We have demonstrated a direct arylation polycondensation of 3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene with 2,7‐dibromo‐9,9‐dioctylfluorene using palladium on carbon (Pd/C) as a catalyst. Pd/C is a low‐cost solid‐supported palladium catalyst, giving one of the effective catalytic systems for direct arylation. The Pd/C‐catalyzed direct arylation polycondensation with acetic acid/potassium carbonate in N,N‐dimethylacetamide furnished a high molecular weight π‐conjugated alternating copolymer of EDOT‐fluorene (Mn = 89,300, Mw/Mn = 3.27) in high yield. The polycondensation of EDOT with various dibromoarenes was also achieved, giving EDOT‐carbazole, EDOT‐dialylamine, and EDOT‐bithiophene polymers. Optical and electrochemical properties of the polymers were also discussed. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Chem. 2016 , 55, 1183–1188  相似文献

Two new soluble alternating carbazolevinylene‐based polymers POXD and PTPA as well as the corresponding model compounds MOXD and MTPA were synthesized by Heck coupling. POXD and MOXD contained 2,5‐diphenyloxadiazole segments, while PTPA and MTPA contained triphenylamine segments. All samples displayed high thermal stability. The polymers had higher glass transition temperature (Tg) than their corresponding model compounds. The samples showed absorption maximum at 364–403 nm with optical band gap of 2.62–2.82 eV. They emitted blue‐green light with photoluminescence (PL) emission maximum at 450–501 nm and PL quantum yields in THF solution of 0.15–0.36. The absorption and the PL emission maxima of PTPA and MTPA were blue‐shifted as compared to those of POXD and MOXD . The electroluminescence (EL) spectra of multilayered devices made using four materials exhibited bluish green emissions, which is well consistent with PL spectra. The EL devices made using poly(vinyl carbazole) doped with MOXD and MTPA as emitting materials showed luminances of 12.1 and 4.8 cd m?2. POXD and PTPA exhibited 25.4, and 96.3 cd m?2, respectively. The polymer containing the corresponding molecules in the repeating group showed much higher device performances. Additionally, POXD and MOXD exhibited better stability of external quantum efficiency (EQE) and luminous efficiency with current density resulting from enhancing the electron transporting properties. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two novel heterocycle‐fluorene‐heterocycle monomers, 2,2′‐(9,9‐dioctyl‐9H‐fluorene‐2,7‐diyl)dithiophene (Th‐F‐Th) and 5,5′‐(9,9‐dioctyl‐9H‐fluorene‐2,7‐diyl)bis(2,3‐dihydrothieno[3,4‐b][1,4]dioxine) (EDOT‐F‐EDOT), were synthesized via Stille coupling reaction and electropolymerized to form corresponding polymers P(Th‐F‐Th) and P(EDOT‐F‐EDOT). Furthermore, the optoelectronic properties of the obtained monomers and polymers were explored using cyclic voltammetry (CV), UV–vis, and emission spectra and in situ spectroelectrochemical techniques. The band gap values of monomers calculated by DFT were 3.75 eV for EDOT‐F‐EDOT and 4.03 eV for Th‐F‐Th, while that of P(EDOT‐F‐EDOT) and P(Th‐F‐Th) were brought down to 1.70 and 2.10 eV, respectively. Both polymers exhibited excellent redox activity and electrochromic performance. P(EDOT‐F‐EDOT) exhibited a maximum optical contrast of 25.8% at 500 nm in visible region with a response time of 1.2 s. In addition, the coloration efficiency of P(EDOT‐F‐EDOT) was calculated to be 220 cm2 C?1. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Chem. 2016 , 54, 325–334  相似文献

The Sonogashira–Hagihara coupling polymerization of d ‐hydroxyphenylglycine‐derived diiodo monomers 1–4 and platinum‐containing diethynyl monomer 5 gave the corresponding polymers [poly( 1–5 )–( 2–5 )] with number‐average molecular weights of 19,000–25,000 quantitatively. The polymers were soluble in CHCl3, CH2Cl2, THF, and DMF. CD and UV–vis spectroscopic analysis revealed that amide‐substituted polymers [poly( 1–5 ) and poly( 2–5 )] formed chiral higher‐order structures in solution, while ester‐substituted polymers [poly( 3–5 ) and poly( 4–5 )] did not. Poly( 1–5 ) formed one‐handed helices in THF/toluene mixtures, while it formed chiral aggregates in THF/MeOH mixtures. Poly( 1–5 ) emitted fluorescence with quantum yields ranging from 0.8 to 1.3%. The polymers usually aggregated in the solid state. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Chem. 2015 , 53, 2452–2461  相似文献

We have prepared four light‐emitting polymers bearing a chromophore composed of carbazole and fluorene by the Suzuki coupling polycondensation. Two nonconjugated polymers (P3CzBFXy and P2CzFXy) had a chromophore tethered by the p‐xylylene spacer, whose connection point between carbazole and fluorene in addition to the number of fluorene unit was systematically changed to investigate the emission wavelength and intensity. The red‐shifted absorption and emission maximum wavelengths together with the improved fluorescence quantum yield of polymers P3CzBFXy and P2CzFXy indicate that the increment of the number of para‐connected benzene rings included in the chromophore effectively extends the conjugation length. The fact that polymer P3CzBFXy has longer wavelength absorption and emission spectra also indicates the interaction of the carbazole nitrogen lone pair with the oligophenylene moiety. Other two polymers P3CzFPy and P3CzFPym having the heterocycle directly bound to the carbazole nitrogen were prepared to know the character of the carbazole nitrogen lone pair and their influence on the fluorescence behavior. The fluorescence spectra of polymer P3CzFPym bearing the pyrimidine ring gradually red‐shifted in conjunction with the decrease of fluorescence quantum yield on going from toluene solution to CHCl3 solution because of the intramolecular charge transfer at the excited state. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A diamine containing heterocyclic pyridine and unsymmetrical carbazole substituents, 4‐(9‐ethyl‐3‐carbazole)‐2,6‐bis(4‐aminophenyl)pyridine ( CBAPP ), was prepared for use in the synthesis of poly(pyridine‐imide)s PI‐1–8 by direct polycondensation with dianhydrides in N,N‐dimethylacetamide (DMAc). The poly(pyridine‐imide)s derived from the diamine are highly soluble in solvents such as N‐Methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone (NMP) and DMAc at room temperature. Noncoplanar polyimide (PI‐1) showed excellent solubility, high transparency, and high‐performance mechanical properties. These polymers had relatively high glass transition temperatures and exhibited good thermal stability in both nitrogen (Td10 > 470 °C) and air (Td10 > 450 °C). The PI‐3~5 cannot form flexible and tough films due to the unsymmetrical carbazole moiety, rigid structure, and polar–polar interaction. However, through copolymerization technique these polymers (PI‐6~8) could be enhanced through the solubility, mechanical, and thermal properties. The optical properties included a strong orange fluorescence (540 nm) after protonation with acid. When the HCl concentration was increased, a new absorption band at approximately 350 nm appeared, and the intensity of the fluorescent peak at 380 nm observed in the neutral polymer solution decreased, along with the appearance of the new fluorescent peak at 540 nm. The poly(pyridine‐imide)s presented here showed only slight fluorescence quenching in the presence of methanol. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Three new poly(fluorenevinylene) derivatives were synthesized, characterized, and used as emissive materials in light‐emitting diodes (LEDs). They were synthesized by Heck coupling of 9,9‐dihexyl‐2,7‐divinylfluorene with 2,7‐dibromo‐9,9‐dihexylfluorene, 2,3‐bis(4‐bromophenyl)quinoxaline, or 2,5‐bis(4‐bromophenyl)‐3,4‐diphenylthiophene to afford the polymers F , Q , and T , respectively. Polymers F and Q had medium number–average molecular weights (Mn ? 14,000) with relatively narrow polydispersity (1.3–1.6), while T was obtained as an oligomer (Mn ? 4000). All polymers were soluble in common organic solvents, such as tetrahydrofuran (THF), chloroform, dichloromethane, and toluene. They emitted blue‐greenish fluorescence light in dilute THF solution (444–491 nm), with photoluminescence (PL) quantum yields of 0.32–0.54, and in thin film (453–488 nm). LEDs with the configuration of ITO/PEDOT‐PSS/Polymer/Li:Al were fabricated and evaluated. The electroluminescence (EL) spectra of the Q and F polymers were very broad covering the blue–green–red region, whereas the spectrum of the polymer T was almost purely blue. The threshold electrical field for light emission of the devices was almost the same (?1.75 MV/cm). The external quantum efficiency of the devices of polymers Q and F was about 1.0 × 10?3%, whereas that of polymer T was ?3.0 × 10?5%. The fluorescence lifetime of polymers F and Q was significantly longer than that of the polymer T . © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 44: 4494–4507, 2006  相似文献

The present investigation deals with the synthesis, characterization, and EL properties of new polyfluorenevinylenes, CzCNPFVs, with cyano‐substituted vinylene unit and carbazole pendant. In CzCNPFVs, synthesized by the Knoevenagel condensation, the carbazole pendant was introduced to improve the efficiency of reported CNPFV. The PL emission spectra of the CzCNPFVs in chloroform solution show maximum peaks at 476–479 nm. In thin films, maximum peaks of the CzCNPFVs appeared at 501–504 nm, red‐shifted around 25 nm as compared to those in solution. The emission maxima of the EL spectra of the polymers appear at around 496–504 nm. The maximum luminescence (Lmax) of CzCNPFV2 of the device with the configuration of ITO/PEDOT/CzCNPFVs/Ca/Al is 1724 cd/m2 at 8 V. The maximum luminescence efficiency of CzCNPFV1 is 0.18 cd/A. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 47: 6540–6551, 2009  相似文献

A series of rigid poly(p‐phenylene ethynylene)s ( PPE1 – PPE4 ) with biphenyl‐ ( M1–M3 ) and phenyl‐ ( M4 ) side groups is prepared from appropriately functionalized monomers. Herein, the solution and solid state absorption studies show the polymers have adopted twisted and rigid conformations, as supported by deep HOMO energy levels (?5.76 to ?5.81 eV). The absorption maxima of PPE1–PPE3 are shifted to shorter wavelength (λmax = 375–381 nm) as compared to linear poly(p‐phenylene ethynylene)s (446 nm), implying a nonplanar conformation. The self‐assembly of polymers into fibers is examined using scanning electron microscopy. The fibers are not observed in PPE4 with short phenyl side group, suggesting the important role of the interplay between rigidity, position, and size of the side chains toward the formation of fibers. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Four linear polymers containing pendant azo moiety were synthesized through click chemistry for second‐order nonlinear optical study. The polymers were found soluble in most of the polar organic solvents such as tetrahydrofuran (THF), chloroform, and dimethyl formamide (DMF). The polymers showed thermal stability up to 300 °C and glass transition temperatures (Tg) in the range of 120–140 °C. The molecular weights (Mw) of these polymers (measured by gel permeation chromatography) were in the range 37,900–55,000 g/mol. The polymers were found to form optically transparent films by solution casting from THF solution. Order parameters were calculated from UV–vis absorption spectra. The morphology changes in the films after poling were characterized by atomic force microscopy. The angular dependence, temperature dependence, and time dependence of second harmonic generation (SHG) intensity were obtained by using 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser. The SHG intensity remained unchanged up to 95 °C. At room temperature, it remained stable up to 8 days after initial drop of about 14%. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We report novel host polymers for a high‐efficiency polymer‐based solution‐processed phosphorescent organic light‐emitting diode with typical blue‐emitting dopant bis(4,6‐difluorophenylpyridinato‐N,C2)iridium(III) picolinate (FIrpic). The host polymers, soluble polynorbornenes with pendant carbazole derivatives, N‐phenyl‐9H‐carbazole ( P1 ), N‐biphenyl‐9H‐carbazole ( P2 ), and 9,9′‐(1,3‐phenylene)bis‐9H‐carbazole (mCP) ( P3 ) are efficiently synthesized by vinyl addition polymerization of norbornene monomers using Pd(II) catalyst in combination with 1‐octene chain transfer agent. The polymers exhibit high thermal stability with high decomposition (Td5 > 410 °C) and glass transition temperatures (Tg ≈ 268 °C). The HOMO (ca. ?5.5 to ?5.7 eV) and LUMO (ca. ?2.0 to ?2.1 eV) levels with the high triplet energy of about 2.7–3.0 eV suggest that the polymers are suitable for a host material for blue emitters. Among the solution‐processed devices that were fabricated based on the emissive layers containing the P1 ? P3 host doped with various concentrations of FIrpic (7–13 wt %), the best device with P3 host exhibits power efficiency of 3.0 lm W?1 and external quantum efficiency of 4.0% at a luminance of 1000 cd m?2 that is outstanding among the polymeric rivals. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of four well‐defined poly(ferrocenyldimethylsilane) (PFS) samples spanning a molecular weight range of approximately 10,000–100,000 g mol−1 was synthesized by the living anionic polymerization of dimethyl[1]silaferrocenophane initiated with n‐BuLi. The polymers possessed narrow polydispersities and were used to characterize the solution behavior of PFS in tetrahydrofuran (THF). The weight‐average molecular weights (Mw ) of the polymers were determined by low‐angle laser light scattering (LALLS), conventional gel permeation chromatography (GPC), and GPC equipped with a triple detector (refractive index, light scattering, and viscosity). The molecular weight calculated by conventional GPC, with polystyrene standards, underestimated the true value in comparison with LALLS and GPC with the triple detection system. The Mark–Houwink parameter a for PFS in THF was 0.62 (k = 2.5 × 10−4), which is indicative of fairly marginal polymer–solvent interactions. The scaling exponent between the radius of gyration and Mw was 0.54, also consistent with marginal polymer–solvent interactions for PFS in THF. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The polycarbazoles have been proved to efficiently suppress the keto defect emission. Three carbazole‐based conjugated polymers, poly[9‐methyl‐3‐(4‐vinylstyryl)‐9H‐carbazole] (PBC), poly[9‐methyl‐3‐(2‐(5‐vinylthiophen‐2‐yl)vinyl)‐9H‐carbazole] (PBT) and poly[9‐methyl‐3‐(2‐(5‐vinylfuran‐2‐yl)vinyl)‐9H‐carbazole] (PBF), were investigated by quantum‐chemical techniques, and gain a detailed understanding of the influence of carbazole units and the introduction of electron‐donating on the electronic and optical properties. The electronic properties of the neutral molecules, HOMO‐LUMO gaps (ΔE), in addition to ionization potential (Ip) and electron affinity (Ea), are studied using B3LYP density functional theory. The lowest excitation energies (Eg) and the absorption wavelength are studied using the time dependent density functional theory (TDDFT). The calculated results show that all three series of polymers have good planarity. And the highest‐occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) energies lift about 0.36–0.61 eV and thus the IP decrease about 0.01–0.19 eV compared to polycarbazole, suggesting the significant improved hole‐accepting and transporting abilities. By introducing the electron‐donating 1,4‐divinylphenylene or 2,5‐divinylthiophene or 2,5‐divinylfuran units in the backbone, and the lowest‐unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energies decrease 0.20–0.39 eV. In addition, PBC, PBT and PBF have longer maximal absorption wavelengths than polycarbazole. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part B: Polym Phys 47: 706–714, 2009  相似文献

2‐((2,3‐Dihydrothieno[3,4‐b]dioxin‐2‐yl)methoxy)methyl oxirane (EDOT‐MO) was successfully synthesized by the reaction of epichlorohydrin with hydroxymethylated‐3,4‐ethylenedioxylthiophene (EDOT‐MeOH), which was synthesized via a simple four‐step sequence. Poly(hydroxymethylated‐3,4‐ethylenedioxylthiophene) (PEDOT‐MeOH) and poly(2‐((2,3‐dihydrothieno[3,4‐b]dioxin‐2‐yl)methoxy)methyl oxirane) (PEDOT‐MO) were electrosynthesized through electropolymerization of EDOT‐MeOH and EDOT‐MO, respectively. Structural, electrochemical, optical, and thermal properties of as‐formed polymers were investigated by FTIR, cyclic voltammetry, UV–vis, and thermogravimetry. Spectroelectrochemistry studies demonstrated that PEDOT‐MeOH and PEDOT‐MO could be reversibly oxidized and reduced accompany with obvious color changes. Further kinetic studies demonstrated that the introduction of hydroxymethyl or ethylene oxide group significantly improved electrochromic properties of 3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene (PEDOT) and resulted in high contrast ratios (57.3% at 585 nm) and coloration efficiencies (338.5 cm2 C?1), low switching voltages, and fast response time. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Novel chiral acetylene monomers containing carbazole, 2‐ethynyl‐9‐[(S)‐2‐methylbutoxycarbonyl]carbazole ( 1 ), 3‐ethynyl‐9‐[(S)‐2‐methylbutoxycarbonyl]carbazole ( 2 ), 2‐ethynyl‐9‐[(S)‐2‐methylbutyl]carbazole ( 3 ), and 2‐ethynyl‐9‐[(S)‐4‐methylhexyl]carbazole ( 4 ) were synthesized and polymerized with [(nbd)RhCl]2? Et3N. The corresponding polyacetylenes with number‐average molecular weights ranging from 68,700 to 310,000 were obtained in good yields. Poly( 1 ) exhibited a large specific rotation and an intense Cotton effect in toluene, indicating that it formed a helix with predominantly one‐handed screw sense, while the other three polymers showed no evidence for taking a helical structure. Poly( 1 ) largely decreased the CD intensity upon heating from ?10 to 60 °C. Poly( 1 ) showed a Cotton effect in film state in a manner similar to solution state. No chiral amplification was observed in the copolymerization of 1 with achiral 2‐ethynyl‐9‐tert‐butoxycarbonylcarbazole ( 5 ). © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Cationic copolymerization of tetrahydrofuran (THF) with ethylene oxide (EO) in the presence of diols leads to dihydroxy terminated telechelic copolymers. In the present article the influence of copolymerization conditions on the copolymer structure was studied in view of conclusions derived from studies of copolymerization kinetics and mechanism. It was shown that according to established copolymerization mechanism, the number average molecular weights increase linearly with conversion up to Mn ≅ 2500, hydroxyl end groups are bound exclusively to EO units and copolymers are composed of [EO]–[THF]y segments. Microstructure of copolymers may be to some extent regulated by changing reaction conditions. Some physical properties of copolymers also were studied. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Vanadium(III) complexes bearing phenoxy‐phosphine ligands ( 2a–g ) (2‐R1‐4‐R2‐6‐PPh2‐C6H2O)VCl2(THF)2 ( 2a : R1 = R2 = H; 2b : R1 = F, R2 = H; 2c : R1 = Ph, R2 = H; 2d : R1 = tBu, R2 = H; 2e : R1 = R2 = Me; 2f : R1 = R2 = tBu; 2g : R1 = R2 = CMe2Ph) were prepared from VCl3(THF)3 by treating with 1.0 equiv of the ligand in tetrahydrofuran (THF) in the presence of excess triethylamine (TEA). The reaction of VCl3(THF)3 with 2.0 equiv of the ligand in THF in the presence of excess TEA afforded vanadium(III) complexes bearing two phenoxy‐phosphine ligands ( 3c–f ). These complexes were characterized by FTIR and mass spectrum as well as elemental analyses. Structures of 2f and 3c were further confirmed by X‐ray crystallographic analyses. Complexes 2a–g and 3c–f were employed as the catalysts for ethylene polymerization under various reaction conditions. On activation with Et2AlCl, these complexes exhibited high catalytic activities (up to 41.3 kg PE/mmolV·h·bar) even at high temperature (70°C), and produced high molecular weight polymer with unimodal molecular weight distributions, indicating the polymerization took place in a single‐site nature. Complexes 3c–f displayed better thermal stability than the corresponding complexes 2a–g under similar conditions. In addition, copolymerizations of ethylene and 1‐hexene with precatalysts 2a–g were also explored in the presence of Et2AlCl. Catalytic activity, comonomer incorporation, and properties of the resultant polymers can be controlled over a wide range by tuning catalyst structures and reaction parameters.© 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of 1‐chloro‐2‐arylacetylenes [Cl‐C?C‐Ar, Ar = C6H5 ( 1 ), C6H4pi Pr ( 2 ), C6H4p‐Oi Pr ( 3 ), C6H4p‐NHC(O)Ot Bu ( 4 ), and C6H4oi Pr ( 5 )] were polymerized using (tBu3P)PdMeCl/silver trifluoromethanesulfonate (AgOTf) and MoCl5/SnBu4 catalysts. The corresponding polymers [poly( 1 )–poly( 5 )] with weight‐average molecular weights of 6,500–690,000 were obtained in 10–91% yields. THF‐insoluble parts, presumably high‐molecular weight polymers, were formed together with THF‐soluble polymers by the Pd‐catalyzed polymerization. The Pd catalyst polymerized nonpolar monomers 1 and 2 to give the polymers in yields lower than the Mo catalyst, while the Pd catalyst polymerized polar monomers 3 and 4 to give the corresponding polymers in higher yields. The 1H NMR and UV–vis absorption spectra of the polymers indicated that the cis‐contents of the Pd‐based polymers were higher than those of the Mo‐based polymers, and the conjugation length of the Pd‐based polymers was shorter than that of the Mo‐based polymers. Pd‐based poly( 5 ) emitted fluorescence most strongly among poly( 1 )–poly( 5 ). © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Chem. 2017 , 55 , 382–388  相似文献

(tBuC5H4)TiCl2(N=CtBu2) ( 1 ) exhibited remarkable catalytic activities (12,000–43,700 kg‐polymer/mol‐Ti·h) and efficient comonomer incorporation in ethylene copolymerization with tetracyclododecene (TCD) in the presence of methylaluminoxane, and the catalytic activity by 1 increased even at 60 °C. The resultant polymers are high molecular weight amorphous poly(ethylene‐co‐TCD)s (Mn = 5.88–7.03 × 105) with uniform compositions (with high Tg values, 108–203 °C); a linear relationship between Tg values and the TCD contents was observed. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A surface‐active p‐vinyl benzyloxy‐ω‐hydroxy‐poly(ethylene oxide) macromonomer containing 22 pendant structural units of ethylene oxide (St–PEO22) was synthesized with an initiation method. Because of its solubility in a large variety of solvents, the free‐radical copolymerization with electron‐acceptor N‐phenylmaleimide (NPMI) was performed at 60 °C in benzene and tetrahydrofuran (THF) as isotropic media and in a water–THF mixture or water as a heterogeneous medium. Oil‐soluble 2,2′‐azobisisobutyronitrile and water‐soluble 4,4′‐azobis(4‐cyanovaleric acid) were used as the initiators at fixed concentrations. Two different St–PEO22/NPMI comonomer ratios (1/1 and 3/7) at a fixed total comonomer concentration in the polymerization system were used. The structures, compositions, and microstructure peculiarities of the obtained alternating, amphiphilic, comblike copolymers were determined by NMR analysis. For the copolymers synthesized in hydrophilic media, differential scanning calorimetry showed, near the endothermic peak attributed to the melting of the poly(ethylene oxide) side chains, the presence of a second peak due to the partially ordered phase that could exist between the crystalline state and the isotropic melt. Also, the thermal stability of the obtained copolymers was studied with thermogravimetric analysis. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 43: 479–492, 2005  相似文献
