The dynamics of electron solvation following excitation of the charge-transfer-to-solvent precursor state in iodide-doped methanol clusters, I(-)(CH(3)OH)(n = 4-11), are studied with time-resolved photoelectron imaging. This excitation produces a I···(CH(3)OH)(n)(-) cluster that is unstable with respect to electron autodetachment and whose autodetachment lifetime increases monotonically from ~800 fs to 85 ps as n increases from 4 to 11. The vertical detachment energy (VDE) and width of the excited state feature in the photoelectron spectrum show complex time dependence during the lifetime of this state. The VDE decreases over the first 100-400 fs, then rises exponentially to a maximum with a ~1 ps time constant, and finally decreases by as much as 180 meV with timescales of 3-20 ps. The early dynamics are associated with electron transfer from the iodide to the methanol cluster, while the longer-time changes in VDE are attributed to solvent reordering, possibly in conjunction with ejection of neutral iodine from the cluster. Changes in the observed width of the spectrum largely follow those of the VDEs; the dynamics of both are attributed to the major rearrangement of the solvent cluster during relaxation. The relaxation dynamics are interpreted as a reorientation of at least one methanol molecule and the disruption and formation of the solvent network in order to accommodate the excess charge.  相似文献

We report conformationally averaged VDEs (VDE(w)(n)) for different sizes of NO(3)(-)·nH(2)O clusters calculated by using uncorrelated HF, correlated hybrid density functional (B3LYP, BHHLYP) and correlated ab intio (MP2 and CCSD(T)) theory. It is observed that the VDE(w)(n) at the B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p), B3LYP/Aug-cc-Pvtz and CCSD(T)/6-311++G(d,p) levels is very close to the experimentally measured VDE. It is shown that the use of calculated results of the conformationally averaged VDE for small-sized solvated negatively-charged clusters and a microscopic theory-based general expression for the same provides a route to obtain the VDE for a wide range of cluster sizes, including bulk.  相似文献

At the level of MP2 with the aug-cc-pVDZ and aug-cc-pVTZ basis sets supplemented with diffuse bond functions, the authors searched the potential energy surfaces of (HF)(n) (-) (n=3-6). In accordance with the literature, they found that the symmetrically solvated-electron anion (3(FH){e}) possesses the largest vertical detachment energy (VDE), while the dipole-bound anion ((FH)(3){e}) is the lowest isomer in energy for (HF)(3) (-). Their calculations demonstrated that, with the increase of the cluster size, the asymmetric (FH)(a){e}(HF)(b) cluster is stabilized with a simultaneously increased VDE. Thus they predicted that, for (HF)(6) (-), the (FH)(4){e}(HF)(2) cluster is both kinetically and thermodynamically most stable, possessing the largest VDE and being the global minimum at the same time.  相似文献

The photoelectron images of Ag(-)(H(2)O)(x) (x=1,2) and AgOH(-)(H(2)O)(y) (y=0-4) are reported. The Ag(-)(H(2)O)(1,2) anionic complexes have similar characteristics to the other two coinage metal-water complexes that can be characterized as metal atomic anion solvated by water molecules with the electron mainly localized on the metal. The vibrationally well-resolved photoelectron spectrum allows the adiabatic detachment energy (ADE) and vertical detachment energy (VDE) of AgOH(-) to be determined as 1.18(2) and 1.24(2) eV, respectively. The AgOH(-) anion interacts more strongly with water molecules than the Ag(-) anion. The photoelectron spectra of Ag(-)(H(2)O)(x) and AgOH(-)(H(2)O)(y) show a gradual increase in ADE and VDE with increasing x and y due to the solvent stabilization.  相似文献

The dynamics of charge-transfer-to-solvent states are studied in I- (H2O)(n=3-10) clusters and their deuterated counterparts using time-resolved photoelectron imaging. The photoelectron spectra for clusters with n > or = 5 reveal multiple time scales for dynamics after their electronic excitation. An increase in the vertical detachment energy (VDE) by several hundred millielectronvolts on a time scale of approximately 1 ps is attributed to stabilization of the excess electron, primarily through rearrangement of the solvent molecules, but a contribution to this stabilization from motion of the I atom cannot be ruled out. The VDE drops by approximately 50 meV on a time scale of tens of picoseconds; this is attributed to loss of the neutral iodine atom. Finally, the pump-probe signal decays with a time constant of 60 ps-3 ns, increasing with cluster size. This decay is commensurate with the growth of very slow electrons and is attributed to autodetachment. Smaller clusters (n = 3, 4) display simpler dynamics. Anisotropy parameters are reported for clusters n = 4-9.  相似文献

We investigated the microscopic solvation of NaBO(2) in water by conducting photoelectron spectroscopy and ab initio studies on NaBO(2)(-)(H(2)O)(n) (n = 0-4) clusters. The vertical detachment energy (VDE) of NaBO(2)(-) is estimated to be 1.00 ± 0.08 eV. The photoelectron spectra of NaBO(2)(-)(H(2)O)(1) and NaBO(2)(-)(H(2)O)(2) are similar to that of bare NaBO(2)(-), except that their VDEs shift to higher electron binding energies (EBE). For the spectra of NaBO(2)(-)(H(2)O)(3) and NaBO(2)(-)(H(2)O)(4), a low EBE feature appears dramatically in addition to the features observed in the spectra of NaBO(2)(-)(H(2)O)(0-2). Our study shows that the water molecules mainly interact with the BO(2)(-) unit in NaBO(2)(-)(H(2)O)(1) and NaBO(2)(-)(H(2)O)(2) clusters to form Na-BO(2)(-)(H(2)O)(n) type structures, while in NaBO(2)(-)(H(2)O)(3) and NaBO(2)(-)(H(2)O)(4) clusters, the water molecules can interact strongly with the Na atom, therefore, the Na-BO(2)(-)(H(2)O)(n) and Na(H(2)O)(n)···BO(2)(-) types of structures coexist. That can be seen as an initial step of the transition from a contact ion pair (CIP) structure to a solvent-separated ion pair (SSIP) structure for the dissolution of NaBO(2).  相似文献

The effect of excitation energy on the lifetimes of the charge-transfer-to-solvent (CTTS) states of small (4 ≤ n ≤ 10) iodide-doped water and alcohol clusters was explored using femtosecond time-resolved photoelectron imaging. Excitation of the CTTS state at wavelengths ranging from 272 to 238 nm leads to the formation of the I···(ROH)(n)(-) (R═H-, CH(3)-, and CH(3)CH(2)-) species, which can be thought of as a vibrationally excited bare solvent cluster anion perturbed by an iodine atom. Autodetachment lifetimes for alcohol-containing clusters range from 1 to 71 ps, while water clusters survive for hundreds of ps in this size range. Autodetachment lifetimes were observed to decrease significantly with increasing excitation energy for a particular number and type of solvent molecules. The application of Klots' model for thermionic emission from clusters to I(-)(H(2)O)(5) and I(-)(CH(3)OH)(7) qualitatively reproduces experimental trends and reveals a high sensitivity to energy parametrization while remaining relatively insensitive to the number of vibrational modes. Experimental and computational results therefore suggest that the rate of electron emission is primarily determined by the energetics of the cluster system rather than by details of molecular structure.  相似文献

Three unusual polyoxovanadate-based inorganic-organic hybrid complexes, [Zn(Im)(2)(DMF)(2)](2)[H(2)V(10)O(28)]·Im·DMF (1), [Zn(3)(Htrz)(6)(H(2)O)(6)][V(10)O(28)]·10H(2)O·Htrz (2) and {[Zn(3)(trz)(3)(H(2)O)(4)(DMF)](2)[V(10)O(28)]·4H(2)O}(n) (3) (Im = imidazole, Htrz = 1,2,4-triazole, DMF = N,N'-dimethylammonium) have been synthesized at room temperature via evaporative crystallization, and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Complex 1 shows the structure of a discrete [V(10)O(28)](6-) cluster grafted by two [Zn(Im)(2)(DMF)(2)](2+) fragments through two bridged oxygen atoms, representing a rarely observed coordination mode. Complex 2 consists of a linear trinuclear Zn(II) unit bridging six Htrz ligands and a [V(10)O(28)](6-) cluster as the counter anion, where the extensive hydrogen-bonding interactions lead to {Zn(3)-V(10)}(SMF) and a special water layer involving (H(2)O)(36) rings, and consequently forms a unique 3D metal-organic-water supramolecular network. Complex 3 can be described as a 3,4-connected fsc-type network, and is the first example of open coordination 3D framework based on [V(10)O(28)](6-) and the other two different secondary building units, involving mononuclear and binuclear Zn(II)-Htrz motifs. The optical properties of complexes 1-3 in the solid state are investigated at room temperature. The results show that complexes 1 and 3 emit intense blue luminescences attributed to the ligands, while complex 2 exhibits an infrequent fluorescent property, emitting both blue and yellow luminescences at 472 and 603 nm simultaneously. Furthermore, powder X-ray diffraction and thermogravimetric analyses of 1-3 are also investigated, which demonstrate their high purities and thermal stabilities.  相似文献

The electron binding energies of the small hydrated amino acid anions, [glycine x (H2O)(1,2)]-, are determined using photoelectron spectroscopy. The vertical electron detachment energies (VDEs) are found to increase by approximately 0.12 eV with each additional water molecule such that the higher electron binding isomer of the dihydrate is rather robust, with a VDE value of 0.33 eV. A weak binding isomer of the dihydrate is also recovered, however, with a VDE value (0.14 eV) lower than that of the monohydrate. Unlike the situation in the smaller (n < or = 13) water cluster anions, the [Gly x (H2O)(n > or = 6)]- clusters are observed to photodissociate via water monomer evaporation upon photoexcitation in the O-H stretching region. We discuss this observation in the context of the mechanism responsible for the previously observed [S. Xu, M. Nilles, and K. H. Bowen, Jr., J. Chem. Phys. 119, 10696 (2003)] sudden onset in the cluster formation at [Gly x (H2O)5]-.  相似文献

We report a series of isoelectronic gold-caged metal clusters, M@Au14 (M = Zr, Hf), and anion clusters, M@Au14- (M = Sc, Y), all having a calculated HOMO-LUMO gap larger than the well-known tetrahedral cluster Au20-the 3D metal cluster with a very large measured HOMO-LUMO gap (1.77 eV). The clusters M@Au14 (M = Sc, Y) also exhibit a calculated electron affinity (EA) and vertical detachment energy (VDE) not only higher than the "superhalogen" icosahedral Al13 cluster but also possibly even higher than a Cl atom which has the highest (measured) elemental EA or VDE (3.61 eV).  相似文献

Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies of Sc(2)(μ(2)-S)@C(s)(6)-C(82)·Ni(II)(OEP)·2C(6)H(6) and Sc(2)(μ(2)-S)@C(3v)(8)-C(82)·Ni(II)(OEP)·2C(6)H(6) reveal that both contain fully ordered fullerene cages. The crystallographic data for Sc(2)(μ(2)-S)@C(s)(6)-C(82)·Ni(II)(OEP)·2C(6)H(6) show two remarkable features: the presence of two slightly different cage sites and a fully ordered molecule Sc(2)(μ(2)-S)@C(s)(6)-C(82) in one of these sites. The Sc-S-Sc angles in Sc(2)(μ(2)-S)@C(s)(6)-C(82) (113.84(3)°) and Sc(2)(μ(2)-S)@C(3v)(8)-C(82) differ (97.34(13)°). This is the first case where the nature and structure of the fullerene cage isomer exerts a demonstrable effect on the geometry of the cluster contained within. Computational studies have shown that, among the nine isomers that follow the isolated pentagon rule for C(82), the cage stability changes markedly between 0 and 250 K, but the C(s)(6)-C(82) cage is preferred at temperatures ≥250 °C when using the energies obtained with the free encapsulated model (FEM). However, the C(3v)(8)-C(82) cage is preferred at temperatures ≥250 °C using the energies obtained by rigid rotor-harmonic oscillator (RRHO) approximation. These results corroborate the fact that both cages are observed and likely to trap the Sc(2)(μ(2)-S) cluster, whereas earlier FEM and RRHO calculations predicted only the C(s)(6)-C(82) cage is likely to trap the Sc(2)(μ(2)-O) cluster. We also compare the recently published electrochemistry of the sulfide-containing Sc(2)(μ(2)-S)@C(s)(6)-C(82) to that of corresponding oxide-containing Sc(2)(μ(2)-O)@C(s)(6)-C(82).  相似文献

We have used ultrafast time-resolved photoelectron imaging to measure charge transfer dynamics in iodide-doped acetonitrile clusters I(-)(CH(3)CN)(n) with n = 5-10. Strong modulations of vertical detachment energies were observed following charge transfer from the halide, allowing interpretation of the ongoing dynamics. We observe a sharp drop in the vertical detachment energy (VDE) within 300-400 fs, followed by a biexponential increase that is complete by approximately 10 ps. Comparison to theory suggests that the iodide is internally solvated and that photodetachment results in formation of a diffuse electron cloud in a confined cavity. We interpret the initial drop in VDE as a combination of expansion of the cavity and localization of the excess electron on one or two solvent molecules. The subsequent increase in VDE is attributed to a combination of the I atom leaving the cavity and rearrangement of the acetonitrile molecules to solvate the electron. The n = 5-8 clusters then show a drop in VDE of around 50 meV on a much longer time scale. The long-time VDEs are consistent with those of (CH(3)CN)(n)(-) clusters with internally solvated electrons. Although the excited-state created by the pump pulse decays by emission of a slow electron, no such decay is seen by 200 ps.  相似文献

The copper-nucleoside anions, Cu(-)(cytidine) and Cu(-)(uridine), have been generated in the gas phase and studied by both experimental (anion photoelectron spectroscopy) and theoretical (density functional calculations) methods. The photoelectron spectra of both systems are dominated by single, intense, and relatively narrow peaks. These peaks are centered at 2.63 and 2.71 eV for Cu(-)(cytidine) and Cu(-)(uridine), respectively. According to our calculations, Cu(-)(cytidine) and Cu(-)(uridine) species with these peak center [vertical detachment energy (VDE)] values correspond to structures in which copper atomic anions are bound to the sugar portions of their corresponding nucleosides largely through electrostatic interactions; the observed species are anion-molecule complexes. The combination of experiment and theory also reveal the presence of a slightly higher energy, anion-molecule complex isomer in the case of the Cu(-)(cytidine). Furthermore, our calculations found that chemically bond isomers of these species are much more stable than their anion-molecule complex counterparts, but since their calculated VDE values are larger than the photon energy used in these experiments, they were not observed.  相似文献

The reaction of the basic bismuth nitrate [Bi(6)O(4)(OH)(4)](NO(3))(6)·H(2)O with sodium methacrylate in DMSO gave [Bi(38)O(45)(OMc)(24)(DMSO)(9)]·2DMSO·7H(2)O (OMc = O(2)CC(3)H(5)), which is highly soluble in organic solvents. By copolymerization of the bismuth oxido cluster with methyl methacrylate transparent, radiopaque organic-inorganic hybrid materials were obtained.  相似文献

The new antimonato polyoxovanadate [V(IV)(16)Sb(III)(4)O(42)(H(2)O)](8-) cluster (1a) is the main structural motif of the solvothermally obtained compound {(trenH(2))Zn(tren)}(2)[V(16)Sb(4)O(42)(H(2)O)]·xH(2)O (x = 6-10) (1) (tren = tris(2-aminoethyl)amine). The C(2)-symmetric cluster structure is closely related to the {V(18)O(42)} archetype. 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c with a = 30.7070(19) ?, b = 13.9512(5) ?, c = 23.1435(14) ?, β = 128.076(6)°, and V = 7804.8(7) ?(3). The orientation of the [Sb(III)(2)O(5)](4-) groups in each cluster leads to intermolecular Sb···O contacts and the formation of channels between the clusters. [Zn(tren)(trenH(2))] complexes with trigonal bipyramidal coordination environments are located between the [V(16)Sb(4)O(42)(H(2)O)](8-) anions, and form a three dimensional network with them via strong N-H···O hydrogen bonds. Up to 250 °C crystal water molecules are emitted, which are reversibly incorporated in humid air.  相似文献

Strapping two salicylaldoxime units together with aliphatic α,Ω-aminomethyl links in the 3-position gives ligands which allow the assembly of the polynuclear complexes [Fe(7)O(2)(OH)(6)(H(2)L1)(3)(py)(6)](BF(4))(5)·6H(2)O·14MeOH (1·6H(2)O·14MeOH), [Fe(6)O(OH)(7)(H(2)L2)(3)](BF(4))(3)·4H(2)O·9MeOH (2·4H(2)O·9MeOH) and [Mn(6)O(2)(OH)(2)(H(2)L1)(3)(py)(4)(MeCN)(2)](BF(4))(5)(NO(3))·3MeCN·H(2)O·5py (3·3MeCN·H(2)O·5py). In each case the metallic skeleton of the cluster is based on a trigonal prism in which two [M(III)(3)O] triangles are tethered together via three helically twisted double-headed oximes. The latter are present as H(2)L(2-) in which the oximic and phenolic O-atoms are deprotonated and the amino N-atoms protonated, with the oxime moieties bridging across the edges of the metal triangles. Both the identity of the metal ion and the length of the straps connecting the salicylaldoxime units have a major impact on the nuclearity and topology of the resultant cluster, with, perhaps counter-intuitively, the longer straps producing the "smallest" molecules.  相似文献

Supertetrahedral compounds of chalcogenometalates (T3 cluster compounds) integrated with Ni-bpy (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine) complex were prepared by a solvothermal technique. The compound [Ni(bpy)(3)](3)[H(4)In(10)S(20)]·bpy·2EG·6H(2)O (Mb-InS-1) (EG = ethylene glycol) consists of discrete T3 clusters of [H(4)In(10)S(20)](6-) with three [Ni(bpy)(3)](2+) cations. The compound [Ni(bpy)(3)](2)[H(2)In(10)S(19)]·bpy·2HEA·2H(2)O (Mb-InS-2) (EA = ethanolamine) is a 1-D polymer, in which zigzag T3 cluster chains are charge balanced by metal-bpy complex cations. The compound [Ni(bpy)(3)](7)[H(4)In(40)S(74)]·7Hbpy·3HEA·8H(2)O (Mb-InS-3) is a 2-D T3 polymer with cation layers of [Ni(bpy)(3)](2+). Integrating M-bpy complex cations into chalcogenido structures has been made with the aim of improving the photoabsorption of the materials. The electronic spectra showed the new bands of cation-anion charge-transfer (CACT) that is mainly caused by the S···H-C(py) contacts between the InS T3 supertetrahedral clusters and the [Ni(bpy)(3)](2+) cations.  相似文献

The effects of homogeneous and heterogeneous solvation on the electronic structure and photodetachment dynamics of hydrated carbon dioxide cluster anions are investigated using negative-ion photoelectron imaging spectroscopy. The experiments are conducted on mass-selected [(CO(2))(n)()(H(2)O)(m)()](-) cluster anions with n and m ranging up to 12 and 6, respectively, for selected clusters. Homogeneous solvation in (CO(2))(n)()(-) has minimal effect on the photoelectron angular distributions, despite dimer-to-monomer anion core switching. Heterogeneous hydration, on the other hand, is found to have the marked effect of decreasing the photodetachment anisotropy. For example, in the [CO(2)(H(2)O)(m)()](-) cluster anion series, the photoelectron anisotropy parameter falls to essentially zero with as few as 5-6 water molecules. The analysis of the data, supported by theoretical modeling, reveals that in the ground electronic state of the hydrated clusters the excess electron is localized on CO(2), corresponding to a (CO(2))(n)()(-).(H(2)O)(m)() configuration for all cluster anions studied. The diminishing anisotropy in the photoelectron images of hydrated cluster anions is proposed to be attributable to photoinduced charge transfer to solvent, creating transient (CO(2))(n)().(H(2)O)(m)()(-) states that subsequently decay via autodetachment.  相似文献

A pentanuclear dysprosium cluster, [Dy(5)(μ(3)-OH)(6)(Acc)(6)(H(2)O)(10)]·Cl(9)·24H(2)O (1), has been synthesized through the reaction of 1-amino-cyclohexanel-carboxylic acid (Acc) and DyCl(3)·5H(2)O. Crystal structural analysis reveals that the metal core of cluster 1 shows an unprecedented trigonal bipyramidal (TBP) geometry. Magnetic studies indicate that the Dy(5) cluster exhibits slow magnetic relaxation.  相似文献

The isomers of (H(2)O)(24) (-) tetrakaidecahedral cluster are studied by applying the Becke-3-parameter density functional theory and Lee-Yang-Parr correlation functional (B3LYP) and 6-311++G** basis set. Three isomers are selected on the basis of stabilization energy values. The vertical electron dissociation energies (VDE) of these isomers are 1.353, 0.404, and 0.258 eV, respectively. The experimental VDE value of 1.31 eV [J. Chem. Phys. 92, 3980 (1990)] for this cluster size is in excellent agreement with that calculated for isomer 1, suggesting the dominance of this isomer in the experiment. Four water molecules in this isomer share most of the -1 charge. These four water molecules have non-H-bonding H (NHB H) atoms turned toward the cavity, and the inward turned H atoms exhibit a significant lowering of O-H stretch frequency compared to that of a monomer. Isomers 2 and 3 have all 12 NHB H atoms projected outward and have the -1 charge distributed among 7-8 water molecules on the cluster surface.  相似文献
