Bolaamphiphilic tetraresorcinolporphyrins with eight long side chains (octopusporphyrins) and their metal complexes form monolayered assemblies in bulk aqueous solution. The nano-structure, the photoinduced electron transfers and the O2 coordination of these octopusporphyrin assemblies are described. In the micellar fibers of 1a and 1b, a unique spherical arrangement of eight methyl groups on both sides of the porphyrin ring plane provides hydrophobic porphyrin centers which align in a string of pearls. Exciton calculations indicated a tilt stacking porphyrins arrangement with a separation of 11 Å. These fibers fluoresced strongly; electron transfer reaction was therefore observed between the porphyrin center and hydrophobic quenchers as well as hydrophilic quenchers. The fibers were also active as photocatalysts in the reduction of dimethylviologen by triethanolamine. Octopusporphyrins with different metal centers can also produce fibrous aggregates, for example, H2P/Zn(II)P and Zn(II)P/Fe(III)P couples. The fluorescence quenching of Zn(II)P in the Zn(II)P/Fe(III)P hybrid fibers can be ascribed to the intermolecular electron transfer within the fibers. In H2P/Zn(II)P couple, excitation energy transfer from excited Zn1*P to H2P occurred after photoexcitation. Octopusporphyrin with four dialkylglycerophosphocholine groups on both sides of the ring plane ( 2b ) forms spherical unilamellar vesicles. Based on cryomicroscopy, a white line was observed with a diameter of 15 Å in the middle of the membrane which are obviously a porphyrin layer with low molecular packing. The octopusheme ( 2c ) vesicles prepared in a similar manner with 20-fold excess molar coexistence of 1-dodecyl-2-methylimidazole (DMIm) can bind and release oxygen reversibly at 25°C. Moreover, water-soluble octopusporphyrin ( 3a ) produced fluorescent and non-fluorescent monolayer assemblies by anion exchange of the head groups, e.g. 3a with sodium perchlorate showed planar sheets. An exciton calculation is consistent with a two-dimensional arrangement with porphyrin separations of 25.6 and 17.4 Å in the x- and y-directions, respectively. External addition of negatively charged electron acceptors, naphtoquinone sulfonate and anthraquinone sulfonate, led to partial quenching of the fluorescence of the central porphyrin layer. The results have been evaluated using equations derived for this special quenching. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The bis-porphyrin system ZnP(2), in which two zinc porphyrins are connected by a phenanthroline linker in an oblique fashion, acts as a bifunctional receptor towards the complexation of free-base meso-5,10-bis(4'-pyridyl)-15,20-diphenylporphyrin (4'-cis DPyP). In solution, NMR spectroscopy evidenced quantitative formation of the tris-porphyrin macrocyclic assembly ZnP(2)(4'-cis DPyP), in which the two fragments are held together by two axial 4'-N(pyridyl)-Zn interactions. The remarkable stability of the edifice (an association constant of about 6x10(8) M(-1) was determined by UV/Vis absorption and emission titration experiments in toluene) is due to the almost perfect geometrical match between the two interacting units. The macrocycle was crystallized and studied by X-ray diffraction, which confirmed the excellent complementarity of the two components. Photoinduced energy transfer from the singlet excited state of the zinc porphyrin chromophores to the free-base porphyrin occurs with an efficiency of 98 % (k(en)=2x10(10) s(-1) in toluene, ambient temperature) with a mechanism consistent with a dipole-dipole process with a low orientation factor.  相似文献

New ethanediyl-bridged unsymmetrical mono- and heterometallated dimers of 2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-octaethyl-21H,23H-porphyrin (H2oep) containing transition-metal ions (Mn and Fe) were synthesized by a facile stepwise metallation/demetallation process under mild conditions. The novel metallation strategy initially involved the predominant insertion of Zn into one of the two porphyrin rings of the free-base dimer, followed by the incorporation of Mn or Fe into the other porphyrin ring under exceptionally mild conditions, giving corresponding heterometallic dimers; the subsequent removal of Zn yielded mono-transition-metal dimers. The emission spectrum of the monozinc dimer predominantly exhibited fluorescence bands of the free-base porphyrin component, indicating a very efficient energy-transfer process. Conversely, emission of the free-base or Zn porphyrin component of transition metal containing dimers was strongly quenched due to photoinduced electron transfer.

A new pentaporphyrin array, constituted by a peptidic backbone and lateral chains with two free-base, one Mg(II), and two Zn(II) porphyrins, has been synthesized. The electrochemical and photophysical properties are not the mere superposition of those of its model compounds: slight shifts of the E(1/2) values and strong perturbation of both the Soret and Q-band absorption show substantial ground-state interactions among the component units, which take advantage of the rather flexible nature of the peptidic links. This multiporphyrin array, despite the flexible and nonconjugated nature of the peptidic spacers, plays the role of an antenna for visible light: an efficient photoinduced energy transfer takes place from the metalated porphyrin units to the free-base ones. Furthermore, the light emitted by the antenna can be: 1) tuned upon protonation of the free-base units, or 2) turned off by a redox input, since the formation of the Mg porphyrin radical cation, by either electrochemical or chemical methods, quenches the free-base porphyrin emission. Both quenching and tuning of the emission from the light-collecting center can be fully reverted by redox or chemical stimuli.  相似文献

The nucleophilic addition reaction of a pyrrole nitrogen of free-base porphyrins to a pi-complexed acetylene ligand in a cationic Co(III) porphyrin intermediate afforded good yields of vinylene-Co,N'-linked bis(porphyrin)s, (Por)Co(III)-CH=CH-(N-Por)H(2). N-substituted porphyrin free bases are N-vinylated regioselectively at the pyrrole adjacent to the original N-substituted pyrrole in this reaction. Tris- and tetrakis(porphyrin)s have been prepared by reacting a vinylene-N,N'-linked bis(meso-tetraarylporphyrin) with (OEP)Co(III)(H(2)O)(2)ClO(4) (OEP: octaethylporphyrin dianion) and acetylene. The tetrakis(porphyrin) proved to be a 1:1 mixture of C(i)()- and C(2)-symmetric regioisomers. These organometallic Co(III) complexes underwent facile oxidative migration of the Co-bound vinyl group to a porphyrin pyrrole nitrogen when treated with Fe(III) salts or HClO(4) to provide moderate to good yields of Co(II) vinylene-N,N'-linked multi(porphyrin) complexes. (Vinylene-N,N')bis(porphyrin) free bases with combinations of different porphyrins have been obtained by this procedure. The homobinuclear (2Co(II), 2Cu(II), and 2Zn(II)) and heterobinuclear (Co(II)Cu(II) and Co(II)Zn(II)) complexes have been prepared and characterized spectroscopically. The single-crystal X-ray analysis of (CH=CH-N,N')[(OEP)Co(II)Cl][(TPP)Zn(II)Cl] (TPP: meso-tetraphenylporphyrin dianion) showed a face-to-face structure with an average inter-ring separation of 4.39 ? (triclinic P&onemacr;; Z = 2; a = 14.806(4), b = 18.703(10), c = 13.796(3) ?, alpha = 97.69(3), beta = 99.57(2), gamma = 96.74(3) degrees ).  相似文献

Allyloxyporphyrin‐functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT‐TPP) were synthesized by radical polymerization and characterized by FTIR, UV/Vis absorption, and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy; elemental analysis; TEM; and thermogravimetric analysis. Z‐scan studies revealed that this nanohybrid exhibits enhanced nonlinear optical (NLO) properties compared to a control sample consisting of a covalently unattached physical blend of MWCNTs and porphyrin, as well as to the separate MWCNTs and porphyrin. At the wavelengths used, the mechanism of enhanced optical limiting likely involves reverse saturable absorption, nonlinear scattering, and photoinduced electron/energy transfer between the MWCNTs and the porphyrin. The role of electron/energy transfer in the NLO performance of MWCNT‐TPP was investigated by Raman and fluorescence spectroscopy.  相似文献

Two types of graphene‐based hybrid materials, graphene‐TPP (TPP=tetraphenylporphyrin) and graphene‐PdTPP (PdTPP=palladium tetraphenylporphyrin), were prepared directly from pristine graphene through one‐pot cycloaddition reactions. The hybrid materials were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), by TEM, by UV/Vis, FTIR, Raman, and luminescence spectroscopy, and by fluorescence/phosphorescence lifetime measurements. The presence of the covalent linkages between graphene and porphyrin was confirmed by FTIR and Raman spectroscopy and further supported by control experiments. The presence of TPP (or PdTPP) in the hybrid material was demonstrated by UV/Vis spectroscopy, with TGA results indicating that the graphene‐TPP and graphene‐PdTPP hybrid materials contained approximately 18 % TPP and 20 % PdTPP. The quenching of fluorescence (or phosphorescence) and reduced lifetimes suggest excited state energy/electron transfer between graphene and the covalently attached TPP (or PdTPP) molecules.  相似文献

A photochromic nitrospiropyran moiety (Sp) has been covalently linked to a zinc (PZn) and to a free-base (P(H2)) porphyrin. In the resulting dyads (P(Zn)-Sp(c) and P(H2)-Sp(c)), the porphyrin first excited singlet states are unperturbed by the closed form of the attached spiropyran. Excitation of the spiropyran moiety of either dyad in the near-UV region results in ring opening to a merocyanine form (P-Sp(o)) that absorbs at 600 nm. The open form re-closes thermally in 2-methyltetrahydrofuran with a time constant of 20 s, or following irradiation into the 600 nm band. Excitation of the zinc porphyrin moiety in the merocyanine form of the dyad yields 1PZn-Sp(o). The lifetime of the zinc porphyrin excited state is reduced from its usual value of 1.8 ns to 130 ps by singlet-singlet energy transfer to the merocyanine moiety to give PZn-1Sp(o). The quantum yield of energy transfer is 0.93. Quenching is also observed in the free base dyad, where 1P(H2)-Sp(o) and P(H2)-1Sp(o) exchange singlet excitation energy. This photoswitchable quenching phenomenon provides light-activated control of the porphyrin excited states, and consequently control of any subsequent energy or electron-transfer processes that might be initiated by these excited states in more complex molecular photonic or optoelectronic devices.  相似文献

The rate constants of intermolecular photoinduced electron transfer from triplet excited states of metalloporphyrins to a series of p-benzoquinone derivatives in benzonitrile were determined to examine the effects of the driving force, the metal, and the conformational distortion of the porphyrin ring on the reorganization energies (λ) of electron transfer by laser flash photolysis. The λ values were evaluated from the determined rate constants on the basis of the Marcus theory of electron transfer. The λ values of planar metalloporphyrins, [Al(TPP)(PhCOO)] and [Zn(TPP)] (TPP(2-)=tetraphenylporphyrin dianion), are approximately the same, but they are 0.27 eV smaller than those of the corresponding nonplanar (saddle-distorted) metalloporphyrins [Al(DPP)(PhCOO)] and [Zn(DPP)] (DPP(2-)=dodecaphenylporphyrin dianion) when they are compared for the same driving force of photoinduced electron transfer. The axial ligand PhCOO(-) of [Al(TPP)](+) and [Al(DPP)](+) was replaced by anthraquinone-2-carboxylate (AqCOO(-)) to afford the electron donor-acceptor complexes [Al(TPP)(AqCOO)] and [Al(DPP)(AqCOO)], respectively. The X-ray crystal structure of [Al(TPP)(AqCOO)] revealed strong coordination of AqCOO(-) to the Al(3+) ion of [Al(TPP)](+) and the existence of π-π interactions between AqCOO(-) and the porphyrin ring. In the case of the saddle-distorted [Al(DPP)(AqCOO)], however, the AqCOO(-) moiety is nearly perpendicular to the porphyrin ring. The photodynamics of intracomplex photoinduced electron transfer from the singlet excited state of [Al(TPP)](+) and [Al(DPP)](+) to the AqCOO(-) moiety were also examined in comparison with the intermolecular photoinduced electron-transfer reactions, and the determined rate constants were evaluated in light of the Marcus theory of electron transfer to reveal that the electron transfer is adiabatic in each case.  相似文献

An amphiphilic tetraphenylporphyrin and its iron complex bearing four phospholipid substituents, in which a trimethylolethane residue connects the two acyl chains (lipid-porphyrins), have been synthesized. The free-base lipid-porphyrin 6a self-organizes in aqueous media to form spherical unilamellar vesicles with a diameter of 100 nm and a uniform thickness of 10 nm, which corresponds to twice the length of the molecule. In the visible absorption spectrum, the porphyrin Soret band was significantly red-shifted (12 nm) relative to that of the monomer in benzene/MeOH solution due to the excitonic interaction of the porphyrin chromophores. The [symbol: see text]-A isotherm of 6a gave an area per molecule of 2.2 nm2, which allowed the estimation of the number of molecules in a single vesicle (2.3 x 10(4)). Double-layered Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of 6a on a glass surface exhibited an absorption spectrum identical to that of the 6a vesicles in bulk aqueous solution, and this suggests that they contain similar geometric arrangements of the porphyrin moieties. Exciton calculations on the basis of our structural model reproduced the bathochromic shift of the Soret band well. In the photophysical properties of the 6a vesicles, the characteristics of J-aggregated porphyrins substantially predominate: strong fluorescence and extremely short triplet lifetime. The iron complex 6b with a small molar excess of 1-dodecylimidazole (DIm) also formed spherical unilamellar vesicles (100 nm phi). Scanning force microscopy after evaporation on a graphite surface revealed 6b/DIm vesicles with a vertical height of 19.8 nm, which coincided with the thickness of the double bilayer membranes. The ferrous 6c formed a bis(DIm)-coordinated low-spin FeII complex under an N2 atmosphere. Upon addition of O2 to this solution, a kinetically stable O2 adduct was formed at 37 degrees C with a half-life of 17 h. Distinct gel-phase (liquid-crystal) transitions of the lipid-porphyrin membranes were clearly observed; the free base 6a displayed a higher transition temperature (56 degrees C) than the iron complex. Magnetic circular dichroism and infrared spectroscopic studies proved that molecular O2 coordinates to the self-organized lipid-porphyrinatoiron(II) vesicles in aqueous media.  相似文献

Chiral aggregation of oligo(p-phenylene vinylene)-functionalized Zn and free-base porphyrins is observed in water. The formation of mixed assemblies containing both porphyrins results in sequential energy transfer from OPV via zinc porphyrin to free-base porphyrin. Furthermore, the incorporation of C60 as electron acceptor yields a charge separated state by ultimate electron transfer.  相似文献

We successfully synthesized a hetero face‐to‐face porphyrin array composed of ZnTPP and RuTPP(DABCO)2 (TPP: 5, 10, 15, 20‐tetraphenylporphyrin, DABCO: 1,4‐diazabi‐cyclo[2.2.2]octane) in 2:1 molar ratio. A cyclic Zn porphyrin dimer (ZnCP) was also used as the host molecule for the Ru porphyrin. In the latter, the Ru‐DABCO bonding in RuTPP(DABCO)2 was stabilized by the host‐guest complexation. Reaction progress kinetic analysis of the ligand substitution reaction of RuTPP(DABCO)2 and that in ZnCP revealed the stabilization mechanism of the Ru‐DABCO bonding. Photoinduced electron transfer (PET) from the Zn porphyrin to the Ru porphyrin was observed in the porphyrin array. The host‐guest stabilization of unstable complex for construction of a donor—acceptor–donor structure is expected to be a new method for an artificial photosynthesis.  相似文献

High-spin (hs) ferric heme centers occur in the catalytic or redox cycles of many metalloproteins and exhibit very complicated magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) and UV-vis absorption spectra. Therefore, detailed assignments of the MCD spectra of these species are missing. In this study, the electronic spectra (MCD and UV-vis) of the five-coordinate hs ferric model complex [Fe(TPP)(Cl)] are analyzed and assigned for the first time. A correlated fit of the absorption and low-temperature MCD spectra of [Fe(TPP)(Cl)] lead to the identification of at least 20 different electronic transitions. The assignments of these spectra are based on the following: (a) variable temperature and variable field saturation data, (b) time-dependent density functional theory calculations, (c) MCD pseudo A-terms, and (d) correlation to resonance Raman (rRaman) data to validate the assignments. From these results, a number of puzzling questions about the electronic spectra of [Fe(TPP)(Cl)] are answered. The Soret band in [Fe(TPP)(Cl)] is split into three components because one of its components is mixed with the porphyrin A2u72-->Eg82/83 (pi-->pi*) transition. The broad, intense absorption feature at higher energy from the Soret band is due to one of the Soret components and a mixed sigma and pi chloro to iron CT transition. The high-temperature MCD data allow for the identification of the Q v band at 20 202 cm(-1), which corresponds to the C-term feature at 20 150 cm(-1). Q is not observed but can be localized by correlation to rRaman data published before. Finally, the low energy absorption band around 650 nm is assigned to two P-->Fe charge transfer transitions, one being the long sought after A1u(HOMO)-->d pi transition.  相似文献

The synthesis is reported of a series of metalloporphyrins (and the corresponding free-base porphyrin), mono-meso-substituted with a bipyridyl group via an amide link at the 4-position of one phenyl group: [Re(CO)(3)(Pic)Bpy-MTPP][OTf], where M = Mg, Zn, Pd or 2H, Pic = 3-picoline, Bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, TPP = tetraphenylporphyrin. The photochemical reactions of the assemblies with the sacrificial electron donor triethylamine have been investigated by IR spectroscopy and compared to the behaviour of analogues of the type Bpy-MTPP without rhenium. Selective long-wavelength irradiation of the metalloporphyrin unit in the presence of excess picoline leads to reduction at the rhenium bipyridine centre. In the absence of 3-picoline, the latter is not reduced, but substituted by added halide or by the THF solvent. Mechanistic analysis highlights the differences between the zinc and magnesium chelate on the one hand and the palladium porphyrin on the other. The free-base assembly, [Re(CO)(3)(Pic)Bpy-H(2)TPP][OTf] is unreactive. The zinc and magnesium porphyrin assemblies initially coordinate Et(3)N before undergoing photo-induced inner-sphere electron transfer from the triethylamine to form a charge-shifted excited state of the assembly. In contrast, the palladium-based dyad reacts via outer-sphere reductive quenching of a porphyrin-based excited state. The substitution products are postulated to form by a mechanism involving an electron-transfer chain.  相似文献

An asymmetric ‘Pacman’ metalloligand, [Zn(PXT)], which features a cofacial ZnII–porphyrin unit (P) covalently attached to a terpyridine (T) chelating group via a rigid xanthene (X) moiety has been prepared, and its interactions with several different trivalent LnIII cations (NdIII, GdIII, YbIII and LuIII) have been examined. The formation of 1:1 metal–ligand complexes was monitored by 1H NMR spectroscopy and corroborated by HRMS data. Solution‐stability constants were determined by UV/Vis titration, and the resulting complexes with NdIII or YbIII demonstrated sensitised emission in the NIR region due to energy transfer from the ZnII–porphyrin donor to LnIII acceptor. The energy transfer was investigated by transient absorption techniques, which provided insight into the kinetics and efficiency of the antenna effect.  相似文献

A covalent dyad composed of a free‐base porphyrin and a perylene diimide ( 1 ) was synthesised and characterised by NMR, HRMS, UV/Vis and fluorometric methods. UV/Vis spectrophotometric analysis indicated a moderate coupling between the components in the ground state. Fluorescence spectroscopy revealed that the emissive properties of the dyad showed that the quantum yield of emission from the porphyrin Soret band increased dramatically and could not be rationalised by a straightforward photoinduced energy (and/or electron) transfer, but rather a coupling of excited states.  相似文献

The synthesis of a porphyrin compound, 1, containing a 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline moiety that is fused at the beta-pyrrole positions is reported. The absorption spectra of the free-base, copper(II), and zinc(II) derivatives have been studied. On the basis of absorption band intensities, the HOMO of the free base (H21) and its copper and zinc complexes (Cu1 and Zn1) was determined to be of a1u symmetry. Relative to H21, compounds Cul and Znl show enhanced spectral changes upon external metal ion binding. Although the HOMO is the same in all three compounds, the energy gap between the two highest occupied orbitals is greater for Cu1 and Zn1 than it is for the free-base compound. Several metal ions (Ni2+, Cu+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Li+) were examined in their binding to the phenanthrolinic group by measuring the resulting changes in the absorption spectra. It is shown that the observed changes in the absorption spectra are insensitive to the nature of the metal ion coordinated by the phenanthroline moiety. Significant differences in the absorption and emission spectra between Zn1 and [Zn(Zn1)2]2+ clearly demonstrate that the porphyrin pi-system is strongly affected by the binding of metal ions at the fused phenanthrolinic moiety.  相似文献

The enzymatic oxidation of silk with H(2)O(2) in the presence of horseradish peroxidase (HRP) has been investigated. Two intermediate complexes have been observed during this reaction. Both can be attributed to Fe(4+) ions axially bonded to an oxygen atom and to a porphyrin radical (P). In the most unstable of them, indicated as compound II, the chemical bond between [Fe(IV)=O](2+) and P was weaker than in the other, indicated as compound I. The former compound disappeared within 1 h of the reaction, at difference with the latter, traces of which were observed even after 3 weeks with dried samples. However, the chemical bond between [Fe(IV)=O](2+) and P in compound I weakened during the sample ageing. All these phenomena have been enlightened by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and spectrophotometric ultraviolet/visible (UV/Vis) measurements.  相似文献

5,10, 15-Triphenyl-20-{2- [α- (adenine-9 ) acetylamino]} phenyl porphyrin ( 1 ), 5,10, 15-triphenyl-20-{2-[α-(cytosine-1)acetylamino]} phenyl porphyrin (2), 5, 10, 15-triphenyl-20-{4-[α-(cytosine-1)ethoxy]} phenyl porphyrin (3) and their zinc complexes Zn-1, Zn-2 and Zn-3 have been prepared and characterized by ^1H NMR spectra, elemental analyses, electronic absorption spectra and mass spectra (FAB). Intramolecular π-π interactions and intramolecular metal-~ interaction for 1, 2, Zn-1,and Zn-2 have been investigated by several methods. ^1H NMR studies demonstrate that the porphyrin π-system in 1 and 2 is parallel to the adenine and the cytosine aromatic ring, respectively. The electronic absorption spectral properties of free porphyrin derivatives and their zinc complexes have been compared with those of H2TPP and ZnTPP. The results show that the UV-vis spectra of 1 and 2 are the same as that of H2TPP,whereas the spectra of their zinc complexes show 7 nm red shifts of the Soret bands compared to that of ZnTPP. The emission spectra of Zn-1 and Zn-2 are independent of excitation wavelength. From combination of the evidence of absorption and emission spectra it is suggested the existence of intramolecular metal-π interaction in Zn-1 and Zn-2. The results of conformational analysis agreed quite nicely with that of experiments, thus it was further to validate the experimental conclusions.  相似文献
