me, 5 } were prepared and investigated for olefin polymerization in the presence of methylaluminoxane (MAO). X‐ray crystallography of complexes 3 and 4 revealed very long Ti N bonds relative to the bonds of 1 . These complexes were employed for ethylene–styrene copolymerizations, styrene homopolymerizations, and propylene homopolymerizations in the presence of MAO. The productivities of the catalysts derived from 3 – 5 were much lower than the productivity of the catalyst derived from 1 for the propylene polymerizations and ethylene–styrene copolymerizations, whereas the styrene polymerization activities were much higher for the catalysts derived from 3 – 5 than for the catalyst derived from 1 . The polymerization behavior of the catalysts derived from the metallocenes 3 – 5 were more reminiscent of monocyclopentadienyl titanocene Cp′TiX3/MAO catalysts than of CpATiX2/MAO catalysts such as 1 containing alkylamido ligands. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A series of N‐(2‐benzimidazolyquinolin‐8‐yl)benzamidate half‐titanocene chlorides, Cp′TiLCl ( C1 – C8 : Cp′ = C5H5, MeC5H4, or C5Me5; L = N‐(benzimidazolyquinolin‐8‐yl)benzamides)), was synthesized by the KCl elimination reaction of half‐titanocene trichlorides with the correspondent potassium N‐(2‐benzimidazolyquinolin‐8‐yl)benzamide. These half‐titanocene complexes were fully characterized by elemental and NMR analyses, and the molecular structures of complexes C2 and C8 were determined by the single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction. The high stability of the pentamethylcyclopentadienyl complex ( C8 ) was evident by no decomposing nature of its solution in air for one week. The oxo‐bridged dimeric complex ( C9 ) was isolated from the solution of the corresponding cyclopentadienyl complex ( C3 ) solution in air. Complexes C1 – C8 exhibited good to high catalytic activities toward ethylene polymerization and ethylene/α‐olefin copolymerization in the presence of methylaluminoxane (MAO) cocatalyst. In the typical catalytic system of C1/ MAO, the polymerization productivities were enhanced with either elevating reaction temperature or increasing the ratio of MAO to titanium precursor. In general, it was observed that higher the catalytic activity of the catalytic system lower the molecular weight of polyethylene. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Monocyclopentadienyl titanium imidazolin‐2‐iminato complexes [Cp′Ti(L)X2] 1a (Cp′ = cyclopentadienyl, L = 1,3‐di‐tert‐butylimidazolin‐2‐imide, X = Cl), 1b (X = CH3); 2 (Cp′ = cyclopentadienyl, L = 1,3‐diisopropylimidazolin‐2‐imide, X = Cl); 3 (Cp′ = tert‐butylcyclopentadienyl, L = 1,3‐di‐tert‐butylimidazolin‐2‐imide, X = Cl), upon activation with methylaluminoxane (MAO) were active for the polymerization of ethylene and propylene and the copolymerization of ethylene and 1‐hexene. Catalysts derived from imidazolin‐2‐iminato tropidinyl titanium complex 4 = [(Trop)Ti(L)Cl2] (Trop = tropidinyl, L = 1,3‐di‐tert‐butylimidazolin‐2‐imide) were much less active. Narrow polydispersities were observed for ethylene and propylene polymerization, but the copolymerization of ethylene/hexene led to bimodal molecular weight distributions. The productivity of catalysts derived from the dialkyl complex 1b activated with [Ph3C][B(C6F5)4] or B(C6F5)3 were less active for ethylene/hexene copolymerization but yielded ethylene/hexene copolymers of narrower molecular weight distributions than those derived from 1a/MAO. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of rare‐earth‐metal–hydrocarbyl complexes bearing N‐type functionalized cyclopentadienyl (Cp) and fluorenyl (Flu) ligands were facilely synthesized. Treatment of [Y(CH2SiMe3)3(thf)2] with equimolar amount of the electron‐donating aminophenyl‐Cp ligand C5Me4H‐C6H4o‐NMe2 afforded the corresponding binuclear monoalkyl complex [({C5Me4‐C6H4o‐NMe(μ‐CH2)}Y{CH2SiMe3})2] ( 1 a ) via alkyl abstraction and C? H activation of the NMe2 group. The lutetium bis(allyl) complex [(C5Me4‐C6H4o‐NMe2)Lu(η3‐C3H5)2] ( 2 b ), which contained an electron‐donating aminophenyl‐Cp ligand, was isolated from the sequential metathesis reactions of LuCl3 with (C5Me4‐C6H4o‐NMe2)Li (1 equiv) and C3H5MgCl (2 equiv). Following a similar procedure, the yttrium‐ and scandium–bis(allyl) complexes, [(C5Me4‐C5H4N)Ln(η3‐C3H5)2] (Ln=Y ( 3 a ), Sc ( 3 b )), which also contained electron‐withdrawing pyridyl‐Cp ligands, were also obtained selectively. Deprotonation of the bulky pyridyl‐Flu ligand (C13H9‐C5H4N) by [Ln(CH2SiMe3)3(thf)2] generated the rare‐earth‐metal–dialkyl complexes, [(η3‐C13H8‐C5H4N)Ln(CH2SiMe3)2(thf)] (Ln=Y ( 4 a ), Sc ( 4 b ), Lu ( 4 c )), in which an unusual asymmetric η3‐allyl bonding mode of Flu moiety was observed. Switching to the bidentate yttrium–trisalkyl complex [Y(CH2C6H4o‐NMe2)3], the same reaction conditions afforded the corresponding yttrium bis(aminobenzyl) complex [(η3‐C13H8‐C5H4N)Y(CH2C6H4o‐NMe2)2] ( 5 ). Complexes 1 – 5 were fully characterized by 1H and 13C NMR and X‐ray spectroscopy, and by elemental analysis. In the presence of both [Ph3C][B(C6F5)4] and AliBu3, the electron‐donating aminophenyl‐Cp‐based complexes 1 and 2 did not show any activity towards styrene polymerization. In striking contrast, upon activation with [Ph3C][B(C6F5)4] only, the electron‐withdrawing pyridyl‐Cp‐based complexes 3 , in particular scandium complex 3 b , exhibited outstanding activitiy to give perfectly syndiotactic (rrrr >99 %) polystyrene, whereas their bulky pyridyl‐Flu analogues ( 4 and 5 ) in combination with [Ph3C][B(C6F5)4] and AliBu3 displayed much‐lower activity to afford syndiotactic‐enriched polystyrene.  相似文献

A series of monocyclopentadienyl titanium complexes containing a pendant amine donor on a Cp group ( A = CpTiCl3, B = CpNTiCl3, C = CpNTiCl2TEMPO, for Cp = C5H5, CpN = C5H4CH2CH2N(CH3)2, and TEMPO = 2,2,6,6‐tetramethylpiperidine‐N‐oxyl) are investigated for styrene homopolymerization and ethylene–styrene (ES) copolymerization. When activated by methylaluminoxane at 70 °C, complexes with the amine group ( B and C ) are active for styrene homopolymerization and afford syndiotactic polystyrene (sPS). The copolymerizations of ethylene and styrene with B and C yield high‐molecular weight ES copolymer, whereas complex A yields mixtures of sPS and polyethylene, revealing the critical role that the pendant amine has on the polymerization behavior of the complexes. Fractionation, NMR, and DSC analyses of the ES copolymers generated from B and C suggest that they contain sPS. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of 1‐chloro‐2‐arylacetylenes [Cl‐C?C‐Ar, Ar = C6H5 ( 1 ), C6H4pi Pr ( 2 ), C6H4p‐Oi Pr ( 3 ), C6H4p‐NHC(O)Ot Bu ( 4 ), and C6H4oi Pr ( 5 )] were polymerized using (tBu3P)PdMeCl/silver trifluoromethanesulfonate (AgOTf) and MoCl5/SnBu4 catalysts. The corresponding polymers [poly( 1 )–poly( 5 )] with weight‐average molecular weights of 6,500–690,000 were obtained in 10–91% yields. THF‐insoluble parts, presumably high‐molecular weight polymers, were formed together with THF‐soluble polymers by the Pd‐catalyzed polymerization. The Pd catalyst polymerized nonpolar monomers 1 and 2 to give the polymers in yields lower than the Mo catalyst, while the Pd catalyst polymerized polar monomers 3 and 4 to give the corresponding polymers in higher yields. The 1H NMR and UV–vis absorption spectra of the polymers indicated that the cis‐contents of the Pd‐based polymers were higher than those of the Mo‐based polymers, and the conjugation length of the Pd‐based polymers was shorter than that of the Mo‐based polymers. Pd‐based poly( 5 ) emitted fluorescence most strongly among poly( 1 )–poly( 5 ). © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Chem. 2017 , 55 , 382–388  相似文献

On the Reactivity of Titanocene Complexes [Ti(Cp′)22‐Me3SiC≡CSiMe3)] (Cp′ = Cp, Cp*) towards Benzenedicarboxylic Acids Titanocene complexes [Ti(Cp′)2(BTMSA)] ( 1a , Cp′ = Cp = η5‐C5H5; 1b , Cp′ = Cp* = η5‐C5Me5; BTMSA = Me3SiC≡CSiMe3) were found to react with iodine and methyl iodide yielding [Ti(Cp′)2(μ‐I)2] ( 2a / b ; a refers to Cp′ = Cp and b to Cp′ = Cp*), [Ti(Cp′)2I2] ( 3a / b ) and [Ti(Cp′)2(Me)I] ( 4a / b ), respectively. In contrast to 2a , complex 2b proved to be highly moisture sensitive yielding with cleavage of HCp* [{Ti(Cp*)I}2(μ‐O)] ( 7 ). The corresponding reactions of 1a / b with p‐cresol and thiophenol resulted in the formation of [Ti(Cp′)2{O(p‐Tol)}2] ( 5a / b ) and [Ti(Cp′)2(SPh)2] ( 6a / b ), respectively. Reactions of 1a and 1b with 1,n‐benzenedicarboxylic acids (n = 2–4) resulted in the formation of dinuclear titanium(III) complexes of the type [{Ti(Cp′)2}2{μ‐1,n‐(O2C)2C6H4}] (n = 2, 8a / b ; n = 3, 9a / b ; n = 4, 10a / b ). All complexes were fully characterized analytically and spectroscopically. Furthermore, complexes 7 , 8b , 9a ·THF, 10a / b were also be characterized by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction analyses.  相似文献

Half‐sandwich (pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)(triflato)titanium(IV) complexes of the type [Ti(Cp*)(TfO)2X] (X=MeO ( 1 ), Me ( 2 ), 2,4,6‐Me3C6H2O ( 5 )) or [Ti(Cp*)(o‐OC6H4O)(TfO)] ( 7 ) were readily synthesized via methathesis of the corresponding chloride complexes with silver triflate (Cp*=(η5‐1,2,3,4,5‐pentamethylcyclopenta‐2,4‐dien‐1‐yl)). In addition, the complex 3 with X=OH was prepared by controlled hydrolysis of 2 . The solid‐state structures of these new complexes were determined by single‐crystal X‐ray‐diffraction techniques. Three different structural motifs were identified; 1, 2, 3 , and 7 are dimeric, while 5 is monomeric. The complexes were screened for their ability to stereospecifically polymerize styrene under homogeneous conditions. In the absence of activators, such as MAO (methylaluminoxane), 1 and 2 readily catalyzed the formation of atactic polystyrene; a strong dependence on the steric size of X was noted. In the presence of MAO, all of the complexes showed high activity and strong preference for the synthesis of syndiotactic polystyrene that was superior to that of [TiCl3(Cp*)]/MAO.  相似文献

Five examples of nickel(II) bromide complexes bearing N,N‐imino‐cyclopenta[b ]pyridines, [7‐(ArN)‐6,6‐Me2C8H5N]NiBr2 (Ar = 2,6‐Me2C6H3 ( Ni1 ), 2,6‐Et2C6H3 ( Ni2 ), 2,6‐i‐ Pr2C6H3 ( Ni3 ), 2,4,6‐Me3C6H2 ( Ni4 ), 2,6‐Et2‐4‐MeC6H2 ( Ni5 )), have been prepared by the reaction of the corresponding ligand, L1 – L5 , with NiBr2(DME) (DME = 1,2‐dimethoxyethane). On crystallization from bench dichloromethane, Ni1 underwent adventitious reaction with water to give the aqua salt, [ L1 NiBr(OH2)3][Br] ( Ni1' ). The molecular structures of Ni1' and Ni3 have been structurally characterized, the latter revealing a bromide‐bridged dimer. On activation with either MMAO or Et2AlCl, Ni1 , Ni2 , Ni4, and Ni5 , all exhibited high activities for ethylene polymerization (up to 3.88 × 106 g(PE) mol?1(Ni) h?1); the most sterically bulky Ni3 gave only low activity. Polyethylene waxes are a feature of the materials obtained which typically display low molecular weights (M ws), narrow M w distributions and unsaturated vinyl and vinylene functionalities. Notably, the catalyst comprising Ni1 /Et2AlCl produced polyethylene with the lowest M w, 0.67 kg mol?1, which is less than any previously reported data for any class of cycloalkyl‐fused pyridine–nickel catalyst. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
