Aluminum‐based salen and salan complexes mediate the ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) of rac‐β‐butyrolactone (β‐BL), rac‐lactide, and ε‐caprolactone. Al‐salen and Al‐salan complexes exhibit excellent control over the ROP of rac‐β‐butyrolactone, yielding atactic poly(3‐hydroxybutyrate) (PHB) with narrow PDIs of <1.15 for Al‐salen and <1.05 for Al‐salan. Kinetic studies reveal pseudo‐first‐order polymerization kinetics and a linear relationship between molecular weight and percent conversion. These complexes also mediate the immortal ROP of rac‐β‐BL and rac‐lactide, through the addition of excess benzyl alcohol of up to 50 mol eq., with excellent control observed. A novel methyl/adamantyl‐substituted Al‐salen system further improves control over the ROP of rac‐lactide and rac‐β‐BL, yielding atactic PHB and highly isotactic poly(lactic acid) (Pm = 0.88). Control over the copolymerization of rac‐lactide and rac‐β‐BL was also achieved, yielding poly(lactic acid)‐co‐poly(3‐hydroxybutyrate) with narrow PDIs of <1.10. 1H NMR spectra of the copolymers indicate a strong bias for the insertion of rac‐lactide over rac‐β‐BL. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of tin(II) complexes supported by N2O2 bis(phenol)‐amine ligands were prepared from the reactions of the corresponding ligands with Sn[N(SiMe3)2]2 in benzene at room temperature. The ligands were designed to have different substituted group at the ortho‐position on the aryl rings (R = tBu, CH3) and N‐containing side arm (E = ? CH2NEt2 and pyridine) giving a variation of tin(II) complexes (R = tBu, E = CH2NEt2, 2a ; R = tBu, E = py, 2b ; R = CH3, E = CH2NEt2, 2c ; R = CH3, E = py, 2d ). All complexes were characterized by NMR spectroscopy and single‐crystal X‐ray analysis. The single‐crystal X‐ray crystallography revealed that all complexes have a monomeric four‐coordinate tin center with a distorted seesaw structure. All complexes are active for solvent‐free polymerization of l ‐lactide at 120 °C giving poly(l ‐lactide) with narrow to moderate dispersity (Ð = 1.12–1.56). In the presence of benzyl alcohol during the polymerization, the resulting polymer was found to be linear having benzyl alcohol as the end group while, in the absence of benzyl alcohol, the polymer was cyclic. The large tBu group at the ortho‐position was found to decrease polymerization activity while the more basic ? CH2NEt2 group was found to increase the polymerization activity. The polymerization of rac‐lactide under a similar condition gave PLA having a slight heterotactic bias for all catalysts. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. The copolymerization of racemic β‐butyrolactone (rac‐BLMe) with racemic “allyl‐β‐butyrolactone” (rac‐BLallyl) in toluene, catalyzed by the discrete amino‐alkoxy‐bis(phenolate) yttrium‐amido complex 1 , gave new poly(β‐hydroxyalkanoate)s with unsaturated side chains. The poly(BLMeco‐BLallyl) copolymers produced have a highly syndiotactic backbone structure (Pr = 0.80–0.84) with a random enchainment of monomer units, as evidenced by 13C NMR, and high molecular weight (Mn up to 58,000 g mol?1) with a narrow polydispersity (Mw/Mn = 1.07–1.37), as determined by GPC. The comonomer incorporation (5–50 mol % rac‐BLallyl) was a linear function of the feed ratio. The pendant vinyl bond of the side‐chains in those poly(BLMeco‐BLallyl) copolymers allowed the effective introduction of hydroxy or epoxy groups via dihydroxylation, hydroboration‐oxidation or epoxidation reactions. NMR studies indicated that all of these transformations proceed in an essentially quantitative conversion and do not affect the macromolecular architecture. Some thermal properties (Tm, ΔHm, Tg) of the prepared polymers have been also evaluated. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 47: 3177–3189, 2009  相似文献

Ansa‐zirconocene diamide complex rac‐Me2Si(CMB)2Zr(NMe2)2 (rac‐1, CMB = 1‐C5H2‐2‐Me‐4‐tBu) reacts with AlR3 (R = Me, Et, i‐Bu) and then with [CPh3]+[B(C6F5)4] (2) in toluene in order to in situ generate cationic alkylzirconium species. In the sequential NMR‐scale reactions of rac‐1 with various amount of AlMe3 and 2, rac‐1 transforms first to rac‐Me2Si(CMB)2Zr(Me)(NMe2) (rac‐3) and rac‐Me2Si(CMB)2ZrMe2 (rac‐4) by the reaction with AlMe3, and then to [rac‐Me2Si(CMB)2ZrMe]+ (5+) cation by the reaction of the resulting mixtures with 2. The activities of propylene polymerizations by rac‐1/Al(i‐Bu)3/2 system are dependent on the type and concentration of AlR3, resulting in the order of activity: rac‐1/Al(i‐Bu)3/2 > rac‐1/AlEt3/2 > rac‐1/MAO ≫ rac‐1/AlMe3/2 system. The bulkier isobutyl substituents make inactive catalytic species sterically unfavorable and give rise to more separated ion pairs so that the monomers can easily access to the active sites. The dependence of the maximum rate (Rp, max) on polymerization temperature (Tp) obtained by rac‐1/Al(i‐Bu)3/2 system follows Arrhenius relation, and the overall activation energy corresponds to 0.34 kcal/mol. The molecular weight (MW) of the resulting isotactic polypropylene (iPP) is not sensitive to Al(i‐Bu)3 concentration. The analysis of regiochemical errors of iPP shows that the chain transfer to Al(i‐Bu)3 is a minor chain termination. The 1,3‐addition of propylene monomer is the main source of regiochemical sequence and the [mr] sequence is negligible, as a result the meso pentad ([mmmm]) values of iPPs are very high ([mmmm] > 94%). These results can explain the fact that rac‐1/Al(i‐Bu)3/2 system keeps high activity over a wide range of [Al(i‐Bu)3]/[Zr] ratio between 32 and 3,260. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Phosphido‐diphosphine Group 3 metal complexes 1–4 [(o‐C6H4PR2)2P‐M(CH2SiMe3)2; R = Ph, 1 : M = Y, 2 : M = Sc; R = iPr, 3 : M = Y, 4 : M = Sc] are very efficient catalysts for the ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) of cyclic esters such as ε‐caprolactone (ε‐CL), L ‐lactide, and δ‐valerolactone under mild polymerization conditions. In the ROP of ε‐CL, complexes 1–4 promote quantitative conversion of high amount of monomer (up to 3000 equiv) with very high turnover frequencies (TOF) (~4 × 104 molCL/molI h) showing a catalytic activity among the highest reported in the literature. The immortal and living ROP of ε‐CL and L ‐lactide is feasible by combining complexes 1–4 with 5 equiv of 2‐propanol. Polymers with controlled molecular parameters (Mn, end groups) and low polydispersities (Mw/Mn = 1.05–1.09) are formed as a result of fast alkoxide/alcohol exchange. In the ROP of δ‐valerolactone, complexes 1–4 showed the same activity observed for lactide (L ‐ and D ,L ‐lactide) producing high molecular weight polymers with narrow distribution of molar masses. Complexes 1–4 also promote the ROP of rac‐β butyrolactone affording atactic low molecular weight poly(hydroxybutyrate) bearing unsaturated end groups probably generated by elimination reactions. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Hetero‐bimetallic Fe(II) alkoxide/aryloxides were evaluated as initiators for the ring‐opening polymerization of rac‐lactide. [(THF)NaFe(OtBu)3]2 ( 1 ) and [(THF)4Na2Fe(2,6‐diisopropylphenolate)4] ( 2 ) (THF = tetrahydrofuran) both polymerized lactide efficiently at room temperature, with complex 1 affording better control over the molecular weight parameters of the resultant polymer. At conversions below 70%, a linear increase in molecular weight with conversion was observed, indicative of a well‐controlled polymerization process. Complex 2 is the first example of a dianionic Fe(II) alkoxide and has been structurally characterized to reveal a distorted square planar FeO4 array in which both Na counterions bridge two aryloxide ligands and are further complexed by two THF ligands. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of α‐keto‐β‐diimine nickel complexes (Ar‐N = C(CH3)‐C(O)‐C(CH3)=N‐Ar)NiBr2; Ar = 2,6‐R‐C6H3‐, R = Me, Et, iPr, and Ar = 2,4,6‐Me3‐C6H3‐) was prepared. All corresponding ligands are unstable even under an inert atmosphere and in a freezer. Stable copper complex intermediates of ligand synthesis and ethyl substituted nickel complex were isolated and characterized by X‐ray. All nickel complexes were used for the polymerization of ethene, propylene, and hex‐1‐ene to investigate their livingness and the extent of chain‐walking. Low‐temperature propene polymerization with less bulky ortho‐substituents was less isospecific than the one with isopropyl derivative. Propene stereoblock copolymers were prepared by iPr derivative combining the polymerization at low temperature to prepare isotactic polypropylene (PP) block and at a higher temperature, supporting chain‐walking, to obtain amorphous regioirregular PP block. Alternatively, a copolymerization of propene with ethene was used for the preparation of amorphous block. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. The kinetics of propylene polymerization initiated by ansa‐metallocene diamide compound rac‐Me2Si(CMB)2Zr(NMe2)2 (rac‐1, CMB = 1‐C5H2‐2‐Me‐4‐tBu)/methylaluminoxane (MAO) catalyst were investigated. The formation of cationic active species has been studied by the sequential NMR‐scale reactions of rac‐1 with MAO. The rac‐1 is first transformed to rac‐Me2Si(CMB)2ZrMe2 (rac‐2) through the alkylation mainly by free AlMe3 contained in MAO. The methylzirconium cations are then formed by the reaction of rac‐2 and MAO. Small amount of MAO ([Al]/[Zr] = 40) is enough to completely activate rac‐1 to afford methylzirconium cations that can polymerize propylene. In the lab‐scale polymerizations carried out at 30°C in toluene, the rate of polymerization (Rp) shows maximum at [Al]/[Zr] = 6,250. The Rp increases as the polymerization temperature (Tp) increases in the range of Tp between 10 and 70°C and as the catalyst concentration increases in the range between 21.9 and 109.6 μM. The activation energies evaluated by simple kinetic scheme are 4.7 kcal/mol during the acceleration period of polymerization and 12.2 kcal/mol for an overall reaction. The introduction of additional free AlMe3 before activating rac‐1 with MAO during polymerization deeply influences the polymerization behavior. The iPPs obtained at various conditions are characterized by high melting point (approximately 155°C), high stereoregularity (almost 100% [mmmm] pentad), low molecular weight (MW), and narrow molecular weight distribution (below 2.0). The fractionation results by various solvents show that iPPs produced at Tp below 30°C are compositionally homogeneous, but those obtained at Tp above 40°C are separated into many fractions. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Carbonyl–ene reactions of 2,3‐diketoesters catalyzed by [Cu{(S,S)‐tBu‐box}](SbF6)2 [box=bis(oxazoline)] generate chiral α‐functionalized α‐hydroxy‐β‐ketoesters in up to 94 % yield and 97 % ee. The 2,3‐diketoesters are conveniently accessed from the corresponding α‐diazo‐β‐ketoester, and a catalyst loading as low as 1.0 mol % can be achieved.  相似文献

Ring‐opening polymerization of rac‐ and meso‐lactide initiated by indium bis(phenolate) isopropoxides {1,4‐dithiabutanediylbis(4,6‐di‐tert‐butylphenolate)}(isopropoxy)indium ( 1 ) and {1,4‐dithiabutanediylbis(4,6‐di(2‐phenyl‐2‐propyl)phenolate)}(isopropoxy)indium ( 2 ) is found to follow first‐order kinetics for monomer conversion. Activation parameters ΔH? and ΔS? suggest an ordered transition state. Initiators 1 and 2 polymerize meso‐lactide faster than rac‐lactide. In general, compound 2 with the more bulky cumyl ortho‐substituents in the phenolate moiety shows higher polymerization activity than 1 with tert‐butyl substituents. meso‐Lactide is polymerized to syndiotactic poly(meso‐lactides) in THF, while polymerization of rac‐lactide in THF gives atactic poly(rac‐lactides) with solvent‐dependent preferences for heterotactic (THF) or isotactic (CH2Cl2) sequences. Indium bis(phenolate) compound rac‐(1,2‐cyclohexanedithio‐2,2′‐bis{4,6‐di(2‐phenyl‐2‐propyl)phenolato}(isopropoxy)indium ( 3 ) polymerizes meso‐lactide to give syndiotactic poly(meso‐lactide) with narrow molecular weight distributions and rac‐lactide in THF to give heterotactically enriched poly(rac‐lactides). © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Chiral 1,3,2‐Oxazaborolidines from the Reaction of Chiral 2,3‐Dihydro‐1H‐1,3,2‐diazaboroles and Diphenylketene Reaction of equimolar amounts of diphenylketene with 1,3‐di‐tert‐butyl‐2‐isobutyl‐2,3‐dihydro‐1H‐1,3,2‐diazaborole ( 1 ) regioselectively afforded 1,3,2‐oxazaborolidine ( 2 ). The employment of a series of chiral diazaboroles ( 3a : X = nBu; b: iBu; c: CH2SiMe3; d: NHtBu) led to the formation of the diastereoisomeric oxazaborolidines ( 4a – d ) with diastereomeric excesses de, which increase with the steric demand of X from de = 55 % (X = nBu) to de ≥ 95 % (X = NHtBu). Under comparable conditions the treatment of the enantiomerically pure diazaborole ( 6 ) with the ketene yielded oxazaborolidine ( 7 ) with a de‐value of only 52 %. The new compounds, with exception of 2 and 4d , are thermolabile solids, which were characterized mainly by spectroscopy (1H‐, 11B{1H}‐, 13C{1H}‐NMR, MS). The X‐ray structure analysis of 2 revealed a slightly puckered five‐membered heterocycle with a long B–O bond.  相似文献

Similar products [(t‐BuNH)P(μ‐N‐t‐Bu)2P=N‐t‐Bu)(N(CO2Et)NHCO2Et] ( 7 ) and [(CO2i‐Pr)HNN(CO2i‐Pr)](t‐BuN=P(μ‐N‐t‐Bu)2POCH2CMe2CH2O[P(μ‐N‐t‐Bu)2P=N‐t‐Bu)(N(CO2i‐Pr)NH(CO2i‐Pr)] ( 8 ) were spectroscopically characterized in the reaction of [(t‐BuNH)P‐N‐t‐Bu]2 ( 2 ) and [(t‐BuNH)P(μ‐N‐t‐Bu)2POCH2CMe2CH2OP(μ‐N‐t‐Bu)2P(NH‐t‐Bu)] ( 3 ) with diethyl‐ and diisopropyl azodicarboxylate, respectively. By contrast, the reaction of [(μ‐t‐BuN)P]2[O‐6‐t‐Bu‐4‐Me‐C6H2]2CH2 ( 4 ) and [(C5H10N)P‐μ‐N‐t‐Bu]2 ( 5 ) with diisopropyl azodicarboxylate afforded the mono‐ and bis‐oxidized compounds [(O)P(μ‐N‐t‐Bu)2P][O‐6‐t‐Bu‐4‐Me‐C6H2]2CH2 ( 9 ) and [(C5H10N)(O)P‐μ‐N‐t‐Bu]2 ( 10 ), respectively. Oxidative addition of o‐chloranil to 7 and its DIAD analogue [(t‐BuNH)P(μ‐N‐t‐Bu)2P=N‐t‐Bu)(N(CO2i‐Pr)NHCO2i‐Pr] ( 11 ) afforded [(C6Cl4‐1, 2‐O2)(t‐BuNH)P(μ‐N‐t‐Bu)2P=N‐t‐Bu)(N(CO2R)NHCO2R] [R = Et ( 12 ) and i‐Pr ( 13 )] containing tetra‐ and pentacoordinate PV atoms in the cyclodiphosphazane ring. The structures of 6 , 9 , 12 and 13 have been confirmed by X‐ray structure determination. For comparison, the X‐ray structure of the double cycloaddition product [(C6Cl4‐1, 2‐O2)(t‐BuNH)PN‐t‐Bu]2 ( 14 ), obtained from the reaction of 2 with two mole equivalents of o‐chloranil is also reported.  相似文献

An Unusual Ambivalent Tin(II)‐oxo Cluster The reaction of the copper aryl CuDmp (Dmp = 2, 6‐Mes2C6H3; Mes = 2, 4, 6‐Me3C6H2) with the stannanediyl Sn{1, 2‐(tBuCH2N)2C6H4} followed by hydrolysis affords in the presence of lithium‐tert‐butoxide the tin(II)‐oxo cluster {(Et2O)(LiOtBu)(SnO)(CuDmp)}2 ( 5 ) in small yield. The solid state structure of the colorless compound shows a central Li2Sn2O2(OtBu)2 fragment with heterocubane structure. Copolymerizations of ethylene with α‐olefins (i.e., 1‐hexene, 1‐octene, allylbenzene, and 4‐phenyl‐1‐butene) using the bis(β‐enaminoketonato) titanium complexes [(Ph)NC(R2)CHC(R1)O]2TiCl2 ( 1a : R1 = CF3, R2 = CH3; 1b : R1 = Ph, R2 = CF3; and 1c : R1 = t‐Bu, R2 = CF3), activated with modified methylaluminoxane as a cocatalyst, have been investigated. The catalyst activity, comonomer incorporation, and molecular weight, and molecular weight distribution of the polymers produced can be controlled over a wide range by the variation of the catalyst structure, α‐olefin, and reaction parameters such as the comonomer feed concentration. The substituents R1 and R2 of the ligands affect considerably both the catalyst activity and comonomer incorporation. Precatalyst 1a exhibits high catalytic activity and produces high‐molecular‐weight copolymers with high α‐olefin insertion. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel hydroxy‐, methoxy‐, and phenoxy‐bridge “Mitsubishi emblem” tetranuclear aluminum complex ( 1 ) is synthesized from an unsymmetric amine‐pyridine‐bis(phenol) N2O2‐ligand (H2L1) and a symmetric amine‐tris(phenol) NO3‐ligand (H2L2). Two same configuration chiral nitrogen atoms are formed in the tetranuclear Al complex upon coordination of the unsymmetric tertiary amine ligand to central Al. Complex 1 initiates controlled ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) of rac‐lactide and afford polylactide (PLA) with narrow molecular weight distributions (Mw/Mn = 1.05–1.19). The analysis of 1H NMR spectra of the oligomer indicates that the methoxy group is the initiating group and the ring‐opening polymerization of lactide follows a coordination‐insertion mechanism. The Homonuclear decoupled 1H NMR spectroscopy suggests the isotactic‐rich chains is preferentially formed in PLA. The study on kinetics of the ROP of lactide reveals the homopropagation rate is higher than the cross‐propagation rate, which is in agreement with the observed isotactic selectivity in the ROP of rac‐lactide. The stereochemistry of the polymerization was also supported by activation parameters. The introduction of unsymmetric ligand H2L1 has an effect on stereoslectivity of polymerization. This result may be of interest for the design of multinuclear metal complex catalysts containing functionalized ligands. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Several titanium complexes based on aminodiol ligands were tested as initiators for the ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) of ε‐caprolactone under solution and bulk conditions. All complexes were found to be efficient under both conditions. For bulk polymerization at 70 °C, high activities were observed (113.3–156.2 gpoly mmolcat?1 h?1) together with controlled molar mass distribution. Kinetic studies revealed controlled polymerization, and the chain propagation was first order with respect to monomer conversion. One complex was also tested for the ROP of rac‐β‐butyrolactone and the end‐group analysis suggested that ring opening occurs through acyl‐oxygen bond cleavage via coordination–insertion mechanism. The microstructure analysis of polymer by 13C NMR indicates atactic polymer. Another complex was also found to be efficient initiator for the ROP of trimethylene carbonate under solution and bulk conditions. Again, end‐group analysis suggests coordination–insertion mechanism. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2011  相似文献

The controlled ring‐opening polymerization of racemic allyl‐β‐butyrolactone (rac‐BLallyl) in toluene or in bulk, catalyzed by the discrete β‐diiminate zinc amido [(BDIiPr)Zn(N(SiMe3)2)] ( 1 ) or {amino‐methoxy‐bis(phenolate)}yttrium amido [(ONOOtBu)Y(N(SiHMe2)2)(THF)] ( 2 ) complexes, in association with an alcohol, gave poly(β‐hydroxyalkanoate)s (PHAs) with allylic side chains. These PHAsallyl exhibit either a slightly isotactic‐enriched (Pm = 0.61) or highly syndiotactic‐enriched (Pr = 0.82) backbone structure, respectively, with high molar mass (M n up to 21,100 g mol?1) and narrow molar mass distribution values (1.05 < M w/M n < 1.28), as evidenced by detailed 13C NMR and size exclusion chromatography analyses. Postpolymerization rhodium‐catalyzed hydroboration of the resulting PHAsallyl with pinacolborane quantitatively afforded the corresponding PHAsboron. Introduction of boron into the pendant chains did not alter neither the structure of the polymer backbone nor the macromolecular features (M n, M w/M n, and stereoregularity). However, differential scanning calorimetry analyses revealed a significant increase of the glass transition temperature on modifying the allyl for the boron function in these PHAs. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The synthesis, characterization, and ring‐opening polymerization of a new cyclic carbonate monomer containing an allyl ester moiety, 5‐methyl‐5‐allyloxycarbonyl‐1,3‐dioxan‐2‐one (MAC), was performed for the first time. MAC was synthesized in five steps in good yield beginning from the starting material, 2,2‐bis(hydroxymethyl)propionic acid. Subsequent polymerization and copolymerizations of the new cyclic carbonate with rac‐lactide (rac‐LA) and ?‐caprolactone (CL) were attempted. Rac‐LA copolymerized well with MAC, but CL copolymerizations produced insoluble products. Oligomeric macroinitiators of MAC and rac‐LA were synthesized from stannous ethoxide, and both macroinitiators were used for the controlled ring‐opening polymerization of rac‐LA. The polymerization kinetics were examined by monitoring the disappearance of the characteristic C? O ring stretch of the monomer at 1240 cm?1 with real‐time in situ Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Postpolymerization oxidation reactions were conducted to epoxidize the unsaturated bonds of the MAC‐functionalized polymers. Epoxide‐containing polymers may allow further organic transformations with various nucleophiles, such as amines, alcohols, and carboxylic acids. NMR was used for microstructure identification of the polymers, and size exclusion chromatography and differential scanning calorimetry were used to characterize the new functionalized poly(ester‐carbonates). © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Cationic copolymerization of racemic‐β‐butyrolactone (β‐BL) with l,l ‐lactide (LA) initiated by alcohol and catalyzed by trifluoromethanesulfonic acid proceeding by activated monomer (AM) mechanism was investigated. Although both comonomers were present from the beginning in the reaction mixture, polymerization proceeded in sequential manner, with poly‐BL formed at the first stage acting as a macroinitiator for the subsequent polymerization of LA. Such course of copolymerization was confirmed by following the consumption of both comonomers throughout the process as well as by observing the changes of growing chain‐end structure using 1H NMR. 13C NMR analysis and thermogravimetry revealed the block structure of resulting copolymers. The proposed mechanism of copolymerization was confirmed by the studies of changes of 1H NMR chemical shift of acidic proton in the course of copolymerization, providing an indication that indeed protonated species and hydroxyl groups are present throughout the process, as required for AM mechanism. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
